K8t800 onboard sound randomly stops until restart

my onboard sound seems to randomly stop working at times.
my 5.1 speakers have a power/volume knob that clicks the power off when you turn the knob all the way down.
the only consistency i've found is that sometimes i'll turn the volume all the way down, but stop before actually turning the speakers off.
then i'll go away for a while and come back to a computer with absolutely no audio.
i don't think the problem is with the speakers, because i can reboot and my sound comes back. i've also tried cycling power on the speakers via the power switch and also unplugging the whole system.
i've never been listening to music and then had the sound go out. it only happens when i leave the computer for a while and then come back.
my only guess is the gnomes that live under my desk are playing tricks on me.

I consulted my grandmother on this one. She said the gnomes could be unhappy. U need to leave some oatmeal on the floor for them to eat. This could make them stop sabotaging ur computer
Anywayz,
I do think it is ur sound system. My subwoofer turns off when I don't use it, or when the sound is very faint.
It switches itself on again when it is feeded louder sounds.
Subwoofers use power doing nothing, so I gues it is a usefull feature.

  • Sound randomly stops working in Windows 8

I have a new HP PC and the sound randomly stops working.  When the sound stops, it stops in all applications:  iTunes, Web Browser, etc.
    PC DETAILS:
    HP Omni 27 all-in-one desktop
    Windows 8 Pro
In Device Manager, under Sound, this is what I have:
    - AVerMedia H334 MiniCard Hybrid ATSC/QAM
    - Bluetooth Audio Device
    - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
I just set up this new pc this week and I have run all the windows  and drivers updates so everything is up to date.
When I boot up the pc, the sound works fine for a while and then randomly stops working.  For example, if I play music in iTunes 11, the latest version, it may play for 1 minute or it may play for 10 minutes and then it just randomly stops playing sound and the sound will not come back until I reboot and the same thing happens all over again.
I have searched this online and I found quite a few people posting similar sound issues with Windows 8, but I have not found a fix for this problem yet.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do not understand that; if it's not installed, it cannot possibly be enabled.

  • Sound randomly stops and starts

    Hello,
Over 2 days, as I watch Netflix, or listen to music on other apps, my sound randomly stops and starts.  I have no control of it.  I do not have to touch my ipod when this happens, it does this on its own.  On for 20 min, off for 5 min, on for 5, off for 2, on for 1 min, off for 15 min.  It ossolates randomly through time.
I hard reboot, but this works or does not work (for a while).  Any ideas?

  • After upgrading, videos randomly stop and restart.

Since upgrading to iTunes 10 purchased videos of TV shows randomly stop and restart. I've had these videos for years and never had a problem, but now every time I watch an episode it sill get around 5 minutes in and spontaneously start the episode over. Anyone else having these problems?

    Hi Fabrizio,
why do you want to reboot your server every sunday?????
If you reboot your SAP this often, you'll have performance problems every Monday. All
of your SAP internal Buffers must be filled again after an reboot. If your DB is on the
same Host, also your DB Buffer is empty.
If this is an productive System, i highly recommend you that you not reboot your SAP System this often....
(By side, thats the difference between an *nix and an Windows System.).
What is the reason for doing that?

  • Sound randomly stops working on Iphone 5c

The sound randomly will stop working. (ringers, audio, etc.) I have had this phone for one day.
Oddly enough, the same thing was going on with my iphone 5 which is a big reason I went and upgraded, now i am just very aggravated!
Anyone know what could be going on??

I have the same problem with my new 5c, seemingly carried over from when I upgraded from my old 3s that had the same problem - all sounds randomly stop working (although vibrate seems to still work) and then randomly start working again.
When you set up your new phone did you 'restore' from your old phone's back-up or set it up completely like a new phone? I did the former so I assume whatever the 'glitch' is, it may be something to do with that.
I called 1-800-MYIPHONE and was advised to do a hard reset - I questioned the point of that when I effectively started from scratch with my new phone only a few weeks ago (well, when I say from scratch I of course mean I 'restored' from my old phone's back-up so that all my stuff would carry over...), plus given the coincidence of having the same problem on my old phone... Next guidance was to restore the phone to factory settings and start over from 'new phone' status, which I did this afternoon... so far so good but we shall see. Here's a link to the guide on how to do it if you want to give it a whirl:

  • Audigy SE sound randomly stop

So I got this card and installed it and the drivers and everything worked swimmingly. Then, all of a sudden, my sound just stops working. Seriously - just stopped. I immediately checked to see if i muted anything or any of that jazz, and nothing was muted. I ran the diagnostics test and and said everything was fine! I un-installed and re-installed the drivers - didn't help. I "repaired" the drivers - nada. Then during one of my reboots I got the blue screen of death! Cool. I restarted again and windows successfully loaded so i decided to disable the Sound Blaster card and go back to my onboard sound - just to make sure THAT, atleast, works. It worked fine, and so i decided to enable sound blaster - disable onboard - and reinstall the drivers. And that didn't work.
I've contacted tech support but apparently that takes a hot 24 hours and I'd like to return this card TODAY if it's defecti've...

$ Did you get a solution on this issue, I'm having the same, even formated/reimaged from XP to SEVEN, and it worked at the beggining of the installation, it has stopped working just now. The weird thing is that it sounds perfectly in my linux install  ... I only use windows for sound/related task, I'm a musician.

