K8t Neo2 problem with resume from standby after BIOS flash

Previously while using the 3.2 BIOS and a Winchester 3200+, Both Standby and hibernation worked perfectly almost without fail.  Since I flashed the BIOS to 9.3 and installed an X2 4200+ I have had a problem with resume from standby.  The machine starts up OK but the 2nd processor core (cpu1) is almost maxed out and stays that way.  Task manager shows total cpu load as about 45-50% (all on cpu1) but shows no running process using any cpu load, just the usual System Idle process at about 99%.  The only way to get it back down to normal again seems to be to reboot.  By Contrast Hibernation works fine, with no increase in cpu load after resume.  I have all the latest MS patch's installed (I think!) the AMD dual core driver and the MS and AMD dual core optimizers.  Any ideas what is going on?

Noticed last night that S! standby seems to work OK.  Also was experimenting with a fresh windows install on a spare hard drive (checking on another problem).  The fresh windows install appeared to work with S4 hibernation, so it looks like that is the answer to that problem.  However the problem with high cpu load on the second core after resume from S3 suspend to RAM standby was still present.  This problem is so specific and so repeatable (it does it every time without fail), that I feel there must be some very well defined reason for it.  Unfortunately I have no ideas what could be wrong. Have now tried Windows re-install, latest cpu drivers, AMD dual core optimizer, MS dual core optimizer, Cool'n'quite disabled/enabled, and various others and suspend to RAM still gives the same behaviour

  • Problems with KT3V(MS-6712) after BIOS flashing

I bought KT3V(MS-6712) board with AMD AthlonXP 2000+ CPU. After starting PC for the first time, I found out that the system was not able to detect the CPU. I replaced Athlon 2000+ with old Duron and everything was OK.  I went to the store where I bought new Athlon, they tried it and it worked perfectly with two various boards!! They recommended me to flash a newest BIOS. I did it, but the result is a black screen and three repeating beeps.  What´s wrong? Any idea? Is my board damaged? Thanx, Endy

    really no idea ?

  • Problems with waking from standby (suspend to disk)

    Hello,
    I have a late-2010 MacBook Air 11.6". I am running Lion 10.7.2.
To save battery life and also increase data protection via FileVault 2, I set the hibernatemode to 25 (alwas immediately suspend to disk) and enabled destruction of the FV key on standby (pmset -a hibernatemode 25 DestroyFVKeyOnStandby). Suspending works fine; and when I open the lid to resume from standby, I get the password prompt for FileVault's full disk encryption. After entering the password, the resume process starts. But then in some cases, my display stays black and I cannot turn it on again (tried closing/opening the lid, pressing Ctrl+Shift+Eject, connecting external monitor, ...)
If this behavior occurs, I can find entries like the following in my kernel.log:
    Dec 23 13:30:15 mba kernel[0]: NVDA::setPowerState(0xffffff800c6b3000, 0 -> 2) timed out after 61662 ms
Is that a hardware bug? Any idea how I could possibly work around it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Best Regards

  • MSI K8T Neo2 - Problem with AGP frequency...

    Hi there.
I am a proud(?) owner of the K8T Neo2 motherboard. This is the "pro" version, with the supposedly working AGP lock. But it is not working at ALL.
If I set the AGP frequency to 66, my computer wont boot. With or without overclock, it just wont boot. I have the latest BIOS, the 3.3 version, still - nothing.
I really want to overclock some, but an FSB of ~215 (preferably below if I want it to be stable in windows) is as far as I can go.
Please tell me if there is any way I can fix this. Please tell me that I've missed some important BIOS setting and it will all work out for the best.
My other hardware include a 360W chieftek PSU, a radeon 9800 pro and a winchester 3500+.

Thanks for the reply, I'm glad to hear that it is working for someone atleast, this gives me hope.
I tried following your tips. Loading optimized defaults was easy enough, it is the other things im not so sure about.
You said to "then disable the Onboard components you don't need". My question, are these onboard components found in the bios under "Integrated Peripherals"?
I'm not exactly sure what I can enable and disable, because im not very experienced.
Besides my other hardware as you saw above, I have a "Maxtor 160GB SATA DiamondMax Plus9".
I tried to disable some "PATA" option in the BIOS, but it didnt find my harddrive after that. This is why I'm confused and not sure what to disable (I thought I could disable the PATA since I have SATA, im clueless).
Also, when I boot it says, "No drive attached to fasttrack controller". What this means, I have no idea.
Update: So far in the menu i've disabled the 1394 controller, because I dont use firewire.
I also disabled something that was set to "RAID". I could set it to SATA, but I disabled that aswell. After doing this I still cant set AGP frequency to 66 and boot.
Update2: Now I disabled the serial and parallel ports, but I still cant boot with my AGP frequency at 66.

