KB2923545 remote sessions drop issue

In our environment we have Remote Desktop Services Host running patched and up to date Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise behind Remote Desktop Gateway running Windows 2012 R2 Standard. Dual Factor
Authentication from Windows Azure is used in our system as well.<o:p></o:p>
We experienced following strange behavior. Users with updated Windows 7 clients can successfully authenticate against RD Gateway, receive a call from Windows Azure DFA, authenticate
and establish remote session to RDSH. No issues while working in remote session until user need step back or minimize the active RD session window. After 120 seconds the session get dropped and reconnects immediately and the user receives another authentication
call from DFA.<o:p></o:p>
No errors on client side, no errors on DFA, RDG or RDSH servers, just entries that the session was disconnected and then reconnected.<o:p></o:p>
Running Wireshark on the clients side shows that the local computer sends RST, ACK which drops connection and then immediately sends SYN to RDG server with initiates connection reestablishment
and a call from DFA. <o:p></o:p>
We figured out that this behavior is related to the stations with KB2923545 installed. As soon as we remove mentioned KB, no session drops.<o:p></o:p>
Anybody experiencing the same and had found other solution then just removing windows update KB2923545? <o:p></o:p>

Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Does this happen on any particular system with specific account?
As this KB is specific for the issue for your issue, here suggest you to install on another system or reinstall the KB after restating the system. And finally check with new user account without any permission.
Hope it helps!
Thanks.

  • ASP sites Session drop issue

My company has a product ordering site in .NET. 6 months ago, I have been receiving some customer's complains that the ordering site keeps logging them out and empty their shopping cart. They are Mac users. Therefore, we started to test with Safari and later expends to all OS and browsers combination (Firefox, IE, Chrome, Safari, MAC OS, XP, WIN 7,iPhone, iPad). We are able to replicate the case in random bases and all cases are in MAC OS (MacAir, iPhone, iPad) with Safari. Although we know the possible cause (MAC OS + Safar), we still have no clue of the root cause. Can anyone help here?

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions..
    Deleting Safari cookies may help.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies.
Delete all cookies related to that site.
Now select the Autofill tab from the Preferences pane. Click Edit next to Other Forms
    Click: Remove All.
    Relaunch Safari.
Try deleting the cache.db file. Open a Finder window. Select the Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Now open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder. Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari.

Could some one let me know how to maintain the session stickiness and please do let me know why the JVM ID is getting changed.
Note : We are using cookie based replication in our environment.
    Thanks & Regards
    Arun

the CSS does not have the possibility to dynamically learn cookie.
So, you have to setup manually the value sent by each server.
According to your setup, the jsessionid would have a fix value after the first 33 bytes and the value will be 2 bytes long.
    Is that correct ?
If yes, try to increase the string range.
Finally, it might be easier to use arrowpoint cookies.

  • Windows 2008 R2 Doesn't Allow DPI (Font Size / Scaling) Changes on Remote Sessions

I am using latest version of RDP Client 6.1  from my local Windows 7 Enterprise system, as well as RDP Client 6.1 from a Windows 2008 R2 server.
When I connect to other Windows 2008 R2 servers, I am unable to increase the DPI settings.  In Control Panel > Ease of Access > Optimize Visual Display > Change the size of text and icons, I get a screen which says “The display settings
can’t be changed from a remote session”.
This is unacceptable.  I am able to change this setting on any Windows 2008 (pre-R2) server in multiple environments.  When is MSFT going to fix this issue in R2?
I have seen other posts on this issue
such as this one -- one person suggests exporting the registry settings under
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics and then to set them on my R2 server.
Can I export those registry keys from a 2008 (non-R2) server where I have set the DPI to 125%, and then import them onto the R2 server?
    Thank you.

    This sort of works:
Run this .reg file and logoff/logon.

  • Force PowerShell version on remote session

Hi, as the title suggest, I want to explicitly use PowerShell 2.0 to execute scripts and commands, why? Because SharePoint 2010 only supports PowerShell 2.0. So my problem:
I have SharePoint 2010 installed on a Windows Server 2012 (with PowerShell 4.0 as default). When I execute a SharePoint PowerShell command on the server, it only works when I go to a PowerShell 2.0 console (powershell.exe
-v 2). But when I am on another server and start a PowerShell 2.0 console, the remote session I create with e.g. Enter-PSSession is always PowerShell 4.0, the version of the host. This will prevent me from executing SharePoint commands remotely
So my question is, is it possible in some way to force a specific version of PowerShell with a remote session?

