K9N2 Sli Platinum after thought

HI and new to the forums.
This is what I have

Just installed basic on the board and booted, everything was going fine then i installed the vid card, and when I did, i didn't hook up both pci express power cords to the card and i started up and got a message not sure of exactlly what it said but came to the effect of not enough power to card and had to shut down so damage wouldn't be done to the motherboard, so i clicked ok and shut down, removed the card off the board and then turned system back on and wouldn't boot, stuck on MSI screen, go to post and wouldn't do anything. I did research, and tried booting with 1 stick of memory and got it to do that a few times, then it went back to not starting. So i thiough maybe the memory was bad, went out to fry's real quick bought 2 gigs of Ballistix memory 1066 speed and still nothing. Talked with MSI tech support was told to flash bios,wasn't on the current version, clear the cmos, did all that maybe got it 2 start 1 more time then nothing. Now i've RMA'd the board and memory and waiting on new, is there something I did wrong? Thanks for any replies

Problem is in the PSU or in the VGA, not in RAM or in the mainboard.

Dead k9n2 SLI Platinum after playing a game for 5 minutes

I purchased the k9n2 sli platinum, installed it with AMD athlon x2 6400+, 4gb Corsair gaming memory, an 8800gts(g92) gpu, and a zalman 750 watt psu.
The first motherboard died on me when I was playing GRID. So naturally I tried to start it back up, but instead it did nothing. The only thing that happens is a flicker of the blue pci led's and an attempt to power on followed by an instant shutoff. This all takes place in about 2 hundredths of a second.
As I try to diagnose the problem I naturally begin to remove things. It wasn't until I removed the dedicated cpu power (8-pin) until I got any different reaction from the board. Once that was removed, the board powers on, however the bios will not post because the CPU can't function without that power. I even removed the graphics card, memory, and cpu before I got to this step.
Just yesterday I received the second motherboard to replace this one (same exact model and version k9nw 1.2) and after running for 15 minutes, I opened up my game (GRID) and about 5 minutes into playing the game THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENS! The board is completely dead, same issue and absolutely no answers.
I tried contacting MSI's tech support but got no answer so I turned to this forum.
I have a good amount of experience building and working with computers so i know that both boards were properly installed.
My question is this, why does MSI market a gaming motherboard that blows when I am playing GRID? I have been a loyal MSI customer for the last 6 years, so I am very disheartened by the performance of this board and the lack of customer service.

K9N2 SLI Platinum raid setup after bios flash

Hi
I'm building a new system based on K9N2 SLI Platinum. Apart from a new 80 GB sys. HDD everything else is reuse from another MB (MSI K9N Platinum).
Here is what is puzling me: Before trying to install WinXP i flashed the bios to 3.2 because of the included updates to the raid bios. Flashing went well, however in my setup I want the 80 GB HDD to be non-raid and the two 320 GB HDD to be raid1. I've set this up in bios so that only channel 5 and 6 is enabled for raid and would expect that the 80 GB HDD (channel 1) would show up as a normal sata HDD when starting up. But it doesn't - it is listed as 0.0 xxxx after the "press F10 to enter raid setup" message?
This is strange because I had the same HDD setup on my old MSI K9N Platinum and there the 80 GB sata HDD was shown as a "normal" disk and not as a "appendix" to the raid list.
Because of this I have problems installing WinXP on the 80 GB HDD
Any suggestions?

Unfortunately this didn't help. As soon as I installed the Windows nVidia RAID SW it prompted med that it had registered the 80 GB disk as a new disk that wasn't a member of any RAID. This happened everytime Windows XP was started.
The trick was to add the 80 GB disk as a Spanned disk using the nVidia RAID BIOS setup utility. Install Windows XP (again) and the Windows nVidia RAID SW and setup RAID 1 on the other two sata disk.
I don't think this is a great setup but it works. I hope that MSI will fix this issue in a later BIOS upgrade. It would be nice if the enabled/disabled for sata RAID setting actually worked.

K9N2 SLI Platinum nForce 750a AM2+ Windows will not start after loading drivers

Unit started and ran fine after initial Windows XP load.
After loading NVIDIA drivers (supplied with motherboard) unit boots up, shows Windows splash screen, but then screen goes black. Unit continues to run with black screen.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I started Windows in Safe Mode and uninstalled the NVIDIA video drivers. Windows start up fine now, but I still need to work on getting the correct video drivers installed. I'll post my results later.

