K8T Neo: Problem at power-on...

Hello!
Somehow I experience a strange startup-problem ... and I could really need some advice to resolve this issue as I'm out of ideas.
Last weekend I completely disassembled my rig for the annual "spring-time maintenance". I cleaned out dust, I cleaned the inside and outside of the case and I replaced my DVD-ROM and CD-RW drive with a LG DVD+/-R(W)/RAM drive. After everything was put together again I powered up my system - and it started to act strange.
Symptom: At power-on the system hangs at "Early Chipset Init" (D-Bracket 1-4: GRRR) and keeps on self-resetting. Several seconds (10-30) later the system starts to POST as expected and runs smoothly until ... power down.
During the night the system is completely disconnected from the power as it drains a lot of juice in stand-by (~12W for the rig + ~18W for several other external components like scanner, audio, ...).
What I've done so far to track down the error:
- Reseated power connectors. Nope - problem persists.
- Pulled all unnecessary components (just MoBo, CPU, RAM, GFX-card, Keyb). Nope - same prob.
- Pulled all memory sticks, left only one in the slot (and tried every other one). Nope - same prob.
- Cleared CMOS - Nope - same prob.
- Ran memtest86+. Showed no errors after 10+ passes.
Now I'm out of ideas ... except for the power-on problem the system runs just fine as before. No crashes, no malfunctions, no nothing.
Technical Data:
MSI K8T Neo FSR (BIOS 2.0)
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Clawhammer Core)
Zalman CNPS7000B CPU-Cooler
3x 512MB Kingston CL2.5 PC400 DDR-RAM (@DDR333 - 3 sticks = DDR333 only!)
NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT AGP (Power Connector is plugged in)
Highpoint HPT370A IDE Controller (PCI 3)
Hauppauge WinTV PCI FM (PCI 5)
Seagate 80GB SATA - Operating system
Hitachi 160GB - OnBoard Pri IDE, Master
LG 4167B - OnBoard Pri IDE, Slave
Maxtor 200GB - HPT370A Pri IDE, Master
Seagate 400GB - HPT370A Pri IDE, Slave
Maxtor 80GB - HPT370A, Sec IDE, Master
Tagan TG480-U01 480W PSU (3.3V@28A, 5V@48A, 12V@28A)
As I have a Wattmeter at my avail: After power-on and boot-up the system "sucks" ~315W (rig + monitor). If I put load on the system (CPU at full clock, GeForce displaying 3D) it drains ~390W.
As mentioned above I never had any issues with the system.
Does anyone have a suggestion how to resolve the rather annoying power-on problem ?!?
Thanks,
Jochen

Did you checl and replace the CMos Battery? You may need to do a complete Bios Clear and start fresh there as well.
Also as the Optical drives changed did you try removing them one at a time and see if the system acts noirmally then?
Hello, Tiresmoke!
. I unplugged the PSU from the wall socket and removed the battery while clearing the CMOS. The CMOS Battery is OK - ~3.34V (reading from a Voltmeter - matches with the display at PC Health Status).
. I already took out the LG DVD-RAM drive and put the old optical drives back in. Even in its old "original" configuration the aforementioned problem persists.
. I already reseated the CPU and renewed the thermal compound.
However, I even get the "Early chipset" startup when the system is bareboned ... CPU + 1 memstick (doesn't matter which one out of the three I plug in) + Keyb + GFX. D-Bracket shows "Early Chipset Init", the boards goes through several reset-loops and fires up fine.
BTW: Maybe this will give some clue ...
. When I do a warm reset (reboot triggered by OS) the board restarts fine - Reset, POST, Boot.
. When I shutdown and disconnect power from the PSU, lets say for about 5 minutes, then reconnect it and power-on the "Early chipset init" shows up.
Are there any chances that the PSU is actually causing the problem although this particular problem never showed up before the "spring-cleaning"?
Thanks,
Jochen

    Hi
    welcome
The power led flashing is the power protection system, to reset take power cable out for 5 secs, then replace and re start. If it continues to do this, there is someting shorting, or not connected. The 4 pin square CPU power supply is connected to mobo.?  Are all the stand off posts on the mobo lined up with the shielded holes in mobo - no extra ones fitted.
Other things it could be are PSU, the board needs over 18amps on the +12v line to boot, what are the amps on the 3.3v, the +5v, and the +12v lines, get them from label on side of PSU.
Could be several other things, like Heatsink not sitting on CPU properly, or a bent pin, loose wire or screw on mobo, etc.
    cheers

