Kaffeine embedded crash fixed when compiled with libxcb support?

From kaffeine website:
Embedded Kaffeine crash fixed.
This long standing bug is now fixed in current svn ...
In order to make it possible, we have ported Kaffeine and xine to xcb (a thread-safe replacement for xlib).
You can give it a try right now:
1) install libxcb=>1.0
2) install current xine-lib cvs (it contains xcb based video output plugins: xshm and xv)
2) install current Kaffeine svn
Notes
a) Both xine-lib and Kaffeine have to be compiled with xcb support (autodetected, check configure results).
b) Kaffeine will still work with xlib based video out plugins if compiled without xcb (but then, no fix!)
From 0.8.4 changelog:
* xine-part: support for xcb. Requires libxcb 1.0 and xine-lib 1.1.5. Fixes several issues.
Any reason not to incorporate this? If it lives up to it's promises It could mean kde users only need ONE media player :-)  (I have 2 installed just to get DVD menus and embedding in konqueror without crashing)
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Steve.

I felt that the laptop was possibly overheating and that is why I started down the road to call "customer support", thinking that a fan went out or there was damage to hardware due to it over heating.  And that road got me no where in a fast manner, and two "techs" telling me it was a software related issue and that I needed to reformat the laptop (twice) and re-install to factory settings.  Even when I did this, it still had the issue and they again told me that it was software related when there was no software on the computer except for Windows 7.  The only thing that customer support helped me with is the knowledge of next time I buy a laptop, but Dell or any other laptop besides a Toshiba.  That is too bad.
Anyway, I tried to continue on with my thinking of a possible over heating issue, so I blew air into the vents and fins of the laptop.  A lot of dust came out.  I kept blowing air into the vents until no more dust came.
My wife had to re-install everything again to her laptop after I got the major items re-installed.  She has been running it for the last day or so with no issues.  We hope that this was the issue.  I know she enjoys the laptop when it was running well.
I guess we will see how it goes.

    Hi,
    I am using a Z BAPI to retrieve data from backend ECC6 server and show it using a VC application.
    When I compile this VC application using FLASH(FLEX2), the data is shown in the table, whilst if the VC application is compiled using Webdynpro compiler, the data is not shown in the table.
    The No. Of Rows  parameter has been updated with 10.
    Please suggest what can be done so that data is shown when compiled with Webdynpro compiler.

  • Pragma error when compiling with SDK X

    Hi,
    I am trying to compile my plugin application (which compiled fine with the previous sdk) using the SDK X, but receive errors in CAVAlert.h on the exception handler construct DURING, HANDLER, END_HANDLER.
    The errors are listed here:

    To compile against to SDK X all I did was:
    1) Used PIMain.c from the SDK X API directory.
    2) Changed ACRO_SDK_LEVEL=0x00090000 => ACRO_SDK_LEVEL=0x000A0000
    3) Changed the include directories to point to the new SDK X directories
    Is there another directive I must add to get the plugin to compile with SDK X?
    My preprocessor list is as follows:
    ACRO_SDK_LEVEL=0x000A0000
    HAVE_W32API_H
    PDMETADATA_HFT=1

  • Codepage problem when compiling with fastjavac

    Hi,
    I'm getting the following warnings when compiling with fastjavac:
    fastjavac: warning: Can't find codepage for "Cp1250" encoding.
    fastjavac: warning: Use default ANSI codepage.

    How could I suppress these warnings?
    Thanks in advance

    I think you are posting it on the wrong Forum. This is for Forte 4GL not Forte for Java.

  • -Xlint warning when compiling with command prompt.

    1 of the method i write in the program has a compilation warning when compiling with command prompt. When i compile the codes with the application i used to write the program has no error at all. Below is my code:

    Anyidea how to solve this problem? Thanks for the help.

    A quick google for that message would have told you that you're not using generics and the compiler complains about that.
    Google for "Java Generics" to find out what all the fuss is about.

  • [SOLVED] haskell - citeproc-hs was not compiled with bibutils support

    Hi all,
    since I have not yet been able to get help in arch-haskell's IRC channel, I am posting here, maybe someone has an idea:
    I am using pandoc which I have retrieved along with all its dependencies from the haskell binary repository. But when I try to process a bibliography, I get an error message from citeproc-hs:
    pandoc: citeproc: Bibliography format not supported.
    citeproc-hs was not compiled with bibutils support.
    Supposing that the error message is not misleading, I wonder how do I recompile with bibutils support then?
    Googling gave some results concerned with haskell-hs-bibutils, which seems to have been on the haskell repo earlier but is there no longer, so I installed it from AUR (modifying the PKGBUILD to accept haskell-syb>=0.3 instead of =0.3).
    Reinstalling haskell-citeproc-hs did not help.
    Next I tried with cloning habs the haskell repo (as is described here). Since I could not find any switch in haskell-citeproc-hs's PKGBUILD that would disable bibutils support I directly issued
    ./makeahpkg -- haskell-citeproc-hs
    but the resulting package gives the same error as the one from the repo.
    Should I have taken extra steps to build/install haskell-hs-bibutils also in the habs chroot? Or anything else?
    TIA,
    Andreas

