K9A2 CF BIOS 1.22

Anyone tried it?
Does it have the "PS/2 mouse not found error" or is this the first official BIOS that does not give this error? (aparth form beta v1.21 BIOS)
BTW beta 1.21 runs absolutely great. So this BIOS would only give me an official BIOS instead of beta

  • SOLVED: K9A2 CF bios 1.9

    Guys,
NOTE THIS: There seem to be many problems with the K9A2 CF board and bios version 1.9. There are many reports about the board not wanting to POST with an usb-device connected.
Our advice is to not flash the board to bios version 1.9. We are currently in contact with MSI to see what's going on.
For those of you experiencing this, flash the board back to version 1.8 and follow this thread to get the latest information about this. We'll inform you all as soon as possible.
Credits go to KRomeleoN, who warned about this earlier.
    Best regards,
    Hans,
    MSI HQ Forum Team

SOLUTION: Anyone having trouble with this board/bios combination, please post a bios replacement request to me or one of the other moderators. We will then provide you with information on how to obtain an updated bios.
After flashing, disconnect AC power and clear cmos!, >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
    Thank you.

  • K9A2 Platinum bios 1.4 or 1.5 Promise RAID fail Boot.

Ok I have BIOS version 1.3 running fine. I want to upgrade to a bios that officially support the phenom and its power usage. So back in may I try to upgrade to bios 1.4. No good the machine will not boot the RAID set that contains window XP.  :( Reverted back. Contacted support. Not much help... a few weeks pass. Contact support again they send me bios version 1.51. Same issue.  Reverted back to 1.3. Recently I tried the final release of 1.5 with the same issue.
Anyone out there using a phenom on the K9A2 and booting with the Promise RAID controller in a striped 0 set ? How did you get it to work with the current bios version. Tech support 'claims'  they have no problem with the bios and that they have tested it with the promise controller booting to XP.
    Thanks,
    Jon Harrell

Considering the very large files that regularly run through the system and the extra cpus that windows inefficiently uses I doubt a software controller would impact the performance gains significantly. The units we have prep large format presentations and regularly handle very large files. Bandwidth is key. If this was the average desktop or even a web server yes 1 drive would most definitely be faster. But that would be a different subject.
Although now we might just be considering scraping the whole MSI created mess, and purchasing a hardware solution like that of the quad sata raid in our server.
    But for now:
Does any one know the perfect combination?
e.g. Promise driver 1.1.1030.47 !work with Bios 1.50 (promise 2.8.1030.0032)
    Thanks,

  • K9A2 Platinum BIOS, are there any hard drive size limitations ?

I have a K9A2 Platinum system with version 1.10 of the AMI BIOS. Recently trying to re-initialize a Linux grub /boot partition which is near the end of my 2 TB hard drive I received the message:
"Error 18: Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS"
I see nothing in the AMI BIOS limiting the number of cylinders on any of my hard disks. Is there some setting in the BIOS I should be changing to fix this problem or is this just a legacy grub limitation ?

  • MSI K9A2 CF - Bios A7388AMS.1A2 - HELP ME!!!

My pc work in 100% on bios 1.8 and I'm update bios to A7388AMS.1A2. Please tell me what i must do to recovery 1.8. I see black screen and Leds on front side computer don't work. I'm don't head any voice(beep) and my computer don't start without unpluged usb device. This is AMI bios.
    My computer:
    MSI K9A2 CF
    AMD Phenom x4 920
    Asus Hd4830 512 mb
    Patriot 2x1gb 800MHz 5-5-5-12
    Seagate 160 GB sata
    Keyboard and Mouse: USB

I was going to install and try them. My biggest problem is with the fact that MSI is currently misrepresenting their product by merging the V1 with the V2 CPU support list completely. Didn't you see what I said about the CPU support list and my calls to MSI tech support regarding the sudden 125W CPU support? Perhaps you can explain why this was done and enlighten me as to why MSI employees have stated that they are in fact supported? I'd call them right now, ask yet again, and probably get the same answer, but, it's Saturday.
Could you also explain why if there are such obvious issues with these BIOS versions (no USB support? only 1 DIMM support?) that they are still listed at all. Even worse is the fact that 1.9 is active within the Live Update database. That, to me, is an obvious oversight and borders on blatant incompetence. And yes, I am frustrated and venting some of that... I apologize.
In my case, even with one of these CPUs installed using 1.8, there would be no power to OC either one. The only reason I purchased them both was because of what MSI told me about 125W support, and these aren't even close to that. I might be able to take the 7850 to 3.0Ghz or the Callisto to 3.3 if I were to also under-volt them, but that's not always successful. I suppose I should be happy I at least get a little more speed along with some L3 cache using one of these, but I am not. I truly wish I had known this before I wasted money on a CPU I'll never see perform to it's full potential.
Again, I apologize for seeming so obviously disgruntled. I hope you can understand why I feel this way.

  • K9A2 Platinum BIOS - Beating a Dead Horse?