  • K8T Neo FSR Unusual Power Supply Problem

Hi folks! I've been using my Neo mobo for a couple years now. Recently I noticed the 3.3V line was dropping. It steadily over a week's time went from 3.3 to 2.6. At 2.6 I was getting constant artifacts and instability. Thinking of course that it was the power supply's fault, I replaced it. This one lasted two months, but just like the other, started off fine, then 3.3 slowly dropped to 2.6.
Is there anyway this can be something other than the power supply? I'm utterly confused; two power supplys shouldn't die slowy on the exact same line.
    Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx!
    Edit:
Realized y'all need more info :P
    athlon 64 3000+

    2nd PSU: Generic 500W, 28A on 12v and 26A on 3.3v
Edit 2: Just a note, ALL other voltages were stable. It was ONLY the 3.3v line that droped.

The onlything that could cause that is bad-connection between the connectors....ergo like not pushed in far enough....
(could be because of fluids too, but I find that rather unlikely)
Both those cases seem unlikely...I know for a fact there were no fluids, and I'm 99.9% sure the cable was inserted properly. Doesn't it mean something that it was ONLY the 3.3v cables that were burned?
BTW, what makes you think it's the video card? Since it's getting power from a molex that only has 5v and 12v lines, why would it need 3.3?

  • MSI K8T-Neo problem: Extended Powerdown to Post

    Hello All,
I just upgraded my computer with a new K8T-NEO motherboard and AMD 64 3200+ processor.  The other parts from my old system were transferred over.  Here's the problem:
    - If I reboot from Windows it doesn't post--no video signal even.  The fans are going but the drives never spin up.
    - If I turn off the computer completely, then power it on again, no post or drives spinning
    - If I turn the computer off completely, AND LEAVE IT OFF for at least two minutes, the computer posts and boots fine.
Once I'm in Windows the machine seems to run rock solid.
    Here are my other components:
    ATI Radeon 9600 PRO AGP
    2X256MB PC2100DDR ram (Samsung)
    SB Live 5.1
Antec Truepower 350W PSU (bought less than 3 months ago and worked fine in my Athlon 1500)
I have no other add-in boards, and to troubleshoot the problem I removed my SB live, and swapped by ATI for an older Nvidia card I had lying around-- no difference.
My guess is either some sort of capacitor problem on the motherboard, or something wrong with the PSU.  However, since it's a good name brand and worked fine in my old PC, I'm skeptical of this.
Before I RMA this board, anybody have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Thanks again,

While you are at it, check your power management settings in BIOS.
I have a *similar* issue.  Except that if I use the "reboot now" command or "shutdown -r now" under linux, it shuts down, powers up but wont post; these commands attempt to use ACPI functions to soft reboot.  However, if I have a hard shutdown "shutdown -h" or a power off, it posts fine.  Jumpering the reset switch briefly also works; so *hard* resets are ok, soft resets not.
I suspect it is possible the bios is not managing certain acpi functions relating to soft shutdowns and restarts well.
    err!

    hello
i have a MS-6702 (K8T Neo-FIS2R) motherboard and after flashing my bios it shows my ddr400 ram as ddr 333
    here is my system config:

also please could you tell me if i could use the ddr 533 sticks with my config....
    thank you

    thanks...
but i think its because the ddrs were made by  2 diff manuf. and the new bios reports the cas lwrong for both both are actually 2.5 but it shows 2.5 for one and 3 for the other....dont know why thuis happened...and cpu-z shows one clocked at 166.7 and the other at 200......
also the ddr 533s would not be able to give their full potential in my config?...

