Kb2670838: Would removing this update have any security implications?
Hi, We've an issue with this update that it messes up our dictation software "Olympus DSS Pro R4" and it won't work. But when we remove this update it works fine but removing this update removes IE 10 as well. So I've got two questions
1. Would removing this update have any security implications?
2. Is there a way around to install IE 10 without this update?

Since this is not a security update, It aims at improving the range and performance of the graphics and imaging components. You could choose whether you need install it.

The Norton Toolbar 4.6 is disabled in Firefox 4 while it is working in previous version of Firefox. In Firefox 4 it opens with massage Norton Toolbar is incompatible in firefox 4. Is this problem have any solution?? pls tell me.
Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have released an update for Norton 360 to make it compatible with Firefox 4, for details see http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about other Norton products, but if you run Norton LiveUpdate it should inform you if there are updates available. If no updates are available, you can downgrade to Firefox 3.6 if you want to use the Norton add-ons.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

My iPod touch 2nd generation forced a software update to apply to my ipod via itunes. what effect did this update have on my ipod software, as i still cannot download some apps?
I would appreciate your support to help me figure out if this problem is solvable.
The error comes about whilst trying to download certain apps from the app store, including CSR Racing which when i tap on install a message box pops up saying "This App Is Incompatible With This iPod touch", another time for a different app it came up with a message saying "This app requires OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics capability.
Main questions:
What was achieved from the latest forces iPod touch 2g update (17/07/2012)?
solvable problem(s)?
Will i need to buy a more recent model of iPod touch if this isnt fixable?
ps. My iPod has lasted me 3 years so far so i am not suprised, still in good nick!

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.

Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select

Would my Macbook Pro have any problems from this?
I was using my Macbook Pro in bed and accidentally it dropped about 1 foot and 6 inches onto a carpet/wood floor. No real damage on the outside but I am worried there is damage on the inside. Also more worried because I feel like my macbook pro dies really quickly even when I'm letting it sleep. I have had it for about 3 years. Can someone help me with this?
Your welcome! That is odd your battery is draining like that.... I am lucky enough to have never needed to bring my Macbook Pro to Apple, but I have heard it's usually a quick deal, at most I've heard it can take up to a day to get your Macbook Pro back. It really depends on the particular store's workload.... To run tests and open the case up shouldn't take more than an hour, if that, but who am I to say.... The only thing I could say about your battery is, other than it is damaged on a count of the fall, maybe there is an underlying problem? Not sure, but check out activity monitor maybe, and just check the stats for the processor and memory.... I don't know if that would give any answers, but when I may have a problem, I use the tools that are given by Apple.... Why not, it doesn't hurt, right? Probably, though it's a bad battery, or the logic board is giving you trouble, and in turn, it's not actually going to sleep, when it appears to be.... So, if the issue persists, bring to an Apple Store, or someone certified by Apple, although, it would most likely cost you, going to a non-Apple Store. What model/specs is your Macbook Pro? Maybe someone else could chime in, with some input on the battery deal. I'm sure anyone's guess is as good as mine.... Oh yeah, duh on my part, go to your system report and click on power to see what it says about your battery. (If you don't know how to get there, I'm sure you do, but I should give instructions, click on the Apple logo in the upper left corner of the screen, then click About this Mac on the drop down menu. Then when that window opens, click system report, and a new window will open. Tabs are on the left side, look for power, and click on it.) It will give you a run down of it's condition, cycle count, etc... Post the results if you like....

The [http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ Adobe Flash Player] page refers to 10.1, but the full version details for the latest release is 10.1 r85 which is a security update. You can get it from the above link, or use the manual installers available from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller
You should not have to disable the Anti-virus software in order to install Flash, only do that if is is interfering with the installation. -
I have an iPod with some apps and songs and pics an I was wondering of you update your iPod or iPhone if it deletes your data.
Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) for ANY computer...and the iPhone is a mini computer...you backup EVERYTHING before any OS update. You make sure all of your data is backed up & accessible BEFORE you attempt to update your phone. You do that, & you have nothing to worry about.

Does InDesign have any security features that can be used in a design?
Our client would like us to create some certificiates which are to be printed using holograms, guilloche and security design patterns, micro text, etc, etc. I'm of the understanding that this is a specialist field and we would need specific software are there any plugins available for InDesign?
It's specialised printing equipment.
You should source your printers first and talk to them about any concerns and design requirements. -
Is there some fix for this? this also affects my LR4. PS CC works fine and all other apps.
It's usually necessary to clean up whats left behind after updating OSX.
Try trashing the prefs. Start by quitting Lightroom 5.
Launch Finder and click the Go menu whilst holding down the Option (alt) key. Then go to Library >> Preferences and clear everything relating to LR5 which usually means deleting the following files:
com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
com.adobe.Lightroom5LSSharedFileList.plist
Then re-launch Lightroom.
Also look for the corresponding files for LR4 and Bridge plist files. -

- Try another cable. The cable for 5G iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

You can only hide some updates (i believe only OS X updates). You can do so by right clicking or control clicking in the blank area around the description or title of the update in the App Store list and choosing hide update. If you'd like to restore them, choose the Store option from the menu bar and then "show all software updates"
you can alternatively use the Terminal to "ignore" updates and reset "ignored updates". For more information on that open Terminal and type:
