K8NGM-V and SATA modes

 Hi,
I have a K8NGM-V motherboard, and I have recently bought a Hitachi T7K250 hard drive. With that hard drive, I have the option to enable the "3.0 Gb/s" transfer mode, I think this is equivalent to the SATA-2 mode. My question is if my motherboard supports this kind of transfer. I haven't found anything in the manual, so I want to ask here first before trying.
 Thanks in advance.

Thank you all, I was afraid to put my hard drive into lower orbit or something. Just for the record, I confirm that the K8NGM-V has only two SATA ports, both working perfectly. Too bad I can't overclock the CPU, but already found a way to overclock the onboard 6100.
 Thanks again!
and congrats for your T7K250 drive, its really nice choice

  • Cannot start after change sata mode

    Hi
I have a probook 4510s i try to install win Xp instead of opensuse. Before  installing  XP, i change a SATA mode from AHCI to IDE. XP was installed ok but when i try to switch back from IDE to AHCI, my laptoop freeze and got black screen. Now when i start a laptop, nothing happens only a HDD led indicator blink. Can enybody help me?? thanks
    Sorry for bad english

    Hi:
You have to install the SATA ACHI drivers for the notebook which is why that happened. Switch it back to IDE mode for now and then follow the procedures below to get it to work in ACHI mode:
Download and install the chipset driver first:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
    Download the Matrix Storage Manager:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
I could only find two of the files the manual said to copy to a flash drive.  So, you can download this utility from Intel which will automatically create a floppy disk with the required files and follow the instructions on Page 12-19 of the below link:
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2800&DwnldID=18860&lang=eng
Read this manual and follow the procedures on pages 12 - 19
    http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01600726/c01600726.pdf
After you do this you should be able to change your BIOS setting back to ACHI.

  • Equium P200D how to enable SATA mode to AHCI so i can install OSx86

Hi im trying to install OSx86 on my new Equium P200D-139 laptop that i bought this week.
I need to set SATA mode to AHCI. All other pc's i have used i have been able to do this in the bios but with this laptop the bios is so cut down the option isnt there.
Does anyone know how to enable AHCI mode so i can get OSx86 to boot.
    Thanks
    Mark

If I'm not mistaken, you get the famous "Still waiting for root device" message, right?
Well, I really do not have many experience in Mac operating systems, but this appears because of SATA drives and yes, you are right, AHCI mode works for most notebooks or desktop PCs.
I think there is no way to enable this option. But maybe you can find help looking for some instructions on osx86project in google.

  • How to set HHD to sata mode?

    hihi...
may i know how to set my sata HHD into sata mode? i heard from my friend tat the motherboard will use IDE mode by default(even we r using sata HHD)..
got to do with ACHI? sorry i forget the spelling.

If you don't know what it is, then best leave it at IDE mode.
Is not only faster but also works with any Operating System you want to run on it.
IDE mode = Native SATA mode.
AHCI = Advanced Host Controller Interface SATA mode = but is mostly slower unless you use SSD-drives.
RAID = Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks
For normal usage of 1 harddiskdrive and max speed, IDE is the best setting.
thanks, may i know wat is ssd-drive?
n no wonder, after i reinstall win vista using AHCI mode  i notice my sys is very slow..
does it mean tat if im not doing backup or imaging den i can use IDE mode..
it there any info for read up? thanks

I've used Live Update to update my board and SATA controller, but in device manager, I'm informed that the SATA controller cannot start.  During startup, I have no option to configure my two new SATA drives, and there's no evidence that my system detects them whatsoever.

  • Confused about SATA RAID and SATA DVD

I'm planning to build a system based on the P965 Platinum board and I'm considering implementing a RAID 0 array.  However, I have read of many problems with RAID and SATA DVD writers.  Are most problems just due to BIOS problems or are there more inherent problems?  Are people successfully running this board with a RAID array and SATA DVD?  Can you boot from the SATA DVD drive?
If I have a pair of drives in a RAID array, can I add further hard drives that will not be in a RAID array?  I won't trust RAID for all my data and I don't want to use mirroring.
I'm confused and I can't seem to find any definitive answers on this.

Thanks Maesus.  Will the drive from an AHCI machine only work in another machine set up with AHCI?
Teresa, yes but not always, this AHCI is driver bound. And because this AHCI is driver bound, it makes it hard to change from IDE to AHCI for a IDE driver installed OS, as the OS doesn't have AHCI driver installed. So when you change to AHCI setting in the BIOS, the OS refuse to load further. AHCI is driver bound, and it is also controller/chipset bound. If you installed an OS with AHCI settings enabled in an AMD system, you may not run that in an AHCI Intel system. Vice versa.
Quote from: Teresa on 20-May-07, 19:51:36
I ask this because there's a thread here that gives instructions on how to turn on AHCI after Win XP has been installed.  That tends to suggest that AHCI makes a difference to an operating system install.
This is only because the OS installer doesn't have AHCI driver built-in. If you slip-streamed your OS installer with AHCI drivers, your OS installation will go smoothly.