  • K8T Neo Series - no power

PLEASE HELP if anyone has had a problem like this.
My computer is fitted with the above mainboard and has been working fine for 15 months.  Yesterday it had been on for about 2 hours and was in screensaver mode with no programs running.  I moved the mouse and saw the desktop for a few seconds and the screen went black with no power from the PC.
I tried to restart but the system was completely dead.  Do these symptons suggest a mainboard problem?  Can anybody in the forum advise on how I can diagnose the problem and pinpoint the defective hardware?
Any advice or tips greatly appreciated.
    TerryC

Yes, like TS said...try a working power supply and see if you system starts. Or you can bring your pwr supply to a place that fixes computers, they usually will test it for you for nothing. Or you can buy a tester.  Definitly don't test the power supply by putting it into another machine, cuz if it is bad it could mess up the other machine. If the machine doesnt work with a new power supply, mostly likely the mainboard could have been fried due to the blown pwr supply. Dont buy a cheap power supply next time; brands to go with are Sparkle, Antec, enermax, Fortron, zalman...

  • MSI K8t NEO + Audigy Boot Problem only when power is unplugged on the PSU

I ran into a really weird problem today.
I switched the ps off by reaching back and pressing the button. I repress the button to power on the ps, then I click on the button in the fron of the case to power up the machine. System keeps rebooting itself every 1 sec. Bracket shows 4 red lights. In the manual, it says it means bad cpu. I remove the audigy and it boots fine. I install the audigy, 4 red lights.
So, This time instead of turning the puter off by using the button on ps. I used the button on the case by holding it down for 5 seconds. I reboot and puter boots normally.
So the problem is, if i turn the puter off by using the button on the PS and with audigy in the syste. Nothing on screen, and puter keeps rebooting itself every one second. Solution is to turn the puter off by using the button on the case.
Has anyone ran into this problem? I have never had this kind of problem. It is really weird. Any feedback is apreciated.
Oh and it is only with audigy. I tested this with original live, and also other PCI cards like nic, and another cheap sound card. Non of these cards showed this problem.

    Cavemankr!
I never knew you could shut down the computer by holding down the start button for 5 seconds.... well I've never really had the need to...until I got this K8T Neo job. I wondered why it wouldn't turn off when I just pushed it. I've been using the PSU switch with these problems.
Yep! She booted right up. Audigy back in action. I also realized I had my PC hooked straight in the wall (while checking to see if my surge protector was working this weekend), so turning off the surge protector wasn't cutting power to the cheapo PSU.
So put me in your camp!
I'll just plug the PC straight into the UPS and keep power fed to the Enermax. I hope that was the cause of my keyboard/mouse cold boot problem also.
I'll assume the cheapo PSU will behave similarly. I don't really want to go through the swap again.
    I wonder why that happens!

  • HEAVY Problems with Linux x86_64 on K8T Neo

    Hello, Community!
I experience *HEAVY* Problems with Linux on my MSI K8T Neo (FSR). Since the customer support of the german dependancy seems to ignore my call for help I'm in good hope that maybe you can help me out or give me some useful advise.
First some Hardware Specs of my system:
MSI K8T Neo FSR, Rev 1.1, BIOS 1.5
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+
    3x 512MB Kingston DDR400
    Enermax EG365P-VE (350W) PSU (3.3V/5V 185W Combinded)
    MSI GeForce FX5200 TDR 128
Adaptec ATA RAID AAR1200A (HPT370A) in PCI Slot 3
Hauppauge WinTV PCI in PCI Slot 5
Maxtor 4K040H2 (40GB) as Primary Master
JLMS XJ-HD166S DVD-ROM as Primary Slave
LiteOn LDW-411S DVD+/-RW as Secondary Master
LiteOn LTR-52327S CD-RW as Secondary Slave
    2x Maxtor 6Y060L0 (60GB) on HPT370A as Primary Master/Slave
Seagate ST380020A (80GB) on HPT370A as Secondary Master
Maxtor 32049U3 on HPT370A as Secondary Slave
    KeyTronic KT2001 USB Keyboard
Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse Blue USB
I've downloaded Fedora Core 1 x86_64 as well as the lately released Fedora Core 2 test 3 x86_64 distribution. Both CD sets have been burnt ok.
If I try to install Core 1 x86_64 (Kernel 2.4.22-1.2179) the kernel crashes with a "attempted to kill idle task" panic. As far as I've learned the workaround is to give idle=poll as kernel parameter. This resolves the kernel panic, but the installer randomly crashes with segfaults at a random stage; sometimes while loading anaconda, sometimes during package install.
If I try to install Core2 test 3 x86_64 (Kernel 2.6.5) I get a, completely new, error message while the kernel does the PCI Scan:
******* Your BIOS seems to not contain a fix for K8 errata #93
******* Working around it, but it may cause SEGVs or burn power
******* Please consider a BIOS update
******* Disabling USB legacy in the BIOS may also help
I removed my USB keyboard, connected a PS/2 keyboard, disabled to USB Legacy option (I need it enabled in order to use Ghost) in the BIOS and booted again.
The error message is gone now, but as in Core 1 the installer still crashes randomly with segfaults. I'm still unable to go all the way through the installation routine.
I even tried to install Fedora Core 1 "i386": again there are segfaults during install.
Contrary to the problems I experience while trying to install Linux my Windows XP (32-Bit), as well as a test installation of Windows XP 64-Bit, run like a charm without any problems. Strange but true.
Since I already read trough several posts in this forum I already tried running my system with memory sticks from another manufacturers as well as with a more powerful PSU. I even removed my tv-card and raid-controller.
Nogo - Linux still crashes randomly and Windows still works without any flaws.
Has anyone a clue what I can/must do to successfully install Linux?
Might it be that the BIOS has some flaws that might cause the problems?
Has anyone managed to install Linux (what distribution) on this Mainboard?
I would greatly appreciate any help. If you need to know something I haven't provided here please feel free to ask. I'll answer ASAP.
    Thank you in advance.
P.S.: The system is *NOT* overclocked in any way.

