K9N PLATINUM - DUAL MEMORY PROBLEM

Hello I have this pc:
K9N Platinum  (Bios Revision 1.0)
2*1GB Kingston 667mhz
AMD AM2 4200
When the 2 modules of ram are together in dimm0 @ dimm1 (not dual channel) I do not have any problem with my pc.
When the 2 modules of ram are together in dimm0 @ dimm2 (dual channel) the system crashes even before the windows xp boot or after a few minutes?  (Blue screen of death appears)
What should I have to do?
Thanks (sorry for bad english)

Hello!, i have almost the same problem, when i have my ram in slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. The computer act weird. I cant extract large files(4gig), and som other sh.it. The  i tested to run in singel channel mode (slot 1and2) then it all worked fine, i have uppgrade the bios to 1.3 and it still doesent work :( it seeems that not so much peolple are aware of this problem....

  • MSI K7N2 Delta2-FSR & Dual Memory Problems

Just recently I decided to upgrade my girlfriend's computer for her.  Upgrade new PROC, MOBO, MEM.  The proc is a AMD Athlon BARTON 3000+ OEM, Mobo is the MSI K7N2 Delta2-FSR  and MEM is from PQI both are dual channel and in same package (identical) 512MB x 2. I thought it was an easy set up and everything and everything in terms of hook-ups was...  I loaded XP and it gave me a crap load of errors, but I manage to load all of XP.  Then came installing Adobe softwares, it kept saying "installing...." in an infinte loop and then froze on me.  I skipped installing Adobe software and decided to install World of Warcraft Game.  When I loaded the game, it popped up with errors installing, but it managed to install.  WHen time to play the game; however, it kept crashing, restarting, and freezing.  I noticed the system was a little bit laggy even though there was 1 gig of ram.  So as a Geek Squad tech I am, I started to tweak and mess with it.  I figure it was the MEMORY and I tried it and thought it was bad memory...
Yes it was memory when I tested with MEMTEST86 for dual channel ram, It came up with RED ERRORS all across the screen.  So I decided to test each stick individually and each stick PASSED!  I even tried each of the different slots on the motherboard and it all passed as SINGLE individual rams.  I figure the first test with dual ram was just some mistake, loose RAM or something, so i decided to pop the DUALs right back in, in different combination and I kept seeing Red errors all over as well.
So my conclusion is :: Motherboard is bad.  I contacted NEWEGG, but they will not refund my money as it has been over 30 days.  I wish I would've known earlier... Anyways, So im stuck with exchanging for same mobo or find answers, but I think doing exchange will not do any good if this is a known problem.

Just to confirm; they are fine together in single channel, slot 1 and slot 2?  Dual channel is purple + green slot, i.e slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 3.  Or are you saying they can't work together in any combination of slots?
    there will be a label on side of your psu stating max amps to +3.3V, +5v and +12v rails, i.e +3.3v = ?A, +5v = ?A, +12v = ?A.  For example my psu is: Antec TrueBlue480: 30A/3.3V, 38A/5V, 28A/12V
Maybe your psu is not up to the job
You did load the chipset and graphics drivers didn't you?
You are correct sir... any combination of slots 1&3 or 2&3 will give error.... each as individuals 1,2,or3 will pass. The PSU amps readout are as follow:
    +5v 40a Red, +12V1 16A yellow, +3.3v 35A orange, +12v2 18a yellow/black, -5v 0.5a white, -12v 0.5a blue, +5vsb 2.5a purple, pg gray.
I have loaded the chipset drivers from the CD it came with, and the graphics drivers are from ATI.com latest version.  I will try and update the Nforce driver from Nvidia's site, but I don't see the chipset as the cause of this problem.
EDIT: In any combination of slots used, the read outof of MEMtest is single channel.  Only slots 2&3 will have a read out of DUAL DDR channel 128bits.  Slots 2&3 Will still have errors though...