Or is it a case that the disk's data can still be read on another machine without AHCI but it can't be used to run Win XP?  I just need to know that I can pull my data hard disk out of my system and access it on another older machine that doesn't have ACHI.
Yes, the disk's data still can be read anywhere else. Just that it cannot be used to boot up to WinXP, if that WinXP doesn't have AHCI driver installed.

Hopefully one day soon I'll reach a critical threshold of knowledge and actually start ordering the parts for my build.
    Teresa
Let's make it simple. Treat IDE, AHCI and RAID-0 as different HDD drivers. WinXP has IDE driver built-in. Vista should have all drivers built-in. IDE and AHCI data structure is the same. However, RAID-0 data structure stored in the HDD is different and is controller-bound.
For AHCI mode installed HDD, you can read in IDE mode without single issue.
For IDE mode installed HDD, you can also read in AHCI mode without issue, provided AHCI drivers are installed upfront.
For RAID-0 installed HDD, you cannot read in IDE or AHCI mode, and you may not be able to read in other different controller/chipset systems even though you set them as RAID-0 exactly.

    1. You have a pre-release Beta 1 version of what will become Firefox 4 in like 5 or 6 months. Unless you are intending to test it for flaws and report those flaws to help in the development process, don't use it.
    2. Did you create a new Profile for 4.0b1, and are you using that Profile with it? ''That isn't done automatically when you install 4.0b1, and those of us who have been doing the "testing" for many years consider a new Profile as the basis of doing out testing.''
IMO, Mozilla is making a huge mistake by directly offering these beta versions to the general public.
Also IMO. if you want to play with 4.0b1, use the Portable Firefox 4.0beta version to minimize any conflicts with a currently installed version of Firefox, and to eliminate the need for creating a new Profile for 4.0 Beta #:
Download Firefox Portable Test to your hard drive and double click the '''FirefoxPortableTest_4.0_Beta_#_English.paf.exe''' file. The entire installation (including a new Profile for "Portable") will be self-contained in the \Program Files\FirefoxPortableTest\ folder and won't interfere with an "official" version that you already have installed. Your Profile will be in the \Program Files\FirefoxPortableTest\Data\profile\ folder.
The "down side" is that Firefox Portable won't launch if any other version of Firefox is already running.

  • Reporting Services in both SharePoint 2013 connected and native mode?

Is it possible to configure Reporting Services (SQL Server 2014) to support both SharePoint 2013 connected mode and local Report Server in native mode on the same server using multiple instances of RS? The reason for this setup is to avoid having to purchase
SharePoint Enterprise CALs for other users than analysts and still be able to publish standard reports to all employees.
Management and analysts -> Custom reports published through SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (SP2013 ECALs and SQL Server 2014 core license). Data alerts and Power View enabled if possible.
All employees -> Standard reports published through Native Mode Report Server (SQL Server 2014 core license). Possible subscriptions.
I find the official documentation a bit lacking in this area but can't find anything stating against the above. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could confirm before planning the installs.
What I'm aiming for is somewhat similar to the "2 Tier Topology" described at: Example
License Topologies and Costs for SQL Server 2014 Self-Service Business Intelligence
With the difference that there is a separate SQL Server 2014 server used both by SharePoint and as a standalone BI-server.
SharePoint EE + SQL Server 2014 EE
    Excel Services
SSRS Add-in (Reporting Services, Power View)
SQL Server DB for SP Content, Configuration and Service Application DB:s
SQL Server 2014 EE - SharePoint + Standalone for BI
    SSRS SharePoint Mode
    SSRS Native Mode
SSAS (Not in SharePoint mode, skipping PowerPivot for now. Would Power View still work?)
SQL Server DB for Data Warehouse
= 1 x SharePoint EE Server Licence, 2 x SQL Server 2014 EE Server Licenses?
    Deployment
Topologies for SQL Server BI Features in SharePoint - Actually gives a good overview in the section "PowerPivot for SharePoint
2013 and Reporting Services Three Server Deployment". Just remove PowerPivot Service from Server 1 and change the Analysis Services in Server 2 to a regular native multidimensional mode. Server 2 would also be used for native Reporting Services.
Fallback or even beneficial option to install SSRS in SharePoint mode on the SQL Server instance used for content and configuration?

    Hi Daniel Wikar,
As per my understanding, you want to install two SQL Server instances on the same server, and configure one of the Reporting Services to SharePoint integrated mode, another to native mode.
According to my knowledge, multiple instances of Reporting Services on the same computer, where one instance runs in SharePoint integrated mode and the other instance runs in native mode is supported. But we must run all report server instances at the same
level. For example, if we are using SQL Server 2014, all report server instances must be SQL Server 2014.
Besides, Analysis Services and Reporting Services can be installed as standalone servers, in scale-out configurations, or as shared service applications in a SharePoint farm. Installing the services in a farm enables BI features that are only available in
SharePoint, including PowerPivot for SharePoint and Power View.

