K8MM-V and the sempron 3000+

Hi,
Has anyone put the K8MM-V and the sempron 3000+ 64bit architecture together, are they ok.?
From the way MSI word what a mo/bo supports, I'm wondering if I cannot use this cpu. They write it as thought the Athlon range starts from 2800+ and the sempron range support starts from 3100+. Or is it me just being daft??!!!! . MMMM Need a Bud, that will make it clear.

I'm going to assembly a computer, but I'm not sure about a little of things.
The system:
MSI k7nf2 delta 2 platinum
sempron 3000+
sapphire ati radeon 9600 pro 256mb
Hauppage wintv pvr 150
Controller Z-cyber speed way 133 + raid
maxtor ata 133 60gb
I haven't steel turned on it.
Probably for max compatibility whith sempron 3000 +, I should flash the bios,
but the first time I turn on the PC, will it works ?
If not, will it works with my old athlon 1000? just the time to flash bios ?
When my PC will be turned on (I hope It does), I'd flash bios in this manner:
-make a bootable floppy from windows xp
-format the partion where i've to install the SO, with ntfs
- follow the instructions for flashing bios that I've downloaded from MSI' s official site
for non fat file system

Hi, iv'e got a MSI k8t800 neo socket 754 v 1.0 mobo, i have just installed a sempron 3000, the system boots, but in post it says unknown processor,
i have installed windows xp, and updated the bios using liveupdate to v 2.20 but the problem still remains, the memory seems to be reading corrctly now though, do i need to update the bios to a newer version, i have read that the newer bios version for these chips is'nt availabe yet is this correct.
the system seems to be working fine apart from this problem.

K7N2 ILSR & Sempron 3000+

Hi,
I just installed a new Sempron 3000+ on my mb K7N2 ILSR and I don't know how to configure it properly in the Bios (FSB, etc.)
I installed the latest bios availble thru Live update but the cpu seems to be not recognized as 3000+

this is probably just a cosmetic issue.
main question is... is the sempron performing at the correct speed?
if so, it's just a case of the mobo not knowing what to call it. you may try downloading a program like cpu-z or similar to see if it shows the correct ghz and bus speeds while in windows

KT4A-V don't pick up my sempron 3000+ properly

Hi i have built a computer everything works fine no probs. This is my first compter i have ever built.
i have a-
VIA KT400A+8237 motherboard
the motherboards model name is-
MS-7021
the mainboard bios vendor is-
AMIBIOS
and the bios version is-
3.20
The processor tht i have intalled to the motherboard is a AMD sempron 3000+ and should operate at 2.0Ghz, L2 cache of 512kb
But when i right click on 'My computer" go to properties + on the General Tab i look at were it says Computer: and it say "AMD sempron(tm)" and just under tht it says "1.20Ghz".
when i set my bios to high preformance and go back to tht it says "AMD sempron(tm)2300+" and just under tht it says "1.60Ghz".
is there anything i can do to make the motherboard recognise my processor properly?

Installed Yosemite, now my MacBook Pro is running slow and the FileVault keeps saying estimating time remaining.

I installed Yosemite and since then the system has been running slow. I chose to use FileVault and it says it's encrypting but keeps saying estimating time remaining. I've tried repair permission and restarting my computer. Saw some other threads with similar problem and ran diskutil cs list which showed 80% the first time and now says failed. I also did an Entre Check and here are the results.

Aperture and the Retna Display

I have not been here for a while, so this has most likely already been discussed. If so, please disregard my post.
I was in an Apple store the other day and finally got a chance to look at the new MacBook Pro Retna (MBPR).
So the MBPR has really high resolution. (total number of pixels) In the default (or recommended) display settings (System Preferences) the UI shows text in what I would call a large, sharp mode. It uses all the extra pixels to make the text sharper, not really small. I assumed applications like Aperture would use all the pixels when it displayed photos. However, that didn't seem to be the case.
In Aperture, I double clicked a photo to view a single photo. I then clicked on the 100% icon. In this mode, I expect to see a one to one relationship between the pixels in the photo and the pixels in on the display. There should be no scaling.
I compared this (side by side) with another MBPR where the display settings were set to most pixels. (I forgot what it's actually called) In this mode, the text is much smaller. So you can see more of the UI. It's smaller and a little harder to see, but you can see more. I then took the same photo and clicked the 100% icon. This time, I got a different result.
I expected the 100% view to show the exact same way on both computers, regardless of the display settings in System Preferences. I expected those settings to affect the UI, not viewing photos at 100%.
In the default mode Aperture zoomed in more of the photo, so I saw less of it.
In the "more pixels" it was less zoomed in, so I saw more of the photo.
The default mode was not 100%, because given the size of the photo (around 3,000 pixels wide) it was too zoomed in. The "more pixels" mode seemed closer to 100%, but I don't think the math was working out right, since it seemed to show the full width of the photo and the MBPR is less than 3000 pixels wide.
No one at the Apple store could explain it to me.

