Karaoke and DVD play

Is it possible to have Karaoke effects like the Voice Suppression Ammount and Pitch to work with other players, not just the Creative player? I would really like to have this karaoke effect for my DVD player. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Did anyone ever get the karaoke player? I have the Xtreme Audio Notebook card and would love to have the ability to switch toMusic Creation Mode. Or just the Karaoke player. What is the big deal to have us loyal customers to just download it from the site? Is it that much of a problem for Creative?

  • DVD burning on iBook G4 and DVD playing on G5

I've just got Toast 8 Titanium. I've got a puzzling problem.
I've burned a DVD on my iBook G4 from a VIDEO_TS file, its a film. It verified perfectly. It also played perfectly on the iBook.
However, when I put it into the G5 it doesn't even load the DVD, let alone play it. I've tried playing other DVDs incase the G5 player needed cleaning or something, but it plays perfectly.
Is there something that I have to do to make DVDs compatible between my G5 and my iBook?

It gets curiouser. I've now installed toast 8 on my G5 and copied a VIDEO-TS file to a DVD. It worked perfectly. Amazingly too, I can play it with no problems on my iBook.
So the question now is; Why can a DVD recorded by toast on an iBook not play on a G5 whilst a DVD recorded on a G5 can play on an iBook?..?

  • X-FI Extrem Music and DVD play

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use my computer as media center.
I have installed, WINDVD 8 on windows MCE.
When i play DVD on it the sound is not the same like with my DVD player.
I would like to use the sound processor of my X-FI but the Subwoofer and central speaker not working as well, the sound level is very low. I have configured WINDVD with 6 HP and with or without LFE option it's the same thing.
If i read DTS audio CD with the creative software it's working very well !
Visibly the sound card is not really take in charge by this software.
And I have the same problem ith Media center.
Maybe someone has a solution ?
    Thx

Which specific option did you pick in WinDVD? And check the settings for the card, to make sure you're using the decoder for the card. You'll need to use either the decoding option on the card, and set the DVD software to output/bypass (SPDIF), or do it the other way around (output/bypass with the card, and decode with WinDVD).
It is likely something is set wrong, if you can post up detail on what settings you have used I'm sure someone will be able to advise what you should change. What kind of speakers do you have?

  • How can I view DVD's that I dubbed from old vhs tapes?  I finalized them and can play on other DVD players but not my IMac.  Is there a specific program?

I dubbed DVD's from old VHS tapes.  I finalized them and can play tehm on differant DVD players, but on my IMac I can't play them.  Ultimately I want to create home movies with pics, but how can I play the DVD's?

A DVD is a DVD, unless it's been authored in a non-standard way. When you insert it in your Mac, do you at least see the disk appear on the desktop? Does it have a VIDEO_TS folder in it, containing various files?
If you open DVD Player manually (from the Applications folder), does it see it and start playing? If not, try downloading VLC (free) and see if that works.

  • IMac will not play the DVD that I have made on imovie and burned on iMac SuperDrive  ?? (DVD plays fine on household DVD player and also play fine in Toshiba laptop ) Why not on the iMac - anyone know???

iMac will not play the DVD that I have made on imovie and burned on iMac SuperDrive  ?? (DVD plays fine on household DVD player and also plays fine on Toshiba laptop ) Why not on the iMac - anyone know???

There are many reasons this could be the case but whether an optical disc can be read or not is a function of:
The reflective media layer of the disc
    Whether the burned disc was a DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW
The brand, model, and production lot of the disc
The specific frequency of the Write lasers that burned the disc
The specific frequency of the Read lasers that are attempting to read the disc
Are the Read lasers in the drive working (it is common for one set of lasers in a drive to fail while others continue to work)
How old are the Write and Read drives (laser frequencies change with age)
Is there dust on the read laser
Is there dust on the read lens
    etc.
At one time it was estimated that fewer than 80% of all burned discs were readable in 90% of the drives. That has, I believe improved over time but at the same time it seems the faillure rate of lasers in the drives has increased but that may simply be the result of how many different read and write lasers there are in today's superdrives. Fortunately todays drives are a lot less expensive the replace -- now that Apple no longer installs optical drives in their computers.

  • My DVD plays on my Mac and new BluRay player, but not on my TV

I burned a DVD with three mp4 movies. The movies play fine in QuickTime, and the DVD plays without a problem on my Mac. It also plays correctly on a newer BluRay player. However, when I try to play the DVD on an older DVD player (about 3 years old), I have problems. The DVD starts OK, and I can navigate the menu choices. However, I find that after about a minute, the player simply freezes, and I can't play or change anything. I tried burning a new DVD with a different format, but the same thing happened. I think the problem might just be that my DVD player is too old, but I wondered if there is a setting in iDVD to be compatible with older players. Any help would be appreciated!

I tried burning a new DVD with a different format
I'm not sure you mean because ALL video DVDs are in multiplexed MPG-2 format.
I suspect your set-top DVD player doesn't 'like' writable' media (it used to be fairly common). You might try using a DVD cleaning disc in case there is any dust over the player optical system.

  • Slideshow - save to macbook pro to DVD to play on non-Apple computer and DVD (TV)

I have tried to save a slideshow (with music) made in iPhoto to MacBookPro to then save to a DVD to play on Non-Apple computer AND to play on TV (DVD).  It acts like it is saving but then .mov won't play even on MY Macbookpro.  What am I doing WRONG?

This is supposed to happen, licensing issue mean that Apple can't AirPlay protected content to other devices. You might try VLC instead of Apples built in DVD player.

