K9VGM-V with no audio on front headphone jack

A week ago I put this MoBo in a eMachines Model T6216 that the original MoBo went up in smoke. I just now plugged the headphones into the front panel headphone jack and it doesn't work. When i go to the control panel and look in the sound tab it says that the headphones are not plugged in. Do I have a bad MoBo or is there a problem with my drivers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did disable the front jack detection and now have audio in the headphone jack

but it doesn't mute the speakers when I plug the headphones into the headphone jack.
You can manually disable the Rear Panel Jack that your speakers are plugged into via the Realtek HD Audio Manager. Simply klick onto the image that represents the corresponding audio jack.

Also when I check the audio devices the headphones doesn't show up when they are plugged in.
As was stated before, AC/97 front panel wiring is not 100% compatible with the Intel HD Audio/Azalia standard.  Disabling Automatic Front Panel Jack Detection of course has the consequence that your headphones are not automatically detected.  Stuff that is not detected do not appear as connected.  However, disabling the detection feature is the only way to get your front panel jack to work in spite of the incompatibility between AC/97 and Azalia specifications.

  • TX2000 no sound from front headphone jacks

Hi everyone, Ive started this because I have a major problem with my pavilion tx2000. it is not outputting any sound from the front headphone jacks, it was working okay on windows 7 64 bit but one good day without any aparent reason it stopped working I mean, I used to plug my headphones and immediatly the laptop speakers shout and I coud hear music from any of the two front headphone jacks but one day I did it and the speaker didnt shout and I couldnt hear anything from the headphones, assuming that the headphones were the problem I plugged another headphones that I knew were working fine with the same result.
I was using windows 7 default drivers then I updated the drivers from the official realtek site (I thnk version R267) with no effect, then I installed linux and plugged the headphones, to my surprise audio were outputting from both, the laptop speakers and the headphones, after some configurations I managed linux to output audio only from the headphones but I have to change it manually if I wanted the laptop speakers to work, I then reinstalled windows 7 64 with the updated driivers from realtek, to my surprise realtek audio manager will pop up a message saying "you just plugged and audio device" BUT ONLY IF I PLUG SOMETHING TO THE MICROPHONE JACK!!!!! otherwise it won´t say anything even if I plug my headphones to any of the both headphone jacks, my assumption is that somehow the headphone jacks lost its sensibility and are not detectng the headphones and as so they wont route the audio signal through them, also Ive read on forums that I could change something in the realtek audio manager as "disable front audio jacks" or something but i can´t see that option anywhere in any of the various versions of drivers I´ve tried on the various OSes Ive tried, Also in some point I did notice a red ligth coming out from the first headphone jack, I assumed it was spidf signal or something.
What im thiking is that this is hardware related, that somehow the jacks lost sensibility and cant detect my headphones, the question here is this: I dont mind routing the audio from the laptop speaker to the headphone jacks manually (I mean with some script or something), but is there any way to do so In windows, In linux I could but in windows I just cant seem too get it to work without windows detecting my headphones automatically, or do I have to change the whole front panel in my laptop, it is offcourse out of warranty and I don´t want to keep spending money on this as this is quite an old machine wich Ive invested way too much.
    THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE.

NO sound from front headphone jacks.
    No hardware changes made.

    Oh and one more thing:
In the Audio tab in Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel, it has this option of
    "Use only default devices"
Is it OK to check that?
Does that mean that if I choose Audigy 2 for the sound playback and etc. options, it would "lock" the default as Audigy 2?
Because as I said, I don;t want to go back and forth switching from onboard to Audigy over and over.
I just want Audigy as my sound, and be able to use the headphone jack on the front bevel of my computer.

  • HT2844 My front headphone jack does not work when connecting a head phone to a new mac pro desktop computer.  The sound still comes from the speakers.  Any solutions?

The front headphone jack on my new mac pro desktop computer does not transmit sound when connecting a headphone or ear buds.  The sound still comes from the speakers and is not redirected to the head phone.  The port has never worked.  Any solutions?

okay, try option-clicking on the speaker icon on the top of your screen. That should bring up a list of sound output options. including headphone. You could try messing around with Audio MIDI. It may be possible that the thing is still stuck inside the headphone jack. Careful use of a toothpick may get it unstuck. I dunno, I've never had a problem with the headphone jack. If all else fails, call Apple or take 'er in for an appointment

  • How do I play audio from my headphone jack and internal speakers?

How do I play audio from my headphone jack and internal speakers at the same time ? I have a splitter for my audio jack so that when i connect up my second monitor I can have it so it also plays audio as well as anything else i have connected into the jack but how do i let the internal speakers emit sound at the same time?