Yeah, the agp is not working and I've tried just about everything. I've flashed the bios with an update and all that crap. I know the agp bus isn't locked because the system does not boot at any htt above ~220 mhz and if it does boot it is very unstable and crashes. And, when I oc in windows, agp disables itself with high ocs. There was one time when the agp somehow stayed locked and I was able to run solid at 2.5 ghz. I have no idea how it stayed locked and it should be able to stay locked with the 66 MHZ AGP LOCK selected in the bios.
I haven't contacted msi yet because I've had the worst experience with tech support. Seems like they all just got out of kindergarten or something and were programmed to say "destructive reformat" for any question you gave them. "Hi, how do I manually install video drivers?" "INSERT YOUR LEGAL WINDOWS XP DISK AND RUN A DESTRUCTIVE REFORMAT." "Hi, I have conceived a worm thanks to windows awesome seccurity flaws." "DESTRUCTIVE REFORMAT." "My computer locked me out for windows activation and I can't seem to unlock it." "WINDOWS IS FLAWLESS, YOU MUST BE IN POSSESSION OF AN ILLEGAL COPY, GIVE US YOUR NAME AND NUMBER AND GO BUY A NEW COPY."

  • Tecra S2: Problems with Linux Live CDs after BIOS upgrade

    Hi all,
a short while ago I flashed the BIOS of my Tecra S2. My current BIOS version now is 2.80. Unfortunately no I have got problems with booting Linux Live CDs like Knoppix or Kanotix. The boot process freezes, when the PCMCIA module is tried bo be started.
What i want to do now is to downgrade my BIOS version. Does anyone know how that stuff works and does anyone have an old BIOS version from 2005? I couldn`t found older versions on the Toshiba support sites.
    Thanks for all answers!
    biberkopf

Youre right. On the Toshiba page you will find only the newest version of the BIOS and the older versions are not available on the page.
In my opinion if you want to downgrade the BIOS you have to ask the authorized service provider in your country for the help.
But did you check this useful site:
    http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de/main/
There you can check the area machine installation help
It provides some useful tips with the device configuration

  • T400 won't resume from standby after tampering with Intel ME functions

    Hello,
I have a Lenovo T400 with XP SP3. Standby had always been working fine, but yesterday I disabled the Intel ME and AMT functions in the BIOS and also disabled the Intel AMT services in Windows.
When I pressed the power button this morning, I heard the hard disk spinning up, but the standby indicator stayed lit and the display did not activate. I had to force a power off to regain control.
The first suspect is the Active Management Technology, because I haven't installed anything particular that may interfere with power management. At the moment, I haven't had time to try and roll back the changes I've made, but I'm asking if anbody knows about similar issues or has an explanation ready, before I start doing things that may compound the problem.
    Thank you,
    /_urka
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Resetting the security chip, as suggested in another thread by tobes78, fixed the issue.
My T400 has been working correctly for some days now.
Before resetting the security chip, I tried all the following without result, but some updates may be required for the fix to work:
    -updating BIOS
-updating ACPI drivers and PM software
    -disabling Intel ME and AMT
I've left Intel ME/AMT disabled, because I don't really need it and I dare not try enabling it again.
However, it is not sure if the issue was caused by a firmware or a hardware defect and if that may cause other problems in the future.
    Bye,
    /_urka

  • Problem with the "from" field after upgrading to IOS 7

    Dear list members,
For years I have been using multiple e-mail accounts with my iPhone 4 without any trouble. However, after I upgraded to IOS 7, a strange bug is happening.
When I try to send an e-mail from my iPhone, using my iCloud account, to another person or another account of mine, every time I type an address in the "to" field, the "from" field changes automatically to some of my other accounts (most of them from Google). Then I have to correct the "from" field every time, which is very annoying.
Is there a way to solve this bug?
    Thank you for your attention.

I have a similar problem, using iPhone 4 and iPad 3. I can connect to the iPhone hotspot (iPhone show the blueish bar on top of its screen and says 1connection is active). So far so good, BUT, the iPad gets no symbol (the chain showing its linked) nor internet access. Sometimes the symbol comes but still no internet. By resetting the iPhones network settings I get it to work immidiately after, but after putting my iPad to sleep there will be the same issue over again. Please come up with a solution. Maybe I need to restore both devices? I don't like the idea though. It just works, huh?!?!?

  • Satellite A100: USB power error coming from standby after BIOS 5.20 upgrade

    Hi
I am having USB power problems since upgrading my BIOS to 5.2 a few days ago on receipt of an e-mail from Toshiba advising the upgrade
I have a A100-200 PSAA8E running Windows XP Media Edition since upgrading the BIOS to 5.20 I get power fault messages but only when the PC comes out of standby
The error message tells me that " A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port"
I have nothing connected to any of the USB ports
I have spoken to the tech guys at length at Toshiba but they cant seem to explain or fix the problem---one even thought it might be a motherboard problem but I've discounted that as the timing is too coincidental to be anything other than the BIOS upgrade.
If anyone knows of a fix then I would be grateful--is it possible to locate a previous BIOS and roll backwards from 5.20
I am assuming that if its the BIOS then when they issue another one it will correct itself?
    Comments appreciated
    Phil

I have an Equium 100-147 and am also getting 'A USB device has
    > exceeded the power limits of its hub port" message
. It doesn't seem to affect anything. It seems to be just a nuisance value. I have nothing connected to the usb ports when it flashes up and also the message only appears now and then. I also updated the bios. Oh well!

