Kde 4.6.1, 4.6.2 widget-folderview, rename a file gives an error.

I already submitted the issue on bugs.kde.org:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=270414
Version:           unspecified (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS:                Linux
When i rename a file using folderview, the file is renamed, but an error is
triggered.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
-place a folderview widget on the desktop
-rename a file from 'oldname' to 'newname'
Actual Results:
- see the error message: "The file or folder oldname does not exist."
- see that the file has been renamed to 'newname'
Expected Results:
Don't throw an unuseful error message, it is clear that 'oldname' does not
exists anymore.
...but it seems that at least someone can't reproduce it on kubuntu packages
------- Comment #1 From Nikos Papas 2011-04-09 18:22:21 -------
I cannot reproduce the error. Using KDE 4.6.2, 64bit, Kubuntu packages.
Can somebody try to reproduce under arch please?
Thank you very much!

I can reproduce this error.
I tried renaming a file in the folder view, and renaming a file in a sub-folder off of the folder view.
In all cases, I got the "does not exist" error, and the re-named file.
Arch: 64-bit
KDE: 4.6.2

  • After KDE 4.4 upgrade screen artifacts on widgets.

    Hi all,
I notice that after the upgrade I get various artifacts on the desktop.
For example: I get a white rectangle behind part of the Quicklaunch  widget. I also get a white rectangle behind part of the CPU monitor widget.
Also every now and then the clock widget will get a orange square around it like it was "selected" .. all very weid stuff.
This happens with or without KMS enabled.
Anyone seen these and knows how to fix them?
    Thanks.

Yes, I can confirm this, some random and some persistent. The persistent ones go away after you've done the action once after starting the graphical server - until you rexorg/reboot. The random ones are just annoying and can range from dragging plasmas to opening a new dolphin window. Here are some common reproduction steps (with compositing enabled):
    1) Arrange menu to be just beside taskbar. Open a dolphin instance. Hover on menu until tooltip is shown, then go on to hover over the dolphin task to bring up the thumbtip (thumbnail-tooltip). There is a noticeable black artifact while doing this.
    2) After a rexorg/reboot, click on the powermanager, devicenotifier, notifier, trash or calender (or anything else in the panel), notice the canvas artifact while the animation is in progress. This is like showing you the canvas outline of the final render when it hasn't even finished drawing.
    3) Open any window with default decoration. The decoration is either a different colour from the canvas of the window, or it is drawn too early. This leaves an inconsistency and visually it appears like a glitch.
All relative to KDE 4.3 and with clean config (so don't try to clear .kde*), which had none of these.
Now, this may be a xorg or graphics driver issue. I'm sure it's not related to DRI or compositing, because without desktop effects, things are way more horrible. I have an Intel with the latest driver and (obviously) KMS. If not, it's the usual glitching which we free software users have to deal with upon semi-major upstream updates.

  • Third party contact form widgets no longer working with upgrade - PHP errors

PHP seems to be even more screwed up with the latest update/upgrade to Muse.  The previous upgrade started producing the following error message when I uploaded my site via FTP:
"1 Warning - Connection to PHP file failed. Unable to check if this web server supports PHP needed by Muse forms. Be sure the domain name entered in the FTP upload dialog is correct."
However, everything worked and in participating in some queries here, it seemed to be an oddity versus anything serious (things still worked but an error message popped up for no real discernible reason)
Since the latest update, however, widgets that I have from two different companies for the purpose of emailing me through the website, sending messages, etc, are no longer working and the following message is displayed upon hitting "submit"
" Form PHP script is missing from web server, or PHP is not configured correctly on your web hosting provider. Check if the form PHP script has been uploaded correctly, then contact your hosting provider about PHP configuration."
In checking with my web host provider, I was told
"the page appears to use the script form-u31652.php which does exist on the
    server.
Unfortunately that error is not specific enough to point us in the right
direction. PHP is indeed working on the server. However, looking at the
apache web server error logs I can see that the contact form appears to be
looking for a file that does not exist.
To trouble shoot this issue you will want to work with Muse to determine
why the sites coding is looking for the file
    /usr/home/NAME/public_html/WEBSITE.com/null."
Any ideas what this means and how to solve this would be great. I've tried re-uploading the entire website, figuring that maybe something wasn't being uploaded via "Modified Only" but it still is happening
    Thanks!