  • K9N PLATINUM(NON SLI) DUAL CHANNEL MODE PROBLEM

    hi
put a new system together with the following specs:
    amd am2 3800+(2ghz)
    k9n platinum 1.20 bios
    2x512 kingston ddr2(667mhz)
pci video(yes not pci-e)have not decided which vid card to get yet.
    500w  psu 12v 35a,5v 25a,3.3v 25a
    liteon dvd burner
seagate 300gb ide  7200/16 meg cache windows xp-pro sp2 with all updates.
not overclocking or even trying to.
    no sata drives connected.
has never failed to post, boot windows and no lockups or blue screens.
ok,i am trying to get the memory to work in dual mode.
everytime i put the memory in the dual mode slots, the cpu clocks down to 1ghz instead of 2ghz.
    verified by bios,windows and cpu-id
    i have tried different memory(both ddr2 533 and 667)667 installed now.
also never had any install problems with windows and everything runs fine until i tried dual mode.
after the cpu clocks down to 1ghz,the only way to get it back to normal is a bios reset( load defaults
    or press red button).
if i leave the memory as single channel then i have no issues.
also cpu-id says the chipset for my board is nforce 550,i thought k9n platinum had 570 nforce chipset?
this might just be a problem with cpu-id though.
any thoughts on the cpu down clock problem in dual channel mode?
    thanks,jeff

1 assume you can get into BIOS with 1 stick only?
Go into the BIOS and manually set the timings and voltage to what your memory manufacturer recommends. Use a 2T command rate and see if it works.
Try both "sets" of dual channel slots, i.e. the two left slots or the two right slots.

  • K9n platinum memory

I just purchased a k9n platinum  motherboard.Does anyone have any suggestions on memory for this board? I was considering corsair twin 2x1024-5400c4 or  kingston khx5400d2/1g.Also I am not sure if i should go with dual channel or single {does it really make much of a difference with dual channel}If i go with the corsair memory can i still use the default settings in the bios. The k9n board supports 1.8v, the corsair uses 1.9v will I have to change bios setting for this ram. Thanks for your help

Quote from: Steyn on 07-November-06, 03:16:30
The board's default voltage is 1.9V. You can however set the DDR voltage from 1.8-2.45 Volt.
default voltages depend on the memory SPD defaults not on the mobo. so if the memory modules have a 1.8V SPD default, the BIOS will set the memory at 1.8V.

  • K9N Platinum Problem

    Hello,
I have a K9N Platinum 7250-020 and I read from a different forum to make a new thread about the shutdown issues since it said it wasn't affected. Funny thing is, I'm getting the same exact problem.
    My specs:
CPU: AM2 4200+ (2.4ghz, memory is not overclocked because of the odd multiplier)
Motherboard: K9N Platinum bios 1.2 (tried several of them and they are all buggy!)
    PSU: CoolerMaster iGreen series 500watt
    Memory: Crucial Ballistix 2gb ddr2 800
    Videocard: ATi x1950pro
    Soundcard: Creative Audigy Platinum
    Symptoms:
I will be listening to music thru winamp and then when I am installing a program it completely shuts off during the middle of installation.
I tried installing a game once from the cd-rom and then it immediately shuts down.
The funny thing of all of this, I never got a blue screen. So I know it can not be because of my Overclocking.
So thanks for reading, please repost if you have anything to report. I don't know when MSI will come out with bios 1.4 for this. I'm so angry...I do not know whether to return this or not. It would have to be through MSI..so yeah. Thanks again!

    Well...this is weird..
Yeah I tried underclocking the bus (now keep in mind I have a AM2, 4200+, and it has an odd multiplier of 11x. Because of this the bus has to compensate with the memory, running at ddr2 800, by running it slightly lower. So if I were to run the bus at 200 MHz, then the memory would be around 366mhz. Thus, that leaves me some head room of overclocking just the CPU since the ram is specified to run at 400mhz.). It didn't help. So since I was running bios version 1.10, I though, "hey..why not update." And so I did to the latest. To my surprise the update description includes: -Improve memory compatibility. Funny, huh?
With that said, I updated and had the settings to what they're specified from Crucial for latency. Then I overclocked to 218 MHz. Thus, resulting a speed about 399.2 MHz for the memory. And to this very moment that I have been running two instances of Prime95, it has yet to come up with a fatal error.
Now like you said, BOSSKILLER, I checked the cpu temperature (with bios version 1.10) and it said like around 40C. Although, once I flashed to the latest version (with it being stable using via Prime95), now the cpu temp in the bios says something around -42C. And it gets better. Since I'm using 64 bit, MSI doesn't have their core center working for 64 bit (to my knowledge). So I decided to see what Everest Ultimate ed. would say. And here is the kicker. It gives a more logical reading for the CPU temp...+39C!
So yeah...lol.... It is working fine and dandy right now! But ehh...in the bios the auto-fan control wont work because the bios sees the cpu temp being negative and so the fan control wont adjust to it.
Anyway, thanks for helping me out again, BK!  It's real nice having someone well...I don't know how to say exactly, but its just nice having someone to go to about my problems!
    Thanks again!!!
P.S. Sorry about the long essay!  :D

