Everything works good but i have one strange problem with my comp ...
When i turn off system and then i will turn off power supply (Antec Neo Power 480W) my comp is unplugged (no power).
Then when i turn on power supply (switch on Antec Neo Power 480W) immediately my comp start to live ! But ! There is no system booting ! Only what happen is fans on CPU, mobo, Graphick card and other fans starts working, my neon lights start flashing etc ...
Then when i push start button system starts booting ...
The problem is seriuos, coz when i turn off my comp and then in the night they turn of the power and then they turn on the power in my home my comp will start to live ! Fans start to works, neons starts to light etc !
I'm sure i have correct plugged every wires to my mobo ( i'v check few times with an intstruction).
What the problem ?

i called .after stateing my issue i was quickly told to rma the psu. :biggthumbsdown:i called again dreading not haveing the use of my computer for more than a day .and was told this is an issue with abit av8 mobos and msi neo plat. 2.there tech team was currently testing this issue.i was told wo email [email protected] with system specs and issue.i was also told
there was no reports of hardware failure caused by our issue. :undecided:that was monday and no reply yet.the support person told me that this was a circuitry standard that was used on the 2 different mobo.      i love the power supply.i hope this issue[i know its small]is resolved easily.ive always used antecs products and never had any kind of problems.i still recomend them as well as msi.

  • MSi K8N Neo2 platinum: Power problem?

    Hello everybody, I'm from vietnam
I have bought a K8N Neo2 Platinum with AMD3000+ (venice, E6) + PSU Acbel 300W (I thibk that it' enough, because I just use this machine for everyday co). But I have a bug:
I shutdown my PC, but I don't disconnect it from the electricity, then, i can start it again.
I shutdown my PC, but I disconnect it from the electricity, then, i cannot start it again- the system starts, the fans move, but just that. i have to clear CMOS, then, the PC can run normal.
I have flash BIOS to the newest (V1.B), but it can;t help!
Thanks a lot for your aid!

i think you need a new PSU.

  • Very strange power problem...

    Hey guys (and girls ofcourse),
I'm having a very strange power problem with my late 2007 2.2Ghz santa rosa macbook.
Can you guys help me determine what the problem could be?
Here's what happened prior, when the macbook was still working. I got home from work, plugged my adapter into the wall, and it started charging. I left it on the table, and when I came back from the diner table I continued working, but suddenly noticed my macbook wasn't charging anymore. (the orange/green led wasn't lighting up but i was able to work on battery power)
I thought it was the poweradapter, so I went to the apple store the next day to lend one to test it. That didn't work, so it's not the adapter.
So then I started thinking it must be the magnetic DC connector. So I ordered that from the guys at ifixit, (since it's out of warranty) but I replaced it and it's not working.
I don't think it's the logic board, because I was able to continue working until I ran out of battery power. And I also don't think it's the battery connector, because if i'm not mistaking, the macbook can run without battery as well, but mine can't anymore.
Now I can't get any life out of my mac anymore...
Might there be something I overlooked?
    Any suggestions are definately welcome!
    Thanks a lot.
    Timo from Belgium.

    Hi Timo,
I think i have the same problem, my mac is not working without battery in it. and it wont charge it.
    i wrote a post here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2105648&tstart=0
let me know if you have fixed the problem

  • K8N Neo2 strange behavior with SATA enable DMA transfers

K8N Neo2 with Maxtor 6B250S0 250GB SATA drive on SATA3 and Maxtor 6B200S0 200GB SATA drive on SATA4.  No RAID.  I use SATA3/4 because I have read that SATA1/2 are not locked with the PCI bus.  I do overclock a bit.     I have SATA1/2 disabled in the bios.
The 250GB drive is for my applications, and the 200GB drive is for holding backups.  I use Drive Image 2002 to create image files of my partitions.  To create an image of my main partition, Drive Image boots to DOS.  I noticed that the drive performance under DOS was slow.  After a bit of testing, I discovered that enabling DMA transfers for SATA fixes the problem.  This makes sense, because under Windows the IDE drivers provide DMA access, but under DOS the hardware itself needs to provide DMA function.  But here is what's strange... I have to enable DMA for both SATA channels!     So even though I am using only one of the channels, and have the other disabled in the bios, I have to enable DMA transfers for both channels in order to have good performance under DOS.
This occurs under both 1.4 and 1.5 bios versions.  This isn't a big problem and appears to be just a bios bug of some sort, but I thought I would post my findings here in case someone else is getting poor performance under DOS.
BTW, does anyone know why these options default to disabled in the bios?