And now even the last problem is solved ...
Since I was successful in installing a basic Gentoo system but still failed to install Fedora I reflashed BIOS 1.5. This time I cleared the CMOS by unplugging the PSU, setting the jumper and removing the backup battery.
Yesterday I only flashed it with the /a switch, which should have cleared the CMOS as well - so far for the theory. However, it once went fine as I upgraded from BIOS 1.1 to 1.4.
After setting up the BIOS options again I gave it another try and booted from Fedora (Core 2 test 3) install CD: No more complains about the CPU errata, although USB legacy is enabled, and I even went through the installation without any problems.
It seems as I will stick with Gentoo as my primary distribution since the kernel makes a more "mature" impression than the one from Fedora (i.e. the K8 PowerNOW! Driver seems to be missing in Fedora's Kernel 2.6.5).
By using an spare Athlon XP Mainboard I worked out that only one of my three Kingston memory sticks had errors - I'm going to replace the faulty stick tomorrow.
    Now for the conclusio:
Thanks, especially you JLP, for helping me with my issue. Without the advise to use Gentoo, and the included MemTest86, I wouldn't have been able to track down the error to a faulty memory stick that fast since Windows always ran fine.

  • K8T Neo FSR with Audigy 1 Problem

I just received a major upgrade, for me anyway, last night. ALL I was getting on boot was 4-RED LED lights on the D-Bracket2 connector. I was ready to RMA the WHOLE thing to Tiger Direct, when I decided in one last ditch effort to try again.....I pulled my Audigy, and wham, it booted normally. Now let me describe.
    1. I KNOW it's not a power issue, as I had EVERYTHING but Sound and Video removed, and unplugged, including hard drives. The D-Bracket2 LED's were still all-red on boot.....system would not POST.
    2. Pulled ALL hrdware from system, except Video and Audigy, same results.
    3. Last try, pulled EVERYTHING, including Audigy, and it booted normally.
    4. Re-connected everything, except Audigy, re-installed Windows XP SP2, no problems, system runs.
I tried EVERY PCI slot with the Audigy, ALL with the same results; system would not run with it in there. The card was good 15 minutes prior on the OLD Abit Board. (meaning it works.)
    ANy ideas???
    System Specs:
    K8T Neo FSR MB

The above might be only 420W but it has 18 amps under 12+, which is fine for your setup.

