Did you try overclock this mobo+bios3.74?
I made some tests and when I had 3.3 bios XP 2000+ and system was overclocked 145fsb the score i had 3dmark2001 was 8780(memory had max timmings), now i have 9250,
I tried o/c this mobo including 3.74 bios, it is very dificult to achive 140 fsb with max memory timmings, so I restored SPD timmings and system worked fine but till to run  some 3D software. I belive that Fast Command in this bios making grave instability! Hey MSI I am Here!!
OK guys that is all for now.

Yes. There is no differance between the CPUs except a single bridge.

  • What´s FAST COMMAND in the BIOS?

Hello, i just want to know what´s the fast command in my KT6DELTA. I set it in normal, ,can i set it in FAST or ULTRA?, i need a detailed explain of this because i damaged a KT6V setting it in FAST. Thanks

As far as I know, it is a memory tweak (don't know the right word for it   ). It is about how long/fast the memory will keep/send the data before passing it on to the system bus - CPU and other devices.
Maybe your memory wasn't too well suited for your mobo and processor, and the tweaking pushed it over the edge? With "it" I think I mean the processor, as it is mostly more fragile than the mobo.

  • Motherboard MSI MS-6380 ATX (Via K7T266A Pro2)

In the user manual of my motherboard (MSI MS-6380 ATX (Via K7T266A Pro2)), I can read that supports socket-A (socket-462) AMD processor from 800Mhz up to 1800+ Mhz processor. I would like to upgrade my processor. Does anyone have an idea if this Motherboard will support the CPU AMD Sempron 2400+. This processor has a FSB of 266Mhz (what is supported by the motherboard) and the same socket (socket-462) ? Maybe a upgrade of the bios will make that possible ?
    Thanks in advance,

The Sempron CPU's are 333FSB, and cannot be used on that board. There is an Athlon XP2400+ that uses a 266FSB, and these can be used on some versions of the K7T266Pro by doing a modifaction. See here
Without the modifaction, a Palamino core CPU is the highest supported CPU (Athlon XP 1800+ and lower)

  • Fast command-line program which displays connectivity

    Hi
I'm looking for a command-line program which can show whether or not my network interface has an IP address or not. It could use "ifconfig" to extract the information, I don't really care, but it has to be *fast* and it cannot require root access.
    Thanks

Thanks, but if someone knows some sed/awk magic to get only the interface's IP address, that would be great!
    EDIT:
Using the little "sed" I know, this is what I came up with:
    ifconfig wlan0 | grep -w inet | sed "s/^\\s*//" | sed "s/^inet addr://" | sed "s/\\s.*//"
    EDIT2:
Now I have this reasonable command:
    ifconfig wlan0 | grep -w inet | sed "s/.*inet addr:\([^ ]*\).*.*/\1/"

Question to all of you, when You creating new array in raid bios we have three options(FastTrak100 "Lite")
    A/V editing -

I'm sorry mate, was not a try to spam you forum sections, i posted there and then noticed it wasn't the good place at all and copy/pasted the whole text to another post, in the socket A based motherboards forum.

  • K7T266A Pro2-RU and no sec IDE after BIOS Flash

Hi all.. this is the first time posting here so I thought I would intro myself as well. I am a 27 yr old biotech worker who lives in the NE US and is a computer/gaming enthusiast who has built and tweaked his last two systems. Now here is my problem:
I just did a BIOS flash from 3.2 to 3.6 today, and it seems afterwards that I lost my secondary IDE channel. I checked all of my BIOS settings and it is unable to detect the Sec IDE channel. I also took the cover off the box and checked the connections and everything is locked into place. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Mayfield

    hi
this looks right to me but the link i got to it from was for a version 2.0 ,the model numbers are confusing
    i would preffer if you
clicked top left to msi mainsite
    click on motherboards
then archive and look your self to be sure
you will see half a dozen models like yours in socket alink

