K7T266 Pro2 V2.0 G52-MA00434 MS 6380 with T-Bred 2400+

Hi all,
I did the Mod Yesterday with the board in the subject: Bios 3.74 and removed the Cap C37.But the PC don't start. I have no chance to come in the Bios, nothing happens!!!When i took back my athlon 1800+ everthing works fine.What can i do more?i think the cap is removed completely. Is the board ok for do this Mod or only the ru version, but i can not believe?the excuse my bad english i am from germany.Thank you.

could it be my psu is too weak?
need the 2400+ T-bred more power than my 1800+ palmino?
how much more?
I have a 4 pin (square) 12 V cable from the Power Supply Unit (PSU) but nothing on the board to drop in.K7T266 Pro2 KT266A chipset  Version2.0 G52-MA00434
did i need a new board or is it enough a new PSU?
my PSU is about 300W, how many watt i need?

  • K7T266 Pro2-A USB Drivers...

    Hi,
    I have the K7T266 Pro2-A Motherboard, I am having some problems with my USB deviced, mainly my printer. I will be in the middle of printing a large file (A 710 MB Photo) and the USB will just disconnect between the printer and the computer..
    I wanted to see if there were updated USB drivers, but I didn't know which one to install, If any.. Here's what i found:

    I Don't know if either of those are correct, or not. MSI makes it too confusing having a whole list of different motherboards with the exact same model # (IE: MS-6380) and only using different sub-model numbers.. Its really dumb..
    Neither of thease showed up on my Live Update 2..
    Thanks..

    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php    you are mose likely looking at the USB2 driver not being installed. Scroll down to the  NEC USB 2.0 Driver   section and read there.  The driver is also there.

  • Msi-6380 k7t266 pro2-ru keeps restarting

    I have just been given a  msi-6380 k7t266 pro2-ru from a friend who has just bought a new board and therefore gave me his old one. But i have plugged everything with a radeon 9000 128mb graphics card and an athlon 1400mhz and 512 2100ddr ram and the pc begins to load and the top two diagnostic leds light briefly and the buzzer beeps once and then all 4 red lights come on and the pc restarts itself.  ?(  This would indicate to me that it is a CPU problem, but i have changed the cpu with different ones and similar results occour??? ;(  Does anyone have any idea what this problem may be????? I would be very greatful for any help.
    Many Thanks

    Chris,
    Since you have a KT266 Motherboard and you posted in the nVidia/AMD/SiS Motherboard Forum, I moved the thread to Via Forum for you.

  • MSI K7T266 Pro2 (MS-6380 v2.0) no boot

    Since yesterday I have the following problem. When I restarted my pc it hung on the status (visible via the lights on the motherboard) on the 'boot attempt'. It recognizes all my drives (1x HD, 2xCDROM, 1xfloppy) and the cdrom and the floppy have a bootdisk/cd inserted. So, after the recognition of the devices it should try to boot the devices in the order specified (which I have tried in all combinations). But it just doesn't. You can hear that neither the cdroms nor the floppydrive is being used. The harddrive is empty, so it can't boot from there. But I know that the cdrom and floppy work because my motherboard does recognize them.
    And yes, my pc has worked without problems for almost 2 years and I did not remove or add any devices.
    I have a MSI K7T266 Pro2 (MS-6380 v2.0)
    Can anyone please help me?!?!?

    Hello.
    2 years running fine and all of a sudden it is not booting?
    Maybe after all this time something has finally gone wrong.
    The best way to find out what is causing the hang would be to remove all the devices,
    Remove hard drive, both cd drives and floppy drives.
    Then connect 1 at a time and try to boot from it.
    Test the floppy drive in your PC, does it boot from the boot disk?
    if it does then put the hard drive back, IDE 1 master.
    boot order floppy, hard drive
    see if it still boots from the floppy drive
    if yes then put 1 cd drive on IDE2 master, see if it boots from floppy.
    boot order floppy, CD drive ,hard drive
    if yes then put a bootable cd in the cd drive and see if it boot s from the CD drive.
    You are using bootable cd's and disks?

    Hi,
    I would like to know what is the difference between K7T266 Pro2(MS-6380 Ver3.0) and K7T266 Pro2(MS-6380 Ver2.0)?? I have the first mentioned and cant find any info about it on this site (or anywhere else).

