>Correct bios for ver. 2.0.
The name of the bios file should be a6380vms.370! The ms6593 is a different board (k7t266pro2 -u/ul ver. 1.0, >link).
Bad luck, maybe he killed his board. Try to flash the correct bios. If this doesn't work try the BIOS boot recovery feature as described in http://www.msi.com.tw/html/support/bios/note/boot.htm .
If problem still persists, you would need to purchase new BIOS chip from Websites like http://www.flashbios.org where you can order a new BIOS or you can also contact MSI office near your place to purchase new BIOS chip http://www.msi.com.tw/html/contact/contact.htm .
Important: Don't forget to reset the cmos after flashing ( Clear CMOS Guide).

  • K7T266 Pro2 RU, Raid-0 & Linux

    When I try to install either Red Hat 8.0 or Mandrake 9.0 on my K7T266 Pro2 RU, which has 2 x 40GB drives configured as RAID-0 (ie 1 x 80GB), both versions of Linux see the two physical drives and not the one logical stripe array. Why? It almost seems that the Linux drivers for the Promise 20265R are treating the raid channels and normal IDE channels. I want to install Linux onto the RAID-0 stripe!
    I have searched for guides/tutorials on installing Linux on RAID, but all the ones I found only talked about RAID-1 (Mirroring).
    Windows 2000/XP only sees the one logical drive.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Chris.

    The installer is wrecking the /etc/raidtab file when trying to detect existing raid arrays.
    Solution: Format a floppy disk with a DOS filesystem (in Linux, you can use the command "mkdosfs /dev/fd0"). Copy
    use detect_devices;
    package detect_devices;
    log::l("PATCHING");
    *raidAutoStartRaidtab = sub {
        my (@parts) = @_;
        log::l("patched raidAutoStartRaidtab");
        $::isInstall or return;
        require raid;
        #- faking a raidtab, it seems to be working )
        #- (choosing any inactive md)
        raid::inactivate_all();
        foreach (@parts) {
       my ($nb) = grep { !raid::is_active("md$_") } 0..7;
       output("/tmp/raidtab", "raiddev /dev/md$nb\n  device " . devices::make($_->{device}) . "\n");
       run_program::run('raidstart', '-c', "/tmp/raidtab", devices::make("md$nb"));
        unlink "/tmp/raidtab";
    use raid;
    package raid;
    *prepare_prefixed = sub {
        my ($raids, $prefix) = @_;
        log::l("patched prepare_prefixed");
        $raids or return;
        &write($raids, "/etc/raidtab") if ! -e "/etc/raidtab";
        eval { cp_af("/etc/raidtab", "$prefix/etc/raidtab") };
        foreach (grep { $_ } @$raids) {
       devices::make("$prefix/dev/$_->{device}") foreach @{$_->{disks}};
     to the floppy disk. Remove the floppy and reboot using the Mandrake Linux 9.0 CD1 to do a CD-ROM installation. During boot, press F1 at the splash screen, then place your floppy disk that contains patch.pl in the floppy drive. At the prompt, type "patch", then follow the installation as usual.
    Hope that helps

  • K7T266 Pro2 & new hard disk

    Hi
    I have just upgraded my K7T266 Pro2 with a 2400+ chip (with modification & bios) and upgraded RAM to 1 GB. All works OK.
    Now I am trying to put in a new 250 GB Western Digital hard disk and installing Windows XP Pro from scratch and I am running into problems. The hard disk is on the main IDE connectors.
    The BIOS recognises the hard disk. When installing Windows XP, it seems to only detect a 131 GB disk!. Windows installs but when the computer reboots as part of the installation, the hard disk will not boot, even when forced as the fist boot device.
    If I boot from the Windows CD and go through the install again same problem.
    Any suggestions?

