  • My ipod got stolen and cell phone too. i don't know the serial number

My iPod and cell phone got stolen. As I am travelling I cannot get access to my serial number and have no idea how to reach Apple without a phone. How can I contact customer support online?
    Thanks!

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • Macworld 07: ipod and cell phone scratch proof casing?

for anyone who's attended the 2007 macworld. there was a booth for ipod and cell phone casing that was said to be scratch proof it was rubbery and clear. and when you put it on it doesnt look like you have a casing on it, the casing is completely clear.
i dont remember the name of the site they sell them on. im guessing along the lines of scratch proof and i believe the logo was neon green?!
i really want to buy one because im sick of getting my ipod and cell phones scratched.
it wasnt iskin either. i dont want graphics. just a clear case.

The iPods are so beautiful, but they are so easily scratched. However, there are lots of screen protectors out there. TrendyGeek has one that clings onto the screen and to the metal back of the iPod by static (you will soon discover that the metal back of the iPod is even EASIER to scratch and get fingerprints on!). They last about a month apiece, under rigorous conditions, and would have lasted longer for me if I wasn't an idiot and could put them on right.
Another solution for the metal back of the iPod is a mod I have tried myself and it works nicely. You can give it a brushed stainless steel look by rubbing an SOS pad up and down repeatedly on the back and on the sides. This shouldn't void your warranty. It looks cool, is more consistent with Apple's brushed metal theme, and it makes fingerprints and other small scratches less obvious. And if it ever does get scratched again, simply use the SOS pad again, and it looks good as new!

  • Dowloading photos useing Bluetooth from Cell phone

I have a Samsung SCH a870, and would like to transfer pictures from onto a MacBook Pro using Bluetooth and iPhoto from a recent trip to Italy. The phone and Mac appeared to be paired and configured. Still iPhoto does not appear able to pick up the phone and transfer pics via Bluetooth.
    Device Name: SCH-A870
    Device Address: 00-17-e4-xx-xx-xx
    Device Type: Phone
**Device Services: Voice Gateway, AUDIO Gateway, Dial-up Networking**
    Paired: Yes
    Configured: Yes
    Favorite: Yes
    Connected: No
Device services list doesn't look promising. It's puzzling that the devices aren't listed as connected.
    Many thanks,

    John,
I don't think you can directly import from your phone into iPhoto. You will need to put the phone photos into a folder somewhere (such as your desktop) and import that folder into iPhoto.
However, that 'Not connected' item is not reassuring. You may have a problem similar to mine, with my LG phone. I can get photos FROM my Mac TO the phone, but not the other direction. They are obviously connected correctly, and I can 'send' images to the phone. When I try to 'get' the images from the phone, the connection is severed.
From what I could tell on LG sites and one of the BlueTooth ones here, certain LG phones just won't transfer their images.
The only way I have found to get photos from my cell phone is to email them to myself.

  • Need help connecting to Internet via bluetooth'd cell phone

I have my iBook connected to my cell phone (i-mate K-jam) via bluetooth and I'm trying to figure out how to connect to t-mobile gsm so I can get to the internet. I can access the net with my K-jam by itself, I just can't figure out how to do it with my iBook. Has anyone done this and do you have a step-by-step???
    Thanks,
    Tom

Fixed it! I followed this: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=6184897#post6184897 The key was to put a fake user name and password. Even though Tmobile doesn't require it, I had to put something in. d for user and u for password works...anything will work.

  • Address Book-Bluetooth-Dial Cell Phone or Send SNS

I have repeatedly paired my Cell Phone to my Powerbook according to the available procedures. When I select a phone number in Address Book both "Dial on Cell Phone" and "Send SMS" are grey. The bluetooth symbol at the top of the Address Book page never turns blue as described after successful pairing of my cell phone to my computer. I would like to use my Address Book with my cell phone (Motorola V557). Please tell me how!

Yes and no. At least in my opinion.
Before iPhone Apple worked with mobile hardware makers to integrate features like you describe into Address Book to make it easier to manage calls and Address Book contacts.
Now, on the iPhone those same contacts are all on the iPhone. I can see how someone at Apple might come to the conclusion that the "dial with phone" feature would not be implemented. I did use the feature all the time with my Sony Ericsson W810i, but I don't miss it at all with my iPhone.

  • Cannot make calls to landlines and cell phones.

I just bought a subscription for 1 month with skype. I have try to make several calls already and have not been able to connect. Skype starts to call and then it comes up with the message that you have to have skype credit or a subscription. What can I do?

I cannot make phone calls to landlines or cell phones and get connected. It appears to be working but is actually not connecting. I have no problems receiving phones calls. I have had this problem for about 10 days. I use FireFox for my browser. I have checked my privacy settings. Any ideas.
Do you have Skype Credit, or a subscription, to cover calls to landlines or mobiles from your Skype account?  If not, then you won't be able to call telephones other than possibly toll-free numbers in a few countries.  Remember that a Skype Online Number only covers receiving calls.  It does not give you the capability to make calls to telephones.

I don't think your browser would be the problem here.  Check the Skype app on your computer, and your account (either through the app, or log into your account on the Skype web site).

