Look for "S/W memory hole Remapping" in BIOS and Enable it in "DRAM Configuration" in "Cell Menu"

  • Diamond memory problem

    Hi All
First post, and it's a problem. I have had (and still use) 3 MSI boards and have until now found them to be totally reliable. However I now have a problem, that mat or may not be related to the mii heat wave we are experiencing here in the North West of England. Basically I am in the process of oc'ing my system but I was getting a few blue screens so I thought I would add a few volts to my memory. I uppped it to 1.4 and the system died, so I cleared the bios and rebooted.....nothing. After mush tooing and fro'ing I surmised that the system would boot (intermittently) in single channel at 2T at 333MHZ (see specs) about half an hour ago it died again and will no longer boot. So if anyone has had any similar problems, any advice will be greatly appreciated. System Specs below
    MSi K8n Diamond
    AMD FX60 (overclocked to 3.2)
    2 (2x1) Gb Corsair XMS
2x 7800 GTX (SLi) No OC
    Creative XFi Platinum
Vapochill XEII case (Phase Change Cooling)
Various hard disks Maxtor & Samsung

    Thanks in advance

  • K8n Diamond Memory Help!!

    Greetings,
I have a question and i hope i can get a awnser.  I have a k8n Diamond motherboard I currently have 2 1gb pc3200 Nspire Ram installed.  I just recently bought 2 more 1gb Pc3200 Nspire Ram chips and i installed them into the PC.  Problem is i for one see it start runnin at 333mhz which apparently its suppose to do and it only posts 3GB worth of the ram (which i read in the manual happens due to Southbridge resource deployment).
My question is how do i get all 4 gigs to post and is there a way to get it it run at 400 mhz instead of 333mhz?
    I have AMD 4200+ X2

Ok so i tried what you said and It didnt work.  Im sure its all me but the options you gave just didnt really exist in my Bios.  So here goes  I have a Adjust DDR Memory Frequency which is inside Cell Menu.  Currently i had it set to AUTO I tried manual and it seems it only runs correctly if i set it to Dram/FSB=1/1. However i cant boot windows when i try this.  Now I couldnt Find anything that said MEMORY INDEX however there was a section called MCT timing Mode which i set to manual and a Row to Row Delay which i set to 2T.  And i found a REFRESH RATE which i set to 200mhz 15.6us there were other 200mhz options but that was the only thing i could find that had anything to do with MHZ.  also I found a USER CONFIG MODE which i set to manual and then Changed the CMD-ADPR Timing mode  to 2t.  There are many many many other Options And i feel that i should be setting more.  I messed with it now for around a hour Trying different Things and i cannot For the life of me Get it to Recognize 4 Gigs at ALL.  However i have gotten it to recognize 3 Gigs at 333mhz Single Channel. Please Tell me what im doing wrong be a little more specific if you could, i really appreciate your help on this.

  • K8N diamond - memory upgrade advice?

    Hi all,
I would like to ask local experts for quick advise on memory upgrade. Originally I though that this is easy task but via reading some of discussions here it doesn't seems so easy anymore....
    What I have:
    Board: K8N Diamond
    BIOS version: 1.A0
CPU Type: Athlon 3700+ San Diego
    Memory: 2x KVR400X64C25/512 Kingston (DDR400 512Mb CL2.5)
    Operating System: XP (32)
    What help do i need:
I would like to upgrade now memory either to 2 (or 3 Gb) At the same moment I would like to keep dual channel setup on 400Mhz. Which of folowing options you recommend ?
    1. adding 2x KVR400X64C25/512
    2. adding 2x ddr 400 CL 2.5 1gb module (e.g. KHX3200/1G)
    (3. adding 2x 1gb and taking out 512MB but my strongly preferred option is not to sell current 512mg modules and replace them with 1gb .. loosing money on it...)
    a) are these options possible/feasible at all? will both work as dual channel?
    b) will system exploit dual channel on 400Mhz frequency in all options? My understanding from some discussions is that with all 4 banks full frequency goes down to 333 -> 1) can I boost it with my CPU/board to 400MHz (sustainably?) 2) if not can someone tell me +- what is performance difference 400Mhz vs 333Mhz?
    I hope question is clear....
Thanks upfront, I know that this is discussed topic here but as IT amateur I would preffer to get answer customized to my computer:)
    Paul

Hello, option 3 for me 2 gigs is more than enough but for the most demanding programs, and your going to spend money anyway you do it.
yes you can force 4 banks to ddr400 but at 2t command rate, window 32bit will only see and use 3gig or so
anytime you upgrade you loose money sell the 2x512 and recover some money, and if you OC two sticks will go much further than four
    Good luck Henry9