K9N2 Sli Platinum + SSD OCZ Vertex 3 = Slow Speed Problem [PARTIALLY SOLVED]

I have a problem with my new SSD. I only get sequential reads of 140MB/s and writes of 114MB/s.
I think it is a driver related issue. I once got faster SATA2-like speeds but cannot reproduce the system settings again... Everything back to SATA1-like speeds after reboot.
First my pc specs:
MSI K9N2 Sli Platinum, BIOS v3.9
- 6 SATAII ports by nForce 750a SLI
- 2 ESATA (External-SATA) ports (back panel) by JMB363
- Supports storage and data transfers at up to 3 Gb/s
AMD Phenom II 965 Black
Patriot PV224G8500ELKB Viper II Series DDR2 4GB (2 x 2GB, CL5 PC-8500/1066MHz)
SSD SATAIII OCZ Vertex 3, 120GB, FW v2.11

I only get very slow speeds with the SSD. I tried so many things that I am getting very frustrated now, I am even thinking about getting a new board and ram just to get the SSD up to speed...
1)
I installed Win7 first with all the default settings in Windows Setup from DVD. Default "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" driver was "Standard AHCI1.0 Serial ATA Controller".
SSD was connected to SATA1-port, On-Chip Sata Controller AHCI enabled in BIOS, Extra RAID/IDE Controller disabled.
All fine, but whichever benchmark I used (AS SSD, HD Tune Pro, Atto Disk Benchmark, CrystalDiskMark; other tools used: DriveControllerInfo, AIDA64/Everest, CrystalDiskInfo ) I got e.g. 140MB/s Read and 114MB/s Write sequentially (CrystalDiskmark, similar with random data AND only zeros ).
Trim working (it seems) with AHCI driver. I also changed to nvstor64 driver (nforce driver setup 15.56), with is marginally faster but not what you would expect from a SATAIII drive on SATAII controller.
2)
I installed Win7 using "diskpart" (Shift-F10) during disk setup, setting a cluster size of 64k instead of default. No real change.
3)
After reinstall of Win7 x64 (again...), I changed from SATA1 port to SATA6 port, also enabled Extra Raid/IDE controller set to AHCI as well.
Nothing changed. With all settings to default in Windows (ahci default driver), I then manually updated the ahci to nvstore64 driver in Device Management, rebooted.
Then a minute later after reboot I got the following Sequential speeds with CrystalDiskMark:
273MB/s read and 137MB/s write (random data) + 274MB/s read and 220MB/s write (with zeros) !!!
While I ran this benchmark Windows came up with a message: "You must restart your computer to apply these changes - Restart Now/Restart Later".
After the previos reboot, when I changed manually from AHCI to NVSTORE, I had changed nothing in the current session, apart from running CrystalDiskMark.
I did reboot and I was back to the slow SSD speeds again = 140/114 MB/s...
4)
I have tried every possible combination of mainboard SATA ports, drivers changing with nvidia setup/manually, deleting and disabling controllers (incl BSOD and startup repair :D ), chaning bios settings around, but I just cannot get back the faster speeds
There is never any change in speed, whether I use ahci or nvstore64, whichever benchmark I use, whether random or zeros...
5)
Could the SSD be broken, something internally preventing it from faster speeds (with this one random exception)?
Could it be that my K9N2 SataPorts only allows for / reduced to SATA1 speeds?
Am I missing something with the driver setup?
Do I need additional drivers for the extra JMicron Controller when using SataPorts 5/6 ?
I have no other mainboard to test this with...
Please guys, I am going to jump out of the window if I can't fix it... :(

Hey guys - problem 'solved':
I tested the OCZ SSD Vertex 3 120GB with following sata3 controller card http://www.lycom.com.tw/PE-115H.htm.
The card itself works immediately (needs at least PCIe x4 slot, will work slower otherwise but still faster than the OCZ SSD @sata1 with nvidia chipset).
There is some raid setup, doesn't apply to me, the boot even with the card is really only a few seconds longer and not annoying at all. Windows (7 x64) needed a driver, supplied on CD (which is cheap and making noise like h**l). The card works w/o the driver but doesn't harm to install it...
Also, just to clarify, this sata controller card did not need any specific setup at all. Just put it in, plug in sata cable (I use akasa sata3-rated), maybe change boot device in BIOS (I didn't even have to), done - booting Windows as usual.

