K9ND Speedster BIOS Beep codes.

Hi bought a K9ND Speedster  on ebay the other day to use with my 2347HE quadcores that I have. I realize this is not supported out the box and I need the 8mb bios chip. I borrowed a DUAL core socket F processor just to test the motherboard. With 1cpu, 1stick of 2GB ddr2- ecc reg ram the motherboard will not post. I get a quick series of beeps, then a stable "doo dee doo dee doo dee" beep code. I have tried 2 different video cards )pci and pci-e im just not sure what the problem could be. Any takers? And just to reiterate i am using a DUAL CORE cpu right now not the quadcore.

Sorry about that.
I dont hear the normal single beep signifying post. I hear an usualy series of tones followed immediatley by the doo dee doo dee. It takes about 15 seconds before the unsual tone series of tones. Nothing is displayed on screen. I have gone through and cleared the cmos through the JBAT1 jumper and dissconnected the battery as well (System was unplugged from power).
What are the random tones before the doo dee doo dee?
So you think the board is infact posting? Im going to try a couple more video cards.

  • P67a GD-55 (B3) Bios Beep Code

I had some issues with lockups and random reboots after 7-8 months of flawless operation this past week. Since then I have reformatted the ssd and re-installed win 7 64.
While troubleshooting the issue I installed the latest bios 1.G0(which normally I would not touch if everything was working fine.
When I reboot the system I get the following beeps( I am aware that there is a POST beep in here).
    1 long beep - 2 beeps(rapidly) then 3beeps (rapidly)
I have been searching the web all day and have found a few posts in various forums about bios beeps and haven't really gotten a good explanation yet. Any ideas?
I have ran memtest 1 pass, all ok
I ran the memtest in my bios, all ok
The power supply seems to be working properly, I don't have a tester but it fires right up upon depressing the on button, so i have to assume for now.

At what point do the lockups & reboots take place? POST or when in the OS? After the flash, did you do a recommended power cord removed, battery removed, CMOS clear & reset?
Final release 1H is the latest UEFI/BIOS.
Yes, I am sorry I have removed the battery for a few minutes and cleared CMOS. I had thought about reflashing the bios 1.G0 to the 1H but according to the fix in 1H I didn't think it would help much.
The reboots/lockups are not happening now. Infact everything seems to be running fine. As I reload programs back on and games. But all this started a week to ten days ago and it would happen in windows and during rebooting just after POST, then for a millisecond a BSOD and return me to the Windows failed to load page. The BSOD happens so quickly that I cannot get the error code from it.
As I said everything seems to be running fine now. But I am still uneasy as i abotu thinking about selling this pc off and don't wanna sell someone a lemon.

  • Bios beep Code after installing Msi 970 GTX 4G gaming

I recently replaced my 570gtx with an MSI 970 GTX 4G Gaming.
Although everything seems to be running fine and windows boots without any problems, I have noticed the occurrence of 1 beep at the mobo bios boot since installing this card. Which according the the manufacturer indicates a "BIOS ROM checksum failure - Possible MB failure".  I already checked whether it could be caused by the Card being loosely fitted in the PCI slot by removing and reinserting it to no avail. The card came with the latest graphic card bios installed. I also checked my CMos settings and could find nothing wrong with it unless I'm missing something.
So the question is whether I should be worried or not?

It's an old Dell Xps 730x I bought off a friend since I liked the case and he was letting it go cheap. Pretty much everything other than the Mobo, PSU and CPU have been replaced.

Considering newer graphic cards require 32amps this may be the problem; however, before upgrading to the MSI card it was running on 570 GTX SLI without any occurrence of the beep at bios boot. • Bios Beep Codes

I have a system consisting of an msi k7t266 pro2 motherboard. When I place the board in, put back in the screws, connect the wires and it wont post. I check the d-led's and I am getting memory errors. The memory has not been messed with up to this point. I take it out and reinstall it to make sure it is firmly seated. When this doesn't work I try all the different slots. I tried clearing the cmos, removing the battery and disconnecting the power. Same errors. I double check installation of motherboard. It seems fine.  The system stops and the d-led says it is checking the real time clock. I take the ram and have it tested, I also test the cpu and they are fine. I assume it has to be the board.  I order another board put that in and the system works fine.
Right now it is on with both led's indicating it is testing the real time clock and that is as far as it will go. I double checked both boards and everything seems to be hooked up the same. I get a beep sequence of 2 short, 8 longer, after a long pause (with the diagnostic lights changing) it gives 2 more short, then 1 short and I am right back where I started with it checking the real time clock.
    Thank You,
    GigaGuy

I have already tried reseating the video card, several times. Any other suggestions????

