K8N Neo USB Controller Drivers

System is
AMD Athlon 64 3400+
1GB Ram
MS-7030 K8N Neo Mobo
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
Western Digital 160GB Serial ATA
Athena Power ATX-450W PSU
Well, I recently did a fresh install of XP Pro, which went smoothly. I was OCing and went a little to far and my system wouldnt boot. After a bunch more problems and flashing my BIOS, I got everything working again. Now the only problem that I have left is my USB controller drivers won't install.
I had all my drivers backed up using Driver Genius and I currently have 18 drivers loaded. When I go to restore it has my High Speed USB Bridge, USB mouse, and keyboard (the 3 drivers Im currently missing) backed up but when I restore they don't do anything.
I installed Nvidia's 5.10 system drivers which I thought had the USB drivers on them and USB is enabled in BIOS, so, I dont know what to do.
Oh and in Device Manager, under USB controllers it has PCI to USB Host Controller, 2 standard OpenHCD USB Host Controllers, and 3 USB Root Hubs; but none of my 5 USB ports will work so whats the deal. Thanks in advance, Stealth

An sp2 bug workaround is to right click the "Standard Enhanced Usb Controller" (usb 2.0) and choose update driver and let it be done automaticly.
xp will then make a new copy of the neccesary files (if needed) from driver cache and dll cache .
Do the same for the two "openHCD controller" 's (usb 1.1) also if needed.

  • K8N Neo USB Problem + Boot/Shutdown issues

I just bought the K8N Neo and I am having problems with it.
First problem is usb. Sometimes when I boot up my mouse and keyboard won't work. That only happens sometimes though. The bigger problem is, that usb devices (mouse and keyboard) fail randomly. Like I'd be playing a game, then I suddenly hear the sound that windows makes when you disconnect a usb device, keyboard and mouse are dead, and then 10 seconds later I hear the sound for plugging an usb device in and all is back to normal.
I've read some of the older threads where other people are having that problem too but I have not found a solution to this yet. I'm using the two usb ports that are attached to the mainboard. Also I tried to disable "allow windows to shut down this device to save power" (or whatever it says) in the hardware device manager for the usb hubs as somebody on this forum suggested. Didn't help.
Usb keyboard/mouse support is turned on in the bios and I have the newest drivers installed for everything.
My second problem is that when I start windows (XP) I would see the loading screen but it's very very dark and nothing is happening (like it's frozen). About 15 seconds later it suddenly is brighter and I see the "loading bar" moving. Also, whenever I try to restart or turn the pc off I get a similar freeze. After clicking on Start->Shutdown the mouse cursor turns into the sandclock and I can't do anything. Can't click on any icon nor the taskbar. Takes about 5 minutes for anythingto happen. That's when I get the "turn off, restart" screen. After clicking on something I'd see "please wait while windows is shutting down" for another 5 minutes to so. Any ideas as to what could be causing this behaviour?

@gamecock: How do I get the drivers for IDE back to the Microsoft version? Do I have to run the Nvidia Setup again and remove the driver or is there a different way? (btw I'm booting from the IDE drive)
Go to your device manager, then IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, and double click on the NVIDIA nForce3 250 Parallel ATA Controller (v2.6).  You can try to roll back driver and see if it puts you back to Microsoft.  If you've upgraded from 2.5 then you will only go back with an Nvidia driver again.  If so, then choose to Update Driver instead,  at Welcome etc choose No, not this time, Next, Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), Next, and then click Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install and Next.  At the Select device driver, you should have checked Show compatible hardware and several drivers should show in the Model window, at least the Nvidia and the Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller.  The standard is the Microsoft driver.  Choose the standard driver and Next.  You will have to reboot  and hopefully things will be better.  To put it back to Nvidia you only have to repeat process about but select Nvidia or run their install again.  Later....

  • I Need USB Controller Drivers For My HP Pavillion g6 2235ca Notebook Running Windows 7 Pro 64bit?

So it has been at least a couple of months that I've been using my laptop with only ONE working USB port.
The other two do NOT work. If I go to Computer on the Start menu, and right-click on Computer, then Manage, then i go to Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller.
When I try to update them, Windows 7 tells me that an update could not be found blah blah blah...
This problem happened ever since I installed Windows 7 64bit over Windows 8 64bit.
So, can someone help me find drivers for this USB Controller? Or is this some kind of hardware failure or issue?
    Please help? Anyone...!