BTW, does anyone know why these options default to disabled in the bios?
It makes sense when windows and the drivers provide it .
But not e.g when installing an OS or doing dos based or windows preinstall enviroment imaging .
I have also thought it's strange they have it disabled at default .
Atleast they should be enabled with "load optimized defaults" .
Just something we have to be aware off i guess .
This is one of the bios entrys i always ajust when starting with a default bios load .
Nice tip about having both enabled , wasn't aware of that .
Just been having the habit of enabling both 1/2 and 3/4 each time even if ports are used or not .

  • MSI k8n Neo2 Platinium Stutter Problem

    Hi
2 weeks ago I upgrade my system from AMD2500+ to AMD64 3000. And problems started. My first MOBO was k8t NEo2. I gave it back because of stutter. Everybody said that was PSU problem and I changed my PSU to TAGAN 480W and MOBO to MSI k8n Neo2 Platinium.
After a Fresh winXP install, SP2, nforce drivers and nvidia drivers. I test the system with Flight Simulator 9 and stutter is there
I tried lots of things. Uninstalled all pci cards. checked irqs, used pci latency tool no success.
    Any ideas?

turn off any virus checker for a start
Theres a heck of alot of things that can cause stuttering..
turn off agp fast writes, turn off cool and quiet, turn off dynamic overclocking, ensure up to date gfx and platform drivers, ensure you are not overheating, what temps have you got on cpu and gfx?
do not run corecenter or any other background app that might have bugs in it, check the cpu usage of all running tasks, something might be spiking and causing stutter.
what drivers are you running with (list all)
is it only when playing networked or standalone too? what directx have you got installed? have you run memtest86 and checked your memory? are you overclocking at all? are you overclocking too much?
what are your benchmark scores for 3dmark 03? do they compare to others with similar spec?

  • MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum RAM problem

    My spec:
    AMD64 3000+ Venice
    1gb RAM Elixir
    1 x Maxtor 120gb IDE
    1 x Maxtor 200gb SATA
    1 x Maxtor 200gb IDE
    ATI Radeon x800 pro 256mb
I have a K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboard, the problem is that when I try to add in another 512mb stick the system won't even boot up. I have tried other brands and amounts but still to no avail.
I boot the system up and the monitor won't even switch on, but if I take out the 512 stick it works fine.
    Any ideas?

    Not quite.
    Use the color codes .
If you have matched sticks in density (size) and timings (spd data) you can run dual channel.
This means having one stick in memory channel 1 ( green ) and another in memory channel2 (purple )
Theese are physically wired next to eachother on the motherboard , from cpu and upwards..
You can not do that , with that mismatched modules the cpu can't initialize it's memory controller .
So your only choice is to run two modules with single memory channel config .
Use the colorcodes to make sure you use signgle memory channel config (since you have mismatched sticks and the A64 memory controller cant run those in dual mode)
So your choice is to use either both green slots or both of the purple ones .
Place the one module with the higest cas rating (slowest) in the green slot with the lowest slot number (marked on the board) .
And the other stick on the green slot that remains .

When i connect all my hdd's the computer goes blank in the winxp startup installation, just before i get to chose where to install winxp pro, i stoppes to respond, and that is when i load both driver's on the diskette, the raid and the storage driver that is, hope you guy's can help.

before they werent raid'ed and every thing was ok, now i raid those 2 160gb seagate, and when all is connected, it stoppes to respond.