    Hello,
If you mean the internal speakers in your Mac, you can't play audio through them at the same time you have anything plugged into the headphone jack. When you plug something into the headphone jack, it disconnects the internal speakers.

  • How do I get audio from my macbook pro to my receiver with higher quality than the headphone jack?

I recently got a receiver and surround sound speaker system.  The quality of the audio from the CD player connected to it is far beyond the quality of the audio that comes from the MacBook pro via headphone jack to RCA connection.  This was confirmed by burning a CD from the MacBook, placing it in the CD player then testing the two against each other  -  the same audio piece from the CD player or the MacBook, both connected to the same receiver/speaker set up.  What other options might get better audio quality from the MacBook to the receiver?

The Mac's audio output doubles as a optical Toslink stereo mini jack, just use a adapter to regular Toslink and plug the optical cable to your surround sound system. Fiddle with the sound settings to enable optical output.
Mac's pass surround sound through, they don't do any processing.

  • Left Audio Only From Headphones Jack With External Speakers

Yes, the balance is set properly under the sound system preferences.
So here's the problem, I have JBL Encounter speakers connected via the headphone jack and since yesterday only the left speaker produces sound.
I've plugged my ipod into the JBL speakers and they work fine. I've also used headphones with my computer and again, left audio only.
I've even switched the right and left satellite speakers and again only left audio is produced... though on the right (side) satellite.
Any thoughts on how to correct this? The nearest apple store is 2 and 1/2 hours away so I'd prefer not to go if there is another fix.
My three month phone service is up but I'm still covered under the apple care for a few more months.
    Thanks in advance.

Sounds as if your headphone jack is either defective or has been damaged by having a cord yanked at some stage, Kanji
It is either a trip to your nearest AASP or a mailing box from Apple to get it resolved. Applecare will cover it if the problem isn't due to accidental damage (though a cat tripping on the cord can be enough to produce such results and the price could accordingly be substantial as the port is mounted on the logicboard on recent MBPs as I understand it) .
You might want to try a regular pair of headphones in the socket to make sure the problem also occurs with them, too, though.
    Cheers

  • High pitched (~15KHz) tone from front headphone jack

I often use headphones plugged into the the front audio jack while using Final Cut Pro. After playing audio, I will often hear a very annoying tone somewhere around 15 KHz. Playing any audio will make the tone go away. Sometimes it doesn't come back, but it always eventually comes back. I can't wait till I get old and lose my hearing so I don't have to deal with this stupid tone.

I had problems like this on my G5 tower (which I have since upgraded to a Mac Pro). I purchased a USB sound device to plug my headphones into. There are myriad options out there from M-Audio and other companies. Cost can be anywhere from ~$75 on up. If you are interested in this, I can post more info. The nice part about this route is that you will get much higher sound quality than the headphone jack on the computer because these external devices often have high quality DACs (digital to analog converter) chips.

  • No Sound Output from front headphones jack on HPE-070a

Two days ago, i purchased a new HPE-070a with Windows 7 64-bit and Realtek HD Audio Drivers. Unfortunately, while the sound output to the speakers from the rear jack is working really well, the headphone jack at the front of the box has no output. I've updated the Realtek drivers and reinstalled them as well, but when I run the troubleshooter, it tells me that "sound playing not functioning". The PC recognises that, once the headphones are in that's where the sound is output, but there's nothing going on.
If you've got any ideas, it'd be greatly appreciated if you could let me know. If i don't have headphones, my girlfriend's going to be assaulted with Counter Strike and Dragon Age!
    Thanks.

Beaker, have you checked in the Control Panel to assure that all boxes are checked correctly?  It may be that the headphone jack is not enabled.

  • MBP audio out from headphone jack is extremely low in volume

i just sent my macbook pro 13in (mid 2009 model) to the apple store (out of warranty). my problem was that the audio out from the headphone jack was very very low and staticky. the problem arose about 2-3wks ago. i've owned the laptop since june 2009. i've never dropped or damaged it (no water damage, etc)
my local apple store told me they had to replace logic board which seems extreme for what my problem is. i've read numerous forum posts saying that their computers came back with flickering "kernel panic"
has anyone else had a similar audio problem with their computer, and if so was it resolved in this manner?
    thanks!

I think you may be mistaken. the static coming from macbooks audio output port is as old a story as the macbook itself. IMO, epic fail on apple's part. I am debating complaining in a few months when I decide I deserve a better sound quality from a ridiculously overpriced laptop.

  • Strange audio problem w/ headphone jack.

