K7T266 Pro2RU w/Asus v8200 TI 200 no agp4x?

Ok.. I have posted this before but got no answer so hopefully someone will help out..
Got this board (K7T266 Pro RU)  last February (2002) had nothing but problems since.. I have a Asus V8200 ti200 64 mb RAM.. Runs on all my other computers but could never get 4x AGP to run this board..  after a while the onboard sound went too so I got a new sound card.. and got a new Vid card (ATI 9700 Pro) still no agp 4x so I got a new Board (k7n2-l) and new CPU (amd 2700+) which runs the 9700 w/ 8x agp fine.
I RMA the Board(K7T266pro RU) thinking it's just defective.  replacement board came and built another computer with it using the old CPU (1700+) still no go with the AGP 4x anyone with any suggestions?
total system specs.

yes I loaded a fresh copy of Win XP pro, loaded the latest VIA 4in1 drivers, and set the bios to 4x.  when in 4x mode I crash, but when in 2x mode I'm ok.  It's not just the Asus Card, same thing happens when I plug in the ATI 9700 PRO.
I had though it was the power supply so I got a 400 PSU but no changes.

Anyway, it works fine until you hit the reset button. The it just sits there, "checking nvram" until the end of time. What's going on? this really isn't a problem, just an annoyance!! It bothers me to no end.

    Hi,
Probably some card that doesn't reset too well....
Or try the clear nvram in the BIOS, see what happens....

  • 694T Pro and Asus v8200 video card

I can't seem to make my MSI 694T Pro run at AGP 4x mode with my Asus v8200 (a GeForce3 video card). It's running at 2x only with this card, but with GeForce2 cards it runs at 4x. I tried different versions of nVIDIA drivers and updating the BIOS to no avail.
    Any ideas?

Okay, this is starting to suck, my new Mac Pro is acting up too. I have posted about crashing to another thread where NVChannel has problems and the screen freezes. And now I have this problem too. It's hard to get any new windows to appear (such as context lists, menu views or just normal application windows).
And my log is full of this:

  • K7T266 Pro2RU & PCI 2.2

    Hello.
Im about to buy a PCI 2.2 compliant device and im wondering wether my mainboard is compatible with PCI 2.2
Anyone know if "MSI K7T266 Pro2RU" 's PCI slots are 2.2 compliant?
In the manual they are refered as 32-bit PCI Slots. Might that be it?
If not, will my device work?

No Tbred cpus are supported by this board without doing a modification to the board. The MSI site says 2000 model 6 is supported (Palomino core). Go to the good articles forum and read about this board with tbred cpu.

  • 2100+ XP on a k7t266 pro2ru no work??

I bought a 2100+ xp cpu to put into this system and all it gives me is 4 red leds.  I flashed to the latest bios 3.7 and tried to run it again with the 2100+ cpu but still get the 4 red leds.  I am running a 1700+ with no problems but I understood that the 2100+ would work on this mobo.  I checked msi and they say it should work as well.  One thing I have not done is I am taking this cpu back to the place I bought it to have them test it to see if it is good bad or otherwise.  Is anyone running a 2100+ on this mobo.

So I need to perform the motherboard mod in order for the 2100+ to work?.  I remember getting the mod info when you guys first got it to work but I never went as far as doing it.  I guess I will have the cpu checked out and then decide if I want to mod this otherwise just fine motherboard.  Thanks for the replys.