I heard a rumor (posted on the AMD processor forums in one of my posts) that MSI has stopped adding to the K9A2 Platinum (V1 board) BIOS.  They will not be adding a selective disable to the TLB bug, they will not be adding a northbridge multiplier setting.  Any truth to this horrible rumor?  My support request with MSI to add a northbridge multiplier so I can actually get my memory speed up where it is rated was met with the likes of "we probably won't be doing that".  Is BIOS 1.3 going to be the last one?  I don't really WANT to go back to BIOS P.0E just so I can unlock the northbridge multiplier.  It has a bunch of other issues with memory.  This board is priced quite low considering... I wonder if they ended up losing money on it and decided to stop supporting the V1 board?

I would probably consider not being able to turn the TLB errata fix off a problem. Going from the original BIOS (v1.0 I think) to 1.3 lowered my computers performance by about 10%ish. This includes FPS in games and all 3DMark scores.
Now it could be something totally different causing the lowered performance as I do not know when MSI added the "fix". I never run virtualization programs so the fix does only harm in terms of performance.
I did ask MSI about the posibility to disable TLB fix in BIOS and this what they answered:

Okay people, I'm going to put an end to the discussion here, because I need some information, not a discussion. It seems there is a slight problem with the 1.9 bios and MSI is working on it.
Now, I need the following information:
    - what devices are connected when there is a POST problem?
    - Please provide brandname / model number exactly.
    - Also, do provide any circumstance under which the board will post with devices connected, like some RAM being pulled / reinstalled.
I will forward this info to the MSI bios engeneering team.
No more discussion please, just plain info, nothing more.
    Thank you.
I think it is now a problem with usb legacy. here is my usb devices:
    Mouse: Microsoft Explorer Wireless Bluetrack
    Keyboard: Fellowes Wireless Antibacterial Microban
    Webcam: Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX
ReadyBoost Drive: Patriot 4GB Flash Drive
Miscellaneous: Bluetooth USB Adapter, Transcend Card Reader, Blackberry Storm Dock
with usb legacy enabled, they all cause the system to fail.

I was just wondering if anyone has any info if MSI will make a more robust bios after 1.5 that will support overclocking of CPU voltages. As it is I can only get 2.8 GHZ on my phenom 9850  because of the inability to up CPU voltages. My friend has the newest ASUS board which has a much better bios and he's been able to overclock his 9850 to 3.36 stable with almost identical hardware to mine.
If you are refering to the newest 790GX boards: they will simply overclock the CPU higher than a 790FX board will, because of the ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) function of the new SB750 southbridge. Not really a matter of BIOS options, but a matter of a newer chipset...
You would probably match the results of the new ASUS board using the new MSI board, the DKA790GX Platinum for example...

  • K9A2 *V1* Bios 1.8 - No drivers for Promise RAID controller.

Does anyone know which set of Promise Raid drivers work with the updated Promise firmware that is part of the 1.8 bios update?
Version 1.2 of the bios includes Promise version 28.1030.0021 which works with at least 1.1.1030.27 of the promise drivers.
Version 1.8 of the bios includes Promise version 28.1030.0032 for which I cannot find any working drivers; do they exist? (Vista cannot see the controller and is unable to locate a suitable driver. Trying to use existing promise driver fails since it will not recognise the device)
Just had a brainwave. On the MSI site, there is an updated driver pack for the Promise controller (this is a V1 board); this version is
    Vista32/64 Ver.: 1.1.1030.47
Is this the version that is compatible with v1.8 of the bios (and hence 28.1030.0032)?

Give them a try, they if they work will show soon enough.

I have a MSI K9A2 Platinum Motherboard. Bios version 1.8
AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0 GHZ that I have over clocked to (17.5) 3.4Ghz
However anytime I go over that to say multiplyer set to 18 (3.5 ghz) it still runs but crashes when running high end games. I know I have to go in an adjust voltages. However, in the cell menu I can't access the CPU voltage areas I hit enter but nothing happens. It tells me Grey is defualt, White is stable and red is the obvious not recommended setting, but again I can't access it.  Is there something I need to disable before I mess with the voltages?
I know that doing any of this could fry the chip I have liquid cooling pretty much this idles at 28 deg Celcuis, that is with it over clocked so I know I have som room and know I should only up the vltage slightly. I just need to know how to do it.
I also wanted to adjust the FSB from the current 200 to 270 which I was told is possible with this board and also that is where it should run stable. Again I just need to know how to access these things in the Bios. If its a bios issue I can update to the next one,1.9, but did not see the need to do so. Anyways any help is greatly appreciated. I am familar with overclocking just not with this motherboard. Any user who uses MSI who could offer assitance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have tried about every option in the bios and even changed floppy drives and floppy disks multiple times. downloading newer/older drivers as well. i cant even get it to install on one drive.

www.Nliteos.com great program copy your windows CD to a Directory then run Nlite select different options you want, like slipstream service packs and hotfixes, drivers, tweaks, remove stuff from install like MSN, outlook express, do a true unattended intsall (input your key and all that) its pretty powerful then put in a blank CD and hit burn and out spits a new XP disc thats custom for you.
i dont recommend putting ALL your drivers IE video card, sound and all that just the basics then use the proper installers for the big drivers.
check out the forums on the site lots of great info