    Hi TechPeepz,
To start powershell 2.0 on remote session, please refer to the steps below:
    Server02 remote access Server01
    1. Run the cmdlet below on server01
    Register-PSSessionConfiguration -Name PS2 -PSVersion 2.0
    2. Run the cmdlets below on server02
    $s = New-PSSession -ComputerName Server01 -ConfigurationName PS2
    Enter-PSSession -Session $s
For more detailed information, please refer to this article:
Starting the Windows PowerShell 2.0 Engine
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

  • No Remote session after disconnect

We have the problem that AFTER a disconnect of a remote session we get the message:
"Failed to connect to server (DNShostName~50)" - actually in German it reads "Fehler beim Herstellen einer Verbindung mit dem Server (DNShostName~50)"
The initial remote session works, only if it breaks a reconnect is only possible after a reboot of the remote host. In addition the client does not lock the screen if the connection is lost.
I noticed that the listening IP stack does not listen any longer. Before the problem, when doing a "netstat -a -b" I can see 2 entries for nzrWinVNC.exe:
    Proto Lokale Adresse Remoteadresse Status
    TCP 0.0.0.0:5950 LWS71127:0 ABHREN
    [nzrWinVNC.exe]
    TCP [::]:5950 LWS71127:0 ABHREN
    [nzrWinVNC.exe]
But both listening ports are gone after I have lost the remote session.
We have ZCM 10.3.3 on Win7 64bit with an internal CA and MS-SQL DB. Problem exists at least since 10.3.0

  • Remote Desktop Manager - "Unable to enumerate remote sessions"

Using RDCMan v2.2 build 2.426 downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=21101
    Client is Windows 7 x64 SP1
Servers vary from Windows Server 2003 R2 to Windows Server 2008 R2 with same result
Error message when attempting to logoff a session either individually or as a group:
"Unable to log off from [servername] Reason: Unable to enumerate remote sessions."

I have the same error message, and I'm fairly certain it's not related to the access rights of any particular remote user, but initially I thought: kudos to the comment about this involving the Console session, because that's what I'm doing.
I have a half dozen Windows Server 2012 R2 VMs I am connecting to, all on a workgroup (no domain, so no domain admin accounts).  I am logging onto each VM as the Administrator user (this is a testing / development environment so I'm happy with this
approach).  Windows Firewall is disabled for Domain/Private/Public, and no third party firewall or AV program has been installed.  I am logged onto my local PC as a workgroup user who is a member of the Administrators group on my local PC, but which
does not exist on the VMs.  UAC is disabled in all locations.  I am connecting to the console session on all of the servers.  I am connecting to the console session on all servers.  I am also connecting to these servers behind a NAT-enabled
router, so I connect to 6 VMs using one IP address, but with a different port for each.
    1. Running RDCM as an administrator changed nothing (as expected, since I'm already a local administrator).
    2. Connecting to a server non-console ("Connection Settings" tab, "Connect to Console" unchecked) did not fix the issue.
    3. I read that the following registry key may not exist (but it did, so not my fix):
    "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\AllowRemoteRPC” DWORD value should be 1.
Hopefully this info helps someone in their quest to find a solution.  I am able to log onto a group of servers and disconnect from the same group of servers, but it would be nice if logging off of those servers also worked.  It seems the issue
is simply that the user I launch RDCM with on my local PC is not a user on the remote PC (no domain), and the request to log off is being sent as the local user of RDCM instead of the user which is logged onto the remote PC.  So for those of us without
domains, maybe there is no workaround?
Ha! I didn't try the last solution! This worked for me:
    "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\AllowRemoteRPC” DWORD value should be 1.

  • Mail: Problem with copy&paste from Remote Session

    Hi,
I have a problem to copy just text from remote session (MS RDP Client) directly into an email. It always shows a contact .
The workaround is to paste into any other app, it doesn't matter which one. It works with Outlook for Mac but not with Mail. Does someone have the same issue and maybe a solution?
Due to connection issues I cannot use Outlook outside the company... so not an alternative at the moment.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I test the issue with my colleague and didn't find the same issue.
    Here is the screenshot:
So please check if Lync Server 2013 and all the issued Lync 2013 client update to the latest version firstly, it not update to the latest version, update it and then test again.