  • Hello,my wife have a problem with her macbook pro, after installing flash player it freezes. Have tried to do a restart, didn't help at all. I hope I can get some tips on this. Thank you. Fred

This is a new problem for me so I hope I can get some answers. Thanks The problem now are not flash player. this Mac freezes and cannot be started again. Every time she tries to login, the screen starts to shiver, like when a wrong password is being used.????

She may have an incompatible version of Flash plyer. Also, there have been some cases of fake copies floating around.
The best thing is to uninstall it and download a new version directly from Adobe.
    Uninstall instructions are here:

  • USB ports don't work after resuming from standby with Windows 8 on X230 tablet

I have just done a clean install of Windows 8 on my X230 tablet.  Before installing Windows 8 I installed the most recent BIOS for this machine (version 2.50).  After installing Windows 8 I installed System Update from the Lenovo Website and downloaded all the recommended drivers and other files.  I've also installed all the latest Windows 8 updates.
Here are the symptoms of my problem: After resuming from standby/sleep mode, my USB ports do not work.  My computer has two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 ports.  All exhibit the same behavior.  After resuming from standby mode I have tried inserting both my mouse and a USB thumbdrive, but neither are recognized.  After restarting Windows, the USB ports work again... until I resume from standby mode again.
I hope there is a solution to this issue.  It is very frustrating.

Thanks for the suggestion about tweaking the "Allow this computer to turn off this device" feature.  I un-checked that box for every entry I could find under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" in the Devide Manager.  Unfortunately, the same symptoms of my problem persisted.
I went back and looked at the README file associated with the BIOS 2.50 download on Lenvo's support site.  At the bottom of the file it gives a "Summary of Changes".  Under version 2.03 of the BIOS (the version just before version 2.50), it says:
    - (Fix) Fixed an issue where USB device might not detected when system resume from sleep mode.
This indicates that Lenovo support was already aware of such issues.  The problem was intended to be fixed in version 2.03 of the BIOS.  However, the issue persists on my machine, even with the latest BIOS.
Hopefully someone from Lenovo can comment here.

  • After 10.4.3 upgrade, problems resuming from standby

I have a Powerbook G3 Pismo 400 MHz with 576 MB RAM. After upgrading to 10.4.3, every time I open the lid to resume from standby, the powerbook freezes, even when no programs are open. It shows the desktop as it was previously, but the mouse will not move, the keys have no effect, etc. This lasts for approximately 25-30 seconds, after which time it becomes responsive again and acts normally.
I've noticed that this occurs if I have the powerbook plugged in to the A/C, but don't have the battery in. If I put the battery in, it doesn't exhibit this problem. I've tried fixing the disk permissions, and reinstalled from the combo update download, but that didn't help.
Has anyone else experienced this, is there a solution, and does Apple monitor this forum for bug reports, or is there another way to submit a bug report?

Thanks Dave; I tried dragging the folders on the CD onto the desktop and they copy okay, and indicate by size they are full. They open on the desktop with all showing in them. So I copied all the CDs I use and re-burned them -- they will now read okay so I do not need to drag files to the desktop first, but can get it right from the CD. Seems like a lot of extra hassle for something that should be very simple to do. ;-} Again, i appreciate your suggestion, and quick response.

  • Windows 8 won't find any airport after resuming from standby

    Hi,
I have had a windows 7 PC with both airport express (2nd and 3rd generation) working flawlessly. I bought a new Windows 8 Laptop. Initially everything worked fine, but after resuming from standby mode (closed the display and reopened) my itunes stopped working, and the airport utility software was unable to find both airport express. After shutdown and restart they both worked again until the next standby mode.
I've read somewhere that it might be a conflict with IPv6 so I disabled it from registry, but the problem remains.....
    any thoughts
    Regards,
    German

Did you upgrade the drivers from the wireless card manufacturer in win8 machine.. ??
If that doesn't work.. do some more basic wireless investigation..
    1. Are wireless names SMB compliant.. ie short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric?
    2. WPA2 Personal security with a password which also conforms to the above.
    3. Test with fixed wireless channels. 11, 6, 1
    4. If none of the above work.. turn off security for a few minutes and see if that works.

  • 35% CPU after resume from Standby

After comming out of standby, CPU runs at 35% busy for a long time (30 minutes or more). Reboot and CPU is 2%. Is there a reason why resuming from Standby is crippling the system. The CPU time is in a SYSTEM process with no other information (Task Manager) and just runs and runs and runs.  The system is 4 days old and I have not made changes to the BIOS settings.

Thanks for the reply but the solution related to a docking station problem and I do not have a docking station. But the problem has gone away. Why? I do not know. That is actually more distressing because there was no cause to link the problem to. So who knows when it will just start again. I did change the power options to not hibernate but then changed them back. The change seems to have made the problem go away. Turn it off then back on and it runs differently. Not very comforting.