  • !AGP 2x!, !GeForce 3!, !MSI-6380! Problem

    Hello people!
    I have got a problem.
First my computer: AMD Athlon XP 1800+, MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU (or 6380) bios version 3.3, further is only my videocard important I think: an ASUS v8200 GeForce 3 Ti 200.
OK, i got my pc: it worked very fine! But then I discovered a thing: my videocard was running at 2x AGP!!!! And I have paid for 4x! Cause my videocard AND my motherboard can both suply 4x AGP. So I turned "4x" AGP on in the bios, that worked but when I started my computer again, I installed "Smartdocter". It is a program with which you can see the voltages of your card, well, I know that 4x AGP uses 1.5 Volt and 2x AGP 3.3 Volt...
4x AGP was turned on in the bios (infoview and other programs said that 4x was turned on, so that fits), but MY MOTHERBOARD supplied 3.3 Volt @ 4x AGP!!! is this wrong?? In 3d games there sometimes... (how do you say this in english?) well... you see thing you don't see when everything is stable? does that makes sense? it doesn't crash, but the game is not uh a good view.
I hope that 3.3 Volt doesn't mess up my card or motherboard...
    Well, please respond! Please!!!!
    Thanks Thanks Thanks!
    Wizard

That card is a 3.3 volt I have one in my second computer regardless of 2 x or 4x the issue is the sideband addressing. Also the 4x dont work it is pointless to try on the card. The main board I use for the card is the p3v4x both asus I contacted asus buy phone and I was told that 4x is instable with that board, I have read others with boards more recient than the board i used and the 4x problem  is still happening so I am thinking it is the card itself. but you may try to disable the sideband addressing if it already isent.
I like the card for the 3dsterio and the tv turner and the capturing ability it is used all the time, do not let the card go if it is the asus delux it is a gem.

  • How gettin 2*200Gb max raid drives 2 work?

I have windows xp pro sp1 installed.
    Mobo:K7T266 pro2RU
Bios: an Ami 6380 vms version 3.7
    the raid chip on it:
    Fasttrak100 lite bios version 2.00.1030.23
i have been using succesfully for quit some time now a striped array for performance with 2 maxtor 80gb raid drives.
now with the 2 maxtor 200 Gb hd's i can't succeed to get windows to recognise the drives array. they do seem to get recognised succesfully when booting up.
What am I to do to get these HDs to work properly?
Is it the older mobo that is causing the problem or the older promise chip? Is it because i need special maxtor software?
Since this was a costly investment any help whatsoever would be VERY much appreciated...
    thanx in advance

ok so i finally managed to get windows to recognise the drive. It became obvious that if it is recognised when booting up everything is working.
so this is what i did:
right click on my computer=> manage=>on ur left u see disk management and there i found the drive to be seen in windows and was able to format it..
still one question though...powerquest partition magic 8 says it is a dynamic drive and it has no filesystem (it says type 42) like all my other drives (ntfs) and im not able to format it with part magic ..is it because it doesnt support these big drives yet or what?
please some professional advise on this.

  • "Could not detect any Soundblaster Audio card" - HE

    Hi all,
Hoping someone out there can shed some light - I've read about a million posts on various forums suggesting how to solve the problem but nothing seems to work.
Everything was running just fine until I exchanged a video card. Swapped back from a nVidia Geforce 4 MX 64MB to an Asus V8200 64MB in the AGP slot. All of a sudden - no more soundcard. In Device Manager it tells me that it can see a PCI Card that it doesn't recognise and a Multimedia Audio Controller that it doesn't recognise.
    Am running the following:
    OS: Win2K (fully updated)
MoBo: SiS 730S (notably only 2 PCI slots and an AGP slot)
    Soundcard: Soundblaster Li've! CT4670
I've tried swapping the Li've! card between the two PCI slots (including with complete uninstalls in between), have reseated both the Video and Sound cards and reinstalled drivers for the Video card AND MotherBoard.
I have a vague suspicion that the problem lies in an IRQ conflict, but the system resource tools in Windows suggest that there are no conflicts (even thought the video and sound cards are sharing IRQ ). I haven't been able to adjust the IRQ settings because if I take off the automatic settings in BIOS, Windows refuses to boot. :P
I've tried running the latest driver software from the Creative website and it just tells me that it couldn't detect any Soundblaster Audio Card. Extracted the zip file and tried to apply the drivers manually - reckons it's not the same. Tried the KX drivers - still doesn't want to talk.
The sound icon in system tray has vanished - but the system still recognises the gameport, midi controls etc.
HELP!!! Anyone got any ideas? (save going and buying new equipment?)