Don't know if this helps, but your getting it anyway
When installing windows don't have any Hard drives in front of your raid array, assuming that's where your putting your OS . Unplug them whilst windows is installed. This is due to the fact that windows places %systemdrive% as the first drive it sees (e.g 1'st master) , meaning it will be C: and hosts the os boot files .
    (Taken from Syar2003)
Therefore if installing your raid on Sata 3/4 unplug all IDE Hard Drives plus SATA 2/3.
Once windows is installed Plug 'em all back in

  • K8N Neo2 Plat power and bios question

    I have a K8N Neo2 Plat. I use a UltraProducts 500W xconnect PSU and a BFG 6800 GT OC.
A couple weeks ago the 6800 died. I contacted BFG and they sent me a new one.
The new one died the same way after a week. They said to check the power levels on the +12 rail.
In windows using softare tests it reports 13.58
in the bios it reports 12.22
both are over the allowed variance.
Ultra products told me to check with my motherboard manufacturer to see if there was a BIOS setting that would let me set the power on the +12V rail. Is that possible?
Is that something my K8N Neo2 Plat can do?

No, you cannot lower the 12V-rail by a bios setting. I really don't see what they mean by that.
Your motherboard does, however, regulate the power that comes from the power supply. Within certain margins it can lower the voltage and keep it steady. Your videocard can do the same. Now, depending on the tolerance (quality) of your hardware, you can vary on those margins. But on any piece of hardware, there is a point on which it cannot correct/lower a voltage that is too high. It then simply shuts down or dies.
To my opinion, the PSU-maker gave you a very funny piece of advice. What he actually says is that their psu may give too high a voltage (I talk about the 13+ now), but your hardware should correct this. That's not the way it works: they should make psu's that give 12V where it should. So, I'd demand a replacement. But, before you do: use a multimeter to measure the 12V-rail. You cannot trust the board's measurement too well.
But then, like Stick  says, I think that 12.22 is within mentioned margins. 13.58V is too high. So, that's why you should first measure using a multimeter. Measure for a longer time. System idle, system full load. Write everything down and see how steady this psu is. If 12V dances arround, replace it.

  • K8N Neo2 Hang Boot Problem

First of all here is my configuration
    Athlon64 3500+ sk939
    MSI K8N Neo2
    2x512Mb DDR400 VData
    Asus V9999GT (Geforce6800GT)
    WD Raptor 72Gb 10k SATA
    Maxtor 200Gb SATA
I have two different type of problems:
    1. Sometimes the boot hang up in "Detecting IDE driver" section after the DVDRW detection (probably when is looking for SATA storage unit)
    2. WindowsXP boot stuck for 5-10 min with black screen and next boot up normaly
I've tryied a LOT of different bios settings, XP driver combination... it looks like that the second issue happens more frequently after nForce chipset driver installtion, but surely i cannot ignore them!
    Anyone can help me?

Are you using Nvidia IDE or Microsoft IDE driver ?
Nvidia IDE give some people problems - Test uninstall / install Nforce driver and uncheck Nvidia IDE.
Also be sure that all your IDE devices are healthy.
If nothing else of the "ordinarie" solutions helps.....
Remove any high powered case-fans that are connected directly to the MoBo´s 3-pin connector and connect them to the PSU 4-pin molex.
This happened to me once - Hang on IDE detection / long time before booting XP - Removed a Titan 120mm case-fan from
    Mobo 3-pin - Booted perfectly.

  • K8N Neo2 Firewire 400 problem

I just got the MSI K8N Neo2 Mobo which has a Firewire 800 plug on the board. The salesperson told that there was a cable with 2 firewire 400 plugs included but this was not in the case. The distributor here in Denmark doesn't have this optional plug and won't take it home.
So my question is how to get hold of this plug ?
    Please help!
    Thank's

the k8 neo fisr2 comes with 2 firewire ports both 400 speed one is a mini 4 pin the outher is a standard six pin.
the mother board does not come with firewire, it does come with 1 floppy, 1 ide ,and one d bracket, as well as a sata power adapter , and 2 sata cables,
the neo2 looks like it comes with the same cables, although i am not sure about the number and type of ports.
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=608
but i would suspect they dont have 800 cables out yet as the number of devices that is actually firewire800 are still very few except for a few external drives.
But one place to look is any store that handles apple computers, they seemed to have adopted 800 more.

