  • Software update failed. help please!

I have just tried to install my 10 OS software it was all fine until at the very end of the 2GB update I got the message 'software failed'. I have read this might be because of lack of space but I have checked that and I have enough free space. Now when I attempt to start the update against it only gives me the option to cancel and that button doesn't do anything! Any solutions?
    Thanks

Here is another post with the similar problem. Follow this one too just in case a solution is found: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Software-Update-Interrupted-...
This is what I said on that post:
I had this happened to me on a brand new Z10. I called Verizon and they informed me this is one of those moments where you have to hate RIM. According to Verizon when you are doing the update process and your phone loses signal, or turns off during the update process, the phone goes into an "unfixable state". The only way to fix the phone according to Verizon is by sending the phone back and getting a new one.
They also said "to make sure when anyone does updates with the phone to do them when you will have the best signal and the phone is plugged in. DO NOT move the phone during the update process to maximize a successful update process."

  • I keep being asked to update my Safari but when I do a Software update it scans but never gives me a list and just says no new updates. Help please!

I keep being asked to update my Safari but when I do a Software update it scans but never gives me a list and just says no new updates. Help please!

There are no updates to either OS 10.5.8 or Safari 5.0.6.
If you need a later version of Safari you must first upgrade your operating system to a later version of OS X.

Mouse buttons no longer work for iTunes playback (play/pause, next, previous) after update! Help please!

When you say "mouse button", do you mean clicking on the controls in the upper left of the iTunes window or do you mean that you have special media keys on your mouse?

  • Can't get into IPad 2 after latest update.  HELP, PLEASE!??

I made the mistake of updating my IPad 2 to the latest IOS7.  Now I cannot get into it.  When I turn it on, it says 'hello' and to swipe to set up the new update.  Sometimes the swipe brings up a new screen; sometimes it just scrolls through several languages.  Sometimes it asks for my Apple ID and gets as far as "updating ICloud."  It NEVER finishes updating ICloud!
I cannot reach my apps or a normal looking screen.  Can someone help, please?  Is there any way to get this update to work or to UNDO the update?  I'll be grateful if you can help.......  Thank you so much!

  • "Bluetooth: Not Available" problem created by software update; need help please?

I ran a regular software update as prompted by my iMac to get to 10.6.8, and now have "Bluetooth: Not Available" with squiggly line thru it.  I've tried an SMC, updated software to 10.8.4...no availability of my Bluetooth to work the magic mouse, or any ability to access Bluetooth in System Preferences...help please?

You say you have "tried an SMC."  Reset the SMC nd PRAM again.
    Barry
P.S.  It is unlikely that the update had anything to do with the missing Bluetooth.

  • MJ9 Update - "Update Failed" Help?

A few days ago, I got an alert on my Samsung Galaxy Note II saying a new update was available for my current version of MC3. The new version is MJ9. I hit OK. It downloaded the update and then restarted. It showed the Android 'robot' and the status bar going across below where it was installing/applying the update. It gets about 60-70% and then shows the robot with a Red X, restarts and gives a message of Update Failed. I tried it twice, same thing.
I've been having some problems in recent months with my phone hanging up quite a bit and even did a hard reset and reinstalled everything from scratch about 6 weeks ago but that didn't seem to fix issues. So I backed up my data again yesterday and before downloading or doing anything, I tried downloading/applying the new update. It did the exact same thing as I described above.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there anything else I should try?

    Hey,
Would you please let me know which JDBC driver you are using?
    Thanks!

  • Botched Update Need Help PLEASE!

Last week an Auto-Update failed and when I went to restart I got the forever loading screen. So after several minutes I started up in single user mode and I received the infamous:
Load of /sbin/launchd failed, errno 88
I have found discussions on the matter on random internet boards and blogs pretaining to ealier versions but nothing here yet. I'm not too Terminal "Bash" Savy but here was my attempt.
I downloaded what I thought would be the latest update that was botched onto a Flash Drive MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.11Intel.dmg. The goal of course was to install manually as other Mac owners had been successful with this approach. I did have a problem with identifying my Hard Drive. I would get the message: "/Volumes/Macintosh HD does not exist." I tried several approaches including /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/.
I also noticed when I ran System Profiler that *My Disk Utility is 10.5.8 Last modified 8/20/06*... Again, I'm no expert but it is my understanding that 10.5.8 is Leopard, right? So... how is that possible? And what should be my course of action from here?

    01. You have posted your 'Tiger' problem to an AppleScript programmers' discussion group. The appropriate group would be the 'Tiger' discussion group.
    02. An experienced Macintosh user knows not to use the 'auto-install' feature (particularly with respect to a Security or System Update); but, to download the update(s), and manually install it / them. With respect to a System Update - download and install only the 'Combo Update' ('Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel)' in your situation), with one exception - when updating to 'Mac OS X 10.x.1', where there will be no 'Combo Update' equivalent.
    03. '... what should be my course of action from here?' - ...
If you have data to be backed up - you will need another Mac, a Firewire cable, and to follow these 'Firewire Target mode' instructions; then copy your data to the other Mac.
Whether you follow the above step (if needed to back up data) or not, boot from the provided install disc and perform an 'Erase and Install' installation. Once completed, obtain (that is - down first) the needed / preferred updates - and then install them. A suggestion - if 'QuickTime' and 'iTunes' are among the updates - install 'QuickTime' first, then 'iTunes'.
Finally, return the backed up data to your Mac.
Note: You can use the 'Apple, Software Update...' menu item, to launch 'Software Update' to obtain a list of Apple's suggested updates. From here you download the suggested / preferred updates via the applications 'Update, Download Only' menu item. The downloaded file(s) will be saved to the '/Library/Packages/' folder.
If among the list you see only 'Mac OS X 10.4.11 Update (Intel)' - remove its check mark, so as not to have it downloaded. Instead, click here - to view the web page from which 'Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel)' can be downloaded from.
    Recent 'Software Update' observation:
When performing the suggested 'Software Update' steps above, with a PowerPC G4 dual 500 MHz PowerMac - running MacOS X 10.4.11, the application listed 'Java 1.3.1 and 1.4.2 Release 2', 'iTunes Phone Driver', 'iPhoto Update', 'QuickTime', and 'Compatibility Update for QuickTime' as the needed updates. I choose to download, not auto install, the updates. The result was four (4) of the '.pkg' files saved to the Mac's '/Library/Packages/' folder, with an alert box stating 'Some of the checked updates couldn't be downloaded. The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by "Apple"' - with respect to the 'QuickTime' update.
Wow, Apple's 'Software Update' application checked my system installation, talked home, suggested a list, and then reported a failure! Go figure. One could only imagine what may have happened - if the updates were allowed to be auto installed.
P.S. After the first four (4) updates were successfully downloaded, I attempted to download only the 'QuickTime' update. It too was then successfully downloaded. Rhetorical questions: Should I then trust the 'QuickTime' download?, or any of the downloads recommended by 'Software Update'?
Final note: Typically, one does not have to download (and install) the latest updates, at the time of release, or at any time; unless an application or an update requires the installation of another update - prior to its installation and usage.

  • When trying to download the IOS 7.1.1 update I continue to get a message that the update failed?  Please advise!

When trying to download the ISO 7.1.1 update, my iPad goes through the downloading  process and then goes to the preparing mode and after a while returns a message that the "Software Update Failed, an error occurred downloading IOS 7.1.1 ."  Any suggestions?

Make sure anti-virus and other security software is disabled.
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
