K8MM-V & Turion support

Hello! I've got a MT-30 which should be clocked @ 1.6 GHz but after booting the motherboard the CPU underclock @ 800 MHz himself with ou without Cool & Quiet activation. I assume there's a huge bug in the BIOS. I've updated to version 1.2 because the change list said OK for Turion support but it seems (maybe because of that) MSI have removed this line after I bought the motherboard. Now I'm under version 1.5 & I'm gonna try version 1.6 but the change list doesn't notice this bug. I've already reported this bug but no answer from MSI. What can I do? Thanks.

Well good luck.
I don't have a clue about running a 0Db system. Nor with the load I put on my rig would I try. However one recommend to get good cooling and keep it quiet is to look into something along the lines of Zalmans Resorator. All it uses to make any noise s a pump and does all it's cooling witha very large radiator setup. I have seen some reviews and for keeping it cool and QUIET... Well that kinda tel;ss the story when you see overclocking being done with a silent cooler like that HeHeHe.
Maybe one of the other lads here can give the topic a shot. Most of us run plenty of fans and noise is hardly the worry. But we have had the odd moment when someone wants peace and quiet more than speed.

  • K8MM-ILSR 1920x1200 supported?

I upgraded the PC of my father in law with a Dell U2410 1920x1200 monitor.
The system uses onboard video of the MSI mainboard K8MM-ILSR with VIA® K8M800 Chipset.
    http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=601
The videopart is called VIA Unichrome Pro IGP.
Max what I get now is 4:3 1600x1200. No wide resolutions at all.
Before I flash the board with latest BIOS, does the board support 1920x1200 or any wide resolution?

Sorry that board is too old, if it doesn't with the latest drivers it will never do it with the onboard.
VIA stopped making chipsets a long time ago, so don't expect them to fix it.
Put a ATI 9550 AGP or so in it and it will work just fine.

  • K8mm-v support sata2 ?

    hi
    my motherboard k8mm-v
    k8mm-v support sata2 ?

But don't let that prevent you from buying a SATA2 disk. Do some research in advance though. Most HDD's that are SATA 2 can be made compatible with SATA-1 controllers:
    - some need a change in the firmware that can be made with the manufacturer's tools;
    - some have a SATA-2 -> SATA-1 jumper on them. Just set the jumper and the drive will work as SATA-1.

  • K8MM-V Support for Mobile Semprons

Has anyone tried the mobile semprons on this board? Will it work ?

    Maybe it'll work.
But it'll be a very difficult task - there's no heatspreader on a Mobile Sempron, if I'm not mistaken. The heatsink must be modified to fit onto the processor. And y'see, the die on the processor is very sensitive, you might not want to crack it.

As usual I update my motherboard to the new BIOS version but this one is really buggy. In fact I cannot even boot & selecting the temperature monitoring menu implies a quick shutdown of the PC. Flashing back to 1.8 & all things go in the right way. Have you experimented any trouble with this 1.9 version?

I don't think it is a Windows issue when the BIOS shutdown the PC without any wise reason. Thanks for trying to help.
First guess, powersupply is too light to handle your system.....

  • Support issue for non-English characters (in html forms)

    Hi group!
I just want to post an issue here and see if anyone else has the same problem. First off, Im running Windows XP MCE but the French version (not the english version). This may help find out where the problem really is.
Second, I know a bit of html and such, and I'm referring to HTML Character entities for this thread, there's a quite complete list here for reference: http://www.faqs.org/docs/htmltut/characterentitiesfamsupp69.html
I noticed that some, not all, non-English characters written in a textarea (which is, basically, a multi-lined input box) doesnt pass well or at all to the server when sending the form from Safari. Most of the time, the content of the text area is reduced to the beginning and ends where the first accentued character is met.
The most used French accents (é, à) are usually well interpreted (but may, once in a while, produce that bug too) by safari, but ô and î doesnt do that well.
Oddly, this bug doesnt happen all the time and doesnt "crash" in the same manner everytime.
So I started a thread just to see if there's anyone else having issues with any non-english characters mostly in forms. Probably flash/shockwave does work, but I'm not sure- I have not tested yet.