    harrisc:
    You mentioned that you updated the BIOS - the last release (1.9) had a note that it "Support Maxtor 160GB HDD (4G160J8)" so I would expect the board to support the 250 Gb WD drive, as well.
    The problem probably is in Windows - XP versions before SP1 did not support 48 bit LBA (Logical Block Addressing) which is needed for drives larger than 131 Gb to be recognized.
    Here is a link to the Microsoft Knowledge Base article with a 'fix':
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q303013
    If your installation disk is a pre SP1 then that's the problem; if it's SP1 or SP2 then there IS a BIOS limit (contrary to what I assumed above).  Your best bet then is to partition the drive with a ~50 Gb primary and 200 Gb extended partition and live with two logical drives.
    Good luck,

  • K7T266 PRO2 RU constant freezing! need help!

    Ok, after two weeks reading every thread in this forum that has this word "K7T266" on it, i decided to write these lines:
    My good k7t266 pro2 ru stopped working a few weeks ago, i thought it was the cpu processor (athlon 1800+, i think thorougbred), the thing is that windows xp gots freeze randomly, i have reinstalled almost 10 times, trying everytime different bios combinations (version 3.3 through 3.7) and different settings (the ones written in some tweak/perfomance threads here), i have also tried three different power supplys (250W,350W and 400W) (amps always exceeded your recomendations on other threads), i also have tried different memorys in different combinations (1 bank, 2 banks, etc), tried too 2 different video cards (gforce 4200ti 128mb from evga and a gf4 440mx from excalibur i think), i have removed every other card (nic, usb connectors, etc), also have tried with a different hard disk (40 gb and 60 gb from maxtor and western digital). Tried cleaning and adding new thermal paste to the HSF (is the one that comes with the cpu), tried connectin the cpu fan to the power supply, tried with a different cpu (athlon 1300, palomino i think). I dont remember what else i tested, oh, i have it totally "naked" (no case) , i can send you pictures of it , oh, another thing i tried different via drivers (none, 4.43 and 4.49) , and windows xp has sp1. Ok, i dont remember anything else by now, i am buying a kt6 delta (i saw bas loved it) it must arrive this tuesday but i dont want to throw the k7t266 to the trash, it seems to me that there is some bad capacitor (they dont look abnormal, i have fixed msi boards with blown and inflated capacitors before). Ok , i  just wanted to know that i really need your help here, dont know what else to say. Thanks a lot for your answers.   :(

    Ok, i am not at home to test the voltage thing that h2O proposed (i tried once but was afraid of burning cpu and memory, these things arent cheap in venezuela), and about the temps, they were around 40 (idle) and 50 (playing battlefield1942) (it's very hot in my room), that's why i got the board undressed (no case at all, just PS) . H2O , can you please help me with the voltage thing ? which values are safe and can be tested? tomorrow i will have the kt6 delta but i still want to know if the k7t266 can be used or sold.
    Other things
    - i have cleared cmos everytime i changed settings proposed here.
    - i have clean installed xp (format c: partition) , BTW it sometimes got freeze during the first stages at installation , specially if i set FSB to 133.
    - i did not tried to overclock (too hot and too expensive to try, i can not afford and/or find a better cooling device (water, best fan, etc)).
    Again, i would really appreciate any help you can give to this poor bastard  ;(
    PS: sorry for my english, it's not my native language.

  • Using K7T266 Pro2, Where is the BIOS Protection?

    I am using K7T266 Pro2 (MS-6380 v2.0) with BIOS update 3.70. I was reading the manual and suddenly I found a interesting function “BIOS Protection”, quote from manual:
    Quote
    This function protects the BIOS from accidental corruption by unauthorized users or computer viruses. When enabled, the BIOS’ data cannot be changed when attempting to update the BIOS with a Flash utility. To successfully update the BIOS, you’ll need to disable this Flash BIOS
    This is a really useful function but the problem is that I cannot find it! According to the manual it should be in the Advanced Chipset Features section, below the “PCI Delay Transaction” function. But when I go to my BIOS setup there is nothing below the “PCI Delay Transaction” function. And so I ask my self “where is the BIOS Protection feature?”, I checked threw all the other sections but I could not find it… Please help me, where is this function? Doesn't it include in the new BIOS update 3.70? Is anyone experiencing the same problem?