  • K9N Platinum Motherboard problem???

Hello. I got a K9N-Platinum motherboard and AM2 X2 4600+ CPU. However, I often got the following problem:
My system sometimes froze, no response at all, couldn't use mouse and keyboard of course.
    1) I set up the system to shut down monitor after 60 minutes. However, sometimes the system couldn't
recover, all parts stopped working, including hard disks.
    2) When the hard disk is transferring, such phenomenon could happen again.
Finally I found a solution. I had to manually set up the CPU voltage to "1.35V" in BIOS which can resolve my problem completely.
This problem only happened when the cpu voltage was set to "auto".
I thought it was a power management problem, so I installed hotfix KB896256 and KB924441 and all dual-core
cpu optimizers, the problem still existed.
    My system is as follows:
    K9N Platinum with BIOS 1.6 (601-7250-070********)
    AM2 X2 4600+
    Geil DDR2 800 1G*2
    Inno3D 7900GS
    Western Digital Raptor 37G
    Liteon 18X DVD burner
    500W PSU
I want to know whether this is a defect of my motherboard. Any advices would be appreciated.
    Thanks.mate.

Can understand the question "what CPU core do you have"?
    I have the AM2 dual core 4600+ CPU,Windsor core, 89W watt.
yep that i have asked, well there is nothing to worry about voltage applied manually matched with your default CPU vcore.

  • Neo 2 Platinum Memory Problem

    Hi There,
    i have here two PQI DDR400 PC3200 512MB dual-sided, one crusial DDR400 PC3200 512MB one-sided and one crusial DDR400 PC3200 1024MB dual-sided.
    Here's the problem:
When i install all the four modules my computer wont bootup it will only give one long beep inducating that there is a memory problem. All four modules where tested separetly with no problems. I have now only the two crusial modules on my Neo 2 Platinum running with no problems.
Can some one help me so i can use all four modules please???????

Assuming they will all work together, it sounds like the BIOS isn't set up properly, or the board isn't detecting the speed correctly. When installing more than 2 dimms, most boards, due to the memory controller on the CPU, will set the RAM to the 166 divider, or DDR333. Generally it will also set them to the 2T command rate.
If you have a Winchester core you will more than likely need to run DDR333 with the 2T setting. On a Venice you may be able to get away with DDR400...I know on an Opteron you can do DDR400 with the 2T command rate easy enough...I will assume it is probably the same with the newer cores as well.
Again, IF they all work together (mixing and matching dimms may not always work), you may just need to set the BIOS up properly. Pop in the sticks that work, go into the BIOS and set the RAM to the 166 divider, and then make sure the command rate is on 2T. Be sure all the RAM can run the timings that are set in the BIOS. Save and exit. Then power down and unplug the PC, pop in the other stick and see what happens.
If that doesn't work, you can try different slots, or an even a lower RAM divider (probably won't make a difference). IMO, if all the settings are correct and it still won't work, I would guess that mixing the RAM is the problem. I have seen it happen - I have also had weird RAM configs work perfectly, so it is kind of hit or miss...I hope some of that helps, good luck.