That isn't what ended up fixing it, Sanjit. Thanks to this article PHP FAQ for Muse Synchronized Text and help from an online representative from Adobe, was able to troubleshoot with my web provider. Turns out the problem was that a while back Muse deleted the fcgi-bin directory (probably during the previous upgrade, as that is when the PHP errors started to surface with me and others). And it was never put back by Muse even during a clean/full reupload of the website.  Had to have my web provider do it manually.

  • Is there a date entry widget for XMP custom file info panels?

Looking through the Custom File Info Panels documentation, the samples, and the default info panels presented in Photoshop, I can't find any reference to a date entry widget - the closest I've seen is the date_static_text widget.
Is there any way to present an editable, validating date entry field to our end-users through the File Info panel?
(the info we're wanting to store is a release date so it's user-specified, and not derivable from the file in any way)

    Mark,
The PDF/A extension schema provides a big step to the self-sufficient functionality that you are asking about. It permits the XMP schema description information of custom XMP schemas to be embedded into the XMP as payload so that the file can be opened in years to come and the target metadata acurately interperted. Currently, PDF tools are active candidate to make use of this facility. However, there is nothing preventing future use with other file formats, and other tools (via plug-ins?).
It does not include vocabulary, static text, and panel presentation layout information.
    http://www.pdfa.org/doku.php
It defines a "known" subset of standard XMP properties from the 2001 XMP Spec. Everything else is "custom".
You could craft a custom File Info "template" with the PDF/A extension for your custom XMP fields. Then import the template into each file.
The PDF/A extension schema itself is implemented with multi-dimensional XMP arrays. MetaGrove Plug-in dialog screen shots can be viewed on http://www.poundhillsoftware.net/Acrobat.htm

  • Dashboard widgets are not aligning - what gives?

I have several weather widgets (different cities in the world) that run in Dashboard.
Each time I start up my computer and run the Dashboard, the widgets have moved up/down - basically out of alignment.
This began a few weeks ago and I can't figure it out. I line them up each time into a neat grid, and then after a startup, they are all out of line.
Anyone else have this happen? Any ideas how to fix it?
I have screen shots that I can email if anyone wants to see them.
Leopard 10.5.7 on an iMac 2.8, 4GB RAM.
    Thanks

Trashed both the plist files that resided in ~user/Library/Preferences.
Restarted and the widgets are not aligned in the grid that I set them to.
Arrrrggghhhh ... this is really irritating. Not life-threatening, but irritating.

  • How do I get stickies widget to recognise playlist file?

I am trying to move my dashboard stickies from my old macbook pro on 10.6 to a new imac with 10.7.
I have transferred a file from OSX 10.6 called  "widget-com.apple.widget.stickies.plist" into the preferences folder of my user's library
I confirmed that I want the new file to replace the pre-existing one
When I open the dashboard, the stickies do not appear.
What could i be doing wrong? What do I need to do?
Many thanks in advance to all you clever folks out there.
    Alan

I have also tried as follows:
disabling dashboard with the following commands:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES
    killall Dock
    Then deleting the following files:
widget-com.apple.widget.stickies.plist.lockfile (This file supposedly stops multiple programmes accessing new plist files at the same time to prevent ?file corruption?)
    widget-com.apple.widget.stickies.plist
    Then restarting the computer.
    Then reversing the commands with:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO
    killall Dock
    Then restarting again
Then once logged in, opening dashboard.
It still contains only the previous sticky, even though the plist file contains all the data that I added (It hasnt been overwritten)
Somebody must have the know-how to get dashboard to recognise the plist file? Your hekp would be much appreciated as I really dont want to have to re-write these stickies!

  • Publishing the 'button' widget using the source file

    Hi everyone!
I want to use Captivate 5's 'button' widget, but wanted to change the design of the buttons. The source file I found was located at: Adobe Captivate 5/Gallery/Widgets/Source/ButtonsWidget/Button.fla
The problem is, when I try to publish this source, I get an error that says "/Applications/Adobe Captivate 5/Gallery/Widgets/Source/ButtonsWidget/comp/transformTool/TransformTool.as, Line 1314    Warning: 3553: Function value used where type Boolean was expected.  Possibly the parentheses () are missing after this function reference."
What does this mean? Does anyone know how to publish this widget correctly? Please help!
    Thanks.
    Best regards,

If you are on Windows you can just create a message in Outlook Express, then save it as a .eml file. This is just a plain text file in MIME format. (You can probably do the same from most simple email client apps... except Outlook).
To load this in to a Javamail object, you will still need a Session (which in-turn means you need an SMTP Server, although the server just has to be a valid IP belonging to a computer which is network accessible). I typically use the com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPMessage for simple SMTPMessage operations. You can load this from you .eml file like this:
    FileInputStream fileSource = new FileInputStream(yourEMLFile);
    Session session = Session.getInstance(null, null);
SMTPMessage message = new SMTPMessage(session, fileSource);Or if you want to use the javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage class just use this instead. It has the same session/stream constructor

  • Png type not recognized in widget - how to edit file type?