    But why haven't they included the BIOS protection feature in the newer updates? It's not like it would demand more programming becouse it already works for ther older BIOS version. And the feature is really great for protection agains BIOS killing viruses! so whats the harm of including a great feature that already includes in the older version? I guess that many don't have the answer, but If you don't do you have any suggestions of why MSI didn't include this feature in the newer BIOS version?

  • Newbie Freaking Out-K7T266 Pro2-A Shutdown, then startup

    I had built a computer for myself, and it runs like a dream. It has the AMD Athlon XP 1800+ with the KT3 Ultra 2 Mainboard. I had no problems with it. Then, I decided to build one for my husband, but chose the K7T266 Pro2-A Mainboard with the same processor. (I am clearly waaay over my head right now). When I try and shut down the computer, I get a small click coming from the inside of the tower speaker, barely audible(similar to the small sound you get when you are installing a new driver, and it pops up to tell you that the disk is not in the drive????), then it attempts to shut down, only to reboot a split second later. Either it reboots fine, or it hangs onto a black screen, and emits 3 long beeps.
    I desparately need some help here. I am going by the book (PC Building for Dummies" (please, don't run and hide....I am trying to learn!), and it helped me out a great deal on the first computer. This one has got me stumped. I also downloaded the new version of the boards bios last night, but it did not help. I also opened it up, re-seated the wires to the front switched, as well as the d-bracket, memory, video card, and modem. I went into the Advanced power management and disabled everything.
    System Info:
    K7T266 Pro2-A Mainboard
    Bios 5.6
    CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1800+
    GenForce 4 MX 440 64MB D
    Memory DDR PC2100 256MB
    Modem: HSP56 Micromodem
    O/S: Win98SE (Updated, as well as downloaded the shutdown patch)
    Please...I really jumped the gun when I started this thing. I should have studied up more on all the technical info, but I have been known to just jump in and do it. I have learned my lesson. I am bowing to all the computer technicians right now.  ;(

    I had that problem with a computer I recently built.  Try swapping the power supply out of your other computer.  I bought a cheapo case and the motherboard couldnt shut the power supply off.
    Good luck! :D

  • K7T266 Pro2 RU repaired but...

