K9AGM2-FIH 1080p via HDMI

Hello,
I have baught the K9AGM2-FIH (MS-7237 Version 1.0) to connect it via HDMI to my Samsug LE37M86BD Both are supporting 1080p.
When I choose at catalyst controlcenter 1920x1080p (progressive mode) the resulition is only 1920x1080i (interlaced mode). I recognize it at the onscreen display of the TV and the flickering when I'm scrolling and on menue soft appearance.
How do I get the progressive mode enabled!
Thanks
Oliver
PS: 760p is working at progressive mode.
PS2: I have tried the CCC from the deliverd CD, from the MSI Hompage and the most recent (31.5.07) from ATI. Every time the same result interlaced mode only.

Wirruna,
It will be jumpy because the resolution is too high. Your using integrated VGA don't forget.
this is cleary a driver issue
did the default windows driver work at 1920x1080?
what about posting a support request at http://ati.com/support
http://support.ati.com/ics/support/KBList.asp?folderID=10578
AMD 690G series clearly says "Supports a maximum resolution of 2048x1536 @ 32bpp"
meybe try PowerStrip, get that to 1920x1080 @ 50hz

  • Satellite P200 1EE - can this output to 1080p via HDMI?

    HI
My first post on this forum.
I recently bought this notebook and have connected it to my LCD TV at home. However, I can't seem to get 1080p via HDMI only 1080i (my TV is capable of accepting 1080p through HDMI). Anyone know if this is possible? (I have updated the latest display drivers from Toshiba).
Also whilst watching movies, I am noticing a lot of grain/noise on the notebook screen. Is this normal or is it a defect? I was watching Transformers HD DVD last night and could see loads of noise not only during dark scenes but generally throughout the film.
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Shak.

    Hi Shak.
It helps that you've ensured your LCD tv supports 1080p. For this resolution you have to check in your graphic card driver catalyst a needed option. Open that control center and look for dvi settings and uncheck the "reduce dvi frequenzy on high resolution displays" option. 1080p should work now.
For the grainy/noisy thing with the Transformers HD-DVD. I don't think it is a defect or something like that. Just put in another movie and see if the picture quality is better or not. Quality differs from movie to movie.
Check it out and give me a quick answer if it worked.

  • Why does my late 2012 mac mini flicker like a VHS tape when on 1080p via HDMI?

I just got a late 2012 mac mini,
After launching the app store for the first time, I was told to update to Mac OS 10.8.2, I obliged and came back to see that the screen was flickering like a vhs tapes with lines appearing and disappearing in the space of a millisecond. it goes away when I change to 720p but it looks horrible.
I saw a fix on the apple website but It said that it wasn't supported on my system even though It said mac mini IN THE TITLE!

  • K9AGM2-FIH - HDMI out video problem

    Morning all,
Just finished building the new HTPC for the theatre. Have the K9AGM2-FIH board in an antec fusion case, and it was initally hooked up to a Pioneer VSX-AX4AsiS. Found that even though the amp was telling the PC (running Vista Home Premium) that it was capable of taking 1080p at 60 and the video card said it was outputing at that, there was a large black border shown when projected through the DLA-HD1 (which said it was receiving a 1080p signal from amp).
Connecting the PC directly to the projector rectified that problem but in the processing of swapping over I came across the REAL problem. Everytime the projector is powered off or swaps inputs the PC seems to switch off HDMI and wont try turning it on again. Plugged it back into the AMP and exactly the same thing (after having to reboot because I swapped the cables over and PC wasnt outputting via HDMI anymore). Everytime I swapped inputs on the AMP and came back to the 'HDMI in' assigned to the PC there was no signal. Same thing when turning the projector off whilst powering up the PC, if the PC cant talk to its HDMI output device during bootup it never seems to try talking to it again. Changing nothing and touching no cables but simply rebooting with the output device switched on will instantly give the boot screen and then off into Vista it goes...
Just wondering if anyone else has this problem and even better would be a fix that they have come across
    Thanks muchly,
    Sam

