K9N6SGM-V best CPU support

Dear all,
apparently there is a post here that may help me as well since I have similar problem concerning CPU compatability
My existing CPU dies and I'm looking for replacement keeping the same board ( see subject )
According to MSI web site and all the post I read , I was looking for Sempron but apparently new generation are AM3 socket and this board doesn't support such socket .
Based on the posts looks like the board may allow me to install Opteron 1210
Before to proceed with this I would like to be sure in order to don't waste my money
In other words , is the Opteron 1210 the only one compatible ?
Opteron is not listed in the CPU supported with this board according to the web
You mention that this require BIOS 1.9 update, do you mean 1.9 and higher or just limited to 1.9 ?
what is the best CPU performer for this board ( according to your experience and feedback ) ?
Thanks in advance

according to my search on the link you kindly suggested and MSI web vs AMD web , I identified few alternative :
AMD QuadCore Opteron1352( PN OS1352WBJ4BGHBOX ),Wattage75, speed 2100, Bus speed 2000,L2 Cache 2048 , Socket AM2
AMD Athlon X2 5600+ ( PN ADO-56DOBX ) , Wattage 65, speed 2900, Bus Speed 2000 , L2 Cache 2048 , Socket AM2
AMD QuadCore Opteron1354( PN OS1354WBJ4BGHBOX ),Wattage75, speed 2200, Bus speed 2000,L2 Cache 2048 , Socket AM2
All of them are AM2 and below 125W , however the only one officially supported by MSI is the Athlon , while the Opteron are not .
What you would suggest ?
QuadCore should be faster compared to Athlon , however not fully sure will be compatible with my board
Thanks again

  • K7N2-L maximum CPU support?

Apologies if this has already been answered somewhere.  I just wanted to doubly confirm what the main site says about this mobo.
I've a K7N2-L mobo with the latest BIOS.  Am I right in that it will support CPUs over and above 3000mhz as well as PC3200 DDR ram?  Right now I have a 2000mhz CPU with PC2100 ram and would rather just upgrade the CPU and RAM rather than fork out for a new mobo as well.

It boils down to the choice of a new PC entirely or just getting the best CPU/RAM I can for this mobo.  I don't really OC my machine too much anyway so I'd rather just go for the maximum CPU possible.
If I can put a 3000mhz and some PC3200 RAM in there, I'll be quite happy.  Then it's just a matter of waiting for the graphics cards to drop in price a little and I'll be able to happily play the Half-Life 2s and Doom3's of the coming months

  • K9A2-CF CPU Support update

    Hi!
Have read a lot of post stating that the K9A2-CF has to be V2 to cope with a high wattage CPU.
Not being sure what to think of this since MSI now have only one list for CPU support stating that all CPU's are supported now, I contacted MSI support and got the information that my K9A2-CF can handle them.
Searched some more and only found the V2 in US. In Europe and Global sites there is no such MB just the "simple" K9A2-CF.
Just wanted to do an update on it since I've seen no other mentioning about it. (I might have missed it if there is, searched through the forum though without finding any)

That 'CPU Support List' is for the K9A2 CF V2 only, eliminate any 125W on the list for the V1 MB. If your MB does not have K9A2 CF V2 like in this pic do not use 125W or highly OCd 95W CPU. Read the thread that Russ-xp has the link to. It was a bad idea for MSI to sweep the V1 under the carpet and hide it like it never existed. Doing that for sure is going to end up with more dead V1 MBs for people that don't have the sense to ask about it like you have. I guess they'll just replace the V1 with the V2 under warranty when needed and leave it at that but that's just my way of thinking. The earliest V2s had a sticker like this in the pic.
So, what the support team have told me is wrong? That's the only conclusion I can come to since I do NOT have the above mentioned sticker on my board.
Have once again contacted the support team, waiting for response now.
Thx for the replies, actually missed that post by aardvark0

  • MS-7222 CPU support

I have MS-7222 v2 (PM8PM-V) mobo(Bios 3.3)Chipset VIA P4M800 Pro, i have p4 3.06 GHZ on it and i want change the cpu. I wonder if that mobo support core 2 duo cpus? E4700 or celeron E3300?. If not support so which is the best cpu i can use on that mobo? Thanks in advance!

I do not think any E-series Dual Core CPUs will work.
The best it will take is the dual core D 960 Presler, specifically the 95Watt tdp model(not the 130W).

Modding the BIOS and having it successfully updated on board is possible, but the outcome of success when using the new processor is minimal, IMO. In this case the E-series lack support with PCB 3.1, seems.
    Intel Pentium D :

Thanks for advise, there is no more choice. Modding the bios or using Pentium D. C2D isn't supported by PCP 2.01 but also P4M800 Pro chipset supports some of C2D's. If i get a supported C2D i will mod the bios, so will see if gonna success.

  • Maximum Athlon XP CPU support ; enter yours !

I’ve a K7T Turbo Limited Edition (3.X with Bios 3.4) but i cdo not understand what is the maximum CPU supported; In fact :
    The manual says Athlon 1.3Ghz
The Board product page says Athlon XP 2Ghz
The CPU support page says Athlon XP 1.8Ghz (the OK stops there)
The Bios page says the ver. 3.3 bios supports XP up to 2Ghz
    It’s a little messy, isn’t it ?