    Hello.
    Long time no see, I'm back now ^^
    Since the glorious times of my first Socket A system, much water have flowed on rivers so to say that many things happened, to me and in the world.
    Well, ok, to make long story short here's the thing.
    Some time ago (iirc some years) I were trying some spare hardware I have and when I was trying my old K7T266 Pro2 RU motherboard, after some tests, I did a mistake: I didn't installed properly a stick of ram, being partially inserted on one side and not fixed properly in its slot, so, forgetting and/or not noticing it, I switched on the motherboard and the poor board "poofed" out dead. The component that burned was nearby the ram slots, named D7 on the board and it was an SS12, a schottky diode: I thought so that replacing it would have sufficed to bring the board back to life, so I went to a tech assistance shop and they gave me an SS14 diode, claiming that it have the same characteristics of the SS12 being it just stronger than the earlier and that it can stand some more voltage, so I bought it for a few euro.
    After that I left all the mess apart since I lost interest to it, until now that I decided to try to fix the motherboard with the new component and see it I were right about it, but here came the first problem: when I were trying to unsolder the old burnt diode, it was really difficult, first off because it was too near the ram slots (so I were fearing to melt the plastics of the retention system), second off because the pin on the opposite side of the ram slots wasn't wanting to let go the track it was soldered! I struggled much to make it let go and after I succeeded, luckily, the track under was lifted from the board and I found it even cut!
    After swearing all of my calendar (don't mind about this, it's something we do much in italy, not always tho :P), I then tried to solder the new diode: it wasn't so difficult, and luckily i managed to sold back the cut track rejoining it and, because the whole thing wasn't so fix, I put even a drop of Superattak glue (cyanoacrylate): the result was very good, even tho couldn't be as if it nothing happened, but acceptable in general.
    I tried then to reinstall it on one of my old case desktop ATX lying around, throwed my old Athlon XP 1800+ Palomino and a stick of 256 MB DDR266 from an old Intel celeron 1.7GHz Willamette rig I got recently, and powered it up again: first attempt didn't do anything, after some cable checking (I don't remember now but maybe I reversed the reset and power on switches plugs ^^) it finally run... and *drum roll* it even did the POST! I was happy, then, and was thinking that everything were going the good way. But Murphy is always hiding somewhere, so my happiness wasn't lasting long.
    Ok, then, I decided to try to test it again to see if the hardware is still going, so I tried to install windows XP on a spare maxtor 80gib I had lying around, but with no much luck: firsts attempts hanged many times always on the same step (still on the early blue text-only screens), so I decided to try to run a memtest first, to check it before everything, and here comes the new main issue.
    I've installed memtest86+ v4.20 on an old 256 mb usb pendrive, successfully, because I needed to test the ram on some other computers, so I had the thing already ready for the task: I inserted it on one of the onboard usb plug (the v1.1 ones: naturally on the usb 2.0 it's not even detected) and tried to boot the board from it. Failing.
    I then tried it again on other computers: first my notebook, then some other rigs and all of them run the test correctly. To be sure I reinstalled the memtest on the pendrive, to no avail.
    I've tried to change the ram stick, I've plugged a 512 MB DDR400 one (not the one of the incident, but surely a working one, since I tried it successfully on other rigs), and change the slot too, still to no avail.
    The pendrive "boots", but it hangs prompting me:

    No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!
    Boot:
    What should I do?
    Is it because of the USB 1.1?
    Or maybe a BIOS issue?
    Or is it really my motherboard that's still TFU? I really hope not, I want to make it work again :(
    Anyway, of anybody of you that still have this glorious motherboard, can you please tell me if you can run memtest86+ from one of the ONBOARD USB (1.1) plugs?
    I take it from here, btw: http://www.memtest.org/ (http://www.memtest.org/download/4.20/memtest86+-4.20.usb.installer.zip to be correct).
    Please answer me, thank you in advance!!
    Edit: I forgot to say that I did the c37 removal mod for making the board compatible with 0.13 µ cpus, successfully, natuarlly :P

    Looks like the harddisk is broken.
    As it complains about the partitions just like XP does.
    No, I tried to boot the memtest from usb disconnecting everything else, so no hdd and no cd/dvd. I also tried to disable every integrated periferal and device: fdc, serials and parallel, midi, game, ide, raid, audio, modem and usb (1.1 naturally).
    Btw when I said that it complains about the partitions? :o
    Quote from: eagle3 on 06-February-12, 20:58:32
    Try memtest on a cd and boot from that; or use a linux live cd. Or the marvellous Ultimate Boot cd. http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
    Also that board was built around the time of the bad cap debacle..
    I think I would have binned it..
    I followed your suggestion (but I thought it by myself too) and tried with the cd version of memtest86+, burning the iso onto a brand new cd (sigh, so much space wasted :p), and tried it: it finally worked, and I found that the 256 Mib ddr266 stick isn't compatible with the board, since the test didn't even started, another stick of 512 Mib ddr333 got errors (even 1 is too much to me, but it didn't have only 1 error), and finally the 512 Mib ddr400 tested fine for about 2 hours! That's a relieve ^^
    Unluckily even using the good working ram, it still don't want to boot memtest86+ from the usb pendrive.
    I still ask to anyone with my same board if they can do the same test, just to be sure that's just the board that can't boot properly from usb, or maybe a little incompatibility with my old pendrive.
    Thanks for now.