  • K9N Platinum onboard ethernet resource problem

I am having a problem getting my onboard ethernet to work on the MSI K9N Platinum motherboard.
The device manager is giving me Error Code 12 which stands for Not enough available resources.
I have tried everything short of reinstalling Windows to get this resolved.  This is a fresh windows install.  Right after the install I installed the chipset drivers.  Since then I have reinstalled the drivers, disabled anything that I am not using in the device manager, and even disabled everything but the onboard lan and IDE controller in the bios.  Nothing has worked.
Does anybody know what I could do to get the onboard ethernet to work?
    Specs:
    AMD AM2 3800X2
    MSI K9N Platinum (non-SLI)
Old Nvidia PCI graphics card (X1800XT is not working)
Western Digital IDE 80 gig hard drive

Did you use the "Load Optimized Defaults" in cmos settings before win-install.
Sounds to me windows didn't install the correct HAL ,meaning you may have had wrong bios settings for ACPI & MPS.
This worked.  I just did a repair install of windows after loading optimized defaults in bios.  Thanks for the help.

  • K9n Platinum Won't Post!!! Memory Incompatible or Mobo failure???

Like so many others, I am having trouble with my K9N PLatinum.  When I turn the system on, everything powers on, CPU fan, case fans, leds.  It begins to post, no video, but the D bracket just hangs on (1, 3, 4, red and 2, green).  I have tried all of the usual troubleshooting.  Using just one stick of memory in each DIMM slot, reseating CPU, only having CPU/memory/video card plugged in.  I even went and bought some cheap RAM from a local retailer and the same thing, D bracket just hangs.  Taking out battery, resetting CMOS switch, etc.  This build has been very frustrating.  I have read there are BIOS updates, but have never updated bios before.  How would I do an update when the system won't even post?  PLEASE HELP!!!

    Richard
I got it to post and install windows on the Kingston valueram.  I did a live update via MSI's website to BIOS version 1.2.  But version 1.2 would still not post using my OCZ memory.  I wanted to try to flash the beta 1.31 bios, ut I am having difficulty flashing the beta 1.31 bios version ins DOS mode.  Has anyone else done this?  Also, when is MSI going to put the newest bios version up for Live Update.  That would make a lot of unsatisfied customers, happy.  I was about ready to return my board and go ASUS.  But I wanted to stick it out with MSI because I like you guys the best!  Any info on flashing bios would be great! When i builded the system , i installed Windows XP + Sp2 , made all windows updates
After i tryed to install the drivers a got wit the cd.
My system was very instable (i had no problem whit the motherboard i had before)
I made the install more than once , but still got instability
So i went to the nvidia site and downloaded the drivers for the chipset from there , and also made a bios update to v 1.2
    System went stable.
Tried again after the bios update with the original cd --> not stable , randomless reboot
so i'm now working with the nvidia drivers from the nvidia site , it's stable but when i go to bios i see that the CPU temp is -38°
Is it a fix for this or do i have a wrong mobo ????

    -38°C , seen that a few times now .
I think you should RMA/return the motherboard .
    Why , see:

Not the same board as yours but all have a faulty calibraded (non workin) sensor on their motherboards .
The positive thing though is that the boards with this issue that runs on AMI bios doesn't freeze/halt as the award based ones does.

  • Dual Channel memory problems on Neo 875P

I am having considerable trouble getting the NEO 875P to work with dual channel DDR400 DIMMs. I have two Kingston KVR400X64C25 DDR400 256MB memory modules, each of which works correctly by itself. However, once I move one
of the modules to channel B, I cannot boot my operating system (currently Windows XP.) The problem also occurs in Windows 2000, which I also have on the system. I receive blue screen errors that indicate paging/memory problems. I have upgraded my BIOS to the latest version (1.3)* in the hope that it would solve my problems, but it has not. The POST screen detects that there is 512MB of memory working in Dual Channel mode, but even when it does get through the O/S booting process (rarely), it crashes within minutes. Putting just one of the chips in makes the system perfectly stable. If anyone has any information, please let me know!
    Thanks,

    * My board was dead after trying to flash the 1.3 BIOS, but after about 10 attempts of using CTRL+HOME method to recover the BIOS, it finally worked with version 1.0. I then re-flashed with 1.3, and it rebooted fine. Are there any updates about all of the problems with v1.3 ?

    >I can only answer based on what I've read on this forum
I figured as much, I was just wondering if you knew whether MSI themselves frequents the forums or answers emails sufficiently.
I've had an interesting development though. I stumbled upon Tom's Hardware Guide's article about 875P motherboards at http://www17.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20030519/i875p-01.html
They mentioned that they needed to increase the memory voltage from 2.5 to 2.6 in the BIOS to get some memory modules to work. I did this, and for the first time, I am running in Dual channel DDR mode. However, the article also mentions that "the system does not run completely stably", so I guess I'll have to wait and see if it crashes again. However, I'm far enough beyond the XP splash screen to post this message, so I guess we're getting somewhere!