Final thoughts:
Well, I am happy with the SSD speed now (PCIe limited to 5Gbps). However, I had to spent quite some time to get it working on my sata2-cabable mainboard. Finally, I had to buy a extra controller card to get it working reliably at speeds faster than sata1. There is hardly any useful information on why this problem occurs with (older) nvidia chipsets and OCZ (sata3) SSDs. I still think that OCZ must know about this problem, but regards this issue as low priority, while at the same time not planning on giving up on sales to people with nvidia chipsets. Maybe OCZ should just make a big sticker on the box the drives come in with something like "Does/Might not work with nvidia chipsets, please use third-party sata controller card or different SSD manufacturer". But then none of these potential customers would buy OCZ SSDs...
I will keep the sata3 controller, anyway handy to have, but return the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB and replace it with a SSD from a different manufacturer (Corsair Force GT, Patriot and OWC are not that great to get around here). The benchmarks for most people will not achieve the maximum advertised OCZ speeds anyway, so why not go with a brand that allows for some plug'n'play with some customer support.

K9N2 Sli Platinum - won't boot? Can't figure out problem.

Hey guys. My computer practically crapped itself the other day, and there were so many symptoms I'm not quite sure
what to even search for.
I've had this computer for about a year now. no problems since the day i built it.
specs:
Msi K9n2 Sli Platinum mobo
AMD Athlon 64x2 3.2 Ghz
2x BFG Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+
2x Cosair xms2 2gb ddr2
1000 watt BFG EX Series
Sony DvD drive
1tb western digital drive
So i was playing SC2 and my computer froze. So i restarted and it hung during windows loading.
I turned it off waited a few seconds and started... still hung. Cycled it and tried a couple more times.
Still nothing. Naturally i assumed it was a virus so i repaired my windows installation. After it finished it hung on
Windows has finished repairing your computer will now restart. I waited about an hour and decided to just restart
myself. Next time it booted asked me if i wanted to boot from cd and then it just shutdown like i pulled the plug.
Then i thought well i ruined my windows install. I tried booting again it did the same thing. So i just said screw it
ill reformat. But this time there was no signal from my graphics card. When i turn the computer on it will normally
be loud and then get quiet after everything has booted. But now it just turns on and stays loud because i suspect
it's still booting. So i took everything apart. Tried connecting and unconnecting everything. moving ram etc...
Ive got it to boot twice but after that it crashes before windows loads like a plug pull and it wont boot again.
I cant tell whats wrong it could be everything but nothing makes sense. I've built about 7 or 8 computers.
gotten rid of several viruses and bad hardware but I've never seen anything like this.
I tried checking the LED codes for the board. Leds 11 and 10 and 9 and 8 alternate red and green which means HDD and floppy drive are trying to boot.
but it does that even when my harddrive is not connected and it still wont show video. Ive even rotated the graphics cards and tried a 7900gs. nothing.
Edit: now led 6 and 7 are red.

Yeah the case i have is the antec 1200. Never had a problem with heat before.
Ive tried it with just the ram and the cpu and it still gives me the lights so i
guess it must be the mobo or processor. I don't have another motherboard to test everything else on
all my other pcs are 5 to 7 years old.

Need some advise - MSI K9N2 Sli Platinum

Hello. I have some strange behavior of the system since the last week. Processor´s fan speeds up and down. Usualy is 3400-3600rpm; now speeds up to 5400-5600rpm and stay accelerate for a good while. I thought it could be some dust; yesterday I made a general cleaning of the hardware and also replaced the Thermaltake fan with another one which I have for replacement. The heatsink is firm, deos not have movements. The thermal grase is OCZ Freeze etc, something good, seems to be hardened because heatsink stay firm. This was assembled some 16 month ago.
I started again the PC, slow down the processor´s speed from OC 3.2Ghz to the basic 2.8 Ghz and the problem still go on. I thought this could be come system drivers problem, some sensor related. Then, I download the sys driver 15.49_nforce_winvista_win7_64bit_intern ational_whql from nVidia site and install it. Nothing, the problem is the same.