  • K7T266 Pro2-RU won't start DVD rom drive

    Hi,
    I have a K7T266 Pro2-RU MB running XP 1800+. I have been using it for over a year. Recently, I found out that I need to add a new HD to my system as I was running out of HD space. Let's start by giving my original system spec:
    K7T266 Pro2-RU
    512 MB DDR2100 RAM Kingston
    Althon XP1800+
    windows XP professional sp1
    2 WD 80GB raid0 connected to IDE 3 and 4
    IDE 1 master 16X DVD-rom
    IDE 2 master 48X CDRW
    I purchased and added a 120GB WD 7200 RPM (2MB model) to IDE 1 slave. Initially, everything was happy. I partition the new 120 GB into 3 logical drives each for 40GB. Last week, I decided to repartition the 120GB into 1 120 GB.  The DVD-rom stopped functioning. Windows XP said it won't start (error code 10). I un-installed and let windows re-installed its driver and it still won't start. I re-partitioned the 120GB HD into 2 60 GB HDs and same problem. I have not tried re-partition the 120 GB into 3 HDs again. But I will later this week. Does anybody know what the problem may be?
    My MB is running the next to the latest version of the Bios (I just checked last night).
    Does anybody know what the problem may be?
    Any comment is welcome.
    David

    wonkanoby,
    thanks for your help. After opening up my case, I tried setting my 120 GB HD to master jumper and the DVD to slave. They both remained on the same IDE port. It seems to have solve the problem. I am crossing my finger for this one. If it fails again later, I will try your suggestion.
    Again, thanks for your help.
    David :D

  • K7T266 Pro2-RU & DDR333 ???

    Hello!
    I just ran head-first into a serious problem:
    I had a VERY, VERY reliable PC which ran with total memory of 3 x 512 mb. They were Kingston-brand, KVR266X64C25/512 memory modules designed for 266 MHz (PC2100).
    I did not do anything else, but replace those three DIMMs with newer ones; also Kingston-brand, but KVR333X64C25/512 memory modules designed for 333 MHz (PC2700) operation.
    The computer turned to be completely unstable. Now, if I run it with only ONE of those in place, it works great; no problems/crashes at all. Add a second, and .... no good, no good at all!
    Upgraded BIOS to version 3.7 in hope to resolve the crashing but no help. Default BIOS settings basically, no tricks done. Tried also to fiddle around with memory settings but no good; they are back to defaults now (SPD/SPD).
    What I'd like to know is: CAN my M/B run these memory DIMMs @ 266 MHz?? SHOULD they work?? I have no intention/need to overclock.
    Here's what I have:
    K7T266 Pro2-RU (6380 v2.0)
    AMD Athlon XP 1800 + (1.53 GHz)
    2 x IBM Deskstar 60GXP 60 Gb drives (RAID-1)
    3 x KVR333X64C25/512 (Creative 3D Blaster GeForce 3 Titanium 500
    2 x 3Com Fast Etherlink 3C905C-TX-M
    Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Platinum
    Liteon DVD-ROM LTD-163
    Liteon CD-RW LTR-32123S
    I don't remember my power supply right now (I edit it here later when home), but I think it is 340 W. At least 300.

    I have no idea whether the old were or new ones are buffered or unbuffered. Kingston's web page does not say it in their product description.
    The specs for these memory modules can be found here (PDF):
    266MHz: http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KVR266X64C25_512.pdf
    333MHz: http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KVR333X64C25_512.pdf
    The only difference, apart speeds, are that the components used on modules are:
    the 333 uses 4M x 8-bit x 4 Bank / 166 MHz
    the 266 uses 8M x 8-bit x 4 Bank / 133 MHz
    Amount of these components in both are 16 (the memory chips themselves).
    Please note that the DIMMs themselves are supposed to be exact same except of course the speeds are different! Even the model numbers suggests that...