I have been trying to install Office 2010 Pro Plus onto a Server 2003 Terminal Services server. We have an OVS license and I have followed all the procedures (and variations) noted in
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff506201.aspx . However, we still get the error message 'Only administrators have permission to add, remove, or configure server software
during a terminal service remote session.' when users logon via an RDP session. If they logon locally, the applications start without problem. I have tried the manual and .msp setup, installed via the 'Add\Remove Programs, install using the command line with
'Change User /install' and then 'Change User /execute'. None of this stops the message and allows the users to use Office via TS.
Is there a step missing from the Technet site that I need to get the users working?
Any ideas would be really appreciated.
    Thank you

This has not fixed my issue. I still get the message "Only administrators have permission to add, remove, or configure server software during a terminal service remote session". If I add the user into the local admins group. When I login as the
user in question or any user onto the server in question the message above appears.
When I run Lync from the shortcut on the remote drive it works. But when I run it from the desktop and start menu it displays the above error. I spoke to Ctrix who have said that it is a permissions issue. I have checked and all permissions seem to be the
    same.
    Please can you help?
    Kind Regards, PenDraKon

  • BGP Session drops when loading routes into a VRF

I've configured a small MPLS network with 4 P routers (ASR 1002s) 4 PE routers (6509s) and two Cisco 7206s as route reflectors.  I'm using OSPF as the routing protocol on the PE-CE interfaces and have sham links configured between PE routers.  I currently have two VRFs configured on this network, one is working fine, and there are approximately 150 routes in this VRF.
The second vrf is configured, it also has ospf sham links configured, neighbors up, etc.
The problem I have is that when I bring up the first PE-CE link and load about 7000 routes into the second vrf my BGP sessions between the other PEs and route-reflectors start timing out.  I do show the vpnv4 routes show up in the route-reflectors "sh ip bgp vpnv4 rd 14017:2" I believe the debug outputs below indicate the issue is in the route-reflectors, but was curious if anyone else had seen this issue.  The BGP peering IP address for one of the route-reflectors is 10.2.0.7 and one of the session dropping PEs is 10.2.0.13.
Normal output from "unloaded" debug ip bgp vpnv4 unicast keepalives:

  • The remote session was disconnected because there are no Remote Desktop License Servers available to provide a license. Please contact the server administrator.

I recently installed 21 Remote Desktop Services (RDS) User CALs on my Server 2012 standard computer.  It was an Open License donation from Microsoft as we are a non-profit.  After installing them successfully (I installed them as USER and not DEVICE)
the warning message that my "remote desktop services will expire in 63 days" message no longer appears :) however, I can no longer connect to our server remotely.  Our staff needs to access a single data management program on a daily basis and
that program is housed on our server computer.
I know that the solution to this is probably easy (like checking a box or installing a component).  Can you please help?  Why would we have been able to access the server remotely before the install of RDS User CALs and not after?
Thank you for your time and help in this regard.

    Hi,
Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
First of all the user which you want to provide access for remote session must be member of “Remote Desktop User” local group.
In regards to your error it seems that your RDS license server not able to locate the license server properly and licensing mode not configured properly. To resolve this issue you can try to change the Licensing mode or need to call the MS clearing house to
reactivate the license server in a correct mode. You must have all the license paper and all related document on hand and then call clearing house, explain them your issue and they will help you to reactivate it.
Please check beneath article for additional details.

  • Remote session was disconnected because there are no remote desktop licence servers available to provide a licence. Please contact the server administrator

    Hi,
I am getting this error from windows server : remote session was disconnected because there are no remote desktop licence servers available to provide a licence. Please contact the server administrator.
Remote desktop Session Host Server Configuration Details:
    The RD licensing Diagnoser(WIN-909xxxxxxxxxxx):
Number of license available for clients : 0
Remote Desktop Session Host server version: Windows server 2012 R2
Active Directory Domain : Not applicable
    Licensing mode  : Not configured
Now, Down I am getting this error as well shown by the system:
RD licensing Diagnoser Information- 2 errors:
Win-909xxxxxxxxxx : licensing mode for the Remode Desktop Session Host Server is not configured.
Win-909xxxxxxxxxx : The grace period for the Remote Desktop Session Host server has Expired, but the RD Session Host server has not been configured with any license servers. connections to the RD Session Host server will be denied
unless a license server is configured for the RD Session Host server.
    Now my kestion is :
Do I need to buy a license key of the windows server to not getting this error or it may continue appear even if I purchased the license and not configure RDS and AD.
Do I need to configured only  RDS and AD and buy the license key of windows server later because I still have 55 day of trial.
Do I just buy the RDS client access license (L).
Please could you help on this, am new in windows server?