    awagner wrote:Should I have taken extra steps to build/install haskell-hs-bibutils also in the habs chroot? Or anything else?
    Yes, it seems this was the problem. Besides cloning habs, I now went on to manually copy the necessary files of bibutils-dynamic and haskell-hs-bibutils from AUR into the local HABS tree, modify dependencies in haskell-hs-bibutils, haskell-citeproc-hs and haskell-pandoc (an additional dependency on haskell-hs-bibutils in haskell-citeproc-hs, in the other cases only change of version numbers).
    Then
    ./makeahpkg -c -- bibutils-dynamic haskell-hs-bibutils haskell-citeproc-hs haskell-pandoc
    produced four packages which I could install and now the error is gone and I can turn to debugging my document and bibliography files

  • PHP5 package compiled with LDAP support?

    When I check phpinfo() it appears the PHP5 package was compiled with LDAP support but for some reason when I try a ldap_connect function in php it errors with 'Fatal error: Call to undefined function ldap_connect() in ...'
    Anybody have any idea what the problem is?
    Thanks,
    Craig

    I'm not sure about the php.ini thing, I've combed through it looking for idea's as well, but the only ldap string in the whole file is this 'extension=php_ldap.dll' and that doesn't apply to Arch.
    Also at http://www.php.net/ldap it talks about requirements etc and I'm almost thinking that the php5 package is not compiled with ldap even though when I do a phpinfo() it does show '--with-ldap' in the compile settings.

  • Is Muse compiled with DSSI support?

    Is Muse compiled with DSSI support?
    I ask because it is not able to recognise my DSSI instruments (only its internal ones).

    I think that the dynamic loader would then search for libvdpau.so, and not find it on systems without nVidia-drivers, which causes the program to not load Also, it's not very KISS to have several different packages for different needs in the main repos. That's what AUR/ABS's for.

  • CVI crashes when compiling with VISA

    LabWindows/CVI does not compile when I try to use VISA:
    For a very simple program (only UI, no multithreading, instrument communication whatsoever), when I include "visa.h", it does not compile anymore and crashes occasionally:
    - When I hit  "Compile File", it states "A custom callback raised an exception.".
    - When I hit "Debug Project" (green Triangle), CVI crashes without explanation.
    VISA itself seems to work fine, since I can do basic communication with a USB-connected oscilloscope by using [Tools > Create Instrument I/O Task"] as well as generic VISA Interactive Control.
    CVI itself seems to work fine, too, since I can compile & run programms which for example use direct access to GPIB without VISA.
    I'm running: Windows 7 (64bit AMD), LabWindows/CVI 9.1.0. (428), VISA Interactive Control (5.0.3 / 4.0).
    Thanks in advance..

  • Bug report: ube_ipa: internal error when compiling with -xO5

    When compiling imlib2-1.1.2, one source file causes compilation to fail with the following error message:
    ube_ipa: internal error
    cc: ube_ipa failed for loader_tiff.c
    The command which fails is (probably wrapped):
    cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I. -I.. -I../src -I../loaders -I../libltdl -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/openwin/include -I/opt/csw/include -I/opt/csw/include -I/opt/csw/include -g -fast -xarch=386 -xstrconst -v -xildoff -xO5 -c loader_tiff.c -KPIC -DPIC -o .libs/loader_tiff.o
    Changing -xO5 to -xO4 works around the problem. The source file in question is imlib2-1.1.2/loaders/loader_tiff.c
    Patch 112756-10 has been applied, and doesn't correct the problem. GCC doesn't have any problem compiling the file.
    A quick note to any Sun employees reading this: it took me 45 minutes to find somewhere to submit this bug report. Searching sun.com for "submit bug report" turned up many forum postings where people asked "Where do I submit bug reports?", a bug report form for Sun One Java Studio, and not much else. It might be in your interest to make submitting bugs easier.