  • K7T266 PRO2-RU stability problems

    In the last few months I've been experiencing general stability issues with my K7T266 PRO2-RU.  In attempts to try and resolve these issues I've flashed the BIOS, updated drivers, reinstalled Windows numerous times, checked for leaking capacitors and reduced the machine to nothing more than the essential hardware (video card, memory, processor).
    In troubleshooting I've discovered very little, except that none of these things have been very successful and some odd things that are outlined below.
    1. The machine still randomly reboots, and programs crash inexplicably without error.
    2. WindowsXP invariably hangs during installation to the RAID controller (RAID 0).  I've tried various driver versions but all reproduce a similar result.  I suspected there may be a problem with the drives, but that doesn't appear to be the case as it does this regardless of the drives used - 2 Maxtor DiamondMax Plus D740X'(s).  It also does this when using 2 Western Digital WD300BB'(s) and new cables, so I know it is NOT my drives.  Windows will install to one drive but is as previously stated - unstable.
    3.  I've tested the machine using another video card, in addition to running the video card and the memory in my other box, of which both cards are good and run rock solid under stress testing.
    Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.
    Here's the config:
    MSI K7T266 PRO2-RU (Bios Rev. 3.7)
    Athlon 1800+ (Not OC'd)
    256MB Corsair XMS PC2400 (x2)
    Asus GeForce 6800
    Maxtor DiamondMax Plus D740X (x2)
    Creative SB Audigy Platinum
    3Com 3C905B NIC
    Enermax EG-465P VE
    Thanks...

    Thanks for the suggestion,
    While I was waiting to see if anyone would quickly reply I read through previous posts to the forum and found a link to memtest86.  I've already tested one module to isolate bank 0 as known good and it passed.  2nd attempt I put both modules in, 1 in bank 0 and the other in bank 2.  I began receiving errors only after 5 min.  I never suspected this would be the problem as I tested the memory in another machine and previously with an obviously inferior memory test app and it passed.  No big deal though, at least now I've discovered the problem.
    I'm now doing additional testing to the suspect module.
    (Errors in Bank 2 - Next trying it in Bank 0 which I know worked, just to rule out a possibly defective bank)
    Update:
    Errors all over the place in Bank 0,1, and 2 - Looks like the module took the dirt nap.  Time to use that lifetime warranty.
    Thanks again.

  • K7T266 Pro2 RU V2.0 - 250Gb HDD?

    Hi folks, Ive been reading though these threads but havent found an answer yet.
    I have a K7T266 Pro2 RU motherboard and I have connected a 250gb hdd to one of the ide ports.
    I have partitioned (in dos) and formatted it into a whole drive. WinXP shows the 250gb drive but only shows 130 odd gb available.
    I conducted research that has suggested that there is a 137gb limit caused by older versions of bios on this board, though Im not sure how correct this is.
    It currently has ami bios a6380ms v3.2.
    Has anybody found a solution without updating their bios? I have already attempted updating and have been unsuccessful. I will post the error messages I received during bios operation if there is no other solution.
    Thanks in anticipation.

    I do now.
    Windows recognises the whole disk, and its also fixed my usb2.0 ports which I had long since given up on!
    Chalk one for microsoft.
    Cheers!

  • K7T266 Pro2-RU Not Booting

    Hello,
    I recently got a MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU motherboard and an AMD XP2000+ processor. When I turn it on, I get the 4 red lights and no boot. I flashed the bios with the newest version, and it still won't work. I read in the bios history that 2000+ is supported, so I have no idea what's going on. My old 1ghz tbird works fine with the motherboard.
    I run Win 2000
    Radeon 9800 pro (actually just installed it along with the processor)
    PC2100 DDR 256 (x2)
    3 HD's (2 40gb are raided, other is 20gb)
    Power Supply I believe is 300w
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Well the chip I got was retail.  Does that mean its Tbred?
    So that means soldering then eh?
    Say I puss out on doing it, or mess up doing it, which board should I get instead?
    edit:  Also, why does the bios page say that the motherboard supports a 2000+ when it doesn't? (without the mod)

  • K7T266 pro2 Ru v2.0 and XP 1800 problem.