  • Memory and dual channel problems

    Hi
    Can someone help me?
1- I have 2x512 MB DDR 400 Twinmos CL 2.5 and amd xp 2600 (fsb 333) and Msi K7n2 delta L. I have tested separatly my sticks, one of them woks great, if i put dram clock at 166 or 200 the sytem is always stable. The other stick is not so great , if i put him at 200, most of times the sytem doesn´t boot and the lights  in the d-bracket display memory problems, when it manages to boot, when i get to windows i´m always getting blue screens with error messages. If i put to 166 it´s more stable, but sometimes hapens the same, but less frequently.
I have run memtest, but it shows no errors in  both sticks.
2- When i use both sticks together in dual channel dimm 1 & dimm 3 sometimes windows only displays 512 MB, but if i reboot the sytem, i get 1 GB as it should be.
It is not frequently, but sometimes it hapens.
3- How can i detect dual ddr is working or not?
I´m asking this becouse the two sticks i have are similar, but there is a little diference, one of them has twinmos chips and the other has M.tec chips. But both are from Twinmos.  Sisoftware sandra shows them as equal.
I have heard that this mobo, on the boot screen should display something like this:
    Memory Mode: Dual Channel
    or
    Memory Mode: Single Channel
But in the boot screen it only says DDR 400 or DDR 333 acording to the setings i have put in the bios.
My bios version is 5.1 (4/18/2003). Do you think i need to flash the bios?

Try increasing your DDR Voltage by 0.1v and see if it helps with system stability.
You can also check if the speed of the RAMs are properly detected in BIOS and if the latencies are reported correctly.

  • K9N Platinum Sli trouble

so i have assembled my new system:
    Athlon 64 x2 AM2 4200+
    Zalman CNPS9500
    K9N Platinum Sli
OCZ DDR2 PC2-5400 667MHz EL Gold Edition 2GB Dual Channel Kit
XFX Geforce 7600GT 256mb XXX edition (another one will be added today for SLI)
a SATA drive and a DVD burner (these arent important for the issue)
temps = idle 30-34 c, load - no idea havent checked that yet
    Enermax Liberty 400w PSU
ever since ive assembled the system i ran into some strange thing - during the changing of setting in the BIOS it froze a few times.
Neverthless i was able to run the system, install windows, start to install other software (yesterday)
and today when i turned on the system, windows booted up, and sudenly it restarts and freezes up in pre bios stage...
Reset or Shutdown resulted in power up, but nothing happening, the monitor did even got out of standby...
after a few tries, and about ten minutes without power, it started up and went to a bios stage, giving a CMOS Bad Checksum Error... loaded bios with fail-safe settings, system worked fine and booted up windows... windows worked fine aswell, attempt to reboot and change the bios settings, gave a Bad Checksum from start and a freeze in bios. System is not getting to bios stage once again...
A Mobo problem that warrants a vist to the store, to return it?

oh and the PSU got two +12v rails with 20a on each, should be enough?... (though Enermax seems to have troubles with math since according to them 20a+20a=30a)
trust me, enermax doesn't have problems with math. this is actually how it works. you cannot just add up the 12v rails to get the max amps on the 12v.

managed to boot with the suspected mem stick - running memtest-86 - counted 746321 errors and then froze.... looks like the stick IS defective
try to increase the memory voltage a bit. i think you should be safe up to 2.1V. if you still get errors in memtest, then you have a faulty memory module.