    You know I have read all the infomation all of you.But I can't understand some think you said due to my poor english, especially to the professional words. In my mind based on https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=23762&sid= the K7T266 Pro2 (MS-6380 v2.0) can support Thoroughbred AthlonXP 2600+ after update Bios, right? But how to do with the hardware of my board? Can you explain more detail of the following modification?
    The main thing is the hardware mod, not the bios update. You have to remove C37 to run t-breds - it was explained in the link you gave us:
    Quote
    The modification is fairly simple, near the socket you find 3 big caps, near these caps you find a tiny (2x1mm) cap called C37.
    It's this C37 that needs to be removed.
    Then you must update your bios to original 3.7 (http://www.toenne-online.de/msi/6380v37.exe) or to modded 3.74 (http://www.toenne-online.de/msi/6380v374.exe).
    Works fine, done it with my k7t266pro2. Runs great with xp2400.

  • Memory module not recognized on K7T266 Pro2

    Hello.
    I have a computer with only 256 Mb of RAM and I wanted to add 256 Mb but my second memory module of 256 Mo is not recognized whereas it  functions very wel.
    Here are details :
    - Mother board : MSI K7T266 Pro2 (ms-6380 v2.0) with 3 memory slots
    - BIOS : Award Modular W6380F1 V3.0 071902
    - Memory module of origin : Samsung 256 Mo PC2100 (2 Sides)
    - New memory module : Corsair Value 256 Mo PC3200 (1 Side)
    Configs Tested :
    - Samsung only : OK
    - Corsair only : OK
    - Samsung in Slot 1 and Corsair in Slot 2 or 3 : the computer starts but with only 256 Mb of RAM (in this config, Everest Ultimate Edition finds both memory modules but also only 256 Mb of RAM)
    - Corsair in Slot 1 and Samsung in Slot 2 or 3 : the computer starts with a blank screen and several beeps.
    Can somebody help me so that my second memory module is recognized correctly ?  I specify that I did not modify the BIOS.
    I thank you by advance.

    I'm no memory expert, but from being around here I've learned that there is more to a stick of RAM than the MHz speed. If timings etc were perfectly the same for the 3200 and the 2100, the system (the Northbridge) could simply set down memory speed to the slowest of the sticks.
    However, I also know that many have been helped by entering BIOS, Advanced Chipset..., and go to the subtitle Memory timings controlled by..., and change from By SPD to By User. Then manually set down to 133 (266 effectively). This is if you absolutely want these two sticks.

  • New Bios for K7T266 Pro2-RU

    Hi All,
    Are there any new bios' for the K7T266 PRO2-RU (i.e., above 3.7), that will support the AMD 2200+, 2400+ Processors once the Modification is done?
    Thanks.
    Craig

    Hi,
    The K7T266pro2 (MS-6380 V2.0) needs the modification to support all the latest 266FSB (TBred) CPU's because there is a timing change, removing the capicitor solves this and allows you to get the CPU starting.
    MSI's official statement is that they don't support this as the board is long out of production.
    However, they where nice enough to give us the modification in order to give you the posibility to get it running.
    They're plan was to stop releasing BIOS'ses at v3.60 because there was no need to release another.
    I convinced them to release 3.70 that has updated CPU-ID code for all 266FSB CPU's, and no again, they still don't support any CPU over the fastest Palomino officialy.
    What they did was giving us the posibility to use an outdated board a bit longer, be happy about that.
    As for the testing of CPU's on this board, that stopped at BIOS 3.50...
    Any given board will fade away at some point in time, thanks to MSI (unofficialy), the K7T266pro2 with the modification can be used a bit longer......
    All you need for the right multiplier is leave it at auto....as the correct one is hardcoded on the CPU itself...