    Hi folks,

    Tryied agan , but the problem still appears....the motherboard do not boot up....all 4 led´s stay red on power on !
    I did a test with 2 another motherboards : ECS K7S5A and ASUS A7V133 , these 2 run ok with processor.

    I have a K7T 266 Pro RU mainboard running the XP 2100 [and was running the XP1800]. Try reseating the CPU. Take the HSF off, take the CPU out and then reinstall it. I've had the problem once or twice on these boards and reseating the CPU seemed to solve it. As far as updating the BIOS, you don't have to add or remove anything on the board. Use the live BIOS and make sure the boot sector write protection in the BIOS is disabled.
    Also note: The K7T266 Pro [any version] might have a stability problem with more that 512 MB of DDR memory. If you have more than 512MB [combinations of 1,2,3, 1GB or 3ea 256 MB or 3ea 512MB or 2 ea 512MB] your problem might be just the memory. There are many threads on K7T266 Pro stability problems with more than 512 MB or memory.

  • MSI K7T266 Pro2 troubleshooting

    Hello,
    I just recently recieved a MSI K7T266 Pro2 motherboard (A6390MS) and I'm getting some weird troubles with it. I connected everything to the motherboard and when i start up the computer the screen comes up fine... but for some reason when i go to hit delete to go into setup it doesn't work. It continues to boot until it tries to detect any hard drives connected to raid. Since i don't have anything hooked up to it, it says "No Array is Defined.........." Then it says to hit to continue booting. For some reason it must not be detecting my keyboard because any button i hit does nothing at all. So after i let it sit there and do nothing, it goes back to the first screen that tells you the BIOS version and CPU and all that, and it displays the message "CMOS/GPNV Checksum Bad"
    I'm not exactlly sure what that means or why it is saying this. I've been sitting here for a week trying new things. My Keyboard is PS/2 so i figured that might be it. I tried using a PS/2 to USB adaptor and it still won't do anything when i hit DEL to go into Setup. I tried different keyboards and I only get the same thing. I checked MSI's website and they have no information at all and i couldn't find anything on the internet to help. Hopefully someone here may know what my problem is.  I think that the PS/2 ports are bad, and if so, how is that fixable?
    I didn't buy the motherboard, my friend's dad gave it to me to try out because my previous ASUS motherboard died out on me.  So as far as sending it back to MSI, I dunno if that is possible.  I'd have to find out how long their warrenty is and how long ago he bought it.

    It won't even read the floppy disk drive to use a boot disk because it seaches for the HDD first i guess.
    Now after taking the battery out and all that it just keeps saying CMOS settings wrong instead of the other message about "CMOS/GPNV Checksum Bad" and i can't make it go away.
    I'm really lost now and not sure what to do with the board because it's obvious that it works... but if it is something as small as the ps/2 ports being damaged, it would be such a waste.
    Also the PC Speaker is making a rapid clicking noise and im not sure what it means.  It also beeps 3 times after it tries to detect the raid and goes back to the start up screen that shows the information about the processor and ram and stuff

  • K7T266 Pro2-A USB Drivers...

    Hi,
    I have the K7T266 Pro2-A Motherboard, I am having some problems with my USB deviced, mainly my printer. I will be in the middle of printing a large file (A 710 MB Photo) and the USB will just disconnect between the printer and the computer..
    I wanted to see if there were updated USB drivers, but I didn't know which one to install, If any.. Here's what i found:

    Your System OS   Win98SE/ME(168KB) 2000/XP(7011KB)
    I Don't know if either of those are correct, or not. MSI makes it too confusing having a whole list of different motherboards with the exact same model # (IE: MS-6380) and only using different sub-model numbers.. Its really dumb..
    Neither of thease showed up on my Live Update 2..
    Thanks..

    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php    you are mose likely looking at the USB2 driver not being installed. Scroll down to the  NEC USB 2.0 Driver   section and read there.  The driver is also there.
