Hi, everyone i am using K7T266 Pro2 and G4MX440-T. The problem that i am facing is that my PC will always hang when i am surfing the net and listening to mp3 at the same time. The temperature at that time is about 54.  I am using Windows XP Pro SP1 and Athlon XP 1700. Can someone please help me to rectify my problem ? I am really desperate.

What is actual problem with GF4MX cards? I have same MB and after updating videocard to GF4MX maybe 1/5 of boots fails (pc keeps beeping), only reset helps.
Is it problem with AGP volts or something like that?

  • Problems with K7t266 Pro2 and Soundblaster live 5.1

    Hi all,
having a bit of a problem here with the above combination K7T266 pro2 and SB live5.1.
When playing music, watching video etc. every now and then I get something that sounds like bus noise, just for a few seconds and then the music continues, sometimes it also happens that video stops during the few seconds.
I have latest bios on mainboard, latest drivers for SB live, Via chipset, latest GPU drivers.
I tried changing IRQ's, took all other cards out, etc.
Nothing seems to work and it is getting very annoying. :(  :(
    Anyone any tips or tricks??
    Thanx

  • K7t266 Pro2 and no sound

When I go to load the audio drivers I get a message saying:
"VIA Audio Chipset is not enbabled on this system! Please enable it first in Bios."
After checking Bios it is already enabled but yet not listed under the Device Manager in Windows.
I have re-installed the OS ( Win98SE ) 3 times now per VIA FAQ and still not recognized.
Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly
    appreciated.

Maybe you are trying to install the 74mu170a or the new ComboAudio_a1u300a.
The last audio driver from VIA that works on this board is 74mu160a, VIA says it is due to new Microsoft Certification requirements.

  • K7t266 Pro2 And Pc2700 Ddr Ram?

Does anybody here know if a k7t266 pro2 mobo will support pc2700 ddr ram?  COMPUSA Has a great deal on PNY right now--512mb pc2700 ddr for 50 bucks after rebates....As far as I have read, the documentation says pc1600 or pc2100.  But we all know that rules are meant to be broken.......
Thanks for any help I receive!!!
My specs are in my signature!

You can use pc2700 ram but without any benefit against pc2100, speed will be the same.
Be aware that it's normally no good idea to mix different ram type, this can cause trouble.

  • K7T266 Pro2 and ATI Radeon 7500?

Ok, first off, I have been in the technical field for about 12 years, so there is no need to "dumb down" your responses...
All right. I've got the above board, and it has been working fine up until I bought a new ATI Radeon 7500 vid card. I shut down the computer, disconnected the power supply, and removed my old vid card (which, btw, was working fine, but it was an 8MB old card). Then I installed the new vid card and restarted the computer. At this point, it promptly refused to even post. The monitor light flashed as if it were in standby, and there were no sounds from the board. Everything is still recieving power, so that's not the problem. The "D-bracket" showed 1-Red, 2-Green, 3 and 4-Red. Now this says that there is something wrong with the memory (?). Switched RAM chips, then the d-bracket shows all red = CPU problems? So, I shut it down and waited for a bit. Restarted it again, and the same lighting on the d-bracket, with 1,3,4-Red, and 2-Green. Now the motherboard repeatedly emits 3 fast beeps, then a pause, then 3 fast beeps, etc.. So, I put in the old video card, and the same thing occurred, in a RANDOM order. So, keeping in mind that NOTHING other than the vid card was removed OR touched before the problem occurred. RANDOM errors are NOT the way to run technical items. RANDOM problems are meant for EXPERIMENTAL items...
I would really hate to have to send in my motherboard to MSI to get it fixed (on warranty), because my business RELIES on my ability to access my computer, and 3 months computer-less is unacceptable. If there is not some LOGICAL thing that may be wrong, I will have to simply go out and buy another new motherboard. Unfortunate as it is, I am afraid that it will NOT be an MSI, because all I have ever had is problems with this board, and the lack of technical support is a real problem.
Any ideas will be tried, and I will post results as soon as I see the suggestion. Thanks.

well if you can and I know I would take the ATI card back and get a refund and by a nvidia I got a $250 ATI AIW setting on my file cabnet as a paper wait
one other thing you could try if you have one a old PCI video card remove the ATi card put a PCi video card in and try to boot useing it if that works go into bios setup and under advanced chipset settings make sure all the agp settings are set to auto I know I had this problem before I had the AGP driver setting set manule to a setting that would not work with my video card and clearing cmos would not reset this setting to auto.
I had to use a old pci card to boot so I could reset this to auto.