The readings of Temperatures the TMPIN0 and TMPIN1, north and south bridge are ok. The TMPIN2 127°C is a dead sensor, it allways was like that from the beginning. Don´t pay attention to it.
I´m really worried that thomething bad could happen and I have not a replacement for this mobo now.
Could be some bad or crazy sensor which send some erroneous signal and that´s could be the origin of this situation?
Does it exist the possibility the mobo get fried?

I'm confused. You say to ignore the 127° reading, but then state you are concerned and talk about a false reading. What reading and what exactly are you concerned with, the CPU temps? If your system were getting that hot(127°C), you'd shut down or blow something. I'm sure it's a false reading.
If you wish to remove the heatsink, get something like Artic Silver 5 so you have a different paste to use. Then, boot to the bios and leave it there for 15 minutes and shut down(you can simply hit the power off button this way). Immediately, after shutdown, removing the power cord and pushing the power on button several times to drain the capacitors, try and remove the Heatsink carefully with some slight wiggle back and forth motion. Hopefully, the heating of the TIM will make it pliable enough for easier removal. DO NOT USE FORCE.

K9N2 SLI Platinum - Testing

Ok so since I built this PC in February I have tested it with Windows XP SP3 Pro and Windows 7 Beta. Only issues I've had is with the HD Audio from Realtek. I read posts here about people having problems with their K9N2 SLI Platinum boards and maybe you're trying too hard.
My system specs are below, my PSU from Ultra is the 2nd Ultra PSU that I have owned, the first generation X-Connect 500W I had lasted from February 2005 to February 2009 and probably still has 5-10 years left on it. I upgraded to the 3rd Generation X-Connect 600W PSU, it's sufficient for single graphics card and powers everything just fine. Modular to keep airflow awesome.
I would only trust these PSU manufacturers:
Ultra
Corsair
Thermaltake
Enermax
Antec
I have only good reviews for Ultra and Enermax since I've owned them and they have never failed.
Back to the motherboard though, so my findings is that Windows XP Pro SP3 still has a few issues with this motherboard, mostly due to audio drivers, but not MSI's fault. Windows 7 Beta runs like a top, absolutely will be buying Windows 7 when it becomes available.
I had a red LED on my board for the longest time, then I figured out the issue, no floppy drive installed, after turning off the FDD controller, the red light went away.
CPU Idle Temps 23C with an Ambient Temp of about 70F, Load 30-32C same ambient temp. Stock HSF, 5 Case fans, no thermal compound, and excellent cable management.
Basically I completely love this board, but Realtek needs some better drivers for Windows XP.
I think I will be testing OpenSUSE on this after Windows 7 beta expires.
For those having troubles with this board I really don't know what to say, maybe try paying for the name when you buy PSU, Memory, Video. I went with Ultra, Corsair, and MSI and I did my research and I actually read many bad reviews of this board and still bought it. 2nd MSI board I've owned, love them both.
Anyway, thought I'd write something positive here, instead of seeing all the negativity towards MSI.

Random Lockups K9N2 SLI Platinum

Hey guys, Ive been dealing with a very annoying issue with a random Windows lockup, when I mean lockup its a press the reset button lockup. At first I thought it was a faulty Hard Drive, I replaced that with a Fresh reload of Windows 7 64 Bit. This issue has been going on for a few months, even before the Hard Drive going bad.. Some days/weeks I can play games without a problem, the lockups only occur within the first 5 to 10 minutes of playing, If I make it past that I am good to go.. In the last week I ran Memtest86 v4.0 and 3dMark Vantage, I got no errors or lockup's on either test.
Right after I ran the 3dMark Test I checked the temp in the bios here is what I found CPU Temp 111 F and System Temp 84 F, Im sure this is higher when Im gaming
I have been also getting this error in the event viewer on a lockup:

Here is my PC build, Ive been thinking about getting a new case that vents the heat from the top, I think this case I have is storing a lot of heat, the case itself gets very hot while playing games, I have 4 120mm fans running to. I was orginally running SLI with the 9800GT, I rebooted one day and one of the cards went, I sent both back to PNY and got 2 new ones but only put one back in since the heat was just to bad, I have a spare card now.