Have you tried running the "CTZAPXX.exe" or "Setup.exe" file in the "Drivers" folder in the unzipped files? It should have no problem installing the drivers, unless you have a defecti've card. You may alos need to install the programs by using the setup file in each program's folder.

    - 1 Yamaha F1 S.S.
    Bye...!
Excuseme for my english I'm Italian and speak so so the language...

Okay, I assume the new 1.4 bios they are working on will address this problem? Or perhaps not? This problem as I see has been discovered last year, yet how many bios updates were released since? None of them remidying this situation.
The KT4 Ultra FISR is a really nice mainboard, but the lack of support and/or broken LAN controller really makes it look bad.
Flashing the bios and clearing the cmos simply wont work. This shouldnt be necessary when the LAN just dissapears on its own without any cause. If it isnt a bios bug, then its clearly a board flaw.
Is that why this problem has been covered up quite well? If there hasent been a bios fix, then i would guess that it is a flaw that is still not being publicly made by MSI themselves.
If theres a known fault with a product, i expect to be known about it. This problem has shown up enough to be a known flaw.
No, checking the winblows "device manager/tackler" wont show it, clearing the cmos wont show it, flashing the bios 10000 times wont make it show either. The device doesnt even exist on the mainboards pci table, its gone, not there, poof, kapoot, vanished.

Hello?? Anybody home? Think Mcfly think!
    edit:
Yes the IEEE1394 and RAID controller isnt there, thats because it is disabled in the bios, and can be reenabled just as easily, unlike the Broadcom LAN controller, that isnt even there to enable anyways.

  • MSI Boards incompatible with 3COM 3CR990SVR97

So after retiring my KT3 Ultra2 i'm now running the KT6 Delta and i wanted to use my High End Server NIC but i have extreme bootup probs when this card is installed. Tested in KT3 U2, KT3V and KT6 Delta the System wont start or need a long time until monitor goes active and shows boot screen. But in ABIT BE6 and EPOX 8K5A2+ the NIC works properly and i have two cards and the prob remains with both of them. It would be nice if anyone who can get this NIC could test if the problem is MSI related, i can remember the time where ASUS graphicscards wont work with AGP4x on MSI Boards :D
p.s. if system is running the card works without any problems and restarts are normal but if power is cut see above :O

The prob has nothing to do with drivers.
Problem is before bios Init  all LED's on Front of the Tower are blinking and D-Bracket shows early Chipset ... then after a minute the PC resets itself and then it runs without probs. I can restart the whole system and it will run without these boot errors but if i disconnect the powercord the same procedure starts again, but the NIC works without probs i can use LAN, DSL or whatever but i don't want to wait a minute until the system does anything .
on KT6 and KT3 the same prob.
It would be great if someone were able to organize such a NIC and could test it on another MSI Board.

I think i'll follok the Toenne suggest. The difference between the AGP 2x and 4x is very small, anyway my drivers are (un)installed correctly and i don't have any PCI card near the AGP slot. Instead i think that in the future i'll pay more attention at the temperature problem: my Athlon XP 2000+ is  hot also with a good copper cooler...
Another questios is, can anyone help me to find the best BIOS settings for my system?

I would be much obliged if someone has an answer that truly will work.  This problem costed me the best part of two days’ work and fouled up my workflow considerably.