  • K7T266A PRO 2 (kt266a) and Multiple DIMMS Failure Issue

    Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can provide me with more information on the trouble i'm having.
I bought yesterday a 512 MB samsung dimm module to add the 512 MB of ram i already have in my k7t266a motherboard (w/xp2100+ cpu). I installed it and ran memtest, and it failed many tests.
So i returned it to the store and got another one -- same story.
    Then I tried the following
    1) Tried loading only my initial DIMM alone. Passed with memtest on all tests
    2)  Tried loading my new DIMM alone, Passed with memtest on all tests.
But whenever i try BOTH , it fails a lot. Both dimms are ddr266 cl2.5 from samsung.
I searched the help section on msi's website and tried the following:
    - disabled SDRAM 1T command
    - disabled agp fast write
    - disabled fast command
    But the errors remain.
I'm hoping someone can provide me with any more ideas or insight as to why i can't seem to get both modules working. For some reason i can't explain, My system is more stable with the new ram DIMM 1 rather than DIMM 2 ("more" meaning memtest doesn't freeze during execution, but it still generates errors)
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. To Clarify better, I have The K7T266 Pro 2 (I may have left out the 2). Yes, it's old.. but not that old.
In any event, i've tried setting the voltage on ddr ram to 2.7, and it had no effect on the issue.
Do you or anyone reading this have any alternative ideas? I'm really stumped on this one.
    Thanks a lot,
    Mark

  • K7T266 Pro2 RU problem and question

    Hello
I recently upgraded my CPU from an Athlon Thunderbird 1.400 to a AthlonXP 1700+ on my MSI K7T266 Pro2 -RU (MSI 6380 v2.0). The problem is that when i have the option Fast Command enabled in the bios, windows (Windows XP Professional) will crash and reboot after a couple of minutes (this happens even while i am browsing the net). With my previous CPU the fast command option didn't cause any problems. I wanted to ask if there is a way to solve the problem as the Fast Command increases the performance of my PC by 6-7%.
Also while the mobo won't support the tb2200+  will it support a lower clocked tb cpu (like 2000+)? And will i have a problem if i take an AXP2000+ and o/c it to 2200+ or 2300+?
Sorry if the above questions are already answered but its 02:40 in the morning and i don't have the courage to search the forum
    Thank you for your replies

    Pioneer DVD 106S 16x/40x
    Herolchi 350W PSU

I had the fast command problem with the 512 mb generic ram (2x256) which i replaced later with the corsair XMS 2400, so i don't think that the cause of the problem is the memory. The memory now runs at 145 at CAS2 stable.
I will try tomorrow flashing the mobo with the 3.3 bios and see if it solves it (i had the 3.6 before i installed the new cpu).
Also i read in another forum that a mobo supports up to a specific cpu because higher clocked cpus require higher current and might destroy the circuitry in the mobo. If this is not true and its just a bios support issue then i will buy a XP2000+ and will try to o/c it to FSB 145-150 (2200+ to 2300+).
Do you have the fast command enabled? I see we have the same mobo, memory and (almost) the same cpu.

  • MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU - Memtest-86 Errors

Hi, I have two 256MB 266DDR's by VM (there's "Nanya" on the chips) and when running Memtest-86 V3.0, I get about 10-15 errors in test 10. This doesn't happen when I test the sticks alone, only when they are together. When searching for this I found that some ppl with Abit and ECS VIA KT266a boards had this problem, and the solution was like this:
    * 1T Command - OFF
    * DDR DQS Input Delay - 20
    * DDR DQS Ouptut Delay - 40
    * Command drive strength - Hi
But the BIOS of my mobo has only the first option to set, I tried to set it OFF and it didn't helped, same with changing DDR voltage to 2.7 volts.
Other options (CAS, RAS etc) are set by SPD.
All the errors in memtest are like this:
    - all adresses above 256 MB
    - no exact address had error more than 1 time (it's random)
    - all adresses end with 5c, 9c, dc, 7c...
    - The pattern Memtest wrote is f7f7f7f7 or 7f7f7f7f
    - The pattern Memtest read is f7f7f7ff or 7f7f7fff

i have k7t266 pro2 aswell and had memtest errors too.
I solved the errors by loading bios defaults, not performance and setting memory timing to
    2,2,5,2-most aggresive
    settings
memory interleaving 2 way for 1 stick,4 way for 2 sticks.
    sdram 1t command-disabled
    fast command enabled.
Also clear nv ram in the bios after changing memory timings and reboot and retest,it worked for me,good luck.