  • Neo2 Plat USB controller

This may get rather long winded... so I appologise in advance!
Ok, so the other day I got an Ipod Nano, and upon trying to get my computer to recognise the device, I realised that my USB drivers were not 2.0 yet.
Now, I have Windows XP Pro installed, with it automatically updated with all the latest patches including SP2, and after a bit of reading I found that I needed to manually tell it to update the USB drivers in device manager.
My device manager was showing 3 USB controllers and their associated Root Hubs. Now for each of these I let it automatically find the appropriate driver after selecting 'Update driver'. However, only one of them actually updated to a Nvidia USB2 controller, the other two retained their current drivers. The problem was that the one Controller that updated to USB2 drivers, wasnt' associated with any of the USB ports that I could plug my Nano into (ie the 4 on the mother board, and another two built into the case and plugged into the motherboard).
So now I assumed (whether correctly or incorrectly I don't know) that all the controllers should have been able to update to the USB2 drivers. In my attempt to get them to do this, I now chose to uninstall all the USB Controller and Root Hub drivers, and restart the system to allow windows to recognise and install the appropriate drivers itself.
     - This is where my current troubles started.
Upon restarting my system and logging into windows, it recognised that it required USB Controller drivers to be installed, and I chose to let it automatically find the best drivers (I had the driver CD that came with the mobo in the CD drive at the time).
However it could not find any appropriate drivers for the first two USB controllers, and found and installed the Nvidia USB2 Controller for the third one (the same one that orginially updated its driver for me I assume).
Now with no drivers installed for two of the host controllers, and unable to find any USB ports associated with the third, my MX500 mouse is no longer detected by windows (it was plugged in through out the process, and I have tried repeating the process without the mouse plugged in to no avail, it still won't detect the mouse when I plug it back in).
Now, I have tried multiple restarts, and repeating the process in hope that the appropriate driver will be found a second time, I have tried manually installing the Nvidia USB2 Controller driver on all three of the USB controllers. But even after doing this, windows would still not recognise my mouse or my housemates G5, and the only other USB device I can test them with is my new Nano, which kicked off this whole thing when it wasn't being detected to start with!
I have tried reinstalling the motherboard drivers that came with it, but nothing changed.
I also tried reinstalling my mouse drivers, as well as reseting my CMOS to defaults, but neither of these worked.
Does anyone have any suggestion at all to a fix, or where I can source appropriate drivers to try and fix this, even if they are the original non-USB2.0 drivers installed(stupidly, I forgot to write down the names of these drivers before uninstalling them...)?
Or is a re-install of windows required?
    Appropriate system details are:
    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum - Bios v1.9
Windows XP Pro - Updated to with all the latest patches including SP1 and SP2.
    Logitech MX500 mouse.
Again, sorry for the long winded post, I am just trying to cover all bases, and explain exactly what I did, and have tried. Knowing my luck with computers, the only way this will be rectified is with a full format... So any suggestions are much appreciated.

I realise that the USB drivers provided on the CD were only for 98/me.
Are the Nvidia USB2.0 drivers I refered to it installing the 98/ME version?
However when I did the auto Update Driver, it asked for the disk containing a EHCI file of some kind, so I insterted my mobo CD thinking that it may be on it. After doing this, the installation continued and finished, announcing that the Nvidia USB2.0 Controller was now installed, if this is the Win 98/ME version then that makes sense now I suppose.
I am aware that the 'enhanced' USB drivers = 2.0, but my computer is not able to find any of those drivers, is there some possible way that uninstalling the drivers also deleted them from the windows driver archive?
As when I do a manual listing, the Nvidia ones are the only one that it can find to install for USB devices (or don't the EHCI drivers appear under the USB category in the first list?)
Currently in device manager, the two USB controllers are showing up as Unknown devices called "Universal Serial Bus Controller", not as unknown EHCI's (if thats of any relevance).
Might also try borrowing a mates Windows XP SP2 edition CD, and see if it can find the appropriate drivers on that.
Also now I am at work on a computer with a working mouse, I have been googling more on this, and the only reference I could find as to why my mouse wasn't being detected, suggests that if you leave a USB device plugged in while going through the process of uninstalling the USB drivers, then reinstalling them, it will no longer 'ever' be detected by windows, until a full windows reinstall is done. This definately coincides with what I am finding, I just wish I had other USB devices to test it with. Has anyone else ever heard of this occuring?
Thanks for your response Syar2003, appreciate it.

  • Windows 7 on Satellite L875D-S7332- Usb Controller not Identified.

Usb Controller not Identified in device drivers.Somehow I just cant get USB Controller Drivers for this laptop and Windows 7. I read all the posts on this site and none of them helped.Do you maybe know the exact drivers so l can add them to windows 32 bit directory and manually install them as all other methods failed. I attach a drivers screen print.

Solved this in an unorthodox way. I had a Lenovo driver disk for a machine that also uses AMD and therefore likely the same chipset. I installed the usb drivers for the Lenovo from the Lenovo disk and it worked ! Attached is all the USB  controllers it now finds.I attach the new screenshot of devices So if anyone have a similar problem, try the Lenovo USB drivers. I find it peculiar that Toshiba doesnt have these USB drivers on their download page for my model Satellite L875D-S7332. Maybe they should add it. It took a good 5 hours to try and fix this using Toshiba's driver page.