  • Msi k8t neo fis2r problems part 3

sometimes when the computer is turned on it just turns the fans and leds on but doesnt boot up...
most of the time it loads up and i boot to the windows xp cd and i install the drivers for sata and then when it reaches the point of copying the files it will give me a bsod and say that there is a problem with the irql driver and then force me to shut the pc down..
sometimes it makes it past that and will begin to copy files onto the hard drive, like somehow the data is becoming corrupted..however it will start to say that the files cant copy randomly and it will allow me to retry..they will copy the 2nd time usually..i can keep hitting retry and it will usually go by..it gets to 30 something % and then crashes to bsod just giving me some random error..for some reason the files keep screwing up that go on the sata drive....I just replaced the old power supply that wasnt working with an antec true watt 430 watt power supply, so i know it isnt that..
i just cant figure out what the heck is going on..any help would be appreciated.my specs are
    "IRQ NOT EQUAL OR LESS"
    athlon 64 3000+ cpu
    msi k8t neo fis2r motherboard
    mushkin special cas 2.0 2-2-2-5 512 mb pc 3200
western digital 8mb cache 80 gb sata hard drive
sapphire radeon 9800 pro 128 mb 8x agp

fyi look an your cd sticker ity will show power, consumption, but they are way lower than you would think, hard drives, can be only 10 watts, less then some case lights , and fans, cd are  similar.. your video, is the biggy somewhere between 90~150 watts..yikes .next to the cpu..and the mobo can use 50 or so (not sure about new mobos)  not to mention the ram 1024 is @40 watts or so., dont forget about 25watts per pci card, not counting the sound card which can be double....
ergo the need for a big psu..
the combined total ratting on a psu is not the max number that the psu is rated, that is surge value.. so a 500 may only hold 400 sustained , and that will drop as the machine heats up, so in the end your 500 may onlyy pull 366 @50'c...

  • K8T Neo-FIS2R problems

I see a lot of post for all kinds of different problems with this motherboard. I just ordered one Newegg (before I discovered this forum). Did I make a mistake?

    cnkirby,
You made a good choice. I just received my K8T-Neo and Athlon 64 3000+ from Newegg last week. I took the dangerous route by replacing an existing MSI KT3 Ultra ARU board and maintaining my same WinXP system and hardware setup.
I should have disabled/removed my McAfee security programs before the switch, then things would have gone off without a hitch. I had big Windows XP problems until I did so. Once McAfee was gone (not and easy task after the switch) , The K8T-Neo rocked!
If you are doing a clean install of an OS, it should be a cinch.
I played it safe and bought memory from the K8T Neo's recommended list (Kingmax).
Regarding the power supply, I bought an Aspire X-Dreamer II case with the mobo and am using the supplied power supply which is only 350 watts. That's with 4 HDs! I've been running it pretty solid since Saturday with no ill effects. I'll be adding a Radeon 9800PRO this week, so that may have an effect on the power situation.

  • K8T800 K8T NEO-FSR Memory Problems

Just a warning before I start in, this is a pretty long post. I'm going to try to include all the information I can.
Here's my system right now. It's running Windows XP Professional with all the latest updates.
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3000, 512KB L2 Cache 64-bit Processor. Not overclocked at all.
Motherboard: MSI K8T800 K8T NEO-FSR, latest BIOS updates from MSI
Video Card: ATI RADEON 9800PRO Video Card, 128MB DDR, latest Catalyst drivers from ATI installed. Not overclocked at all.
Memory: Mushkin 184 Pin 2x512MB DDR400 PC-3200, running at DDR400 with Auto selected for all the memory timings in the BIOS. Memory placed in DIMM#1 and DIMM#2. Not overclocked at all.
Hard Drive: Western Digital 80 Gig
I started experiencing random reboots and critical errors in game applications on Sunday. The computer would randomly reboot at random intervals from Windows. In addition, while running games like Warcraft 3, Asheron's Call, or World of Warcraft I would receive frequent critical errors that certain sections of the memory could not either be read or written to.
I figured that there was some kind of problem with the memory, so I downloaded Memtest86 and ran it. The first stick of RAM was in DIMM#1 and the second stick in DIMM#2. This was the memory configuration during all the random reboots and critical errors.
Memtest86 came up with several failures during the 5th phase of the test. The same failures came up upon repeated testing in the same phase of the test. I decided to try to isolate the failure and see if one stick or the other was defective. I yanked out the second stick from DIMM#2 and left the first stick in DIMM#1. The first stick (which I'll refer to as the "good RAM stick") passed the memtest repeatedly. I then stuck the second RAM stick into DIMM#1 alone and the computer would not even POST.
I then moved the second RAM stick (which I'll refer to as the "bad RAM stick") over to DIMM#2 alone and managed to get it to POST. The bad stick failed the memtest with the exact same errors during the same phase of testing as the combined sticks had failed during the initial test. For the sake of completeness, I moved the bad stick over to DIMM#1 alone and finally managed to get it to POST. However, the bad stick passed the memtest repeatedly. Puzzled, I moved the bad stick over to DIMM#3 alone and tested it there, which it also passed repeatedly. I moved it back into DIMM#2 alone and it failed the test repeatedly again and again.
Intrigued, I then moved the good RAM stick into DIMM#2 alone, to try to see if perhaps there was some kind of motherboard error occurring. The good stick passed the memtest repeatedly in DIMM#2. I then moved the good stick into DIMM#3 alone and it passed the test repeatedly in that slot.
After checking the motherboard manual to make sure I could do it, I put the bad stick in DIMM#1 and the good stick in DIMM#3 and ran the memtest. The combined sticks passed the test where previously, while configured in DIMM#1 and DIMM#2, they had failed it. I moved the sticks back into DIMM#1 and DIMM#2 to test again. The combined sticks failed as they had during the initial test.
I then reconfigured the sticks to DIMM#1 and DIMM#3 again and booted up the system. Although I only had limited testing time last night, I seemed to be totally stable. The system did not reboot at all and I actually managed to play WoW for an hour without a single crash.
Any suggestions on what's occuring? I figured that maybe the mobo's memory seating in DIMM#2 was messed up, but I wanted to get some more guidance from others.