  • K7T266 Pro2 RU problem and question

    Hello
    I recently upgraded my CPU from an Athlon Thunderbird 1.400 to a AthlonXP 1700+ on my MSI K7T266 Pro2 -RU (MSI 6380 v2.0). The problem is that when i have the option Fast Command enabled in the bios, windows (Windows XP Professional) will crash and reboot after a couple of minutes (this happens even while i am browsing the net). With my previous CPU the fast command option didn't cause any problems. I wanted to ask if there is a way to solve the problem as the Fast Command increases the performance of my PC by 6-7%.
    Also while the mobo won't support the tb2200+  will it support a lower clocked tb cpu (like 2000+)? And will i have a problem if i take an AXP2000+ and o/c it to 2200+ or 2300+?
    Sorry if the above questions are already answered but its 02:40 in the morning and i don't have the courage to search the forum
    Thank you for your replies

    Pioneer DVD 106S 16x/40x
    Herolchi 350W PSU

    I had the fast command problem with the 512 mb generic ram (2x256) which i replaced later with the corsair XMS 2400, so i don't think that the cause of the problem is the memory. The memory now runs at 145 at CAS2 stable.
    I will try tomorrow flashing the mobo with the 3.3 bios and see if it solves it (i had the 3.6 before i installed the new cpu).
    Also i read in another forum that a mobo supports up to a specific cpu because higher clocked cpus require higher current and might destroy the circuitry in the mobo. If this is not true and its just a bios support issue then i will buy a XP2000+ and will try to o/c it to FSB 145-150 (2200+ to 2300+).
    Do you have the fast command enabled? I see we have the same mobo, memory and (almost) the same cpu.

  • Using K7T266 Pro2, Cannot find BIOS Protection function.

    I am using K7T266 Pro2 (MS-6380 v2.0) with BIOS update 3.70. I was reading the manual and suddenly I found a interesting function “BIOS Protection”, quote from manual:
    Quote
    This function protects the BIOS from accidental corruption by unauthorized users or computer viruses. When enabled, the BIOS’ data cannot be changed when attempting to update the BIOS with a Flash utility. To successfully update the BIOS, you’ll need to disable this Flash BIOS
    This is a really useful function but the problem is that I cannot find it! According to the manual it should be in the Advanced Chipset Features section, below the “PCI Delay Transaction” function. But when I go to my BIOS setup there is nothing below the “PCI Delay Transaction” function. And so I ask my self “where is the BIOS Protection function?”, I checked threw all the other sections but I could not find it… please help me, where is this function? Doesn't it include in the new BIOS update 3.70? Is anyone experiencing the same thing?

    I'm assuming that by this you mean it does not support a network boot?
    The reason why I say this is that I recently restored my K7T266 PRO2-RU BIOS Rev. 3.7 using Symantec Ghost Corp. Edition (MultiCast Server).  The Ghost image was stored on a remote machine, all that was needed was a floppy disk which was simple enough to configure using the wizard.  I had no problems -  BUT that doesn't mean the thing (my motherboard) isn't flakey as hell though.

    But why haven't they included the BIOS protection feature in the newer updates? It's not like it would demand more programming becouse it already works for ther older BIOS version. And the feature is really great for protection agains BIOS killing viruses! so whats the harm of including a great feature that already includes in the older version? I guess that many don't have the answer, but If you don't do you have any suggestions of why MSI didn't include this feature in the newer BIOS version?

  • K7T266 Pro2 incompatibilty problem with Nvidia GeForce4 Ti4200

    I just bought the GeForce4 Ti 4200 from Siluro and installed it on my MSI K7T266 Pro2 MB and have since then experienced some problems when booting XP pro.
    Everything seems to work fine untill the very last application loads in XP after boot. Then the screen turn white, the mouse cursor becomes a black and white stripped square and the system reboots automatically. Generally after second boot, evreything seems to work fine but I get an XP error message stating that "the Nvidia Geforce4 TI 4200 drivers may be the origin of the critical problem encountered".
    I have all lastest drivers for both the MB (Bios 3.7 + lastest VIA drivers) and the Nvidia GeForce (Detonator 41.09) and yet experience the problem... Help!!