I feel your pain with msi boards. Or in that they offer NO tech support. Its like msi is ran by a little 90 year old lady working from her basement, and she cant hobble down the stairs anymore to get to her basement. I have emailed tech suppost often, and other than the auto generated reply, no human ever got back to me.
As for hdmi, hdmi is tricky. Sometimes audio is not even supported thru the hdmi. Depends. But it should be digital if it is.
I dont have that MB , I have the msi K9AGM-FID for two months, but I am also already looking into moving to another mb with better support. The "abit AN M2 nview" has one model, AN M2HD nview that does have hdmi plus vga (dual outs). It looks to be a very nice board. Then they have AN M2 nview that does not have hdmi, but has DVI out and vga (again, dual outs). And both boards have optical digital out. Monoprice.com has a 75-foot digital optical cable for under $20. So for me, I plan on using the DVI to my plasma tv and getting the 75' optical cable to run audio to my home theater receiver. I already have a 50' dvi cable going from this MB to the tv, plus just L+R audio line. You might want to look into the abit AN M2HD nview. Just no reason msi has to be so poorly ran of a company. Its like they are not only poorly ran, its like they go out of their way to irritate customers.

  • No signal apple tv3 to projector via hdmi to Dvi-d

I have a 3rd gen Apple TV. Works great on my 1080p tv, with optical out to my surround amp. When I connect to my Panasonic pt-ae500 720p projector via hdmi to dvi-d I get no signal at all. The projector is HDCP compliant and I can connect my ps3 to it at 720p no problem.
I have tried changing the edid settings on the projector, and changing resolutions on atv.
Any suggestions? I really need to set up my home cinema incorporating ATV
    Thanks
    Steve

It's an inherent problem between the ATV 2 & 3 and certain older models of TV / Projectors. Something to do with negotiating the signal between the two devices, the ATV falls over.
I also have this issue. I dug out my old PT-AE500 only to find that my ATV 2 was getting stuck on the Apple logo. No solution yet though, unfortunately.
There is another (old) thread on it here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2631562?start=0&tstart=0
There are a couple of ideas there, one of which was to switch the ATV on *before* plugging in the HDMI cable, let it boot up (give it 2 mins or so) then plug in the cable. This solved it for one person on that thread, but I can't get it to work here! I'll give it another try.
It's only the Apple Tv that has this issue as well. My MBP, Mac mini, etc, work perfectly. Just inconvenient having to lug them to the projector each time we want to watch a movie
Sorry I can't be of much help, but maybe have a read through that thread to see if any of the tips there work for you.
I'll also report back if I manage to find something that DOES work!

  • Is it possible to connect Apple TV to Marantz SR8001 via HDMI?

Video won't display, says there's no source. I updated my Apple TV software to the latest version, this setup was never tested through the previous version.
I'm using Apple's HDMI cable so that's not an issue.
The device connects directly to my TV's HDMI (1080p), so that's not an issue.
Optical out on the Apple TV to Optical in on my receiver works fine, so that's not an issue.
I have the correct input selected on the receiver, so that's not the problem.
The HDMI input on the reciever is functional for AUDIO (tested using component Y/Cb/Cr and HDMI from Blu-Ray DVD player), just not video from my Apple TV, but receiving audio/video directly from the Apple TV to the TV (bypassing the receiver) works perfectly.
So the HDMI cable works, the Optical Audio works through the receiver, but the video signal IN from the Apple TV (3rd gen) to the receiver via HDMI gets no signal detected. Is this due to the HDCP handshake not resolving properly? I can't even see the menus so I don't think that should interfere.
While I am capable of switching between multiple inputs and outputs, my goal is to channel all devices through the receiver (that's what receivers are for) to the Home Theater Audio (7.1 surround) and Video (TV). All my other devices work perfectly (even my old VCR upscales through the receiver). Watching old TV reruns through Netflix in 120hz is a little disconcerting (so clear it looks live action) but fun.
I notice the resolutions available on the Apple TV only goes up to 1080p 60hz. My TV can handle 120hz but that's not a game breaker.
Any solutions are appreciated. If I need to update or backdate my Apple TV/firmware/software or contact Marantz for a firmware update specific to Apple TV I suppose I can do those things. It's just irritating when I'm so used to my Apple products not being picky and complicated and suddenly something doesn't work.
    Thanks!

Searching the forums for the answer revealed nothing. Posting the question above revealed a similar question here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/7144642#7144642
The selected "best answer" was not helpful to me. The "reset HDMI" answer (the last one is different than the two before it), was helpful.
Also after resetting my HDMI sequence in the receiver (as per Marantz suggestion in the linked posted comment), I switched from Component Y/Cb/Cr output to HDMI output to TV.
All is fine now. Hope this answer helps someone else, otherwise I'd have just deleted my question.