Yes, it is a known issue. I also noticed that it sometimes works, but most of the time it does not. It will hopefully be solved in the future. According to http://www.apple.com/safari/download/ changes that will come include:

    # International text input methods

  • K8MM-V and 3D graphics issues

I have recently upgraded my motherboard and processor.  Since doing so I have been unable to run any 3D games.  When I attempt to open one I get and error stating that 3D acceleration was unable to start up and that I need to make sure that my video drivers are up to date and that I have Direct X 9.00c installed.  When I run the Direct3D diagnostic test I get errors at steps 7,8, and 9 stating that it was unable to create 3D devices and that 3D is not available.  I have no idea what to do!  I have reinstalled windows, installed the latest chipset drivers, installed the 4 in 1 drivers, installed the latest video card drivers, and reinstalled Direct X multiple times.  My only though now is that perhaps something is off in my BIOS settings, which I am not familiar with.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Windows 98
    K8MM-V

NVidia GeForce 6200 APG 256 MB
    Athlon 64 3700+
    power supply 300W
    256 DDR Ram

The drivers you installed? Were they compatible with Windows 98? I am not sure there is enough support left for that OS on some of this newer gear. I am not sure that is the issue but it is where I would start my journey into this issue.

  • Problems with Audio Drivers on K8MM-ILSR

    Newbie alert.
I think I'm posting this in the right area, but forgive me if I've messed up.
I have this Gateway refurb computer I've just bought, and I've had no luck getting it running with Gateway's bundled software (and neither has Gateway support... what a waste), so I've decided to go it alone (glad I did... it's much faster now).
Anyhow, I have the latest MSI bios loaded, and everything seems to be working ok except for my on board audio.  I have made sure the audio is enabled in the BIOS.  When I try to load the latest driver from the MSI website, or the Realtek website, I get the message that the "Data is invalid" and that the drivers could not be installed.  Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling them in and out of safe mode.  I've also tried copying over the driver.cab file from the XP installation disk (read about this on the MS support site) to no avail.  I'm not terribly experienced in building computers apart from adding memory/replacing broken parts, and stuff like that.  I searched this site, and Googled all around, but I still can't seem to solve this.  Any help would be appreicated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

    Thank you foxxww.
I gave it a little more thought and realized that nothing had changed since my fresh install of XP EXCEPT I flashed my BIOS.  Duh!  I since re-loaded XP and on-board sound is up and running.  Incidentally it also resolved a previous complication I had with my on-board video driver.  Now If I could just get the spontaneous re-boot issue figured out... Ah but that's for another post I suppose. Thanks to all that offered suggestions.

I had a problem installing the audio driver for my K8MM-V when the mainboard was changed. The problem was solved by re-installing the XP Pro OS.

  • MegaBook S270/MS-1013 PC3200 support?

    Hi, (First Post)
I wonder if anybody knows anything about the MS-1013 and it's support for PC3200, as I have replaced the shipping RAM in my OEM MS-1013 with 2 sticks of KingMax 512MB PC3200, and it still runs at 133MHz - the original RAM was PC2700 and also only ran at PC2100 speeds. I know the Sempron (eww) supports PC3200, and the specs for the machine claim it does, so I'd like to know why, even with the latest MSI BIOS, 330(?) it runs slow. I've tried using A64 Tweaker to boost it up to 166 and 200MHz, but (presumably due to the onboard video not liking an on the fly change from the display corruption I get as it crashes) even with vastly increased timings and 2T, I've had no success. (actually, before I upgraded the BIOS, it wouldn't boot with the PC3200 in, so 330 was a good omen anyway)
If anybody has PC3200 or 2700 working at the correct speed in one of these or knows if MSI are planning on sorting out the BIOS or if there's something obvious I've missed, I'd like to know since I think the graphics performance would benefit significantly from the increased memory speed (not that it's exactly slow for an integrated solution as-is!)
p.s. Otherwise, I love this machine - it was better specced and cheaper than MSI-badged S270s in the UK beside the Sempron (which isn't exactly slow - in fact, it's faster than my Dothan 725), and I'm considering upgrading it to a Turion ML-37 when prices come down anyway :D
Overclocking has been fun with ClockGen (ICS951412 version works), but I'm not sure I'd use it for extended periods clocked up, since the cooling system in notebooks usually struggles enough as-is, IMHO.