System Preferences in Default Mode: UI scales 4X and Aperture scales photos at 1X. So, in this mode when you click on the zoom viewer button, the image is scaled 1x, so it's a 1 for 1 pixel representation.
System Preferences in More Space Mode: Text is scaled at 2X (so your text and UI elements are smaller). However, Aperture no longer scales the image at 1X. It is scaling it down to fit.
This explanation seems to fit what I saw at the Apple store.
I would have thought that the System Preferences would only affect text and UI elements, not things like photos and videos, at least when viewed at 100% zoom.
I'm not sure I understand why Apple would change the 100% viewing of images/videos. I would think that should stay constant. Especally give the fact that the System Preferences settings no longer changes the displays resolution. Now it's changing the scaling factor, which I think should only affect text and UI.
But, that's just my opinion. Either way, Keith you have provided the answer to my question.

Resolve communication issues

I previously had a problem with my Laptop dying randomly you can read about it in the thread entitled Computer dies Randomly (Battery also dead) click to view
Before I realised the solutions, I thought that maybe my Laptop had become infected with a Virus and decided it would be prudent to do a clean install of the Windows XP operating system.
Everything went perfectly and thought a clean install was a good opportunity to download the “XP Service Pack 3” SP3 and did so, it seemed very quiet though and that’s when I realised I had no sound…
I downloaded all of the sound drivers I could find on the Lenovo site for 3000 N100 (I knew from previous experience that the “SOUNDMAX” driver is the only one that actually works with this 3000 N100) in order to install this you have to install the Realtek HD audio driver, but in order to install that you have to install some other Driver/Soft that only works with SP1 or SP2 if you try to install it with SP3 it will say that you don’t need the file as your Service pack is newer than the file you want to install, this is understandable as SP3 is not final as of yet (but it’s good to know).
My next problem was that my extra RAM was not detected, this was fixed by updating the BIOS, after installing all of the System updates, PC Doctor, everything I could find for 3000 N100 I decided to rest, I pushed the Lenovo care button and it did not work, I found a hot key driver and installed it but still the Lenovo care button does not work, previously when I pushed this button it would bring up the Lenovo menu but now it’s just a dead button, Does anyone know how to get this button working again?
I am pretty sure that everything else is working fine now, just that button not working is very annoying, is there a set routing of installs you must do to get everything working, i.e. bios 1st audio 2nd system update 3rd etc...

Ok first everything works now... except the Lenovo Care button, I just posted the other stuff cause it might help other members, I have searched the forum for an anwser to this problem but there was only one anwser (suggesting to uninstall the driver restart and re-install it) and it did not result in a working Lenovo Care button...
I don't beleive the Lenovo keyboad drivers are in any way related to the Service pack 3 as they do not use the Service pack files, to back this up I also had the same problem when Service Pack 2 was installed...
The Lenovo Care button works fine on Boot up screen to access the rescue and recovery software (So the mechanics of the button are fine) but once Windows XP loads it is just a dead button, I remember it used to open up the Lenovo Care Start bar, I got it working once in the past but I can't remember what I did, I thought someone here might know the anwser...

How to use the FP 3000 with windows XP?

Actually I have a problem using My FP-3000 nifbus with a windows xp proffetional station.
previously I was using it with nifbus configurator and communication manager, both of version 2.3 and then I upgraded to 2.3.6 (using windows 2000) and now I am trying to use it with windows xp, but the configurator does not communicate with fp-3000 and it doesn't show any function blocks.
I started by installing the 2.3 configurator and manager, but the PCMCIA fbus/2 card that I'm using was not recognised by windows.
so I upgraded to 2.3.6, the pcmcia card was now recognised by windows but the communication manager kept giving a communication error.
so I installed the communication manager version 3.0, which started successfu
lly and the configurator started but the fp-3000 was not present.
I tried updating the firmware, but the upgrade.exe did not disfunctioned and gave strange module names in the window, and it did not download the firmware.
I also tried resetting the fp-3000 but still no luck.
so any one can tell me what software and what versions should I use to overcome this problem?

It sounds like a problem of advanced network parameter settings.
You can start "Interface Configuration Utility", choose the port and select "Edit", then choose "Advanced..." button to have "Advanced Stack Configuration" dialog.
Change values to:
T1 0x40000,
T2 0x40000,
T3 0x30000,
Slot Time 5
Click OK to close "Interface Configuration Utility", and run NI-FBUS CM or Configurator to check whether it helps.
If you have 3.0 or 3.1 version, you just choose the "Old Default" button to set the values automatically.

Downloaded a trial version of the "Living Earth Desktop" screensaver and cannot get rid of it. I deleted the download and cannot find it anywhere else on my mac. I will change the desktop image and the living earth image will pop back up minutes later.