Well basically it is in the title, my Macbook Pro will no longer connect to my tv via HDMI.

  • New 2010 Mac Mini and LG 37" Full HD (via HDMI) query..

Hello all! I have just bought the new Mac Mini which I want to use along with my LG 37" (LH5000) full HD LCD TV.I have hooked them both up together via HDMI. When I first turned the Mac Mini on it detected various resolutions and choose 1080p. However, on this resolution the menu bar, dock finder windows etc all look too small when im sitting on the couch. Im only around 3 metres away from the TV.
Ive changed various resolutions, in fact the 720p resolution looks bigger and better....but surely I should be using 1080p? I was wondering if any one else out there has a similar setup and what res you would recommend I should use? There are other resolutions but I assume the other ones are all Mac (computer LCD) base.
    Thanks in advance
    Ben

Yes, this is a significant issue. And since Apple doesn't allow adjustment of type sizes throughout the OS, it can be very problematic.
One solution is to do as you have done and run the display at a lower resolution.
Another solution is to use the magnification tools that are provided in the Universal Access control panel (system preferences).
Screen zoom works with any scroll mouse (you do not need to buy the MS mouse that was mentioned). Just hold the Control key on the keyboard and turn the mouse's scroll wheel. I use this a lot on my Mini connected to an HDTV.
I also have the size of the mouse pointer arrow increased twofold using the universal access controls.
In the Finder, you can set the Finder preferences so that file names are listed as 16 point type (and click on the set default button). Of course the menus and sidebars are still small and Apple really needs to start offering more versatile adjustments for these other interface areas (like, dare I say it… Windows allows for).
When web browsing, you can magnify the web page in question using the COMMAND key with the + key. You can zoom back again using COMMAND and - . I use that a lot. And yes this shortcut key combo works in both Safari and Firefox.
Lastly, make sure that the sharpness adjustment on your TV isn't turned up significantly, as this will hurt the legibility of type on the screen. The lower the sharpness is set, the more readable the text will be. You'll have to strike a balance that you're happy with between text sharpness and a satisfying sharpness for the video content you watch. On my sony tv, I have the sharpness set at about 25%.
I should also mention that the type on the screen being to small to read is a sign that your screen size to seating distance ratio is outside of the ideal range. In other words, you're sitting too far from your current TV, or you could stand to have a bigger TV for the room in question. To better understand viewing distance versus HD display size, read this:

  • Audio & video via HDMI to an external monitor with lid closed.

I would like to run a Macbook Pro Retina (2014) with the lid closed and all video and audio via HDMI routed to an external monitor (Samsung Syncmaster from 2010). Is this possible? When I try this, no sound is transferred to the external monitor and I cannot operate the Macbook Pro with the lid closed. As soon as I close the lid, it cuts the signal to the external screen.
I’ve tried looking for previous posts but they’re about MCP’s connecting via Thunderbolt or DVI. Any ideas?

Seems like there may be two separate questions here.   Audio working in either configuration   and video from HDMI when lid closed.  First, you are doing this with the Mac running off of AC, not battery, right?
    Audio:
Is the HCMI cable you are using able to carry the audio?  Some cables don't.
The only way I've ever used external displays with lid closed is with the thunder port (or DVI) adapter, not with the HDMI.  I see the specs from Apple:
    HDMI video output
Support for 1080p resolution at up to 60Hz
Support for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30Hz
Support for 4096-by-2160 resolution at 24Hz
So have you tried varying the screen res to determine the results?  I can find no specs regarding what ports remain operational in clamshell.   Like you, I would have assumed all of them.
I suspect only the thunderbolt port would support your desired config -- try a thunderbolt/hdmi adapter.
Finally, clamshell mode doesn't allow the MBP to cool efficiently.  Heat kills electronics, so if it's too warm or the fans really kick in, you might want to reconsider this setup.

  • MBP via HDMI to 24" monitor only runs the monitor not MBP display??

    I own a 2008 Macbook Pro 15" from 08.
Have used monitors in the past but none via HDMI.
Recently got an Asus VE247H 24" monitor.
Connectd via DVI or VGA it works with a terrible screen resolution but i can still use my MBP pro display as a second monitor.
When using HDMI the resolution is great at 1080P but i cannot use my MBP display as a second monitor.
When using HDMI to mini display port am i limited to just 1 monitor?