Im pretty good for keeping drivers updated, to double check I downloaded the Nvidia tool to check for updated drivers, says everything is up to date.. I havent updated the bios, Ive done it in the past on other machines and Im always a little scared to do it

500 GB slow ass HDD (Again the marketing dept of this brand were out to lunch when they launched it)
Windows 7 RC. latest build
Nvidia Det's 190.xxx latest driver
mostly playing Fallout 3 (graphics are beautiful but notice the CPU is lagging behind now)
So to the Crux of my issues :-
I'm looking to upgrade a few things here though,
as you can see a few components are severely bottlenecking performance.
First off the RAM.
going to get some nice Kingston 1066 DDR2 (4GB or should I go for 8GB ?)
next .. a WD VelociRaptor 10k rpm HDD probably just a small 74GB or the 150GB drive
and finally the pies de resistance ( yes PIES ! .. I like PIES !!) shiny new AMD Phenom 965 CPU
SO... Will the 965 phenom work in this board ? I've logged on tech support but no answer,
latest BIOS is installed already 7374v35 i think.
I know it's a 140W CPU so okay there,
the Socket AM2+/AM3 is good
.. I just NEED to be sure before spending £200.00
if not .. is it worth getting the 945 or 955 BE and clocking them ... could the board handle clocking the 965 ??
and last of all, if any one has any opinions on the build .. let me know... have you built a similar rig ?

looking into Power requirements
9800GTX+ SLI requires a min 550w PSU .. and so far in top gaming and 3D benchs hasn't gone over 250w on the meter ( pretty good I think)
the Zalman CNPS9700 LED seems to keep everything cool without any power to the fan... but I leave power on low just for the pretty blue lights
I'm happy to listen to any advice though,
One thing I will need is any pointers you can give on the K9N2 built in OC facility in the BIOS .. is it any good .. can I TRUST it to not fry my CPU by running it on auto ? is there any recommended settings ? etc. your thoughts and experiences welcomed

Strange K9N2 SLi Platinum issue getting progressively worse

I put together my system (http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=628222) in April of '09 and everything has been rock solid. About 3 weeks ago, I started seeing strange graphical glitches, which can only be remedied by a system reboot. See below:
Initially, I thought that the issue may have been software related, as I could screenshot the problem, and noticed that the problem would occur only after waking from sleep mode, and only while playing fullscreen games. Before assuming anything, I ran diagnostics and checked my temps, all of which were in spec, so I decided, maybe I had lost my primary video card. I tried each of my SLi cards independently with the same result. I've also tried using each PCI-E slot with similar results.
I moved on to test memory with Memtest86, which would lockup @ 5% through its first test. So I started sequentially removing RAM sticks until it ran. After pulling out two sticks of ram, I thought I had nailed down the issue, things were stable again, but the system would periodically not POST, no VGA, nothing. Diagnostic LEDs would be RED|GREEN|GREEN|GREEN but would boot normally after a power cycle.
After a couple days of stability, the video glitches came back. At this point, I'm thinking it could be the Mobo itself. Upon boot my LED Diags go RED|GREEN|RED|GREEN and don't change. The system is failing to POST most of the time, and when it does boot, just completely dies under any stress whatsoever.
Obviously, I would imagine, it could be a power issue, but I have a solid PCP&C Silencer 750 which I would find hard to believe is causing the issue. I could test voltages, but I'm doubtful this is the issue.
Any thoughts on what I might try next?

With all four memory sticks installed drop memory divider to 667.
[current in use is default 800, you can do that from BIOS Setup,
Cell Menu adjust option named "FSB/DRAM Ratio", apply to either "333", "667", "1:1.67", "5/3" {all mean the same}]
The CPU's [AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+ ADV60000DOBOX] memory controller, can't handle them at full speed.