    ==========
I tried to go into display settings and disable the Intel card. (this caused low resolution which is unexceptable)
    ==========
This makes me think it's using that graphics "card" ( probably built into mobo ? ...called 'onboard graphics ? )
This stuff gets tricky and sometimes the only way to make windows 'recognize' the pci graphics card is to actually take it out and boot, and then put it back in...
Then you get mssg " windows detected new hardware" and you install the drivers...
usually bios gives you choice of using onboard graphics or not ( but this too is wanky sometimes...sorry to say ...)
I recently ( this past year ) had a similar sort of situation but have a desktop, where its easy for me to take off side panel and pull the pci-e graphics card and boot, and get that horrible low res default screen...turn off, install card, reboot etc...
but anyway, it sounds to me like you're notebook is using that mobile graphics driver stuff and not the radeon. Somehow you've got to make it switch to that graphics card is maybe your solution.
sorry I dont have notebook but maybe someone else here does and can help more...
    good luck.
ps..its always a weird fact of life...when things aren't working 'right' something has to get done fast....
    edit:
I dont know how much you know about windows stuff, but after you disable that intel thing and get your low res screen.. you DID try to update the driver for that card using 'my computer / device manager  '   right ??

  • K7T266 Pro R and Geforce 2 GTS problem

Hello everyone. I have been experiencing a problem for some time now regarding lockups and crashes caused by my video card, which vary in severity depending on the driver version used. Since I'm using an MSI K7T266 Pro Raid mobo (version 1) I thought I'd post my question here.
The exact problem depends on the driver version. Using any Nvidia Detonator drivers at version 40 or newer, my system becomes extremely unstable. On first booting everything seems fine, however if I try to open my Geforce display properties the Windows freezes during the redraw of the display properties window, which goes blank. Sometimes I can call up Close Programs Dialog, which shows DDHELP in the list, and [not responding]. I've never actually gotten an error message from DDHELP or any other error message -- perhaps the computer jams too hard for Windows to get one up. I've seen reports around the Net about DDHELP problems from things like DirectX 8.1, but they're never quite like my problem. The problem is identical on DirectX 8.0, 8.1, and on 9.0.
No matter what I try to do in Windows with these drivers installed, the computer will lock up in seconds. For example, if I then open IE 5.5, I might be able to get as far as a page or two before the similar thing happens: during the window redraw the computer locks up (usually with a blank or partially-redrawn window), sometimes causing the mouse to lock and sometimes not, and then if I can get the Close Program Dialog open DDHELP has appeared and is Not Responding.
The most stable driver version I've found so far is 29.42, which does not cause the lockup above and never causes DDHELP to appear. However, it is quite unstable as well, and causes Windows to lock up sporadically during 2D window redraws in various programs. For example, when calling up a Save Document dialog or when opening a pulldown menu the program will lock either before any of the redraw becomes visible on screen or when the new dialog box is "skeletal", only partially drawn. Sometimes the crash is severe enough that I have to do a cold restart on my system.
The other problem is that sporadically garbage blocks will appear in portions of my screen, like old windows and color bands popping up that do not refresh. This often happens to me in Photoshop 6, and happens usually when I'm scrolling down a window or something.
These problems with version 29.42 all appear to be 2d window-drawing related. I do not have any problems with 3d games with 29.42. However, the new reference drivers are so unstable on my system that I can't even try to open them.
With 29.42, the most stable drivers I've found so far, some kind of lockup due to redrawing windows almost always occurs within an hour (sometimes minutes) of booting up.
For what it's worth, dxdiag tests just fine.
I was hoping someone could help me figure out what's causing the trouble, what driver I should use, and how to resolve it. If possible, I'd really like to use the newer drivers as I've been told they're much faster. In any event, I hate having such an unstable system where lockups could occur at any moment!

Thanks, I realized after posting this was the incorrect forum. I've put it in the VIA Socket A boards area, and also am trying the Via Arena forums.
Are you talking about my mainboard or graphics card memory?
Here's what I've got set under Advanced Chipset:
    Configue SDRAM timing by: SPD
    SDRAM Frequency: HCLK
    SDRAM CAS# Latency: 2.5
    SDRAM Bank Interleave: disabled
    SDRAM 1T command: enabled
    AGP mode: 4x
    AGP comp driving: auto
    Manual AGP comp. driving: CB
    AGP Fast Write: enabled
    AGP Read Synchronization: disabled
    AGP aperture size: 128 mb
Do any of these settings seem problematic to you?
    Thanks.