  • Overclocking K7T266A Pro 2 and Athlon

Please advise me for the best Voltage value when overclocking my Athlon 1700+  CPU. With default value I reach safe and stable to 138Mhz CPU FSB.
I'm interested what are your voltage values and other settings on that board that I can play it safe on my system which is very stable at the moment for more than four months.
    My other BIOS settings:
Configure SDRAM Timing by : USER
    SDRAM Frequency : HCLK
    SDRAM CAS# Latency : 2
    Row Precharge Time: 2T
    RAS Pulse Width: 5T
    RAS to CAS Delay: 2T
    SDRAM Bank InterLeave: 4
    SDRAM Burst Length: 8QW
    SDRAM 1T command: Enabled
    Fast Command : Enabled
    Ciao, Davor.

If your not getting anywhere with the 3.6 bios downgrade to the 3.3 or 3.2 bios. Some people have found that Bioses above 3.3 don't overclocking that well. For example on my Pro 2 board I can't overclock at all past the 3.3 bios. Also in testing of 3dmark, Sandra etc I found that all bioses past 3.2 slow down compared to the older bioses. So you might get a decent peformance boost just from using an old bios. I know it doesn't make sense, but that's what I and a few others, Mr Steveo notable, have found.
As far as voltage goes, as a  rule of thumb never go 10% of stock and make sure your using a high quality HSF. Something like the AX-7 of Alpha 8045 would be ideal.
For settings try burst length 4qw instead of 8, and try disabling the 1t and Fast command. Then run Sandra and 3dmark and see what the results are. For some people, myself included, benchmarks went up when disabling these features even though technically on other boards these usually speed things up. I'm not saying this will happen for you, but its at least worth trying.
There is also a bios settings guid at http://www.amdmb.com you might want to check out.

HI GUYS, THE ANSWER IS I JUST REMOVED IT, I USED A KNIFE, THAT IS IT, VERY EASY :D . REMEMBER DO NOT USE ENORMOUS POWER!! I HAVE SOME UPDATE FOR  YOU GUYS, AFTER SOME TESTS I COULD ACHIVE 144FSB THAT IT MEANS 2160MHZ, STABLE AT 1.75 V. BUT NOW 1T COMMAND IS ON, WORKS FINE FOR ME!
MSG FOR JEROEN, DON'T BE SO SMART! THIS BIOS HAS VERY POOR MEMORY TIMMINGS, WHEN I HAD 3.3 BIOS I WAS ABLE TO ACHIVE 150FSB, BUT MEMORY SCORES WERE POOR , SO NOW YOU HAVE AN ANSWER WHY YOU CAN ACHIVE 157FSB.

  • KT3 Ultra 2R + Barton 3000+

    Hi all..
    Hope someone can help.
I have a KT3 Ultra 2R board with the following stats:
Athlon XP (Barton) 3000+ FSB 166 CPU
    CoolerMaster HHC-001 heatpipe H/sink with 80mm fan
    Antec 520W PSU
2 x 100 ATA Maxtor Viper 80Gb HDD's with 8Mb cache each in striped RAID array
    Asus TI 4600 Ultra 128Mb V/card
    Audigy S/card
    Lite-on CD/RW
    Lite-on CD/DVD
2 x 512Mb Corsair XMS 3000 DDR Ram (333 and above) with aluminium heat spreaders
    Lian-Li PC70 Tower case with 6 x 80mm fans
    Rounded cables throughout
    Win XP + SP1
    The Problem:
This system worked fine with an Athlon XP 2200 CPU and I read MSI's CPU support list and saw the KT3 Ultra 2 6380E supported the Barton XP 3000+ CPU's so I bought one.  :P
At first I had trouble booting on the 5.7 version bios, with the lock ups throught the bootup process. I reset the bois to the defaults and slowly worked up the settings using the recommendations in the forums.
At the moment, the system will boot up with fast command set to normal, no agressive DDR timings, 1T command disabled, fastwrite disabled, agp read/write disabled and SDRAM set to SPD (HCLK).
My 3DMark01 & 3DMark03 scores are lower than when I had the XP 2200 CPU installed and the SiSoft sandra results are the equivalent of a Athlon 2000. MSI says the board supports the Barton 3000+, but at what cost ???  :O
The system is very unstable and and requires on average 3 boots to boot up successfully. The 3DMark03 test often locks up mid way.
Any help or the settings MSI or you used to achieve their results would be VERY helpful. Please Help... ;(