I just got my MSI S270/1013 today.. Specs are Turion 64 MT-34, 1GB PC2700, 80GB, 8x DVD+RW, Wireless G+Bluetooth. So far its great.    I just ran CPU-Z on it, and I'm coming up with mine running at ~166mhz, or PC2700 speeds. I'll give you what my ram settings are so you can compare. (oh, btw, I haven't updated my bios, only because I just got it and everything seems to be working fine)

  • K8MM-V and the sempron 3000+

    Hi,
Has anyone put the K8MM-V and the sempron 3000+ 64bit architecture  together, are they ok.?
From the way MSI word what a mo/bo supports, I'm wondering if I cannot use this cpu. They write it as thought the Athlon range starts from 2800+ and the sempron range support starts from 3100+. Or is it me just being daft??!!!! .  MMMM Need a Bud, that will make it clear.
    CPU
    • Supports 64-bit AMD® Athlon™ 64 & Sempron processor (Socket 754)
    • Athlon 64: 2800+ ~ 3700+, Sempron 3100+
Sorry for a daft question,   I just want to make sure before I buy.
    Thanks

K8MM-V is Via chipset board, so i'll move it to the right area
check the CPU support list, its on there

  • [Athlon64] K8MM-V - Memory Size

    Hi,
I have a K8MM-V with a AMD Samperon 64bit (3000+) CPU and am wondering  about the max memory size for it.
The website says that it handles 2GB of DDR400.  I have 2x1GB DDR400 chips and the BIOS only sees 1.5GB as does Windows.
The memory have Samsung chips and are of the same time.  What is wrong? Or did I not set something correctly?
Bios is at ver1.3.  The memory is set to AUTO.  So I am not sure what is going on

Memory banks, You know you can get double sided memory modules.
So if you installed a double sided module you could not use dimm slot 2.
Each dimm slot has 2 memory address lines so you can access both sides at the same time and use double sided modules.
    So
    dimm slot 1 = bank 0 and Bank 1
    dimm slot 2 = bank 2 and Bank 3
    dimm slot 3 = bank 4 and Bank 5
Since there are over hundreds types of memory modules and they are using different type of DRAMs to build them, it is very possible that you have purchased a (cheap) memory module which is not compatible with your computer.
For example, there might be 3-4 different types of 128MB memory modules and some computers are very picky and can only support 1 type or 2 types of 128MB memory modules.  If  it is incompatible, then usually you will not be able to boot up your system or you will see frozen screen or system might only recognize half of the memory size. This issue adresses to very low compatibility, because memory maker use several configuration.
Maybe you can try setting memory to "SPD"
Edit here: try using only one stick at a time, if they are reconized alone as 1 GB the problem will remain in the very low compatibility issue, and maybe you want to buy some others ram stick from another chip maker, maybe Geil, or Corsair.

  • K8MM-V 7142 updated vga bios

i have a couple of system using k8mm-v board which has VIA/S3 UnichromePro IGP, recently we have upgraded most monitor to 17"/19" Wide screeen LCD, here the problem come, the onboard vga bios does not support those wxga resolution like 1440x900 or 1650x1024, google around found this is related to vga bios issue, not driver. i have updated those system to ver 1A bios, vga bios seems remain the unchanged. is there any service/beta bios available to fix this problem? tq.

these are only low end sempron powered (tats the whole point for all-in-one board) office station which only do basic office documents/spreadsheets work & internet browsing, nothing more nothing less. pretty no point buying new display card for this. even a 5 years old 845g onboard display driving the wide screen lcd without any problem (their vga bios updated with driver though).

  • K8MM-ILSR: Unknown CPU & Audio

    Hello,
I have an K8MM-ILSR motherbord. I installed a Sempron 2600+. The BIOS reports Unknown CPU. Why is that?
Also I have installed the front audio headers from my case. When I plug in a headset in the front ports, the rear speakers are still active. With the same case and a different motherbord when I plug in the front ports the rear speakers turn off.
How can I get the rear speakers to turn off when I'm using front audio?
    Thanks

    Hi!
    I bought a K8MM-ILSR mainboard and a AMD Semperon 64 2800+ E6-Stepping CPU.
After Installation the BIOS as well as Windows XP tells me, that I am running an unknown AMD CPU. Having browsed through the global MSI-webpages, I had to find out that the latest E6-stepping of the Semperon 64 processor is not supported by the BIOS. This is a major hassle as I am unable to use the Cool 'n Quiet feature among other things thus giving me fans at full speed and a system which is always on full power.
I have already installed the latest AMD K8 Driver and the latest C'nQ-Software, nonetheless these software parts are not helping.
Can you please release a BIOS update for this particular mainboard as I would like to keep my CPU and have it fully supported. Thanks you very much in advance.
