K8N Neo Platinum (MS-7030) Hangs at BIOS

Question

Sorry if this was asked before.
My motherboard is acting a bit weird. This doesn't happen every time, but every once in a while when I reboot or power on my computer, it just 'hangs' at the BIOS screen. It doesn't attempt to boot to any device; all I see is the Platinum logo. The system is not locked up, as I can hit F10 and see the standard BIOS screen that displays about of memory, etc. I'll hit the reset button on the computer or CTRL+ALT+DEL and it usually boots then, but sometimes I have to do that more than once.
Is anyone else having this problem?. And does anyone know what to do to resolve this problem?.

You only have the singlle Sata yes ?
if so you can simplify the list (which is a good ide btw)

1. Hook up the drive to serial port 1/2/3/4. There has been issues around with people using SATA port 1 and 2 in regards to overclockability. If possible always use SATA port 3 or 4 unless doing a Raid 0+1 or 1 where 4 are required.

6. Press ENTER on "RAID Config" select "disabled" on all drives

Insert Windows cd
2. Very first thing we will do is boot into the BIOS and go into "Standard CMOS Features"
3. Check to make sure your drive is located on what SATA channel you have the drive plugged into
18. Go into "Advanced BIOS Features"
19. You will want first boot device to be CD-ROM for Windows XP/2k installs.
20. You will want the second boot device to read HARD DRIVE.
21. Save/Exit
The screen will prompt to boot from Cd
press the any key to continue
You dont need to load any drivers so can continue through the load driver stage.
When your asked where you want to place the new installation :-
a) If a new drive Select the make partition & enter the size you want in Mb & Format.it
If you have an early version of windows be aware it will only see 1st 137GB of drive. So format 1st Os Partition only. Rest of drive can be formatted subsequently with Admin tools once windows is running & has been updated at least to SP1.
b) Select existing partition or delete existing partition & proceed from a)
From here you should be able to complete the install of Windows XP/2K fine. You can go into the bios and make "hard drive" first boot if you wish now.
The above looks complicated as i've not renumbered your original steps.
the bottom line is you dont normally need to do anything with raid or install drivers
when using single sata