  • The difference between VTP server and transparent mode on Catalyst Switch.

    Hello
I have a question about the difference between VTP server mode and VTP transparent mode on general catalyst switch.
Basically VTP server mode can create and modify VLAN configuration but  actually there is not any VLAN configuration through running-config, is it true?  When I checked it on Cat3550, certainly there is not VLAN configuration on VTP server mode. But VTP transparent can create VLAN and configuration but does not synchronize with other switch VLAN status. I appreciate any related information and reason of the VTP server mode specification, thank you very much.

  • What is difference between TEXT mode and BINARY mode?

    Hi,
What is difference between TEXT mode and BINARY mode? In TEXT mode what is "ENCODING DEFAULT".
    OPEN DATASET wl_filename FOR INPUT
                              IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
      OPEN DATASET wl_filename FOR INPUT
                              IN BINARY MODE .

    Hi vishnu,
    1. files like .TXT files are considered to be text,
and other files like .EXE . DOC etc are binary files.
    2. In text files, after each line, there are two
       internal binary characters
one for line feed and another one for newline.
    3. But, we don't have any meaning for it,
when we view such files in notepad, for eg.
Hence, to only get the understandable content,
we should open such TXT files, in text mode.
(we can also open them in binary mode,
but we will get two extra characters after each line,
and such two extra characters are meaningless
      for interpreting the text)
    4. In binary mode, each byte by byte is considered,
       without any meaning.
    regards,
    amit m.

  • What is the diffrence between ASCII and BIN mode

    Hello All,
What is the diffrence between ASCII and BIN mode
    Regards,
    Lisa.

    'ASC' :
ASCII format. The table is transferred as text. The conversion exits are
carried out. The output format additionally depends on the parameters
    CODEPAGE, TRUNC_TRAILING_BLANKS, and TRUNC_TRAILING_BLANKS_EOL.
    'IBM' :
ASCII format with IBM codepage conversion (DOS). This format correspond
to the 'ASC' format when using target codepage 1103. This codepage is
often used for data exchange by disc.
    'DAT' :
Column-by-column transfer. With this format, the data is transferred as
with ASC text. However, no conversion exists are carried out and the
columns are separated by tab characters. This format creates files that
can be uploaded again with gui_upload or ws_upload.
    'DBF' :
The data is downloaded in dBase format. Because in this format the file
types of the individual columns are included, import problems, for
example, into Microsoft Excel can be avoided, especially when
    interpreting numeric values.
    'WK1' :
The data is downloaded in Lotus 1-2-3 format.
    'BIN' :
Binary format. The data is transferred in binary format. There is no
formatting and no codepage conversion. The data is interpreted row by
row and not formatted in columns. Specify the length of the data in
parameter BIN_FILESIZE. The table should consist of a column of type X,
because especially in Unicode systems the conversion of structured data
into binary data leads to errors.

  • Cisco Jabber for Windows in Extend and Connect mode and making outbound calls

    Hi guys,
I've set up Cisco Jabber for Windows to use Extend and Connect to control a remote PBX endpoint. I've configured the required CTI-RD device, remote destinations, associated the users to the line and added the devices to end-user controlled device. The extend and connect part is working flawlessly without any issues. I'm able to receive inbound calls on the remote PBX endpoint and control the call (hold, resume, transfer etc.) using the Jabber call window that pops up.
However, I'm unable to make any outbound calls via the Jabber client when in extend and Connect mode. Reading the Extend and Connect guide, I need to configure Dial Via Office (DVO) Reverse. So when the user initiates a Dial-Via-Office reverse call, CUCM calls and connect to the Extend and Connect device (CTI-RD). CUCM then calls and connects to the number the user dialled and finally connects the two call legs.
After attempting to configure DVO-R for Jabber for Windows in Extend and Connect mode following the CUCM feature services guide, i'm unable to get any outbound calls working. From RTMT, i am receiving the following Termination Cause Code: (27) Destination out of order. What i also notice is that there is no calling number for that trace either. I would've thought that the calling party would've been the Enterprise Feature Access (EFA) number.
Has anyone got this working or can provide some guidance?

Hi this may solve u'r problem
In Oracle Reports Designer, bitmap mode, you can make "C"
bold and in a different font and point size than "c". This
is because you are generating postscript output.
Postscript is a universal printer language and any
postscript printer is able to interpret your different
    design instructions.
In Oracle Reports Designer, character mode, the
APPLICATIONS STANDARDS REQUIRE the report to be designed in
ONE FONT/ ONE CHARACTER SIZE. Character mode reports
generate ASCII output. In ASCII you cannot dynamically
change the font and character size. The standard is in
effect so a report prints as identically as possible from
    both conventional and postscript printers.