I have had a similar problem running my kt3 ultra2 (non raid) at 166 fsb. In mid april I bought a 2600+ 166 fsb athlon to upgrade my system from a 1.2 ghz athlon. I bought some new pc2700 crucial ram to go along with the processor. I had also recently bought a radeon 9700 pro in late march, and a 1.2 athlon would just be a waste of this great vid card. I had been running fine with the radeon and the 1.2 athlon with the msi 5.7 bios and 4.43 via 4-in-1's.
I battled this problem for weeks. I bought a new antec 550 watt PSU, corsair xms 3200 ram, and new antec tower case trying to find out if the problem was ram, power or heat. I should also note that turning on spread spectrum helped a little in stability. Setting it to .50% made it stable in windows and games, but the computer would not turn on if shutdown unless I cleared the cmos. No setting besides this had any effect on stability. Even conservative ram timings. I was about to buy an Asus a7n8x when I realized that I had once run my old cpu and ram at 166 fsb when I had the 5.6 bios a couple of months back. I did not keep it like that in fear of damaging the ram while overclocked.
So I reflashed to 5.6 which still supported the 2600+. That finally worked almost perfectly, although I still have to keep spread spectrum at .25% to be stable (which is odd, people say that is supposed to hurt stability). So in my situation, it was the bios that was faulty. I have had some very ramdom crashes to the desktop (3 of them) in games and one hardlock with a blank bluescreen in unreal2. This is over a span of a month. So it is not perfect. It might be the display drivers causing this, which I have recently upgraded, or I might need to back off my ram timings which are at 2-2-2-5 which this ram can handle easily at 166. 3dmark has yet to crash. Prime 95 passed when I ran it for 30 minutes. Im going to run prime 95 today and see if it will run for like 12 hours stable. Im still looking into getting a new nforce 2 mobo, however (abit or asus).
I hope this helps your situation, you should give it a try. Although, the 5.6 bios does not support the 3000+. It might still work, it will maybe just not show up as a 3000+ in the bios, but as a 2.17 Athlon XP.
I think MSI should be made aware of this possible 5.7 bios fsb instability. Why spread spectrum seems to be related in my situation, is really odd also.

  • "A Serious Error has Occurred", HELP

So I have a project with a Monday deadline. I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014. Just got to picture lock with the director and I was doing some minor tweaks to the audio. I got the dreaded "A serious error has occurred", restarted permiere tried to load the recovered file, and it crashes with the same error. "No big deal" I think, and then I tried to open the original file, and it does the same thing. Once all the media is connected if I try to move the scroll bar next to my time line the error pops up.
So I'm starting to worry and freak out. I cannot lose this project file.
    Tech Specs on the machine:
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010)
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB
    Running Yosemite 10.10.1
Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.0.0 (169) Build

    Update:
So after resetting permissions for Adobe across the board on my computer. Then uninstalling and Premiere with the adobe cleaning tool, then reinstalling the latest version via CC, the issue still persisted.
Every time I tried to zoom out of my timeline it would crash. All my media would connect though, so I knew it had to be some sort of minor bug. In the meantime since we were already at picture lock I was able to save an XML to give to the colorist, and export my audio tracks separately (vo and music) as ACC files. So at least I could tweak the mix that way.
After all that, this morning, I had an epiphany moment. PP only started crashing when I had my audio tracks expanded so I could see the waveform and set points to rubber band the volume. So I collapsed the audio tracks, and bam! I was able to zoom out without crashing. So there must be something up with a bug in the timeline code.
Is there a fast command to collapse all tracks in the timeline? Audio and Video?

  • Basic lp printing setup on Solaris 10

What changed with lp printing in Solaris 10 from previous versions? I used to use CUPS but can't anymore as Sun stopped uncluding it on the companion CD with later versions of Solaris 10 (U4+). Now I just want a simple print queue setup to a hp 4250 networked printer that will always print landscape, compressed print. We have Solaris 9 boxes with these queues setup without CUPS that work just fine but I guess the same lpadmin, lpfilter, etc. commands don't setup a print queue the same way on Solaris 10 as I can't print to the printer - only 2 sets of banner pages come out. I want to tie a shell script filter to the queue that prepends the esc codes to the print file to make it go landscape and compressed print but nothing prints out but banner pages. If I look at /var/lp/logs/requests most status codes are 0x0100.
I've tried following Sun Doc ID: 212177 as follows:
    # vi myfilter.sh
    #!/bin/ksh
    #Print landscape
    echo "^[&l1O"
    cat -
    # vi /etc/lp/fd/myfilter.fd
    Input types: any
    Output types: myfilter
    Printer types: any
    Printers: any
    Filter type: fast
    Command: /opt/local/bin/myfilter.sh
    # lpfilter -f myfilter -F /etc/lp/fd/myfilter.fd
    # lpadmin -p myque -o protocol=bsd,dest=<printer hostname> -v /dev/null -m netstandard -T unkown -I myfilter
    # enable myque
    # accept myque
    # lp -dmyque <some_text_file>
result are 2 banner pages and contents of the file to be printerd and /var/lp//logs/requests is 0x0100.
someone please educate me if U can? (I'd take a Dinozo slap to the back of the head from Gibbs as necessaryl!)