  • Does K7T266 Pro2 support XP1800+ 0.13 um?

    Hi,
Does K7T266 Pro2 support XP1800+ toroughbread 0.13 um without any mod?
    Thank you all

    G'day!
By no means, an expert, but you have to adjust your
    v-core voltage to use a 0.13um Tbred on K7T266 Pro2 and
that means removing c37 and updating BIOS.
Have fun reading that enormous thread that BAS started!!!!

  • K7T266 Pro2

    Hello
    Does anyone know what is the difference between the "K7T266 Pro2 MS-6380 v1.x" and "K7T266 Pro2 MS-6380 v2.x" ?
    I recently bought a K7T266 Pro2 and I didn't seen it's a 6380 v1.0
I could'nt found information about this motherboard on the site.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi,
They are mostly the same, except the K7T266pro can have problems with the USB ports, and thats fixed on the pro2....
You better bring it back as you odered the pro2....and they should sell you that....

  • Questions on Flashing Bios for K7T266-Pro2

    Hi,
I am trying to upgrade bios for my old K7T266-Pro2 and downloaded the file "6380V37"
It includes kind instructions for flashing the bios but still I want to make sure something.
    1. Currently my OS is windows 2000 in NTFS file system. Do I choose the procedure for AMI Bios or Non-FAT file system?
    2. For AMI case, it requires a booting diskette from win98 or win me. Can I use a booting diskette from windows xp? It is hard to find a system with win98 or win me around me.
    3. For Non-FAT file system case, I don't have a startup diskette from win 98 or win me. It says a plain boot diskette is not enough. How can I make the startup diskette from win 98 or win me?
    Any advice will be appreciated!

    You are welcome so far!
This is among other things said in the link I supplied:
"5. Boot the computer using a windows ME or windows 98 startup disk. It must be one of these! A plain boot disk will not be good enough.
If you do not have Windows ME or 98 to create the floppy you can make one on a friend's computer or download a self creating copy from a website such as www.bootdisk.com. "
To be frank, I don't think you should update, as it wont help. I'm not enough of a messerschmitt to know how to get the support for that processor, I'm afraid. But hopefully some who are good at over-clocking will come along to give the right advice. Perhaps there is a trick to fool a pin or two. If you can get your hands on a K7N2 Delta your processor is supported. It should be really cheap by now, but you will probably need a better PSU than what you have now, and the PSU should have a 4 pin 12 volt connection.

    Hi, i've installed an ASUS GeForce 3 V8200 in my K7T266 Pro2-RU.

I usually play games like UT or RTCW and when i run they i see many problem with the 3D rendering and shadow build...

I think i'll follok the Toenne suggest. The difference between the AGP 2x and 4x is very small, anyway my drivers are (un)installed correctly and i don't have any PCI card near the AGP slot. Instead i think that in the future i'll pay more attention at the temperature problem: my Athlon XP 2000+ is  hot also with a good copper cooler...
Another questios is, can anyone help me to find the best BIOS settings for my system?

  • K7T266 Pro2 RU problem and question

    Hello
I recently upgraded my CPU from an Athlon Thunderbird 1.400 to a AthlonXP 1700+ on my MSI K7T266 Pro2 -RU (MSI 6380 v2.0). The problem is that when i have the option Fast Command enabled in the bios, windows (Windows XP Professional) will crash and reboot after a couple of minutes (this happens even while i am browsing the net). With my previous CPU the fast command option didn't cause any problems. I wanted to ask if there is a way to solve the problem as the Fast Command increases the performance of my PC by 6-7%.
Also while the mobo won't support the tb2200+  will it support a lower clocked tb cpu (like 2000+)? And will i have a problem if i take an AXP2000+ and o/c it to 2200+ or 2300+?
Sorry if the above questions are already answered but its 02:40 in the morning and i don't have the courage to search the forum
    Thank you for your replies

    Pioneer DVD 106S 16x/40x
    Herolchi 350W PSU

I had the fast command problem with the 512 mb generic ram (2x256) which i replaced later with the corsair XMS 2400, so i don't think that the cause of the problem is the memory. The memory now runs at 145 at CAS2 stable.
I will try tomorrow flashing the mobo with the 3.3 bios and see if it solves it (i had the 3.6 before i installed the new cpu).
Also i read in another forum that a mobo supports up to a specific cpu because higher clocked cpus require higher current and might destroy the circuitry in the mobo. If this is not true and its just a bios support issue then i will buy a XP2000+ and will try to o/c it to FSB 145-150 (2200+ to 2300+).
Do you have the fast command enabled? I see we have the same mobo, memory and (almost) the same cpu.