  • K7t266 pro2 ru freeze

    Hello.
    I purchased this motherboard on 2002.
    This is my config:
    Hardware:
    Mobo MSI 6380 k7t266 pro2 ru (via kt266a chipset)
    CPU AMD Athlon 1800+ Palomino core (no overclock)
    RAM Kingston DDR PC2100/266 MHz (no overclock)
    Videocard Triplex Millennium Silver Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64 Mb Ram (no overclock)
    Analog TV card miroMEDIA PCTV
    Digital Satellite TV Card Hauppauge Nexus-s (has mpeg2 hardware decoder onboard)
    sound card CMI/C-media 8338 4ch (mobo's internal AC97 disabled)
    ISDN TA card Asuscom PCI internal P-IN-100 ISDNLink
    Software:
    Microsoft XP SP2 slipstreamed, totally "windowsupdated"
    Via drivers 4-in-1 "Hyperion" 4.51 installed (latest)
    Promise FastTrak 100 Raid controller Driver 2.0.0.0 (latest)
    Nvidia drivers Detonators 56.72 WHQL installed (not latest but working very well)
    C-media driver for 8738/c3dx 5.12.1.0 (forced but perfectly working! and latest)
    Bt 848 generic BtPCI WDM drivers (for the miroMEDIA PCTV, but tried even with pinnacle 4.* VFW drivers and 5.* WDM drivers)
    Hauppauge Drivers 2.18c (latest)
    The problem is this:
    when i'm watching tv, from the analog or the digital card, if i do something on one of the hard disks (on the raid or not, ntfs or not), like transfer file, search a file, or something very HEAVY that requires high data rates on the hdds, the system freezes, EVERYTIME!
    I read on this forum about the pci latency unofficial patch by george i-dun-remember-who, but even installing it, it didn't help.
    What i must do? The system works not so bad in other situations, so how can i fix this problem?
    I get mad when the system freeze 'cause i need to hard-reset everytime and i think this can do damage on xp files :(
    Please, if anyone has this same problem and fixed it, help me!!!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there.
    @Fredrik Åsenius:
    Look, i was wrong about cas latency, it was 2,5 set by SPD, not 2. For the HD disks, they are ALL cooled by fans of 4x4 or 5x5 (cm), that i obviously clean regularly, so you can understand that i touched they with the finger and they are kinda at ambient temp.
    Anyway, this are the pci card placings:
    Slot 1 -> empty
    Slot 2 -> miroMedia PCTV card
    Slot 3 -> Asuscom ISDN TA card
    Slot 4 -> C-media/CMI 8338 audiocard
    Slot 5 -> Hauppauge Nexus-s DVB-S TV card
    More infos: like i said in the first post, I ever installed from the beginning, that means when i fresh installed xpsp2, the "PCI Latency timer patch" from George Breese (now i remember him ^^) from this page http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/#PCI, but didn't help.
    Actually i followed the hint from MGP, and a little more, so i tried to enable wait states, delayed transactions and stuff, and disable fastwrite, low agp x factor (from 4x to 2x), even highen PCI Latency timer in the BIOS to 248, the maximum, and seems that the situation is better, i tried to watch tv (from the Nexus-s with Progdvb) and do a search on all my hd, the system didn't freezed and the video didn't glitched as before. Only when i ran the PC Alert's Cooler XP, continuing watching dvb-s tv and continuing searching, the system freezed. Well, a little better but i'm investigating some more: i was asking and googling if there's a PCI test bench software but had no luck, a guy from irc told me to try Sandra and Aida. Actually i tried Sandra, the latest, and read about the pci card infos.
    I found an interesting thing: not all pci card have the same PCI Latency timer, there are some that has a personal entry. I googled for PCI Latency timer again and found a program named PCI Latency Tool 3, that let you set every card's timer separately. This program shows exactly the same settings as Sandra, so i'm sure that is good working ^^
    Actually i reset the timer at the default entry, 64, and this is the entry list of every card's PCI Latency timer:
    miroMEDIA PCTV                       -> 64
    Asuscom ISDN                          -> 16
    C-media/CMI 8338 card              -> 64
    Hauppauge Nexus-s                   -> 255
    This are the timings of the other pci related and mobo integrated devices:
    CPU to PCI bridge                     -> 0
    PCI to AGP bridge                     -> 0
    PCI to ISA bridge                      -> 0
    Controller IDE VIA BusMaster      -> 32
    Promise Fasttrak 100 Raid ctrl     -> 32
    Microstar (NEC) USB 2.0 ctrl       -> 64
    Nec Usb ctrl 1                          -> 64
    Nec Usb ctrl 2                          -> 64
    And finally this is the timing of the AGP card:
    Nvidia geforce 4 ti 4200 agp4x    -> 248
    I dunno if there's something wrong so i didn't changed anything, but i think that's the Nexus-s timing is really high and over the maximum allowed by the mobo, so can be this the problem cause... if not i dunno where to hit my head
    @ osnavi:
    No, i dun think can be the power supply not enough, i dun have a friend with a better one but i tried uninstalling all the others cards (sound, pctv, isdn) and all the other Hd and the dvd-rw too, so only the basic needed to try: mobo + cpu + ram + agp card + dvb-s card + 2xhd 80gigs, and did exactly the same... well, i dun think now that 17 A is not enough, even if it's not so the minimum... Ah, did i said that it did the same even with a "low power" gefo2mx ? well i'll write it again :p ^_^
    @MGP:
    I know that's not an MSI fault and is a Via fault... but it got me sad, cause i like MSI hardware and stuff, but this bad experience, and more of this no support at all from the manufacturer.... well is no good :p
    For the other things look above, i tried but i dun think agp stuff is related.... I think that is pci latency related, cause i know that i.e. eide or raid performances are not so good. Thinking that when my issue pops out is exactly when i'm watching tv and doing hd stuff, that means poor eide or raid.. or pci performance, than here comes out that it can be only this the cause.
    Ah, i dunno if i told you all, guys:
    watching tv from the pctv analog card (and i mean at maximum resolution of pal 768x576) or from the dvb-s card (with hardware mpeg2 decoder that means 720x576) means that there's needed a maximum bandwidth of 32 MB/s (it means: 768x576 for frame x 25 frame per second x 3 bytes color (32 bits/8 =3 bytes) = 32 megabytes for every second), that's pretty much, but not to saturate pci bw. The matter is when 32 MB/s is occupied and the eide or raid needs bw: the chipset seems to freeze cause can't manage well the bw needings, and so is related to the latency timer.
    Sorry again for longness ^^

