K8T NEO Realtek AMD64 driver

It's unofficial, but with a little bit of fiddling the driver works.
I tried some and as far as I remember install "manually" by using the second inf file in the WinXP folder.
Well I'm on a WinXP64 machine using these drivers to connect to this forum.
Thx to lgoldson!

Realtek onboard AC97 sounddriver request:
Realtek sounded more positive on the onboard soundchip(ALC655) driver. At least they're busy developing it.
And I got the beta AMD64 NIC driver from Realtek. Sso I have more hope in getting the Realtek onboard soundchip AMD64 driver soon, then a driver from Creative for my Live!

  • K8T Neo Windows 64 driver archive?

I am very happy with my new K8T Neo. I made my friend buy one of these motherboards and I will buy another one for myself next week.
It would be really helpful if MSI could maintain a page of Windows 64 drivers for the K8T Neo. I understand that MSI does not write the drivers, but perhaps MSI can at least keep a list of drivers as MSI finds out that such drivers exist?
I did find the nVidia Win64 drivers for my video card, but I don't know if there are others. (Win64 does not seem to have drivers for the built-in NIC, for example).
    Thanks in advance,

  • K8T Neo-FIS2R Hard drive configuration questions

Im looking to buy this board in maybe a month or less (K8T Neo-FIS2R), and was wondering about configuring hard drives
I will get the version which has the promise controller on board, fo SATA RAID
The Plan is to get two Wetern Digital Raptor drives and put them in RAID 0 together.
however i will still have my DVD Writer, removeable hard drive bay (takes one IDE) and  my current 80GB Seagate drive.
if i use the SATA RAID, do i have to use IDE3 for all the other devices, or can i just plug them into the IDE1 and IDE2 slots?
Also you are able to select SATA to boot from in bios correct? i have never done raid so have no idea how it works . and do you have to load RAID drivers or something before setting up windows?

    anyone?

  • K8t neo fis2r - core center not functional after installing sound card

Hi.  I had been using Core Center with Dynamic Overclocking enabled and all was well.  When idle, my amd64 3000+ (2.0ghz), was running at 800mhz.  Under load it would go up to 2100mhz.  But yesterday, I installed an Auzentech x-plosion sound card and after i installed the driver, the dynamic overclocking stopped working, my cpu is running at max all the time.  (The variable fan speed function still works).
I checked the IRQ and there is no conflict, I uninstalled the amd64 driver and core center and reinstalled.  Still does not work.  I uninstalled the auzentech driver, rebooted, and cancelled new hardware wizard.  Then the variable cpu frequency feature worked.  Once I install the driver for the auzentech, dynamic oc stops working.  I was thinking to try another pci slot but it appears to be a software issue rather than a hardware issue.  The new version of Core Center does not work with my board even though msi says it's compatible so I'm still using the one that always worked.  The amd driver is the latest and also always worked.
Has anyone else had a similar problem, perhaps using the auzentech sound card with this board and Core Center?  Or does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Hey guys, I just went to AMDs site to get the dashboard utility mentioned and in the readme, it stated that in XP, the power option needs to be set to portable/laptop.  But in the past, I read that it needed to be set to "always on" and that it is, in fact, what I had it set to before when cool n quiet was working.  Now I change it to "portable/laptop" and it works and set to "always on" doesn't work anymore.  So now Core Center reports I'm at 33c @800mhz at no load.   I don't get it???  I'll have to try an alternate utility just to verify that is indeed working.
btw, QV, I checked system properties, (right-click my computer > properties, or "system" in control panel) and on the "general" tab, it indicates an AMD64 3000+, 2.0GHz.  But I'm pretty certain the clock frequency is dropping now as reported by core center because of the decrease in the cpu temp at idle.  Am I looking in the right place in XP?  I have XP pro, SP2
Again, thanks for the input and Happy New Year

  • K8t-neo-fsr no initial boot

Just picked up all the parts today..msi k8t neo-fsr, amd64 3200cpu 450w power supply. 120gig sata drive, dvd burner.. turned it on and nothing. d-bracket shows up as 4 red led's. and the front power led just flashes..
please help.. I need to get this working this weekend...
    Thanks,
    Mike

well hang on there, 4 lights is proccessor error.
now carefully look at mobo 1st is heat sink doen all the way, you did take plastic off of heatsink, when you put the processor on the board you ligned up the triangles lifted release bar and processor slid right in all nice and easy...then locked bar down, and carfully placed heatsink on and locked it.
now the bad news if you have to take off the heat sink do it slowly,as usually it will rip the processor out ,sometimes damaging pins, and you will have to use artic silver or a new heat sink with a pad, you canot use old pads or goo..it has to be cleaned off. ther is a good article on that one.
    @psu
i would say psu is limited on upgrades..at 18a but if you want to return your new one just say you got it for an hp, act kind of sumb ,and say that it takes a whole different plug and everything,  that usually works...
btw what kind of memory do you have ..non ecc i hope.

