K9VGM-V JAUD1 Jumpers

Hi all,
Just a quickie....
Just got my new MoBo (K9VGM-V) and reading through the manual before the build - yes I do read the manual sometimes
In the manual it says that if I don't want a front panel audio connector I have to jump pins 5&6 and 9&10 to route audio to the rear jacks via the JAUD1 pin-out.
But there are no jumpers to put on these pins, do I have to buy some jumpers or should they have been included with the new board?
Regards,
Steve.

I had the same issue... I did it and it works:
1. Update your realtek audio driver to the lastest (today is the R2.56)
2. Go to the "Realtek HD Audio Manager" in control panel
3. Go to "Audio I/O"
4. Go to "connector settings" (at right hand of ANALOG)
5. Check "Disable front panel jack detection" ()
6. Click OK
And that's all!!!  test it, it works!!!
excuse my english translation, I'm spanish speaker.

  • MSI-7021 Onboard Sound Option?

I own an MSI-7021 motherboard.  In the manual it mentions a Front Panel Audio Connector, and in the AC97 Audio Configuration program, it mentions the Option of having an additional S-Bracket installed(I would assume to the Jaud1 jumpers).  I did not get one of these with the motherboard.  Does anyone know where I can acquire/purchase it? The additional slots it provides would be very handy.

If you or your local dealer contacts MSI there shouldn't be any problem. I don't think they're at all expensive. Perhaps you should have asked at purchase? It they are stubborn I could send you mine, it's just lying there, as I asked for it when buying.

  • K9vgm-v - Problems with 500g HD and Vista

I installed Vista last night (fresh install) and have a 500g, unformatted hard drive (a Seagate NL35 ST3500641NS) that I just purchased from New Egg.  The Hard Drive is a SATA drive.
I've enabled the SATA as IDE in the bios, and have the drive plugged into SATA1.  It's showing up in POST as IDE3.  When I boot Vista and load the Computer Management, Disk Management console, the drive is showing up as 128GB.  The Management Console tells me that the drive has to be initialized, and gives me the option to do it so that other machines can read the drive (NTFS, I assume), or so that only Vista can read the drive (recommended for disks over 2TB, according to the OS).  No matter which one I choose, I receive an error and the disk is unformatable.
I understand that the solution to larger disks in XP was to simply install SP1.  However, I was under the impression that native support for larger disks was included in Vista.  I have installed the latest drivers for the K9VGM (the Vista drivers) and as far as I know, everything is set up correctly.  If this is a known problem (i.e. with no fix), would it work if I formated the drive in another machine, then plugged it back into my main machine?
Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

Ok, so I haven't really had a chance to mess with it until now.  At any rate, I upgraded the BIOS to the latest version.  When I did that, at first (assume that it's always jumpered to 1.5 GB/s) the drive DID show in the BIOS, but with a seriously limited quantity.  When I booted in Vista, I could see the drive as I could before -- 128 GB.  Also, my internet connection would not work (couldn't get an IP -- I'm using the onboard) and the computer was performing all too noticably slower.  The Window Manager (or whatever it's called, only been using Vista for a few days) crashed, and the computer was moving very slowly.
I rebooted and went back into the BIOS, and lo and behold, the drive displayed 500 GB.  I booted into Vista and the drive, again, displayed 128 GB.  Long story short, after multiple reboots, I could only get it to display the magical 500 GB number once, and the computer was still performing horribly with no internet.
The only thing I could do was to roll back the BIOS, and all of the functionality was restored but, again, the drive isn't recognized in the BIOS and still displays the limited quantity in the OS.  I did bring the drive over to a friends and he was able to format it on a Gigabyte board that supports 3.0 GB/s at full capacity, so I know it's not the drive.
    Any other suggestions?