  • Trash sounds randomly stops working in Mountain Lion

I noticed that the trash sounds (putting a file in the trash, emptying the trash) will randomly stop working.  A restart usually fixes this but at some point it will randomly stop working again.
    Any solutions?

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go To Folder
Type or copy / paste:   ~/Library/Preferences
Click Go then move the  com.apple.dock.plist   file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
See if that made a difference...

  • My sound randomly stopped working on my ipad how do i fix it?, my sound randomly stopped working on my ipad how do i fix it?

well my sound randomly one day stopped working how do i fix it so my sound will be ok again?

I would start by checking the mute button on the side of the iPad to make sure that this has not accidentally gotten switched. Then go into settings> general>sounds and make sure that everything is on, etc.
It would be helpful to know if the sound isn't working constantly and for every purpose or only in certain circumstances.

  • Sounds randomly stopping

    Hi,
I have an odd problem with my iphone. Quite often, and for no apparent reason, my sounds will stop working. That is, lock and unlock click, typing clicks, text message tone. The only thing that works is incoming call ringtone and music and videos.
I seem to be able to fix the problem either with a reset, or by entering the sound settings and playing my ringtone, but the sounds cease again soon after. Anyone know why this could be?
    Thanks

Same problem here... click sounds, etc... stopped working. I can play itunes and go to settings and play my ring tones but when someone calls... no ring tones and all the little clicks have stopped after updating to the newest software.... 3.1.2

  • DHCP service randomly stopping, when restarted scopes disappear

I have DHCP and DNS running on two OS X 10.5.7 servers; one is a G5 dual 1.8 Ghz PPC and the other is a 2.8 Ghz quad-core Intel Xserve. This summer I've added VLAN scopes (staff and student wired & wireless) with half the available addresses in each subnet on one server and the other half on the other. An odd thing has happened several times now. The DHCP service will randomly shut down and when I restart it, the new scopes have all disappeared and the old scope is back as the only choice on the list, but not enabled. When I go to check the other server I find the same thing. I thought it was just a fluke the first time it happened and just imported the DHCP settings back in from a backup. It has happened two more times since then, about once a week. If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate it.

I too am having this issue.
DHCP service will crash (after investigation I found that it was servermgrd that crashes) all the scopes are still there, then when I restart the service it wipes out all my scopes except the default one that is in there when you initially configure the service.
Everything goes haywire, DNS seems to go down halfway, then I put the scopes back in, and at least DHCP rights itself.
This is a serious issue, I have 5 scopes in this server. I also have one other server that only has one scope, but does not have this issue.
All running 10.5.6 Server on Intel Xserves.

  • All sound randomly dissapearing after use of about 2 hours or so

My sound randomly stops working after a few hours of use. I need help because I tend to be in long-term Skype calls and when I'm editing or watching over a video for business purposes my audio randomly cuts out. I have found a way to fix it and one way
only and that is to reset my PC. Is there any other solution?

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:
    Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
    Expand Custom Views
    Click Administrative Events
    Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post
If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.  The
work around is to edit the registry.  If you are not comfortable doing this DONT.  If you are, backup the key before you do
    Press Win+"R" and input regedit
    Navigate to:

External speakers randomly stop working until I "test" or disable/enable them. Headphone/HDMI Audio Works.
    Background
-Recently had to do a clean install of windows.
-Went to the HP Drivers Website and downloaded all of the latest drivers.
-I installed several other programs as well (Flash, Steam, Media Player, Browser)
    -The problem started
    Current Settings
-My deafult device is "Speakers and Headphones: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC"
    -Enhancements are disabled
-Bass and Treble are set to 4
-Format is set to 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)
-Allowing applications to take exclusive control of the device or not doesn't make a difference (but it's currently off)
    Troubleshooting
-The audio works by plugging in headphones or using an HDMI device
-The audio comes back if I go to my sound settings and hit "Test", or if I disable and re-enable the device
    Error Messages
-Youtube starts the video for 3 seconds, restarts and sputters a bit, and then says that there was an error
-My media player (MusicBee) gives me this message: "Unable to start playback (Error = BASS_ERROR_BUFLOST)"
That's everything I can think of. Any ideas?

I see that you are having a frustrating time with the sound to your external speakers. Have you tried connecting the speakers to another computer to see if is a hardware issue with the speakers? Do the regular speakers work? What is your product number as there are several models in the dv6 series?

  • Audio stops working in safari until restart

The audio randomly stops working in all applications and doesn't work again until I restart. It still makes that clicking sound when you turn the volume up but there is nothing in iTunes or safari. It's not the same as the issue others are having where plugging and unplugging in headphones resolves the problem because that doesn't work. I kept thinking an update would fix it but no luck :(. Interestingly if I open parallels the sound works just find in windows 7. Please help it's getting really annoying to restart every time I want to watch a video.

    same probelm here.
sound icon is greyed out, no output devices... until restart.

I unplug my MacBook Pro from power and external speaker and I hear  incremental beeps and sounds as if email being sent. Doesn't' stop until I close email.   Not sure what is happening our what if any emails are being sent.

You can install Temperature Monitor and have a look if the CPU oder GPU oder something else went to hot. The processor has a built in safety mechanism to shut down the computer before taking damage.

    Hi..
Try Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
If that doesn't help, try Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters
When you post, please tell us which Mac OS X you have installed. Thanks