    Hello LittleFeatFan
It sounds like to me that your MAC Book Pro is cycling through trying to find a compatible video mode with the monitor. Please be advised that HP monitors are not designed with MAC computers in mind they are designed for computers running Microsoft Windows operating systems. The newer MAC computers run in what is called 'VESA' modes and will work on most HP Monitors. Try the following steps
    1. Turn off the MAC Book Pro.
    2. Connect the HP Monitor while the MAC Boot Pro is off.
    3. Turn on the MAC Book Pro.
    4. Set the monitor to run at 60 Hz.
I am also including a link to the driver page for your HP Monitor below. You will note there are no MAC O/S drivers available for this device.

  • No 5.1 via HDMI

I can get 5.1 out of the optical out of the appleTV but I only get stereo audio out of the HDMI. If I have a movie with 2 audio tracks: One with AC3 and one with AAC, the HDMI will play the AAC. If the movie only has an AC3 track it will not play any audio out of the HDMI. I've checked the intro movie on the appleTV as well and it plays in 5.1 thru the optical but only stereo thru HDMI. Any ideas as to solving my problem?

    Hi James,
I have the same problem and concluded that AppleTV does not stream 5.1 from HDMI, only optical. I recently posted to another topic and am cutting and pasting below:
    ==============
    Hi bkenney1,
While I've had my AppleTV for a few months now, I just recently started to play around with the 5.1 output settings. Here's what I found using my AppleTV connected to my Sony HT-SS2000 receiver:
    1. Dolby Digital is NOT present via the HDMI
    2. I only get Dolby Digital 5.1 via the optical output
    My setup is as follows:
    1. My AppleTV is connected to the Sony via HDMI (input port)
    2. My AppleTV's optical cable is connected to the Sony's input optical cable
    3. My 1080p TV is connected to the Sony via HDMI (output port)
On my receiver, I have the option of specifying where the audio should come from. When I select the AppleTV HDMI, I get no 5.1 sound, the best I get is Dolby Pro Logic II. When I set my receiver to use the optical cable as the audio input source, I immediately get 5.1 sound.
This is puzzling since HDMI should be able to carry the pass-through 5.1 stream to the receiver. I guess Apple isn't making 5.1 available via the HDMI port.
    ===================
While I am concluding that AppleTV does not stream 5.1 over the HDMI port, I can't be 100% certain. I will post to the general audience to see if anyone has any opinions.

  • Radeon 6850 poor image quality via hdmi

Hi have a  connected via HDMI cable to a Sony Bravia 32in 100hz LCD TV and the image quality is poor Windows appears really pixalated, have used this TV with on board graphics and image quality is great any ideas?

Still you should be able to bump the Res up with DVI to DVI if it has that port.  VGA PC to DVI TV will work 1080P.  Some manufacturer though do not allow DVI to do 1080p I read somewhere.  My LG 50" TV has every port I could think of DVI VGA RCA COAX HDMI probably more that I dont even know. It does 1080p with DVI but HDMI is easier with the sound.

  • My latest MacMini is unable to detect my Samsung monitor via HDMI direct connect.

    Hi
My MacMini (current model ie 1 week old) is unable to detect my Samsung monitor (it is about 6 months old and comes with HDMI port) via HDMI.
However, it is possible if I were to use the HDMI/DVI converter that comes with the MacMini.
FYI, I have tried swapping the HDMI cable but the result is still the same. I prefer to connect the the monitor directly to the MacMini without going thru the HDMI/DVI converter and appreciate any assistance.

Hi Mac80     I have been struggling for the past couple weeks since I purchased my Mac Mini (a few weeks back) to connect to the Samsung B2430 LCD monitor directly via HDMI-HDMI but to no avail i.e. "no connection detected"     Fyi HDMI-DVI works, but I just wanted the HDMI-HDMI instead.     I did exactly what you advised i.e. pull out the HDMI cable from the Mac Mini; power up & power down the Mac Mini; reconnect the HDMI cable to the Mac Mini; power up again... Wooa...lla... for some strange reason & though somewhat "primitive":-)  ... It works. It can now detect my monitor at 1080p. I just shut down and switch it on again to make sure that it is not a fluke, it works!     Fyi I just acquired another Samsung LED 27" monitor SA550 (same problem as above inititially but got it working via the above approach)     Thanks alot Mac80 and really appreciate it!     jJpecke