  • HELP ! 875P Neo JAUD1 for front Audio with Thermaltake XASER III

I am trying to connect my new Thermalake case V2000A (the aluminium tower with 7 FANs) front (well top) audio connetors to JAUD1 on the motherboard (875P Neo FiS2R)
The XASER III wires say :
EAR L jumped with EAR L (Case manual says connect two "EAR L" to "BLINE_OUT_L" and "Line out_L" on motherboard)
EAR R jumped with EAR R (Case manual says connect two "EAR R" to "BLINE_OUT_R" and "Line out_R" on motherboard)
GND (Case manual says connect to "GROUND" or "AGND" on motherboard)
MIC IN (Case manual says connect to "MIC INPUT" or "MIC 2" on motherboard)
MIC VCC (Case manual says connect to "MIC POWER" or "MICPWR" on motherboard)
The JAUD1 connector on the motherboard comes with TWO green jumpers out of factory. One jumper shorting pins 9 & 10 and the other jumper shorting pins 5 & 6.
Page 2-25 of the motherboard manual says:
Pin 1 - AUD_MIC Front Panel Microphone input signal
Pin 2 - AUD_GND Ground used by analog Audio Circuits
    Pin 3 - AUD_MIC_BIAS Microphone Power
Pin 4 - AUD_VCC Filtered +5V used by analog audio circuits
Pin 5 - AUD_FPOUT_R Right Channel audio signal to front panel
Pin 6 - AUD_RET_R Right channel audio signal return from front panel
pin 7 - HP_ON Reserved for future use to control headphone amplifier
pin 8 - KEY No pin
pin 9 - AUD_FPOUT_L Left channel audio signal to front panel
pin 10 - AUD_RET_L Left channel audio signal return from front panel
    Now, I assume :
Case "MIC VCC" should go on Pin 3 (or maybe Pin 4 ?)
Case "MIC IN"    should go on Pin 1
Case "GND"       should go on Pin 2
Case "EAR R"     should go on Pins 5 & 6 (I need to REMOVE the green jumper ?)
Case "EAR L"      should go on Pins 9 & 10 (I need to REMOVE the green jumper ?)
    Thanks for all help !

I have yet to put the PCI cards inside but so far I was able to reach that end corner of the motherboard with the case top sound cables.
As soon as I get answers on this Forum to my queries from more knowledged people about the right cabling (this and other posts on firewire and something else), I will then be able to finish all connections and finally place also the PCI cards and the video card and will let you know if it all went ok without the sound case cable stretching too much.
    Thanks.

  • JAUD1 - Front panel

    Hi there !
My tower is equipped with a front connector for Speaker and microphone.
So far, I only connected my speakers to the motherboard (K7N2 Delta ILSR), on which some of the audio PIN's are shorted.
Is there a way I can have both front connectors and Motherboard connectors working at the same time ?
I mean speakers are always connected to the motherboard, but I'd like to use earphones sometimes connected to the front of my tower ...
    ?!?

Effectively, the JAUD1 looks like this :
And the Motherboard manual says :
If you do not want to connect to the front audio header, pins 5&6, 9&10 have to be jumpered in order to have the signel output directed to the rear audio ports. Otherwise, the Line-out connector on the back panel will not function.
Currently, I am in that configuration where pins 5&6, 9&10 are jumpered, and the sound is redirected to the rear audio ports. But how do I do, for example, If i want to use headers, sometimes, connected to the fron of my PC case ?!?
My PC case audio front connector looks like a 10 pins connector, that would  go to the JAUD1 ...

  • External hard drive only operating system, 500.g western digital, jumpers how should they be set if it has them? It does.

I have removed the original apple fujitsu HDD because of a crash, I installed the OS X 10.6 on two external drives, and they actually will fit in the place of the original.
But they both have jumpers and from when I dinked with my windows PC s and setting the jumpers I am retty sure they need to be set up to be known if they are the slave or master and all?
One of the drives is a 80.g western digital it has 4 little leads there where the jumpers are so more ways to slide the little part in place to establish what role it is to take?
It is used just to run time machine.
The other drive is a 500.g WD also just loaded with the OSX DVD 10.5 but it only has two little jumper leads, but that is 2 more than the fujitsu that was originally installed.
So I would like to put this one inside my macbook pro and both of them will plug right in place for a more solid connection so that is my situation, and would be grateful for some experience here as needed to apply for best and longest possible smooth running.
Thanks and hope to hear something ASAP, that is if I dont run into a wall and crash?
Or does it even matter being a laptop it may just default to the internal drive, and from there it is determined either by me holding the alt option, or C key down at start u to decide?
I don't know I just drive the thing and not that well. Thanks