  • K9A2 Beep Codes ON POST

I just purchased and installed the K9A2 MB with an
    AMD AthlonXP 4200+ Duo Core
2 gig matched set of Corsair Ram.
Nvidia GEForce 8500 GT 512MB Video Card
    500Gig IDE WD Hard drive.
When the computer POSTS, I get a beep code 1short 1long 2short. Everything seems to be running okay and the system boots without any issues.....
My question...? Why is it throwing up the beep code errors and what do they mean..?
    James

The first short beep probably means your boot block and system block are ok. The second series of beeps could be indicating an issue with your video card...

  • Tecra S1 does not start - beep code appear

    Hi,
I have a problem with my Toshiba Tecra S1.
It don't start, just beep like this:
    - Two shorts and One long
    - Then, Three shorts and <two shorts and one long> and <three shorts> etc
I don't find out which BIOS is and the signification of these beeps.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks,
    Duditz

    Hello duditz,
I am not quite sure which brand the BIOS in your Tecra S1 is made of, but I think it might be a PHOENIX (compatible?) BIOS.
According to your "2-1-3" beep combination, it appears to be a failure on the 64KB Ram module. You will find a complete list of BIOS beeping codes here: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/phoenixbeep.htm
Don't know if this info helps you in any way besides deciding to carry your Notebook to a Toshiba Service for further investigation.
If you want, you can download a memory check software to confirm the suspicious 64Kb Ram area.
You can find a suitable FREE program from following link:

Btw, this software is part of the FREE "ultimate boot cd" collection that is available for download from following link:

    Hi @J-Lccd
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are getting a beep code on start up. The most common cause for this is faulty memory.
However you can take a look at these pages and see if they are helpful.

  • Ps67a-gd55 b3 bios beeps

when i start my pc i get 1 long and 3 short beeps its done this from new, now according to ami site it says 1long and 2 short ok anything more more than the 2 beeps is related to memory AND thats where i am having issues with trying to install 16gig of corsair xms3.i am am giong to reinstall win7 64 bit onto a hard drive and not my crucial 128gig m4 ssd just incase thats the bottlneck,if i put8 gig of mem in all is ok but any more than that and i get freezes and have to reboot.so before i reinstall does anyone know the bios beep codes or point me in the right direction ..i must applogise now to jack as ive commited the sin of multi threading its not intentional (thought iwas on original thread)

Your system does not use standard AMI BIOS Releases, but AMI Aptio coded UEFI Implementation.  The beep codes you found for AMI BIOS have no meaning in your case.  As long as the system boots fine and does not completely halt with the mentioned beep code, there is absolutely no problem to worry about. What you have there are most likely status beeps (one for each connected & active USB device).

  • Fail to boot (short-short-short-long beep code) after M92p BIOS Update

    Hi,
I recently updated my BIOS to the latest version using the System Update tool from Lenovo. For a while everything seemed to be working alright, as the BIOS was dowloaded and the computer rebooted. After rebooting the first time i was presented with the BIOS utility, and noticed that the update was progressing.
After 20 or so seconds the computer rebooted again. This is where my problems began. The computer immediately started beeping this short-short-short-long melody from the speakers. I thought this was normal, so I left the computer on for quite a while.
However, the beeping never stopped. Now the beeping resumed the instant i plug the power back in. I have yet been able to actually getting any sort of information on-screen telling me what's wrong.
I've tried following the "Recovering from a POST/BIOS update failure" on page 267 of the Hardware Maintenance Manual, but no luck with that so far. No matter where I place the jumper, the beeping code is the same short-short-short-long melody (yeah, it sounds like a disney tune or something).
Any bright ideas? The machine type is a M92p 2992-B3G
I'd hate to have to send it in for repairs, and Lenovo's Norwegian support line doesn't open until Monday, and there seems to be no way to call their 800-number in the states from here
Oh, and would this be covered by my warranty if repairs / motherboard replacement is the only way out?
    UPDATE #1:
    I found this in the manual;
3 short beeps and then 1 long beep DRAM memory
    error
Perform the following actions in order.
    1. Make sure the memory module(s) are properly seated
    in the connector(s).
    2. Replace the memory module(s).
    3. Replace the system board.
This is pretty much Lenovo's way of saying "You're screwed", isn't it?
    UPDATE #2:
    I've now tried pretty much everything;
The solution as proposed on page 267 in the Hardware Maintenance Manual
Unplugging all cables and harddrives before booting
Removing my PCIe video card and PCI Wireless NIC before booting
Removing all memory modules, and trying 1 and 1 module
Moved a memory module from another machine that I know is working
    No luck so far.
Ideas would be welcome at this point