  • Plays fine in IMOVIE and IDVD but disk doesn't play right in home DVD Playe

I created a movie in IMovie and it plays fine there. I converted it to IDVD and it plays fine there, but when I burn the actual DVD, it takes 12 hours! and then it won't play on my home DVD player. (It starts out fine, shows the menu and has the movie, but halfway through it freezes. Or if I try to fast forward to skip to the next chapter it freezes.
I tried upgrading my Superdrive to the new Pioneer 111D (it was suggested to me that my older 103 was not compatible with Panther) and still the same problem.
I am noticing now that when I go to check my system profiler, it's now saying for the new Pioneer 111D that "disc burning is NOT supported".
I'm in the midst of a project and feeling pretty screwed. HELP!

First of all, I'm appreciating all the responses and help. This is a serious concern for me which I need to find a solution for asap.
As far as the media itself... the discs are TDK DVD- and I've ruined about 4 or 5 of them... each having the same problem...taking 12 hours to burn they play for awhile on a commercial DVD player then freezes up about 2/3rds the way through (unless you try to scan through, in which case it freezes up on the spot.) There are a total of 3 scenes... and the 3rd scene doesn't happen at all in the final burned disc. So, J.Keller, as much as I'd love to blame the media I don't think I can. But it's certainly a reasonable explanation.
Karsten, I have to tell you the thought that it might actually take LONGER to butn this disc is painful. It's actually only 45 minutes or so of material. But if I knew that it would take 24 hours but it would work perfectly I'd go for it! I will download the patch you recommend to see if it offers a workaround solution.
But I'm still perplexed that in the SYSTEM PROFILER for the Pioneer 111D it says that "burning is NOT supported". Should I be concerned about this?
At this point I'll try just about anything. So if J Keller thinks that by waving a dead chicken over my head while singing dixie would help create a workable DVD so I can finish this project for my boss, I'd give it a try.
Any other thoughts? I really appreciating the insights and suggestions.

after making the photo slide show, i clicked share>export movie.  after which i burned using toast. the file became a .mov.  i tried playing it in my mac and it worked. my fear now is will it also play in a regular dvd?... i read from google that mov files won't run in dvd players.  what format should i convert it to so it'll play in a dvd player.  can you suggest a faster way i can burn my projects for it takes me almost an hour to export.  im going to make 28 slideshows for my kids in school. *=( if i need to do this process 28 times, i may not be able to finish it on time.  please suggest a software or an alternative as to how i should do this... m more comfortable using imovie than iphoto.  thanks and i hope to hear from someone soon *=j

Thank you QuickTimeKirk...used toast to burn project... my project was in .mov, i tried to play it a dvd player, it did play... will try again tomorrow using another dvd player just to be sure it'll will really work with dvd players.  thank you again for your reply *=)

    Hi @Vikingx,
    Thank you for your reply.
I would just like to let you know that I am taking over for Futoji and will do my best to assist you!
I see that reinstalling the software did not help.
Have you done all your Windows updates?
Have you tried Using Automated Troubleshooting (Windows 7)
Have you ran the  HP Support Assistant  to aid with HP updates and help resolve issues.
You did mention that DVD drive is not recognized correctly by Device Manager.  Would you try this please.
    Delete the existing installed driver.
Scan for hardware changes.  This should allow Window to install the default driver.
Here is a link to Troubleshooting Device Drivers (Windows 7, Vista) that may also be of aid.
If you are still having an issue you could do a restore back to when it was functioning.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
The last step would be to do a full recovery back to factory.
Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7)
During the recovery you will have the option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss.  Here is a link to  Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7)
If the issue should remain, I suggest contacting HP support for assistance. They have the ability to remotely access your system to easily  locate and resolve issues.

  • Burned DVD plays on some DVD players and not others

    Hello all,
First, please forgive my ignorance because I do not work with video much and have no idea what I'm doing. Someone created a video that I need to burn so the DVD can play on any DVD player. The folder is titled "VIDEO_TS" and then the files within it have the following extensions: .BUP, .IFO, .VOB. with VIDEO and VTS as the prefixes. the largest file has a .VOB extension. The master disk is a DVD-R and I burned the video on a Verbatim DVD-R which played fine on my MAc, a PC and two DVD players. However, I tried it on two other DVD players and it could not be played. So now I'm trying to figure out how I can created a DVD that will be compatible with any DVD player or create an alternate version that can be played on the machines that currently can't play the DVD.
Does all of that make sense? I've been all over the internet and seen different suggestions for similar problems but I don't want to spend money or waste time trying different tactics that won't solve my problem.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
This is a question very familiar in iDVD forum. I use to answer like this.
    • Brand of DVD used matters - I only use Verbatim (more organic dye in these) - but there are other GOOD Brands
    • DVD-R - plays on more DVD-players than DVD+R as it plays on even older DVD-players (DVD+/-RW - don't even think of it)
    • BURN SPEED - is a major contributor to this problem - I never go faster than x4 - I use as standard x2
There are two kinds a blanc DVD can be burned as
    • DATA-DVD - Files from DeskTop just stored on a blank DVD - few DVD-players can play this (only very very new ones and they are rare - if I'm rightly informed)
    • Video-DVD - a DVD-authoring program is a MUST. iDVD, DVD-Studio Pro, Burn, Roxio Toast etc etc
I'm told that Compressor can do this - I never got it to deliver a Playable-DVD - BUT THIS IS DUE TO MY NEGLECT !
So when iDVD or Toast creates this very special structured DVD - You find the two (must be there) folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS (empty) - and if the DVD-player don't find this = it will not play.
Yours - very happy with iDVD and Toast (and DVD-Studio Pro - but this is hard to get right) - Bengt W