  • K8n = irritating memory problems

I thought my K8N (754) board was pretty good when I bought it a week ago. Using Corsair XMS3200 CL2 memory (2x256mb sticks, slot 1+2) the memory now a year old and been run at 2.8v for that entire time was complelty stable at 225fsb with CPU at 2475mhz.
Now as just having put some Corsair 4400 in, I find I can't even reach 225! No matter how relaxed the settings. I've tried BIOS's,
    1.51
    1.43.
    1.41
    1.2
    1.1
    pre-release
What's happening MSI? Not that I expect an ansewer from them.
I have seen many reviews where the FSB has hit 300 while at 1:1 270 seems the norm. Speaking of which where is this divider? The Maxmem function in the DRAM settings doesn't even work
    Anyone else having this problem?

  • K8N Neo Memory problems

I'm having problems with my K8n neo and my Corsair 3200 DDR. The system will boot and run stabaliy with just one stick of 512mb. It doesn't matter which stick I use or which memory slot I use all are stable. However if I try to boot with 2 sticks for a total of 1gb ram, the system will not boot. I just get a long beep from the speaker. I have tried all possible arangements of two sticks in three slotts, but nothing works. I flashed the bios from 1.1 to 1.3 but that didn't help. I tried increaseing mem voltage but that didn't help either
    System:
    K8N Neo 7030 ver 1
    AMD 64 3000+
    mem 1) Corsair CMX512-3200PT ver 1.1; 2) Corsair CMX512-3200PT ver 3
    P/S Zalman 400W
    OS - XP home SP1
The system is not OC at all

According to Corsair, it is not reccommended to mix revisions of the same type memory.  It can, and usually does cause instability.  If I were you I would either RMA the sticks to Corsair, in hopes of getting two of the same revision, or at the least send RamGuy a message at this forum:  Official Corsair memory support forum
I hope you sort things out, and good luck.

If you are mixing 2*512MB twinmos twister with WLCSP chips with 2*256MB kingston hynix based TSOP chips
i don't think it's strange that you have those experiences .
Or is it twisters with tsop dimm packages (twister-pro) .
I under the impression that twister with wlcsp isn't the best compability for the A64's memory controller , they seem to work best at P4 setups .
Try with only one type of modules .
It's hard for the motherboard to set timings by spd if the modules are all of different programmed spd proms .
Remember that 3.4.4.8 is spd data for DDR533 operation for one pair and 3.4.4.8 for 500DDR operation for the other pair.
What (if they have any) are the spd data they have for DDR400 (it's the 200mhz/DDR400 spd data the motherboard shall read).

  • P7N Diamond - Memory Problem ???

    Hi all,
I have recently purchased a new computer and have been having trouble with it since day 1.
My current RAM (see specs bellow) is showing incorrect readings.  My tech friend is thinking that I have gotten ripped off...
    I downloaded Nvidia's nTune and
nTune seems to be reading the Memory Modules as:
    2 part numbers as KTC1G-UDIMM
the other 2 Part numbers as KHX8500D2/1GN
    In this order:
    0 dimm - KTC1G-UDIMM
    1 dimm - KHX8500D2/1GN
    2 dimm - KTC1G-UDIMM
    3 dimm - KHX8500D2/1GN
    >>> [EDIT]:  Also I'm only able to stably or somewhat stabley runn it at 800... and if I try 1066 it doesnt load my Win XP and tryed the CPU/FSB down at 1066.. while that is ok... when it comes to video or HD video is starts to play up giving me black screens and audio hiccups and a few click of a mouse and boom... time to hit reset.
Is this a Bios issue that can be updated or has the guy given me to older ram sticks??
I play Age of Conan... I know that the game has some issues... but My issue is that the computer just Restarts its self... Straight off and the continues to reboot.
There has not been reports about this regarding AoC.
    My Specs:
    Intel QX9650
    MSI P7N Diamond
    2 Kingston KHX8500D2k2/2G KIT's (4gigs)
    Gigabyte 9800gx2

Absolutely nothing helps. NOTHING. I have tried every possible thing you could expect normal user to try. This mainboard is crap. I got this to almost work with some (very expensive) Kingston memory sticks which were mentioned somewhere with this board, it only crashes few times a day now! Every component is tested at reseller AND replaced with some other brand. No help.

  • MSI K8N Diamond - Boot problems with USB devices attached.