  • Random Clicks and Beeps K7T266 Pro2

For a long while now I have had a small issue with my K7T266 Pro2 motherboard. Every know and than for whatever reason (never have been able to figure it out) my motherboad will click and than I will get a beep from my PC's internal speaker.
I have had this problem soo long I couldn't even tell you when it started or what the situation was when it first started to happen. I have finally decided to see anyone on these forums can help me out.
    Here are my system specs.
    400 watt power supply
    AMD 1700+ xp
Kingston 266mhz DDR ram 2 sticks of 256 megs
Geforce 4 ti 4200 (agp slot of course)
    Sound Blaster Audigy sound card
    Network card
Ati Tv-wonder (pci) card (it is just a tv tuner not another video card)
    DVD rom (ide2 master)
    CDRW (ide2 slave)
    40gig IBM 7200rpm hard drive (ide1 master)
    40gig Seagate 7200rpm hard drive (ide1 slave)
    A: drive as well.
Now the above is what my current set up is for the computer. The main components Cpu and Memory have not changed, the sound card and the DVD rom and CDRW have not changed either since I started using the current Motherboard. Everything else has changed a bit over the last couple of years but I still get the same click and beep every now and than no matter what I have changed out. Last year I even got a new box for the comp with a 400 watt power supply and still it happens.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Try remove one of the ram and see if it boot. If it doesn't boot, replace the other with the one that was removed.
If it boot with one ram, then one of the ram is bad.
If both ram will boot by itself, then try lower the memory setting in the bios.

  • K7T266 pro2 Ru v2.0 and XP 1800 problem.

    Hi folks,
Please, I need your help !!!!
I have MSi K7T266 Pro2 Ru and Xp 1600 running ok.
I did buy a new processor AMD XP 1800 with following code :
    AXDA 1800DLT3C  9505787270233
    AIUGA 0247TPMW     on black stamp
number 2791 (in gold) on corner and  "B"  in other side.
The motherboard does not boot up on first time....
thinking the problem to be the BIOS version....I did update to V 3.7.
Tryied agan , but the problem still appears....the motherboard do not boot up....all 4 led´s stay red on power on !
I did a test with 2 another motherboards : ECS K7S5A and ASUS A7V133 , these 2 run ok with processor.
Anyone know what is the problem ????
    thanks for help
    Ricardo NB

I have a K7T 266 Pro RU mainboard running the XP 2100 [and was running the XP1800]. Try reseating the CPU. Take the HSF off, take the CPU out and then reinstall it. I've had the problem once or twice on these boards and reseating the CPU seemed to solve it. As far as updating the BIOS, you don't have to add or remove anything on the board. Use the live BIOS and make sure the boot sector write protection in the BIOS is disabled.
Also note: The K7T266 Pro [any version] might have a stability problem with more that 512 MB of DDR memory. If you have more than 512MB [combinations of 1,2,3, 1GB or 3ea 256 MB or 3ea 512MB or 2 ea 512MB] your problem might be just the memory. There are many threads on K7T266 Pro stability problems with more than 512 MB or memory.

  • K7T266 PRO2-RU and Problem with a FEW DISPLAY ADAPTERS ...