  • N82 V30.0.013 Bluetooth and Wireless LAN problems

I am using an N82, but it looks like there are similar problems with everything using similar firmware. I didn't have any of these problems with the V20 firmware that came with the phone or after the first V20 upgrade I used.
I find that my wireless LAN connections sometimes only let me browse a few pages before I get the "web connection timed out" message. If I change wireless LAN connection (I have two, mostly for testing purposes) I can continue browsing. Of course the same error may happen causing me to switch again. Sometimes it just works. Both have WPA set up and the passwords are clearly correct. If I use Real Player I can typically listen for as long as I like. Sometimes the connection to the server will drop for Real Player but reconnecting will work (don't have to change wireless LAN network). With the web browser it seems like the data connection is dead, not a server timing out - the message appears instantly. I think have seen the same problem once with my 3G connection, but I haven't recreated it. Could be my imagination!
I have never had any problems with IMAP email using either the Nokia client or Profimail on either the wireless LAN connection or 3G. It leads me to believe that there is nothing wrong with the wireless LAN side of things and it may be more to do with the web browser, or perhaps just that the email clients are only talking to one server helps (DNS problems?). Has anyone experienced similar problems with an alternative browser?
I have also found that when I get to work my bluetooth dongle doesn't connect to my phone. If I disable/enable bluetooth on my phone it will connect. I had this problem with my N80 with the first firmware I had on it and the problem went away after an upgrade.
So, it seems that both connections are fixed by turning them off and on again.

Having both routers the same IP address is a little bit confusing, but possible since each router creates it's own subnet and provides full PNAT support. Actiontec DSL modem has to have DHCP enabled since Linksys WAN (not LAN) port should be connected to one of 4 Actiontec LAN ports. Linksys should not have any configuration setup in regards of your WAN account. Just set it to dynamic address. In ohter words:
    1. RJ-11 connect to Actiontec mode/router.
    2. Actiontec modem should be configured to acquire an IP address from Verizon and to provide all authentication info to Verizon.
    3. Actiontec modem should be configured to allow clients to acquire dynamic IP addresses -- DHCP enabled.
    4. Linsys WAN (not LAN!) port should be connected to Actiontec LAN port.
    5. Linksys should be configured to acquire dynamic IP address and no authentifacations.
    6. Configure Linksys to be DHCP enabled or you can use static IP addresss if you want.
    7. Wireless devices would be connected to Linksys and on the way to the Internet addresses would go through double NAT conversions. Any wired device connected to Linksys would have similar  features. Any device connected to Linksys should be able to connect 192.168.1.1 assigned to Linksys, but not to Actiontec.
    8. To be able to connect Linksys and Actiontec would no be able to communicate unless you split 192.168.1.0/24 into smaller subnets and set specific routes in the table. But even you do so you will not be able to access 192.168.1.1 accross subnets boundary.
    Hope it helps.

  • Does Qik use WiFi and Cell phone service ?

At home we have WiFi in the house connected to our Router, which connects to our ISP.
Using an iPhone in our house, using Qik,...will all the vido data use our WiFi connection ?
...to send a new Qik video ?
...to receive a new Qik video ?
If we are out of the house, with no WiFi available, will Qik use our "cell phone network" ?
(Which will use "data minutes" I assume.)
I guess this is separate from "TXT messaging",   and if I have a limit on TXT, that is independent from Qik ?
    Sound correct ?
Just want to have a good idea of when Qik uses each network.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
All depends on the connection type that your phone is using. If you are using WiFi connection with your iPhone at home, then Skype Qik usage - as any other internet usage on the device - will go through WiFi.
When you are out and connected through "mobile internet", then Skype Qik will use this connection for sending/receiving videos.
It does not affect your text messaging limits in any way, as it uses internet connection for sending/receiving videos.
PS. On iPhone (iOS 7 and up), you can actually go to Settings > Cellular to tell the app to use WiFi only, if needed.

  • Java Mcro Edition and Cell Phone Applications

Hi all, I have made a web based application and I need to add a mobile application in it.
I use a little JME and made I simple application using it.
I want to make a cell phone appl. which connects servlets and transfer data for both sided.
Is JME supprots for all cell phones? or Which of cell phones brands?
    For instance;
if I make I JME application, can I use it an apple iphone or all of cell phones?
Can You give me some information and the way I need to follow?
    Thanks.

It depends on how advanced the midlet will be. If standard components are used, the app should work everywhere, otherwise it need to be tested (it need to be tested always). If You need to write a midlet with Location API You first need to find a device that has this api implemented to test your application and the start writing. One importatnt thing, if a device in it's specification has written that it support Location API it doesn't have to mean that it's supported fully, some functions may not be implemented. As You can see here for instance. If You are not familiar with midlets start with a tutorial for beginners and after finishing try using more advanced APIs.

  • I want to ask if you buy new ideas of computer and cell phones

I have an idea for the desktop computer It will help computer to more better and I am sure that you and all people who will use It will like it .

    Hi Omar,
This site is not read by Apple, though they do control it. It is a user to user help forum.
If you have a good idea but you don't develop a working example of it, simply telling someone else, such as all the people who read these pages, will quickly see your idea taken up by someone else. That may not concern you, but remember credit will not be yours.
If it is an idea for a mobile device(cell phone) app, then maybe learn how you can write it yourself and then you could submit it for sale in the app store.

  • Contact Center Express 8.5 and Cell Phone Agents

Is it possible to setup agents on Cell Phones.  For example:  We have two ATT company IPhones.  We have agents that work offsite on the weekends.  We would like to maintain queuing capablities as well as reporting if possible while having the agents use cell phones.  They will not have access to a laptop or PC.
    Thanks for your feedback guys!

    Hi Joshua,
You can setup Call Forward for agent's phone to agent's cell phone but you won't be able to change status and it's not supported because can cause some issue but at the end is up to you.