FWIW ? Whats that mean? One of the drives had a jumper on it, the other just a place for one the pins but nothing on them.
So since I am going to put the one in my macbook that actually has a jumper and being supplied I am just trying to find out as much as possible in case my macbook drops another DUCE at least I have one less thing to eliminate to recover.
first two pins jumped usually is master drive, second is slave, 3rd don't know, 4th is both, it lets drive decide.
But thats with internal home pc drives, I have a MAXTOR I removed from a G3 mac today so I could look, and it is jumped like no windows pc drive I have ever seen.
But thanks I am going to check with western digital and find out, value my mac working too much, especially after being on a god forsaken internet exploder loaner windows computer the last week.
I wanted to spike it just for fun, but it wouldn't have been in less I was spiking it on the head of who built IE, I just cant stand trying to move on the internet and always end up where they want to go.
    anyhow thanks, David                                          FWIW?

  • Need help with how to configure jumpers on new HD

I'm replacing the Hard Drive in an iMac 350 with the same type of Seagate HD I just replaced in my cube.
I have a question about the jumber arrangement. On the old Apple HD [that came out of the iMac], with the Apple sticker face down on the table, there are 5 sets of jumpers. On the HD that came out of the iMac, from the left on the top the second and third pins have the jumper on them only.
On the new Seagate 120 drive, it only has 4 sets of pins. From the factory and from the left, the third top and third bottom pins have a jumper attached.
Obvioulsy, I want to switch the jumper on the Seagate drive so that it will be like the drive that came out of the iMac. The fact that the Seagate has only 4 sets of pins is a bit confusing to me. Should I reconfigure the jumper on the Seagate so that working from the left the top second and thrid pins have the jumper across them.

Mac OS X only wants to install and boot from a Master drive.

  • K9VGM-V and larger videocards?

Am I wrong but is it impossible to use the new longer 9"+ videocards in the K9VGM-V?
It appears to my that a coil and capacitor are in the way.

    Henry,
Your right....I just measure it by checking were the bottom of my current card is and if I extended that to where the newer longer card would go it clears by maybe an 1/8".
Its close but it just should clear.
     Thanks for your help.

  • K9VGM-V 1440x900 support

    Hello,
I just got the K9VGM-V motherboard with AMD 64 4200+ processor.  I'm using a 19 inch wide screen monitor.
I can't setup for 1440X900 resolution.  I read in places that a bios update is needed for this support.
Is there an update for this board for 1440x900 support?
    Hoyt

Thanks for posting back that the update seemed to address the issue.  I couldn't tell you as the bioses don't seem to be listed for that board.  Did you use Live Update? If you did, you must've followed the directions well and had a stable Windows environment. LU has been known to fail too often which is why we don't recommend using it. Good to hear you have it worked out.

  • K9VGM-V (How Do I Setup Raid 0)

Hi guys, I have a K9VGM-V board, very pelased with it, no probs so far.
I am gonna buy myself 2 new sata hard drives (identical ones) and would like to set them up in a Raid 0 array, only prob is I have never attempted a Raid array before.
I will be installing Vista Ultimate 32 bit (please guys don't laugh!).
Would anyone be able to guide me through the process, what drivers i need etc.
Your help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Adam

You can see how to proceed here: http://www.msicomputer.com/support/sup_tshoot.asp#3_4
also if your HDD's are SATA2(most probably) you will need to limit them to SATA1. What brand and models are they?