    Hello,
In the BIOS you must set the FSB:DRAM ratio to 1:1.
Set the HTT (hypertransport Ratio to x4)
Set the CPU ratio to x4 (just too see if it will work.)
    Set the FSB to 250Mhz
    Set the Vcore to 1.45v.
Set the memory timings to SPD (or default values for DDR500)
Set the memory voltage to 2.7v, 2.75v or 2.8v.
    Save and exit
Then let it boot from the memtest bootdisk.
Use memtest to see if it is ok, test for a long time, over 1 hour.
    http://www.memtest.org/download/1.55.1/memtest86+-1.55.1.floppy.zip
Tight timings and high FSB is even better
I have the same problem I can go as high as fsb 219 without tweaking anything but the FSB. My system is about the same only my ram is ddr 400 so what should my mem volt and timg should be set to?

  • Ibook G3 Strange Power Problem

    Hi People
My Ibook has a strange power issue, it boots up when the battery is in. But as soon as you plug the power supply in it just switches off.
So basically it only works on the battery. The battery does charge though.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Luke

Hi Luke and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
This is the procedure from the service manual for the Dual USB:
"The computer runs with battery, but not with the power adapter plugged into
    wall outlet
    1. Try known-good power outlet.
    2. Try known-good power adapter and power cord.
    3. Reset the power manager by pressing the key combination Control-Option-Shiftpower.
Warning: Make sure you do not hold down the "fn" key when resetting the
    power manager.
Warning: Resetting the power manager will permanently remove a RAM disk, if
present, and all of its contents. You will also need to reset the date and time
(using the Date & Time control panel).
    4. Replace the DC board.
    5. Replace the logic board."

  • A strange power problem I can live with, but would like to know what it is

Ok, for about 6 months or so, my 1 GHz 12-inch PowerBook with 768 MB of RAM, has been having a strange problem with charging the battery. The problem has recently gotten a little stranger, but nothing too major (it could probably be fixed with a part I'm guessing). Sometimes, when I plug it in, the battery icon on my Menu Bar will change from charging, to running on the battery and back to charging, until it will finally stop changing and charge up. Now, let's get to the strange part. Last week, when I ran it off of the battery and plugged it in to charge, the battery icon on the Menu Bar changed into the fully charged symbol (it will show a power plug, telling you that it is fully charged up). I also noticed that the LED's on the battery itself were not indicating a battery charging process. I played around with it (unplugging the AC adapter and plugging it back in) and it eventually started charging again, and it fully charged the battery. Today, I did the same thing, ran it off of the battery, and when I plugged it in, it eventually started charging without me fooling with it. Anybody have any ideas? I thought this was kinda strange.

  • K8N Neo2 and 6800 Problems

System 3500 939 cpu K8N Neo mainboard 6800 Nvidia Card 1024 Ram XP PRO SP2
I have tried various Drivers 61.77 67.03 65.73 71.20 66.81 66.93 71.24 and many things listed on various forums to stop my computer from crashing 30 seconds into a game. At the momment I have formatted my hard drive and only have Mainboard drivers , video drivers & Directx 9.0c,  Colin Mcrae  & UT2004. Games still crashing. I have installed 3 diferent video cards ASus geforce 2 , MSI 4200 TI and Radeon 9800 pro all 3 cards run perfect  on my system except Asus and 4200 Ti are slow with frame rates. Otherwise no crashes and lock ups. As soon as the 6800 goes back in my system all games crash. Took my card to a friend who has a n force 2 Gigabyte board and my 6800 runs perfect. One thing I noticed on my system was with an older version of DirectX it took longer for my games to crash.
Any help would be appreciated but after all this I think I will never buy Nvidia again, my previous systems I have always had Via mainboard chipsets and have never had a problem. What a big mistake I made this time!

Okay thanks for your replys disabling fast writes did nothing to fix my problem or changing any settings in Riva tuner like alot of people on other forums were saying.
I have now seemed to have fixed the problem and it was such a simple solution I can't believe I hadn't tried it before I'm kicking myself!
My LCD monitor display likes to be set at 1280x1024 okay well guess what I had never tried running a game at that resolution. So in my game resolution settings when I set it to 1280x1024 I have no lock ups or crashes. If I change the resolution either on my desktop or in the game settings it crashes. I can't believe I never tried it before. Thanks everyone I will try different resolutions now.