I'm glad to hear it's just a simple memory error, however the original problem in this post is a bit more than just a memory problem.
This became a problem after a BIOS update, so somewhere along the way one of Lenovo's developer screwed up badly, and it's been bugging me ever since. There's absolutely no way for me to use any PCI-e card with my M92p.
I've tried 6 different cards, 3-4 different memory module combinaties, with our without harddrives plugged in, and every thinkable combination of these.
No luck. Therefore, I simply conclude that Lenovo are dicks, and we all know what dicks enjoy doing; **bleep**ing people over.
I've given up on the issue, and I'll never buy a Lenovo again after this.

  • Msi K9ND Speedster -- Motherboard Problems

I need some help with a MSI K9ND Speedster motherboard which i purchased on ebay, apparently new.
    Im using
    Opteron Socket F (1207) 2218 95W 2.6GHz -- OSA2218GAA6CQ
    512MB P/N - NT512T72U89A0BV-3C x4 -- 1GB per cpu.
    Old PCI Graphics Card.
    Floppy Drive
    Enermax 600W & 430W
Im running 2 Enermax PSU's, 1 600w, other 430w with them both supplying power to the ATX12V 8-Pin socket, they also supply power to my Geforce 8800GTS XXX graphic cards, when i get the system running.... It could be my psu setup is causing me problems, but the motherboard is giving me strange behaviour, and its hard to say, plus i don't have a drop in PSU replacement.
The second cpu in cpu1, does not seem to be registering.... but is reported in the temperature screen at around 33C, while Cpu in Cpu0 is detected, but is said to be running at around 75C "i checked the cooler multiple times"... Ive got 4 sticks of ram in the computer, but only one stick is being detected.... though its hard to say with the limited bios features... The cpu0 is reported to be running at 1.3v, while cpu1 is running at 1.13v...
I need some help from some other K9ND speedster system owners, as ive been trouble shooting & researching all day, and ive not been able to find much in helpful information...
I tryed updating my bios to 1.3, but it tells me something about "not enough DMI OEM line space" and makes me reboot...
    My brain hurts

Okay... The Enermax Galaxy 1000W arrived this afternoon, and i installed it and all the other other hardware over the last few hours...
The K9ND is not posting with the memory installed in Dimm sockets net to CPU1 ? and since i last posted i  bought an 8mb or 8MB chip with v2.10 flashed on it, and ive installed it in the motherboard, thankfully with no problems, but no change so far.
System Don't seem to be shorting with the case, as i wouldn't be able to turn it on...
System is booting without the ram in Dimms1, and im now writing on the forum using the machine...
My sli graphics cards are giving me a code 12, something about there not being enough resources, hopefully i can fix that problem...
I checked with cpu-z, to see what my cpu information is, and both would seem to be the same, though its reporting my memory is working in single channel more, and not double channel like it should with ram in dimm0 sockets 3&4.
I got a headake, need some more help & suggestions please.

No display and now 4 short beeps....pause....2 long
Parts are all brand new.  Fairly new MSI 760GM-E51 FX board that booted fine.  Installed ESXi 5.0 on it.  It complained about the processor (AMD FX 8120 3.1Ghz AM3+).   Seeing that the box states "Supports AM3+ CPU with new BIOS" I downloaded the 3.3 version of the BIOS from the website onto a USB drive.  In BIOS loaded the new BIOS and rebooted when it was done.  It gave a check sum error.  Back to BIOS, altered some settings that seemed benign, rebooted.  Now there are beep codes "4 short beeps....pause....2 long".  They cycle.  No display.
Read some page about reset to factory default through a jumper.  No good.
Tried to load BIOS from flash by booting while pressing CTRL-HOME.  Nothing seems to happen other than the same beeps.