    Internal errors, such as the one you encountered, are generally considered compiler bugs. They indicate that the compiler reached an unexpected state and therefore bailed out. I opened bug 20703141: internal error: pic_relocs(): hh reltype? to investigate. I see the same error message emitted by the current Studio development release; I will update this thread if I find a work-around.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Runtime exception with ADG when compiled with ANT

    Hi,
    We are using Advanced Data Grid in our project and it compiles and produces a correct SWF file when compiled using the licensed FlexBuilder. This work fine for the development environment, but for the testing and staging environments we use ANT to automate the build process of both Flex and Java components.
    When the swf is built using ANT, we get a runtime exception when the page containing the ADG is accessed in web browser. The exception is

  • Error LNK2019 occurred when compiling with CS6 on Win

    When i try to use GetMousePosition() in my code, i got bellowing link error when compiling in VS2010.
    Is there any library i can include to resolve it?
    error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __imp__GetCursorPos@4 referenced in function "struct tagPOINT __cdecl GetMousePosition(void)" (?GetMousePosition@@YA?AUtagPOINT@@XZ)
    Thanks,

    Steps to reproduce the problem:
    1. New an empty project with name "test" using DollyXs on Windows;
    2. In testActionComponent.cpp, modify DoAbout() to be
    void testActionComponent::DoAbout()
              GetMousePosition();
    3. Build the project.
    Then, we will get bellowing link error
    1>     Creating library ..\..\..\build\win\objD\test/test.lib and object ..\..\..\build\win\objD\test/test.exp

    There is no such link error in the sdk sample BasicDragDrop.sdk.vcxproj, but i cannot find any special setting in its project property.
    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

    Ack! Please ignore my earlier posting. I did not play close enough attention to details in your post. I apologize for the confusion. Let me start over:
    The Studio Express release you have contains a newer version of the C++ runtime library libCstd.so.1 than is available yet in Solaris patches. We bump the internal version number when we add new interfaces. The internal version number of the Studio Express library is SUNW_1.3.2. The version of the latest release Solaris patch is SUNW_1.3.1.
    Some new string class operator functions are in version SUNW_1.3.2. I think these are also defined as inline functions in the compiler headers. When you compile with -g, inlining is disabled, and you create a dependency on library version SUNW_1.3.2. (Compiling with -g0 allows function inlining, and might resolve your problem, but read on.)
    We have not released a libCstd.so.1 with internal version SUNW_1.4.2, so I don't understand how that version number could appear in an error message. Did you really see that version, or is it a transcription error? For now, let's assume it is a transcription error.
    When you compile and link with CC, the program gets a runpath pointing into the compiler installation area. At program run time, the loader looks for libraries in directories listed in the runpath, with /lib and /usr/lib as last resort. The "ldd" command reports what the runtime loader will do regarding dependent libraries.
    If the compiler is installed in /opt, a 32-bit program gets a runpath that includes /opt/SUNWspro/lib. In that directory in Sun Studio Express is a symbolic link that points to ../prod/usr/lib/libCstd.so.1, the library with version SUNW_1.3.2.
    If you try this:
    % /opt/SUNWspro/bin/CC hello.cc
    % ldd a.out
    you should see, among other things,
    libCrun.so.1 => /opt/SUNWspro/lib/libCstd.so.1
    (Depending on the OS version, you might see
    libCrun.so.1 => /opt/SUNWspro/prod/usr/lib/libCstd.so.1 instead.)
    But if ldd can't resolve the library, you probably have a corrupted Sun Studio Express installation. In that case, uninstall it, and reinstall from a fresh download.
    If you run the program on a different computer where Sun Studio Express is not installed, the loader won't be able to find the right library version, and you will get "not found" results. I addressed this issue in another thread:

  • Bad performance of PARI when compiling with GCC for SPARC 4.2.0

    Hi,
    I've compiled pari (2.3.3) with gcc 4.2.0 and with an old gcc 3.3.2 on a Sun Fire V240 and Solaris 10.
    The performance of pari compiled with gcc 4.2.0 is terrible. I've tried it with '-O3 -fast' and without this flags with the same result.
    First compiled with gcc 3.3.2 without any special CFLAGS and run make bench:

    Do anybody know this problem or can tell me what the problem could be?
    Thanks!!

    Here are the compiler options I used to compile it with gcc4.
    C compiler is /usr/local/gcc4/gcc/bin/gcc -O3 -Wall -fno-strict-aliasing -fomit-frame-pointer
    Executable linker is /usr/local/gcc4/gcc/bin/gcc -O3 -Wall -fno-strict-aliasing -fomit-frame-pointer
    Dynamic Lib linker is /usr/local/gcc4/gcc/bin/gcc -shared -mimpure-text $(CFLAGS) $(DLCFLAGS) -Wl,-G,-h,$(LIBPARI_SONAME)
    If I use the -fast option I get the same result may be a little bit worse.
    Here are some compilation lines:

  • Why mplayer in i686 repository is not compiled with vdpau support?

    I was kind of surprised when I find out that mplayer in i686 repository is not compiled with vdpau,
    since it is in x86_64 repository,
    I know I could enable vdpau easily by compiling the package myself,
    but wouldn't it be even better if it is built-in in the official binary?

    I think that the dynamic loader would then search for libvdpau.so, and not find it on systems without nVidia-drivers, which causes the program to not load Also, it's not very KISS to have several different packages for different needs in the main repos. That's what AUR/ABS's for.