  • K9VGM-V and KFA GeForce 9400 GT

Well I've had this PC awhile, got a K9VGM-V motherboard and now I'm trying to install a KFA GeForce 9400 GT so I can play some video games XD
Anyways I load up the comp and I hear some ticking and then it finally goes, then when I get in and try to install the drivers it tells me something like a compatible hardware couldn't be found. And when I go to hardware wizard it also doesn't find it. I've looked around and it seems like there's some conflict with VIA chipset an PCI-E 2.0 graphics cards or something, anyways that's the situation I'm in and wondering what I need to do to get this to work. Thanks,
    -modchamp

    MSI K9VGM-V Bios 1.0
    AMD Athlon XP X2 4400+
    2*1 GB Corsair DDR2 RAM
320 GB Western Digital Sata HDD
    450W PSU
    Windows XP Pro SP3
I think those are the specs offhand. If I unplug my monitor and plug it into the graphics card I get a black screen, but while unplugged I get a no signal message, so apparently I'm getting a signal from the graphics card it's just not sending anything. As I said before when I try and install drivers from the CD it tells me something like no compatible hardware found, and when I run the device wizard or check device manager there's no mention of this new graphics card. No I haven't disabled the onboard vga in bios or uninstalled the onboard vga drivers either. The drivers for the KFA GeForce 9400 GT that I've tried to install are: ForceWare 177.42 WinXP 32Bit, ForceWare 177.31 WinXP 32Bit, ForceWare 177.19 WinXP 32Bit Those are the drivers that come on the CD with the graphics card. Mostly I haven't disabled the onboard vga and uninstalled those drivers is because in the past I've always been able to install my graphics card and use display settings to switch graphics cards around and I'm a little afraid that if I uninstall and disable onboard graphics that I'll have trouble getting them back on if I can't get the graphics card working.

  • K9vgm-v multiple monitors

Hi, I have à k9vgm-v motherboard with a onboard graphic card. I want to have 2 monitor and install à pcie card. Now the pcie card work but the onboard is not working. So I'm still only be able to use one monitor.
    thanks for your help

You can't connect monitors to both the onboard graphics and dedicated graphics card at the same time; it doesn't work like that. It's one or the other but not both.
If you have two VGA/DVI connectors on the dedicated graphics card you can connect two monitors that way though.

  • Help! K9VGM-V (MS-7253) with AMD 89 watt 6000+ OR 125 watt 6000+

a related question to an old thread?   https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=119983.msg907875#msg907875
    I have K9VGM-V (MS-7253). and have 6000+ 125 AMD CPU I bought at a bargain.
What would happen if the 125 watt 6000+ was installed in stead of the 89 watt version?  Would it boot up?  Would not boot up?  What screen or sounds would you hear?  MSI recommends no!
Should I give it a try?
Thank you to all who read this post!
Edit: Edited your link above to the one you should have used.

Provided it's recognised by a late enough BIOS yes it will work. But, and this is a big but as Fredrik stated it surely is not recommended as 125W CPU's are not supported on that MB and will eventually fry the CPU voltage regulator MOSFET's. If you insist on using that CPU then find yourself a MB that supports 125W CPU.
Edit: At the very least it will kill the MB you have, worst case scenario is it could be a fire hazard and destroy the entire PC if not more..

  • Front Panel connector for JAUD1 on K9A2 Platinum mobo

I bought some headphones for my computer and they work well when plugged into the line out and mic on the back. It's a pain unplugging my speakers in the back and plugging in the headphones, then switching back when I want my speakers again.
I noticed there is an internal JAUD1 connector which suggests that I can attach a front panel audio device to it. Where can I get such a device and what is it called ( I can look on New Egg if I know what to look for ) ? Does MSI sell one ? Does it attach in front into one of my drive bays ( I have lots of them in a Lian Li case ) ? If I have the device attached and plug my headphones into it, can I listen to audio through my headphones without having to unplug my speakers ?

Quote from: eldiener on 06-January-11, 01:23:43
My case is about 10 years old I believe. It is a Lian Li PC-70USB Full Tower ATX Case and it still is excellent. But it did not come with a front panel audio connector. Is it possible to buy one anywhere which can fit into a drive bay and which connects to the JAUD1 on the K9A2 ? I will search New Egg for "front panel audio connector", and I will ask Lian Li if perhaps they have one for older cases.
You can buy a new soundcard that comes with some front panel bay too ,though is much more expensive than a simple new case.
If you managed 10 years without a front jack why would you want it now ?!
Buy some USB headshones ,if there is a front USB connector ,maybe you get even better sound quality.
The sound on the Platnium is not so great anyway ,i ve turned it off in the first 2 months of usage to use either X-FI either D1 which are much better sound wise.