    Hi,
As the message indicates, the grace period for the Remote Desktop Session Host server has Expired, you need to purchase and install RDS CALs. Also, you need to configure related settings
to continue using Remote Desktop Services. Otherwise, you cannot connect to the server remotely.

  • Black screen after successful login into Remote Session

    Hi,
I am having windows 8.1 pro(64bit) and windows 7 pro(64bit) machines using which i am trying to connect to a remote VM with windows 7 enterprise through vpn client 5(64bit). After successful login, BLACK SCREEN with Connection bar is displayed. Ctrl+Alt+End
    did not work.
In fact, a strange behaviour experienced. After failing once, i tried again with IP address instead of host name. Bingo, it works well. Then disconnect and try to reconnect, problem repeats. What i mean is, the problem is neither Consistent not persistent.
I am frustrated trying to solve the issue. Blogs, forums, communities.... where ever what ever solutions suggested, tried without any luck. Any help please ? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
From your description it seems that you facing Black screen issue, but when you tried with IP address you can logon to the remote session but during reconnection issue repeats. Correct me if misunderstand your case.
From last how may days you are facing this issue?
Can you find any suitable error\event ID for this case?
For this firstly please check that you have proper connectivity between systems. Please check that you can Ping successfully to the remote system with IP address and hostname.
Might this issue caused by some stopped service “Desktop window manager session” which stop after RDP login. You can check the status as follow.
    1. After the issue appear, please use RDP connect to the computer again and check the Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service status.
    2. Then, please restar the computer and check System Event log to check if has a Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service error.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Local Devices not found while on Remote Session

Hopefully someone in the forum will have an idea where I am failing.
I have an hp laptop (model 15--b123cl) running windows 8.1.
I am Remote Desktop Connecting into my Server running Windows 7 Professional SP1.
Both my hp laptop and the server have all Updates installed (including KB 2830477 for Windows 7 SP1).
I have checked all options in my Remote Desktop Connection (Show Options) Local Resources tab to allow Local Devices and Printers to be available on my laptop (the client) while in a remote session on my server.
(Checked Printers, Clipboards and all options under "more" such as Ports, Drivers, etc.)
The connection works fine but no local devices (printers, thumbdrives, etc.) are visible or accessible while in the remote session.  My laptop recognizes the devices being plugged into the USB port (tone sounds), but the device will not show up in the
remote session.  (They are shown on my local hp when I minimize the Remote connection.)
My real need is to print to my hp printer while logged onto  the remote server.  I have an hp Officejet Pro 8600 which I have plugged-in to my laptop USB.  I relalize that while in remote connections I won't find wireless devices
on my local (client) network unless mapped to a LPT or COM port, so I hard-plug into my USB.  I have also tried mapping my printer to a second port such as LPT2 or COM1 - still no luck.
No matter what I have tried or read about Remote Desktop Sessions, I can not get my Local hp Printer to show up while in my remote session.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Avi,
    Thanks for your reply!
I am using JDeveloper version 9.0.3.1035!
When I say it works in JDeveloper, I do mean the embedded server.
In JDeveloper I have two projects, a) a session bean project and b) an entity bean project.
I can run my code fine against the embedded server.
However once I deploy the two jars to the standalone server things fall apart.
When I reverted back to putting the session beans & entity beans all in one jar everythinh worked fine.
However, I do not want to do this, I want to maintain my entity beans independently ( for maintenance & de- coupling reasons).
So, I guess what I really want, is to see in black and white that local references do or do not traverse different jars on the same server.
    thanks,
    Kevin

  • Unable to Change Screen Resolution in Remote Session - Windows Server 2012 R2

Does anybody know of a way to allow Remote Desktop users to adjust their own screen resolution in a remote session under Windows Server 2012 R2? We are struggling with this and can't seem to find a solution.
When users login to their RDP session and try to adjust their screen resolution this message is displayed in Control Panel:
"The display settings can't be changed from a remote session."
We don't want to use the "make text and other items larger or smaller" scaling feature, as this produces undesirable results with some of our applications.  We also don't want to have to support multiple types of RDP clients or RDP shortcut
    files.
We have looked at other posts but can't find an answer that applies to Windows Server 2012 R2.  The closest thing we could find is KB2726399, but it only applies to Server 2008.
Does anybody have a solution for Server 2012?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Currently you cannot change the resolution from within the session.  This is normal and expected behavior.
Unfortunately this means you need to set the desired resolution before connecting by using custom .rdp files, manually within the Remote Desktop Client, custom web launch page, custom windows launch program, etc.