Well if it's an Antec Sl-350, that one only has 16A @ 12V, way too little to handle your system.....
I would get another PSU in any case, as even the TP-380 is bare minimum.....
Go for the Enermax 465 it has 33A @ 12V and then you are sure it's not a power problem...
Also, a good PSU is never a waiste of money

  • MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R won't power-up

My MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R won't power up when I switch it on. All that happens is the fans "jolt" a few millimeters and that's it
Using an X-Pro 460w which does work as I have tested it on this PC
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think I have found out the problem
Using my old Enermax (350) I was able to boot up the AMD 64 2800 every time but the PSU made this weird electrical sound - I think because it was being overloaded (I think as it doesn't make this sound when used with my XP 1800). I then reverted back to my new X-Pro (460w) and after a few attempts I managed to get the ram module and CPU powered... slowly adding more fans it became harder to boot and eventually the GPU fan wouldn't run once I plugged another fan in... I'm guessing this is because my PSU is too weak to power the juice guzzling AMD
I'll need to break the bank once again I suppose

  • Early Chipset Initialization problem with K8T Neo 2 - FIS2R

    This one has me stumped.
I went to install a new CPU fan earlier today and while I was installing the fan I had to remove my sound card and AGP card so I could screw the fan to the side of the heat sink.
I got all that done and went to start the computer back up and now I get a contineous high pitched sound while at the same time 3 beeps. The D bracket shows a green LED on 1 so this is the "early chipset initialization" problem.
What is causing this and why would this happen after a fan installation?
    Specs
    A64 3200+ Winchester
    1.5 GB RAM (2x 512, 2x 256) DDR 400
    MSI K8T Neo 2 - FIS2R
    PNY GF 6800
    Audigy 2 ZS Gamer
    200GB IDE HDD
    80 GB IDE HDD
    DVD - R/RW
    Win XP Pro w/ SP2

Okay after a bit of messing around with the problem I discovered what the problem was....
I didn't plug in the power to the video card
Yeah the 6800 uses needs more power from the PSU and I left that little rail unplugged. Maybe some other soul will find this useful in a time of need.

Do a floppy drive flash with the correct switches.  Go back to the last bios that worked properly or try Pinochio's bios which a lot of people like.  Liveupdate will mess up your bios.  So can winflash if you do not use it correctly.

After you have read about it, do this using the correct flash utilty file name and the correct  bios file name
"DOS floppy flash shall be performed with :
    awfl833d.exe w7030nms.180 /py /sn /wb /cc /cd /cp /f /e
(Replace biosfilename with appropriate version for Neo1/neo2 etc , switches remain the same )
    After flash is complete :
TURN OFF PSU (don't restart) wait 15 seconds
Turn on again , press the power button .
Enter BIOS and load optimized defaults (NO OTHER CHANGES) , save + exit
Boot the system again with the floppy in the drive to let the DMI pool build and update itself .
    Good luck.