    Dear all,
I almost got crazy these last hours as a nice widget I am working on suddenly refused to work.
I now understand the source of the problem: the file type of the PNG background image is not "Portable Network Graphics Image" but "Adobe Photoshop PNG".
This causes the widget to refuse to load, apparently.
I can not find a way to edit this (even FileInfo does not propose PNG?)... or to make photoshop produce a generic PNG.
Has anybody encountered this problem and/or has an idea on how to solve it?
I can not imagine that there is no way in mac os x to edit the inner properties of the file..
    THANKS for any hint,
    Olivier.

    Hi
I think there's a similar issue in Fireworks, where the native file format appears to be an extended form of PNG. In Fireworks, there's a file export command, which enables you to create a separate copy of the file in PNG (or any other) format whilst retaining the extended PNG for the master version of the file. I'm not a Photoshop user but I would look to see if there's an "export" command, and I would use it to create a separate PNG version of the file, in the hope that this does not have any of the extensions.

Seems that the Widget browser is a component or utilized with Dreamweaver.

  • Cannot submit widget to Apple Downloads : File size does not match

    Hello all,
    I made a widget to play Go that I finalized yesterday ( http://lesiteajulien.free.fr ).
Unfortunately, I have not succeeded to uploading it to the Apple widget repository, since the submit page keeps returning the following error :
"The filesize from the file you uploaded and the file that is downloaded from the given download URL do NOT match."
But I am absolutely sure that both zip files are the SAME. I downloaded it from my server a few times and compared the size with the original file I'm sending to Apple: they match. So I guess my server is not the cause.
I tryied from various places and with various browsers.
Did anybody have any similar problem while trying to upload a widget ?
    Any idea ?
    Thanks for your help.
    Julien

The sales people at the Apple store told me that Time Machine makes a true restorable system picture of the native HDD during backups.
So I'm surprised when the backup runs through to a reported completion but the final backup size does not match the stated estimate for a "full backup" which is the same as the Macintosh HD used space.
Time Machine automatically excludes some things that aren't needed for a full system restore:  system work files, most logs & caches, trash, some indexes, etc.  So it should be a few GBs less than what's on your system, but of course varies a lot from one Mac to another.
See the tan box in #11 of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions for the gory details.

  • Cannot Start KDE or Gnome

I just did a fresh intel install, installed the companion software, ran the installer to get KDE2 and Gnome on the dt login screen. When I try to open a KDE or Gnome session, It goes back to the login screen. Gives an error message reading the /usr/dt/bin/Xsession file.
    Any ideas here?

I had exactly the same issue using the gnome and kde software on the cd's. I recently did a fresh install, and unchecked these options from the installer. I then downloaded the new gnome 1.4 and it works great. I have not tried any kde installs though.

  • Need help to modify Spry Collapsible Panel js settings

I posted this in the DW forum, but then found this which seems to be more appropriate....sorry if I'm screwing things up....
I would very much appreciate if some could help me get rid of the light blue (cyan?) colored blurred 4-6 px frame that appears around the tabs when they're in focus. Or is this a behaviour built into the browsers?
    TIA
    Dan

    Hi Dan,
I am sorry putting you in the same class as the majority.
In your case you will probably already know that the CSS file contains everything    necessary for styling the widget, and the JavaScript file gives the widget its    functionality.
That is why I give Newbies the advice to definately not touch the JavaScript files.
In your case you are looking at an unwanted border around the selected panel tab. This sounded like a styling matter and, until I have seen an online page containing the problem to prove otherwise, I am staying with my resolution that it is a styling problem. I am even more convinced when I look at a Spry Collapsible Panel that uses the original unadultorated JavaScript and Stylesheets which does not have that problem.
    I hope this helps.
    Ben
BTW, I enjoy these discussions because I learn from them. So please give it back to me and prove me wrong.

no you will not lose any of your data as it only restore your phone settings instead of formatting, in restore factory settings there is two options, 1)restore 2) delete all data and restore, you just have to click on restore (be carefull do not click on delete all data and restore otherwise you'll lose all your data) after restoring just go to ovi suite on your pc and update your phone.