    Hi,
Problem resolved, a case of RTFM.
In order to avoid a ppd error in the command below you need to ensure the ppd-cache is working and this involves rebuilding the it
    # ppdmgr -r
You should now be able to sucessfully add the ppd option as shown below.
It appears that the Make, Model and Driver options do not appear after a clean install of Solaris 10 10/08 in the Printer Manager. However, if you create a printer with a ppd interface and then delete it the options remain. example below.
    # lpadmin -p hp1 -v /dev/lp1 -I postscript -m standard_foomatic -n /usr/lib/lp/model/ppd/system/foomatic//HP/HP-DeskJet_950C-hpijs.ppd.gz

Then I went into BIOS and raised the FSB to 166 MHz, which should be the correct one, or do I have to put 167 MHz in there (since 166.666666 MHz is rounded to 167)?
Then I exited and watched the restart...but it didn't start-up it only got me 3 long beeps at the HOST.
After some whining and beating I plugged out anything and cleared CMOS and started the whole thing again:
    System after Clearing CMOS:
    Mainboard: KT3 Ultra 2 (BIOS v5.7)
CPU: AMD XP 3000+  FSB 100 MHz
RAM: 1x512 MB Infineon PC3200 CL 2-3-3-7 (BIOS setting CAS Latency by "SPD")
Storage: Western Digital WD800BB (80 GB) (Firmware 17.07W17)
Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 172T with Driver Version 1.0
OS: Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4
With all Default settings, the Computer boots up, and is correctly Recognized as a Barton 1300 MHz.
When increasing FSB to 133 MHz it is correctly displayed as a Barton 2200+
    NOW...
...after adding one BIOS setting after another I narrowed the problem down to the "CPU Fast Command (decode)" Function...if set to Ultra it does not boot-up when running 166 MHz FSB, it does not even let me into BIOS. I have to clear CMOS and restart from scratch again...
Is this normal and expectable with a Barton 3000+ running at the native 166 MHz FSB or not ?
Since my system before was running on "Ultra" with my old AMD XP 2100+.
There is only one more thing I noticed, the CPU V-Core is shown to be only 1.616 V (setting on "Auto" but it should be 1.65 V ? Should I increase the V-Core to 1.675 V in order to get closer to 1.65 V or shouldn't I worry about ?
Thanks for any Input you can give me on the problem.

Iscaran, you are indeed correct in the statement which you made

This setting can be set to fast/ultra on the KT3 Ultra2 when using PC2100 ram running at 266. However, when using PC2700 ram running at 333, this setting MUST be set to normal for the satisfactory operation of the board. I know that you have PC3200 ram actually installed but it is only running at 333.

    Yes, absolutely normal

How are you measuring this ie Bios or o/s utility? Not unknown that these are incorrect. However, if you feel unhappy about this, try setting the V-core manually to 1.65v and check what this gives.

So 3.3 V x 22 A gives 72.6 W, that could be really a little cutting the edge. Could that cause the board to not respond when setting the "CPU Fast Command" to "Ultra" ?
Getting a more powerful psu will not likely cure this well documented problem.
However, this board mostly draws power from the 3.3 & 5v rails. The 12v is mostly used to power HDD, optical and fans. When you consider that 128Mb of ram draws about 8-10w from the 5v rail and you have a total of 1.5Gb that adds up to 96-120W of juice just for the memory alone. This board will beep at you at o/s level when it's running underpowered but my opinion is the same as osnavi's your 3.3v & 5v rails are too low. Also what is combined 3.3v & 5v wattage. What kind of reading do you get on monitoring utilities.
By the way I have as you can see from my dets below the same board and cpu as you and when I changed from a XP2000 Palomino with PC2100 ram to XP3000 Barton and PC3200, I changed the 'Fast Command' setting from 'Fast' to 'Normal'
Hope this helps, enjoy the board