    Hello ,
I was using my mainboard with 32 MB Creative Riva TNT2 Ultra until creative's fan was damaged . I tried 16 Creative TNT2 m64 display adapter of a friend of me , but it didn't work with K7T266 PRO2-RU. Many sounds are coming from mainboard while D-LED shows Testing RTC (or boot attemp, I'm not sure about that) (Same symptoms with "no graphic adapter" - I tried again after unplugged the display adapter - )
At the beginning I was thinking that the 16 MB creative graph adap. was broken . So , today I bought a new graphic adapter 128 MB of Creative 3d Blaster5 Radeon 9200SE . When I plugged it into mainboard , I saw the same problems with 16 MB Creative TNT2 m64 . After that , I found another 32 MB Creative TNT2 Ultra from my friend and it worked with my mainboard FINE .
    - I tried all of the old bioses of MSI K7T266 PRO2-RU
    - I tried to start the computer with no any other devices (such as HDD , sound card , tv card etc. ) . Only display adapter was plugged in the mainboard , but it didn't work . System hanged up everytime I tried .
    - I made some bios adjustments which are suggested at this forum ....
But none of these worked ....  ?(
What is the problem ? Why only 32 MB creative TNT2 Ultra is working with my mainboard , but 16 MB Creative TNT2 M64 and 128 MB Creative 3DBlaster5 Radeon 9200SE are not  while all of them are working FINE with an old PII mainboard . (tvout+DVI)  I'm looking forward to hear from you . , Help me please .
Ps : Can new beta bios solve that problem ?
    XP pro
    2100+ 0.18m XP CPU with coolermaster CP5
    40 GB Seagate Barracuda IV
    300 watt Codegen Power Supply
2*256 MB Kingston DDR 2100 Memory
( No floppy , no souncard , no tv card etc , no any other devices like cdrom , dvdrom , cdrw etc.)

    That's it!
I provided a few PSU's from my friends and tried 420 watt thermaltake and 520 watt VANTEC Stealth 520A PSU  ...
Same situation happened and 128 MB Creative ATI Radeon video card didn't work   ...
The problem can not be about PSU ...
I tried two different brand of fx 5200  (128 MB ) video card on my system (with 300 watt codegen PSU) . Everything is ok  .
And I also tried the RADEON card on my friend's computer which is running with 230 watt Elan Vital PSU . It worked perfectly ...
So what can I think about that situation?
The Answer is : There is something about MSI mainboard ... When I wanted to contact with support center via e-mail , I got an automated e-mail answer which is not completely able to solve any of my problems.
Besides , I saw the problems between brand new Nforce mainboard of MSI and ATI video cards ...
SO , if we get all of these informations together , we can say "THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT MSI" ...
The solution is not buying expensive PSUs...
That's really bullshit , I can buy a brand new mainboard instead of an expensive PSU.
Finally , I bought an Asus mainboard , everthing is going ok now!
I'll not buy products of MSI anymore because they didn't do anything to solve my problem . Goodbye MSIIIIII ....................................... ........

  • K7T266 Pro2-RU and Promise FastTrak100 RAID Drivers

    Hello
I am trying install my 2 new Seagate HardDisk in the IDE RAID on my K7T266 Pro2-RU motherboard without success.
MotherBoard's IDE RAID BIOS can see the two 160GB HDD that I have installed and Windows XP can not see it with the lastest BIOS v3.7 and the lastest Promise FastTrack IDE RAID Controller ( v2.0.90 Build 10 ). Both HDD are not detected by Windows XP by using F6 key, However my 2 40GB HDD are detected by Windows XP without problems.
I have 2 K7T266 Pro2-RU motherboards and they have the same problem, I think that the really the problem is the fasttrack.sys driver  Could be it updated ?
Does anyone have new Promise Drivers for Windows XP ?
    Cheers.

Yes I do, I have used that drivers for many time and they are very old in this moment because Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 160GB are not visible, only my IBM DeskStar 40GB works fine with that drivers.
I have tryed to use the last fastrtrack.sys v2.00.0.25 from Promise Technology without success which has support to large HDD above 137GB and needs BIOS update to my motherboard v2.00.0.24 in FastTrack (tm) "Lite" BIOS v2.00.1030.23.
    http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productId=15&category=driver&os=0&go=GO
I have installed Windows XP SP1 in my IBM DeskStar 40GB on IDE3-RAID and works fine, later I have installed another HDD Seagate 160GB on IDE4-RAID and Windows XP can not see it.
Later and I have put the new fasttrack.sys (v2.00.0.25) driver in Windows XP and with a reboot machine, Windows XP can see my new HDD160GB HDD like a 149.05GB unpartitioned drive ( which is corret ). When I put the old fasttrack.sys driver Windows again can not see the 160GB HDD
Later I going to install the Windows XP SP1 in the new Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 160GB and the IBM DeskStar 40GB by using F6 key and neither HDD were visibles. So I can not continue with the installion
Later I going to install WinXP again with the old drivers and once again only IBM 40GB is visible.
I need your HELP MSI Support Team.
    Thanks in Advanced.