    Hi There.
I have been seeking the forums, but havent found the answer to my problem yet.
This is how it goes with ANY USB devices attached to either of the four USB ports on the Motherboard.
When i turn on my system, it hangs in the POST right after displaying the BIOS version (Which I have updated to 1.6) - I cant use my Keyboard to get to the BIOS setup.
    Without USB devices attached...
The system boots without problems. And in Windows XP SP2 i can insert my keyboard, mouse etc. and everything works great - both USB 1.1 & 2.0 devices.
I have disabled the KB/USB.. in BIOS and I have disabled the "Boot on other device" option as well.
As I have found on this forum, a lot of people have problems with USB Front panel and D-Bracket (USB ports) connectors causing the system to hang - But my D-Bracket (USB connectors) and my front USB port is at this time DISCONNECTED - so this cannot be the problem.
The D-Bracket shows the "Bios Sign On" information - and stops at that point
Am I having a malfunctioning Motherboard here, or are there any solutions to this problem?
Please help me as I am desperate to have my system work properly.

Well I have read about that somewhere in here, but my problem is NOT with an USB hub, but with any USB device attached to the motherboard's USB slots. It is driving me nuts to be honest!! I think it might be time for RMA
What do you say guys - is my Motherboard ready for RMA, or do I have to try something specific berfore sending it to the retailer??

  • Msi K8n Diamond IDE problems

    Hi,
Can anyone help me with this problem? I brought this motherboard last July had problems with when i firts set up. And its always the same problem. When i burn a dvd or cd i get to 60% and the computers rest. Last year i just rebuild my xp with old drivers. This year, i forget and i download the lastest one and got the problem back. I belive its some thing to do with the creative labs drivers and the nvidia force drivers notl liking each other. I have update the asipi lvl and done all the microsfot updates. I just cant burn a dvd or cd without it restarting. The rest the computers works great. I have no problems with it. Can anyone please share what they did if they had the problem? Thx for your help.

    Hello !!
Did you install the Nvidia IDE SW Driver ? Deinstall it, use the ones that are provided by microsoft.
To do so open software properties, select nforce drivers and deinstall the nvidia ide driver, but only this one !
After restart the M$ drivers will be installed.

  • K8n neo2 memory problem

Been running fine for awhile now with 2 x 512mb sticks of Crucial 64Mx64 pc3200.  I just added two more sticks of identical ram but the board still only registers 1Gb instead of 2Gb.  I have set the speed to 333Mhz but still no luck, anyone got a solution to this?

Please get CPU-Z and tell us what it says under memory and spd tabs.  What volts are you using in bios for dramm?  2.75 should be ok despite red flashing warning in bios when you see it over 2.7 volts.  Note that corsair may not have given you identical chips on the modules even if they gave you the same model and part number memory.  There are no single channel DDR dimms that I know of - there are single sided and double sided.  If you have venice or later you should be able to run 4 identical double sided sided dimms (512x4) at 400 speed.  Sometimes a little more voltage (at least 2.7 in bios) helps.  Also, if your modules only have chips on one side they are either single sided 512 (pretty rare) or single sided 256s (the usual).  CPU-Z should help you sort that out.
It would help also to have your complete system specs as memory is dependent on cpu, psu, modules and bios.  See forum rules for info about creating a sig with your system specs.

  • K8N DIamond Plus- 4 sticks of memory problem

I have a new Opteron 180 with a K8N Diamond plus mb. I am thinking about getting another 2g of memory to run with my current 2g of 3200 memory to speed up Vista even more.  I thought the new chips could run 4 sticks of memory at 400 with a command rate of 2t.  I wanted to try to see if it would work so I pulled two 512 pc3200 sticks from my wifes computer and installed it. At boot up it clocked the memory to 333 (which I expected it to actually) and I got into the bios and set it to 400 with 2t command rate and everything else at default settings.  All the memory is Kingston value ram.  The computer randomly booted and I had lockups at 400, but at 333 it ran fine, but I still couldn't run the memory at 1t with 333.  I am using bios 1.33 as the other bios's always set the HT bus wrong for me. Is this just a function of the motherboard or is the memory not compatable with each other? I thought the motherboard is irrevelant since the memory controller is on the cpu?
    Thanks for your help,
    Scott

The memorycontroller IS inside the CPU.
And some are lucky to get it stable booting at DDR400 with 4 sticks, some get crashes.
However, most have drop-backs to DDR333.
It's a CPU limitation when using unbuffered memory.
Buffered memory should be able to do it, however, I'm not quite sure as this is an S939 type CPU.
You could try something if you know somebody that has buffered memory.
Sometimes it helps if you lower the other timings.