  • K7T266 Pro2-RU

    I recently purchased the K7T266 Pro2-RU MS-6380 Ver2.0 mobo.  I am getting conflicting information on which Athlon XP cpu's are supported.  The web site states "Supports 800MHz up to 2100+ MHz processor" and the Quick User's Guide states "800MHz up to 1800+ MHz processor".
    I would like to purchase the fastest cpu supported.  Please inform me of my options.

  • K7T266 Pro2-RU & DDR333 ???

    Hello!
    I just ran head-first into a serious problem:
    I had a VERY, VERY reliable PC which ran with total memory of 3 x 512 mb. They were Kingston-brand, KVR266X64C25/512 memory modules designed for 266 MHz (PC2100).
    I did not do anything else, but replace those three DIMMs with newer ones; also Kingston-brand, but KVR333X64C25/512 memory modules designed for 333 MHz (PC2700) operation.
    The computer turned to be completely unstable. Now, if I run it with only ONE of those in place, it works great; no problems/crashes at all. Add a second, and .... no good, no good at all!
    Upgraded BIOS to version 3.7 in hope to resolve the crashing but no help. Default BIOS settings basically, no tricks done. Tried also to fiddle around with memory settings but no good; they are back to defaults now (SPD/SPD).
    What I'd like to know is: CAN my M/B run these memory DIMMs @ 266 MHz?? SHOULD they work?? I have no intention/need to overclock.
    Here's what I have:
    K7T266 Pro2-RU (6380 v2.0)
    AMD Athlon XP 1800 + (1.53 GHz)
    2 x IBM Deskstar 60GXP 60 Gb drives (RAID-1)
    3 x KVR333X64C25/512 (Creative 3D Blaster GeForce 3 Titanium 500
    2 x 3Com Fast Etherlink 3C905C-TX-M
    Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Platinum
    Liteon DVD-ROM LTD-163
    Liteon CD-RW LTR-32123S
    I don't remember my power supply right now (I edit it here later when home), but I think it is 340 W. At least 300.

    I have no idea whether the old were or new ones are buffered or unbuffered. Kingston's web page does not say it in their product description.
    The specs for these memory modules can be found here (PDF):
    266MHz: http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KVR266X64C25_512.pdf
    333MHz: http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KVR333X64C25_512.pdf
    The only difference, apart speeds, are that the components used on modules are:
    the 333 uses 4M x 8-bit x 4 Bank / 166 MHz
    the 266 uses 8M x 8-bit x 4 Bank / 133 MHz
    Amount of these components in both are 16 (the memory chips themselves).
    Please note that the DIMMs themselves are supposed to be exact same except of course the speeds are different! Even the model numbers suggests that...