  • [Athlon64] CAN'T SEE SINGLE SATA DRIVE / K8T NEO no Promise controller

I have a K8t NEO -the cheapskate version with no PROMISE SATA controller or on-board Firewire
I have been running on XP SP2 on 2 IDE drives, everything is ok.  I added a SINGLE SATA drive and turned the VIA SATA controller on in BIOS. I did the MSI Live Update and have the latest VIA SATA driver, latest chipset, latest BIOS, latest EVERYTHING. At boot, the VIA SATA controller reports my Hitachi SATA as Channel 0  Primary"  in the SATA devices table.  Going into the SATA RAID menu it tells me "You can't make RAID with just one drive"  which is true, of course.  But the point is the controller SEES the drive.
I've run MSI Live Update and have the latest BIOS, latest SATA XP driver, latest EVERYTHING.
Windows XP doesn't see the SATA drive.
In XP  I see a VIA RAID CONTROLLER in Hardware / Device Manager  which is DISABLED.   When I right-click then click ENABLE on the VIA RAID CONTROLLER  the machine reboots immediately.  I tried safe mode, same thing.  I tried BIOS settings of "No PNP O/S Installed"  and "Yes PNP O/S Installed"  and reset the NVRAM.  No change.
I think there must be an IRQ conflict....  I have a sound card (on-board sound is turned OFF in BIOS) and AGP video card, and that's it- no WiFi NIC or anything else to eat up IRQ resources. I use the Realtek on-board ethernet.
I tried my Windows 98 partition and that booted, detected the new hardware (VIA SATA) and I installed the driver from the MSI CD  and Win 98 is happy with the SATA drive..... it sees the drive just fine.
How do I make Windows XP see the SATA drive?

Have you tried starting XP with CD and entering recovery, log on as admin and see if SATA drive is there? Remember to "F6" with a floppy drive of SATA drivers for
-XP-... I'm assuming you already have as you said all is uptodate.  When the boot BIOS for the VIA SATA apprears and you press "TAB" I believe it is, you can mess with the SATA functions. Sorry if does not apply to your compy or you've already done all this.... BTW you CAN run a RAID array with one HDD, at least thats what I did on my Promise controller.
In my Device Manager under Disk drives it looks like this (notes bracketed are noting position):
Promise 1+0 Stripe/RAID0 SCSI Disk Device (Bus Number 0, Target ID 1, LUN 0 (G:\ 1-160GB IDE Seagate/notice ONE drive)
    Promise 2+0 Stripe/RAID0 SCSI Disk Device (Bus Number 0, Target ID 0, LUN 0) (F:\ 2x200 SATA)
    ST3160023A (Location 1 (1) VIA IDE D:\)
VIA SATA RAID 0 SCSI Disk Device (Bus Number 0, Target ID 0, LUN 0) (E:\ 2x120 SATA)
    WDC WD800JB-00CRA1 (Location 0 (0) VIA IDE C:\)
Under the boards BIOS, is the SATA drive listed under the BOOT table??? In my system it lists the above 5 partitions (7 HDD's total), floppy, 2 CD/DVD drives, etc...
Oh also in Device Manager IS the VIA SATA controller appearing in the "SCSI and RAID controllers" tab??? I have set mine to just SATA before and of course now it says "VIA SATA RAID Controller"... for you it should read "VIA SATA Controller". Remember there are 2 different drivers for the SATA controller, one for SATA and one for SATA RAID. Look on your floppy disk or if you saved out the updated driver. I made a new floppy with the latest XP drivers. When booting from WINXP CD, and promted for "F6" and press it, later it will show you TWO different drivers after reading the floppy disk for XP. You obviously want the non RAID driver... hope that helps somewhat... g'luck

Later BIOS releases carry-over all the changes of previous releases.  You don't need to go backwards to get the earlier change.
Which BIOS version did you have before and are using now?  I'm having trouble determining which board you have from "K8T Neo (MS-6702 v1.0)".  Is this your motherboard?

I might be able to update the VIA SATA ROM in your BIOS to the latest version (v4.97) but I need to know for certain which board and BIOS.

A PSU is rated to run at +/-5% and that is well within it's rating. As for wether ists big enough there is no way we can say as you still did not give full system specs.
If it won't run with the third stick of RAM then pull it out for the moment and see if the system will boot again. If it does then during post you will see a Bios version listed. That board only supports Bios versions to 2.2 at the moment so please also list what actuall Bios version you have.
Ok, have booted with one instead of two sticks (one works, two don't, do not have three sticks)..