  • K9N Platinum and Corsair CM2X1024-6400 **UPDATE - FIXED**

I'm trying to help a friend with their new K9N Platinum motherboard.  We got everything installed successfully, but after getting into Windows, the machine will just freeze up randomly doing anything, software install, whatever, within a minute, or sometimes as long as 5 or more minutes.
    Basic specs:
    K9N Platinum motherboard
    Flashed to BIOS version 1.4
    AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ (65W) socket AM2
    BFG Geforce 7900GS
    500W PCI-E power supply
Wester Digital 120GB 7200rpm SATA HD 8MB cache
    Single 1GB stick of Corsair CM2X1024-6400 RAM (DDR2 800MHz) - Brand New - DIMM slot 1
Windows XP Professional with SP2 and all windows updates installed. (using IE6)
Installed all latest drivers from MSI's website for this board.
We tried 1st with DRAM timings on auto, then tried to set the timing manually according to Corsair's spec sheet for this module, including memory voltage at 1.9V.
We think it might be a bad memory module, because after getting into Windows, we run memtest, and errors are detected within the 1st minute.  We have RMA'd the RAM module.  I'm wondering though if we just didn't have the timing for the memory set correctly in the BIOS.
Is anyone here runnning this exact memory successfully, or is this board incompatible with this Corsair module?  If you are running successfully, did you have to change the SPD timings manually, or are you running using the SPD Auto setting?
If you had to use manual setting, any help with the values to set in DRAM Timing would be greatly appreciated.  As much detail as you can provide would be great.  Thanks for your help.

Ok, still having major problem with running world of warcraft.  This PC freezes/locks up in the game every single time within 5-10 minutes of play no matter what we've tried so far.  This is not a shutdown or restart problem, just a freeze/lock-up symptom.  I'm getting a bit frustrated at this point.  No other problems in windows are encountered.  We can work in windows with any other application, like adobe photoshop or any other software, with zero trouble.  I'm beginning to think this is video card related somehow with this 7900 GS card.
    For added info, the video card being used is this;
    BFG Tech BFGR79256GSOCE GeForce 7900GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
    Chipset Manufacturer NVIDIA
    GPU GeForce 7900GS
    Core clock 525MHz(vs. 450MHz standard)
    PixelPipelines 20
    Memory Clock 1320MHz
    Memory Size 256MB
    Memory Interface 256-bit
    Memory Type GDDR3
    3D API
    DirectX DirectX 9
    OpenGL OpenGL 2.0
    Ports - DVI 2
The mouse used is a logitech USB track ball mouse if that has any bearing on anything.  No mouse troubles though, just thought I'd mention it.
    Here's what we've tried so far;
Updated to BIOS version 1.4.  This was done after the Windows XP install though, so not sure if something is hosed up here.
    1) We set the RAM timings to 5-5-5-12-2T and 2.1Volts in BIOS manually, as per direct recommendation from Corsair.
1a) Ran memtest all night for about 9 hours straight and no errors at all detected.  So I'm guessing this isn't a RAM problem really, but who knows .
    2) Installed the Windows XP SP2 Hotfix for Dual Core Processors - hotfix KB896256
    3) Installed the AMD Dual Core Optimizer from here -->http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html
    4) Updated the Nvidia system drivers with the nForce 550/570/570/590 SLI (C51+MCP55) driver package 9.19 WHQL from MSI's website here--> http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=730&kind=1
    5) Currently running Nvidia video driver version --> ForceWare Release 90 Version: 93.71 Release Date: November 2, 2006 WHQL Certified.
    6) Ran a complete Direct X diagnostics via dxdiag.  All tests passed successfully.
    7) Tried to install the AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) 1.3.2.16 from here -->http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html
But it would NOT install because it says I have to first uninstall the current driver via add/remove programs, but it's not listed there, before installing this one.  So, I have no idea where to look or how to do this, I'm afraid of messing up the processor driver.  Can someone explain how to install this driver, and would not having this installed possibly be a potential cause of the game lock-ups?
I don't know what else to do.  Could the version 9.19 Nvidia SATA or IDE drivers I installed be causing these game lock-up problems?  If so, do I just go into device manager and just rollback drivers for all of the devices listed under the "IDE/ATA ATAPI Controllers" in device manager?
Again, this was a fresh windows XP Pro install on a newly formatted hard drive.  Obviously something is fubar, but I'm running out of things to try.  Maybe going into BIOS and "load optimized defaults" and start over?
Lastly, the tech specs on newegg.com for this video card say "A 350W PCI Express compliant system power supply (with 12V current rating of 22A or more)" is needed.  Since the 500W power supply we're using has 2 separate 12V rails rated at 20A each, could this be the problem??  I'm open to suggestions.  Thank you.