Other tips:
* Test each one memory stick alone with >>Memtest86<<,
use the 1st DIMM close to CPU socket to isolate if you have an defective stick.
* You can apply memory voltage in BIOS Setup recommended by memory vendor if need[2.0 - 2.1V, check specifications at memory vendor for your sticks]

Not sure if this is the right forum for this but here goes...
I Just recently bought and put together a kit yesterday and i must say ive had a heck of a time trying to get it stable. it constantly hang on boot and i thought it was the mobo but decided to investigate further just to be sure. So i systematically disconnect everything and installed items one by one. first, mobo - cpu only - reboot - , then added one ram - reboot -, then video card and monitor - reboot -, each time always listening to any beep patterns. added mouse keyboard - reboot -, then check cmos disabled internal graphic to prevent conflict with pcie card. at this point i left it running for 2 hours browsing around net, playing videos, updating and installing software, at this point there were no hiccups so i shutdown and restarted the computer several times...so far so good...so i decided to install another stick of ram and rebooted....system hang on boot....hmmm. removed the extra stick and the system was back to being stable. I realized now at this point that its not the mobo. After reading the trouble you went through and it turned out to be your PSU, Perhaps that might be my issue too.

currently my system is running stable with 1 stick of Ram and 1 Graphic Card but i would like to use all of them (Linux support for SLI is spotty last i heard but it might have changed). If anyone here got suggestion i could try before i splurged more dough for a bigger PSU let me know. Else, ill go ahead and let you know how it turn out.

Well, look like my problem may have been solved. Fredrik got me wondering too whether one of the RAM might be faulty. I cycled my Ram sticks by installing them into the motherboard one at a time then rebooting. The third stick that i put wont POST but all the other three does. So i installed all three good sticks back and the computer booted just find. Also, I found out how to change the Voltage in the BIOS by simply pressing + or - keys (perhaps would have helped if I read the BIOS help file earlier DUH...). As suggested by Bas, (and for insurance, just in case stick need more juice) I set the voltage to 2.05v although sticks runs find at default of 1.95v (BIOS voltage setting has a MIN = 1.95v MAX = 2.40v). Its in the safe setting range so hopefully they dont overheat. Apart from the voltage and the 2T, All others are put back to AUTO.
Anyways, Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it, I would not have been able to solve this on my own.

K9N2 SLI Platinum S3 issues

Ok, so I have been trying to solve this problem every which way.
I cannot resume from S3 sleep/Stand By/Suspend in Vista sp1 or XP sp2.
When I wake up the system, the lights are on but nobody's home. Also, group 1-4 of the status LEDs are red. I've seen a similar post, but no solutions. I have tried just about everything I could think of as far as BIOS settings and drivers to no avail. I have even physically removed all hardware but mobo, PSU, and RAM. S1 works fine.

CPU: 9850 Black
RAM: OCZ PC2-8500
PSU: TruePower Quattro 850
Video: XFX 8800 GT
HDD: sata WD 1tb

Well, so far I have tried every driver I could find. I Started with the version on the CD, then downloaded from MSI, then tried M$ update, then nvidia. So, I really doubt it is a driver. I found a similar issue here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=120233.0

none of those have anything to do with my problem and of course my first thought was that it was a M$ problem but had to rule that out after installing XP too... way to pass the blame

K9N2 SLI Platinum Install,2 Problems, Resolved..

I upgraded to a K9N2 SLI Platinum With 9550 Quad Core.
I used a Copy of WinXp from a Thunderbird CPU System.
1. Boot failure at second test ( memory ) Green light flashing. I thought it was a memory failure.
Read install instructions," need spacers" on mounting screws ( ?, I thought board needed to be grounded to case).
Installed non conductive spacers ( top $ Bottom ). Fixed Boot problem....
Board Booted to system Install.
2. Next , repair WinXp with Install CD, (repair option after Install selected )
system Repair completed " Almost" bombed out at " lan,
Could not call MS on LAN, no LAN installed on repair process,
evidently MSI Lan not in MS Hardware table....
Installed PCI Lan, MS recognized LAN, talked to mother and completed repair of WINXP.
Cleaned up system with " CCleaner exe "
System working, Alls well, All old programs and Data retained....
SO< Suggest MSI provide a way to access lan on boot.... and ship Motherboard install screws/spacers...

You don't choose Repair actually. You let Windows find the previous installation. It will ask you there for a repair /rhyme!/. Here is a description:

When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

After partitioning my drive with Fdisk I tried to install Win Xp. My plan was to format the drive with XP. XP starts up and runs through the initial system check then when it prepares to install I get the blue screen that says [my words] "Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your system. If drivers are mentioned try disabling them in the BIOS or get the latest bios update from the equipment manufacturer..." The error is:

Use XP Installation disk with SP2 or SP3 included to fix the BSOD.
Simple your XP installation disk is outdated and cause troubles with latest hardware.