I was the one that built the system for redboy. I've got years of experience building systems for myself and as a living.
Here's some background on the system. All parts, except the CD Drive were ordered from Newegg. The machine was working fine under bios version 3.1, it booted into ESXi without a problem, except for an uninformative CPU Alert in the vSphere client under the Health Status section in the Configuration tab. I remembered that the CPU had a warning that the motherboards bios might require an update to work properly with the CPU. We ran the update and when it rebooted it threw up a checksum error. We went in to the bios and didn't change anything just saved the configuration as it was and then hit save. Rebooted and the machine booted up fine into ESXi. The CPU Alert was still there. We rebooted and went back into bios. I looked over the settings to see if there was any new settings that might need to be changed. I didn't find anything but I did make some changes. Nothing major, just disabled all the devices that ESXi couldn't see, or we wouldn't end up using, like the audio card, Serial, and Parallel ports. Saved the settings and rebooted, and that's when it refused to come back up. Not sure if that helps any, but I'd rather give more information than you need than too little.
    Thanks for any help.

  • 5 beeps code

    Hello all
I have a HP Pro 3405 Microtower PC and I recently reinstalled Win 7 Ultimate.
Now I did a very stupid thing, I managed to install a DDR 2 1GB RAM on a DDR3 DIMM slot, don't ask me how but I did. There was also a DDR3 2GB RAM already there.
I quickly took out the DDR 2 and restarted the system, since then I've been getting 5 beep at startup which means "pre-video memory failure". I reseated the RAM, nothing changed. I looked on google on how to fix it but nothing worked.
I ordered another 2GB RAM from Offtek, same specs as the original RAM stick.
When I tried to install it today, it still was giving me the 5 beep code.
I've tried reseating it, resetting the BIOS, taking out the PSU... nothing >.<
Have I fried my motherboard? Or is there a solution I haven't tried yet?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
It is not possible to do what you claimed happened without you physically altering the dimm.  It's too far of a stretch.  Perhaps you received mislabeled dimms.  See the below image.

  • Startup Repair Offline: Unable to fix problem and beep codes

    Hi,
I have an issue with my PC startup and boot,
My PC Model: Lenovo H330, Windows 7, i5 Intel processor.
Basically on the first attempt at booting, my pc plays a beep code which sounds like = 'beep-beep' + 'beep-beep-beep' followed by a blank screen, on a second attempt the pc boots fine.
I believe this is 1 long and 3 short, the code does not seem to be in the Lenovo Bios support guide to beep codes, not only this but when I attempt Startup Repair in order to fix the problem it states it has
failed to fix the problem, details below:

    Hi Eli,
I agree with ZigZag ,you may need to resolve the beeps code first .The machine may suffer a hardware issue .
    For the error code 0x490:
Here is a link for reference of reference :

First of all ,follow Parvesh_s`s answer ,check the BIOS settings .We may need to reset the BIOS settings to have a check.
If the issue persists ,take the KrisM771`s method to repair with an installation media.
If the auto repair will not work ,take the alebcay`s suggestion .Repair it with the command .
    Best regards

  • Beep Codes

Well, after I initially got a bad motherboard, I finally got it replaced and got everything working.  I have the 915P v1.0a, latest BIOS, with 1GB of PC5400, a 3.4Ghz P4, couple hard drives, and a 6600GT video card.  Everything seems to work PERFECTLY in windows.  No problems noted, all the hardware works fine.  The only weird thing is every time I turn the machine on I get a weird set of beep codes.  3 long beeps and 2 short beeps.  The MSI site indicated that it was some sort of memory problem, but I've run every test I can find, and no memory problem is found.  Any ideas what's going on?

Mind if I ask what you folks used for memory in your 915Ps?  I am in the middle of a 915P build and am planning to use DDR2-675, PC2-5400, but I can't seem to find anyone who has actually used the DDR2-675 in the 915P.
This darn DDR2 is high!  The best value/price I've seen is NewEgg-$294.75 for Kingston HyperX 240-Pin 1GB(512MB x 2) DDR2 PC2-5400, Model KHX5400D2K2/1G - OEM. But I still can't read anything really definitive about the success of DDR2-675 in this particular motherboard.
Right now I've made all of the component purchases for the 915P/G Neo2 Platinum build except the memory, videocard, and one (of four) SATA drives.
On the videocard I'm also considering any manufacturer of the nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT, preferably MSI's version . . . I see that bluedragon used the 6600GT. What I do NOT know about videocards would fill volumes!