As the BIOS for the K7T Turbo2 is the same, but this board supports higher CPU's, it's a bit confusing that you see the above CPU's listed...
That makes no sense as the power consumtion of the xp 2000+ is lower (70 watts max according to amd tech docs) that the 1.4 gig tbird cpu(72 watts max according to amds techdocs)

  • K9N4 SLI - Lack of 125W CPU Support

    Hello,
Just wondering why does this board not support any 125W CPU's?
I was looking at getting one of these boards to throw in a 6000 X2 but according to the website, this board only supports the 89W version, which is unavailable where I am.
I've seen this CPU supported on a Gigabyte board using the nforce 4 SLI Chipset, which the nforce 500 SLI is based off or rebadged from.
    Thank you.

I'm sorry, i really don't care if the board goes up in smoke.  As a matter of fact, this board is one of the worst decisions i have made.  Don't get me wrong, I will always stick with MSI, but this particular model of a board seems to have constant issues with a lot of other people.  particularly with it not posting right out of the box.  i myself had this issue 2 or 3 times with the same model board and according to my findings here, and in many other forums, so do a lot of other people.  so really, who cares if the damn thing goes up in smoke?  it was only $80.00 and in the meantime I have a good setup going on.  you won't hear me complaining about it frying, i'll just buy a different model.

  • FM2-A75IA-E53 CPU supported list is missing

I read the subject about how to know the CPU supported by the Motherboards but in the case of FM2-A75IA-E53 motherboard there is no SUPPORT -> CPU SUPPORT in the product page.

I think (hope) they are revamping them because they are definatly missing.
Contact msi for this information for now.

  • Are there any sound cards with best driver support for Arch?

I was wondering if there are any sound cards that have the best driver support for ArchLinux? I currently own a Creative Labs X-FI Platinum Edition. The main reason I like the Platinum is that has an interface you can plug MIDI and Audio ports into. It seems to me, however, that Creative is the worst company to support Linux drivers. If anyone has any opinions, please feel free to comment. According to all my research, ALSA sound drivers are the most supportive for sound. Am I also correct in this assumption?

yeah, creative sucks. go with m-audio. they support linux unlike creative.

You can upgrade to an SSD.
The simplest method is to use an SSD like the Corsair Force 3 and be sure that you purchase the migration kit.
The migration kit comes with cloning software and a usb to SATA/power cable that connects to the new SSD.
It is recommended that you purchase and SSD that is about 256 GB in capacity if you can find one that is affordable.
SSD with migration kit options in a search that I did.

  • GX700 bios 1.22 cpu support???

I have asked msi support directly, but they do not want to give me direct answer.

here is some QVL related to memory on GX700:

    About CPU support found this:
    http://www.avadirect.com/msi-configurator.asp?PRID=10877
    GX700:
    Support Intel® Penryn FSB800 CPU T8100/T8300/T9300/T9500
    Support Intel® Merom FSB800 CPU T7100/7300/7500/7700
    Thank you
I have tried several memory types and all of them have worked so far.
I think that I found that Avadirect too, and it suggests that T9500 will work with MSI bios.. I am just not sure whether I can trust that source. Maybe I will buy a cheap T9500 from ebay if I happen to find one.
Official information from Intel states that:
PM965 Chipset supports also X7800/X7900/X9000, but I guess that BIOS is the restricting factor in this case.

  • B85M-G43 CPU Support

Hi all I'm thinking to buy mobo B85M-G43 along with celeron g1820.
The problem is that in CPU support list there is no celerons but in spec page I see this
    Supports 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 / Core™ i5 / Core™ i3 / Pentium® / Celeron® processors for LGA 1150 socket
It is intresting because all other mobos with b85 seems to have celeron suppot in official msi cpu list.
If there is some tech guy form msi in this forum could you check this?
And if this mobo doesn't support this cpu what all you could recommend with similar price and features?
    Thanks

  • M55e 9637 CPU support

    Hello,
I bought an used M55e 9637-BN5 computer. I would like to change the original CPU (E2140) to an E5200.
I can't find a complete CPU support list. Is this (E5200) CPU supported by my M55e?
    Thank you for your replies!

Your machine has the 946GZ chipset in it, which allows use of Core 2 Duo processors, Just not sure the E5200 Wolfdale you have identified will work. Conroe definately will work, up to an E6700. Enter your machine into the quick path box on the support home page, and find the Hardware Maintenance Manual, it will tell you all iterations of your machine and which processor shipped with it. That will give you an indication of which processors will work.

  • Indesign and multi threaded cpu support??????????

When the indesign will finally support multi-core processors?????? It is tragic that adobe dont have any support for multi-core cpu and that this products cost thousends $$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only premiere and some photoshop function support multi-core cpu.

If you are good freelancer you can get money spent on CS back in a month. So I would not call this software expensive. What concerns multi threaded cpu support I believe that programming tools as well as operating systems need to evolve. I am sure that we will get better support in this matter in close future.