  • K8T NEO (MS-6702 VT8237) can't find SATA drive

I just got a Seagate 160gb SATA drive (retail).  In the bios settings sata is enabled (default), Serial Port 1 is on Auto (default) but I don't know where to look in the BIOS to see that the drive is recognized.  I felt the drive and it's warm so I know it's getting power.  Brand new SATA cable from the Seagate box.  I'm using the drive as the primary drive to install OS.  I downloaded "VIA VT8237(R) SATA RAID Driver (For floppy driver)". Put on floppy, restarted with my bootable XP disc, hit F6 when XP was starting setup.  It recognized the driver install (gave me driver choice of XP, 2000 and NT).  Picked XP and then it continues loading.  Finally says "no hard drive found" (or something like that).  I even tried keeping my IDE as primary so I could add it as a secondary drive in windows. Installed all the latest 4 in1 drivers, raid setup and everything and won't recognize.  This is my first SATA install so I guess I'm missing something.  I guess I shoulda got the EIDE to make it ez :(  Please help!

    Hi!
Have a look at the connector you used. If you have the full K8T Neo, you have two SATA controllers. One VIA and one Promise. You then have 4 SATA ports on the board. you need to use the ones closest to your RAM, so, the upper ones.
Did you buy a SATA or SATA-II disk? In case it's SATA-II, check the SATA/SATA-II jumper on the drive and set it to SATA-I. Your board does NOT support SATA-II.
when you checked this, please verify in BIOS that you actually did enable the VIA V8237 SATA controller. When you did, boot further untill the POST screen disappears. Now, you see a VIA SATA BIOS screen. It should list your Seagate now.

I have tried using Maxblaster.iso and Maxblaster3.exe, ive tried a pure XP install and ive tried an install from inside a Maxtor 80GB ATA133, the ammount of times ive hit F6 is beyond a joke, im sick of shoving floppy discs in and out of this damn PC, i get the drivers installed, the BIOS sees the drive but i cannot boot from it and i cannot access it from windows.

Singlemalt, I took it you were Scotch, at least by extraction. Now you comps talking Dutch.  What Distillery is it from, can I have some? :hypecrite:
After you press F6, and it takes a couple of mins to get to the S screen, you put floppy marked Via in drive, and load both XP drivers, 1 then return to S screen, then the other. It needs both. Then it proceeds as normal.  If this does not happen, then are you using floppy for drivers, not a CD?  Or if the floppy drivers are corrupted, you can get a new copy from here.
    http://www.m-m.me.uk/Macs/index_files/Page561.htm
One other option is to fit an IDE drive, it will make it the C: drive, but will install to SATA. At least then you will see if all is well with hardware, or if the software is flakey. After you have it sorted, you can remove the IDE and reinstall to SATA, which will then become the C:. disk.
    Cheers

  • K8T Neo crashes pc with 3d card's driver

I recently bought a pc containing a K8T Neo motherboard with an Athlon 64 3200+ cpu and 2x512mb 3200 DDR400 Ram.  It came with a standard VGA driver installed, so I went into safe mode (it has Win98 SE installed), removed the standard driver, restarted and installed the driver for my Geforce4 Ti4200.  But when I restarted my pc again, I got all sorts of problems : windows protection errors, blue screens, the pc just freezing (sometimes with all sorts of colours on the screen) or messages that there isn't enough memory available to run Windows .
I tried using both the AOpen driver and the Nvidia Detonator one (45.23), but both had the same result.  I also tried this with a Geforce2 MX card, but with no change either.  I also removed my soundcard and am using the onboard sound and networking.  I installed the latest Via 4-in-1 drivers and all Win98 SE updates I could find.
I already formatted my hard drive twice and everything installs perfectly until I try using the card's driver.
It's possible to install a Super VGA card and Super VGA 1024x768 monitor driver, but whenever I try to switch to more than 16 colors and restart, I get a message that the adapter type is incorrect or the settings don't work with my hardware, and it gets set back to 16x640x480.
Is there a BIOS setting I should change?  Or maybe there is a problem with a Via chipset combined with Nvidia cards?
And why does the system find a "PCI VGA compatible adapter" when I have an AGP card installed?
That's the third day now that I'm doing nothing but restarting and seeing error messages.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    (sorry for the long post)

I installed the 4-in-1 drivers, then my card's drivers, after which ... my whole C: drive became corrupt and I had to format and re-install Win98SE.
During this install I got a BSOD but Windows seemed to install correctly anyway.
I did the above step again (installing the Aopen Ti4200 drivers and software) and got a black screen after restarting and 2 cursors, blinking randomly.
Do you want me to tell you voltage values from my BIOS?
And if so, where can I find these?
I got a 350W power supply which came with my Aopen A600A case btw.
Are you suggesting my card/pc isn't receiving enough power to work at full blast?
I indeed get most of the problems resulting from too little voltages as mentioned in the link you gave me.
And if by a "sirene" they mean a constant beeping sound, then yeah it's most probably a voltage problem.
    [edit]
Here are my 350W power supply voltage settings :
    +3.3v  28A
    +5V  30A
    +12V  16A
    +5Vsb  2A
    -5V  0.3A
    -12V  0.8A
    (+3.3V & +5V = 220W Max)
And in my BIOS they fluctuate as follows :
    Vcore  1.552V
    +5V  5.168V
    +12V  11.923V
    -12V  -12.071V
    -5V  -5.077V
    Battery 3.520V
    +5V SB  4.993V