    3. Boot from MS-DOS boot diskette and get a:\> prompt.
    4. Type "", then press ENTER
    5. The flash program will then ask "Do you want to save BIOS?", please press "N" for no. The when you see Press 'Y' to program or 'N' to Exit, please press "Y" to continue.
    6. After flashing complete, remove floppy and reset the system .
    7. Press DELETE or F1 when prompted at first reboot after flashing.

    Drivers & Needed Files:
(Note: All these drivers are for Windows XP.)
Leaked Nvidia nForce3 Chipset Drivers Version 4.40
(Please use at your own risk, these are LEAKED drivers. Password for the .zip file is "ocworkbench rules". Also, you will need to rename the WinXP_2K folder in IDE to either WinXP or Win2K else the installer doesn't pick it up.) Thanks for the link Wonkanoby!
*NEW* Leaked Nvidia nForce3 Chipset Drivers Version 5.03
More leaked drivers? Seems some parts of the drivers are older and some are newer.
    1. Windows XP Service Pack 1A (Web Install) -or- Windows XP Service Pack 1A (Full Install)
    2. Microsoft DirectX 9.0b (Web Install) -or- Microsoft DirectX 9.0b (Full Install)
    3. Nvidia nForce3 Chipset Drivers Version 4.24
    4. AMD Athlon 64 Processor Driver Version 1.1.0.14
    5. Nvidia Video Card Driver Version 56.72 -or- Omega Nvidia Video Card Driver Version v1.5303
(The Omega drivers are third party drivers optimized for gaming, most prefer these over the standard Nvidia drivers.)
    5. ATI Video Card Driver Version 4.7 -or- Omega ATI Video Card Driver Version 2.5.51
(The Omega drivers are third party drivers optimized for gaming, most prefer these over the standard ATI drivers.)
    6. Onboard Sound Driver (Realtek AC'97 Audio Codec) Version A3.61
It is HIGHLY reccomended that you install the drivers/needed files in the order listed above. Please note that there are two #5's because you either install one or the other depending on your video card, do not install both of them.
You will come across a problem here though. You can't install the chipset drivers without installing the Windows service pack and DirectX first, but the Windows service pack and DirectX installs need the internet to download files and you won't have working internet until you install the chipset drivers. Here's what I did to get around this. Instead of downloading the web install versions of Windows service pack and DirectX, download the full version and and put them along with all the other drivers on a backup hard drive or burn them to a CD, this way you will have all the drivers you need when it's time to install them and none of them will require the internet to download files.
Another note when installing drivers. Apparently the Nvidia chipset drivers also come with drivers for the onboard sound, but people seem to agree that the Realtek onboard sound drivers are better. When you are installing the Nvidia chipset drivers, just be sure to uncheck the box for sound drivers when it asks you which drivers you would like to install. Now you can safely install the Realtek drivers without any chance of conflicting sound drivers. Thanks for the tip Wonkanoby!

oh.  IIRC the installer just says USB 2.0 will be fully functional after SP1 is installed.  So after you install SP1 you go into device manager and u click update driver and it will auto search and update the driver.
Simplicity-wise, i guess its pretty much equal.  It might take less preparation to just copy DX9 full onto a CD and install that first, then nforce driver, then right away you have yoru internet connection.
but i dunno.. i guess i will try it your way this time when my RMA"d board comes.

  • K8N Neo Platinum, USB devices keep losing power

    I have a K8N Neo Platinum with a 3000+ AMD 64 chip...
I have a USB problem whereby my wireless USB adaptor just keeps losing power, when I look at the adaptor itself all the power has gone and no lights are on. Unplugging the device and re-inserting it does not get any response from windows. Also, after this has happened, my other USB devices (ie mouse) continue to work fine UNLESS I unplug them and re-insert them. If I do this they also will not power back up. I've tried various adaptors from Netgear and alll of them have the same problems, its like they are causing the USB on my system to fail.
This happens with both the motherboard rear ports and the case front ports and is really driving me mad. Running XP Pro SP 2
I have this problem a couple years ago, and now I've gone back to using the same machine after a reformat the same is happening again. I've installed the latest nFoce drivers and in device management I've turned OFF power management for the USB Root Hubs but it's still happening.
    Any ideas?

Check to see if there is a wire running from your Front USB ports to the #10 slot of your USB block which connects to the motherboard header.
USB connector block layout which corresponds to the pin layout on boards with the Intel spec for USB. Do not cut the pin on the MOBO. You are removing/cutting the wire to the connector block from the case.
    2 4 6 8 10(this wire, #10, not needed)

If you find a wire leading to the #10 spot on the block, remove that wire. My block has tabs so that you can pull the wire out, or you could snip/cut the wire leading to that position--if you cut the wire, be careful to cut the correct one and cut it in such a way that it may be repaired if you make a mistake.  Make sure you wrap the wire, the exposed end/s, you remove/cut with electrical tape so as not to accidentally cause a short.