Since updating to 5.1.1, I have an issue that while I use the headphone jack to connect to the audio input of my car, there is no sound at all from the car speakers. Tried everything and nothing.
Here is the kicker, I plug in the power and the left side.
Oddly enough, my Nano (with LCD screen) behaves the same.
The use of the Apple headphones is not a problem.
    Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Leo

That did not help. As stated, had this issue with the iPod nano and not with the phone till updated to 5.1.1
    Thanks anyway.
I plug in a stereo headphone that is not the longer apple one and no sound comes out unless I plug in the charger an then it's only on one side.

  • No sound from front headphone jack after SoundBlaster installat

Hi everyone, I recently bought a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value PCI Sound Card.
I installed it as normal as any other PCI card. I disabled onboard sound in BIOS. I installed all the Creative software and drivers, and the sound is working...but only from the sound card at the back of the PC.
I have on my Dell 4550,at the front of the PC tower: 2 USB ports (which still work), and a headphone jack, which doesn't work.
The headphone jack at the front used to work before I instlaled the Audigy 2 card, but now, after the installation, it doens't work.
Does anyone have a solution to this or an explanation as to why it is behaving like this?
    Any info is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Michael

  • No audio output from headphone jack?

I have no audio coming out of headphone jack on my 60 GB 'pod. Its songs will play normally through itunes but output from stereo jack is kaput. What gives?

Now this is an area that I am not familiar with.  I do not know what your audio source is (microphone, DVD player?) and exactly what you are trying to achieve.  You may have to use the Audio MIDI application so look at that to see what it entails.
I suggest that you start a new discussion listing your specific objectives.  There are fellow users well versed in this area, I am not.
    Ciao.

  • Audio in through headphone jack, out through USB?

Hi community, hoping you all can help me solve an audio puzzle.  I currently play iTunes through a USB digital audio convertor connected to powered speakers.  The system works great (especially with the "remote" app to control it).  However, I would like to play my TV's audio through the same USB device.  I have an oldish macbook pro.  I've confirmed that the headphone jack can be used as input and made this selection in system preferences, where I have also selected the DAC as the output.  The TV out is plugged in to the macbook headphone jack and I can see the audio registering on the little meter in the audio input preferences but I cannot get it to pass through to my speakers.  I've reset the PRAM and SMC and I've fiddled with audio MIDI setup to no avail.  Perhaps this just isn't possible but I'd thougth I'd ask for help here before I gave up.
Oh, and before someone suggests it, the DAC only has USB input, no other options.
    Thanks.

Have you tried using another HeadPhones ?

  • Gigaworks S750 audio control pod - headphone jack

Apparently the headphone jack in the audio control pod has stopped working. I plug a working pair of headphones in and get no sound at all. If I fiddle around with wires in the sub, I get some clicking, but no other audio comes through.
The only thing I can think of is a recent storm knocked out power while my headphones were plugged in. Previously I had been using them with just the audio control pod hooked up (recent move), and they were working fine. Anyways just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.
    Thanks!

From my search to this forum, I found some possible causes which I will try of course and will help also people with future problems:
    Posted by digant:
    Hi
According to my broken POD (see page 26 to know about my problem), unfortunately I found that the CPU (the 24 pins chip named M34502E4FP) is broken.
In order to help other guys, having similar problems, I explain the problem I found in my POD in order you can verify if your POD can be repaired or not.
The probelm in my POD is in the RESET pin (pin 6) of the CPU. It is SC (internally) while it should be set to 5 V (5V is applied to R9 which is then connected to C and also to the RESET pin of the CPU. C is then connected to the ground). In case the RESET pin is not set to a value about 5 V, all the LEDs in the POD are switched off and you cannot also switch on the system.
Unfortunately this chip cannot be replaced with a new one (you can buy on Internet) because it has also to be programmed (e.g. it contains also EPROM, CMOS controlling the volume for bass, sub etc...).
My problem is now to buy a new POD. Can someone of you sell me a working POD?
So in this case looks like, the cause is the pod. Now looking for new pod...

  • No audio from MacBook headphone jack

For all of you wondering why your headphone jack stopped working and start thinking is hardware related, i've got a solution i wanted to post here.
After the last update i made ,i found out that on system preferences u don't have a headphone output until you plug the earphones, so check that when u plug them the mute checkbox is unchecked since the speakers and headphones volume choices are different from each other, so while in one is working u plug the headphones and then its mute for that one, what makes u think is not working.
    Have fun

Does it also have a red light coming out of the hole? I hear sometimes the dual headphone jack/mini-optical out gets stuck in digital optical mode. Something about trying an object in the hole to clear it.
