As per the subject - is it possible to use postgres as the db for akonadi rather than mysql?

[SOLVED] KDE Akonadi nightmare
After a fresh KDE 4.4 install on top of freshly installed Arch, I discovered that Akonadi server fails to start, giving a number of errors, like mysql startup error and the subsequent failure of akonadi to register at dbus, error logs et cetera. Since the Arch installation is probably as vanilla as it gets, it seems to me that the Akonadi package is broken, which makes one wonder what the devs were thinking when they released it. I think I tried every proposed solution that Google has indexed on the web but none worked. Then I found the answer for my problem. I have written it out below in case it is of use to somebody else.
1. In my case, the problem vaguely gave signs of being a mysql problem. Pardus is the only distribution I know that makes Akonadi work (and if you don't want to follow the Arch way, it is the best KDE distribution IMHO), so I replaced the mysql-global.conf in two places - /usr/share/config/akonadi/mysql-global.conf and $HOME/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf. The conf file from Pardus is given below. But there is a small thing to remember: if you ran the akonadi server before, it is best to clean the $HOME/.local/share/akonadi directory. Copy the mysql-global.conf file into that directory after cleaning it and before trying to start the akonadi server again. There are only little differences between the stock arch conf and the one from Pardus and even though I forgot the output of the diff command, it seemed like the error had to do with some bad options passed.
2. The second problem seemed to be resources and it was solved by a suggestion I have found in this forum. In system settings, in the advanced tab, go to KDE resources. Create akonadi resources for contacts and calendar and set them as default. If you want to do something regarding the resources (set something else as default/export/import), you can do so after you successfully start the akonadi server from the akonaditray utility's configuration window. But first you need to be able to start it successfully.
After I did these, Akonadi server starts when I fire up Kontact with no errors. When trying to start it from akonaditray, it sometimes says the resource "outbox" cannot be found, but kmail handles the local outbox well and I have no special desire to start akonadi with akonaditray anyway.
Here is the mysql-global.conf from Pardus. If these suggestions don't work, you might want to check out a Pardus live cd to get other ideas because it is working well there unlike the kubuntu live cd.

Now, I can have a full mysql database to store my all 10-15 contacts. Hooray, I suppose.Yeah that was too short. I meant that if you go to systemsettings->Personal information->Kde resources then tab calendar and check that the configured akonadi resource for the google calendar is not read-only. But that seems to be irrelevant.
For me it works perfectly but I have installed it from git repository! -
Record Set Variables used in PHP and MYSQL model
PHP MYSQL server model.
I'e been using dreamweaver for ages and have allways admired
how well they have kept compatibility between versions. The recent
8.02 release was a little bit of a shock when I had to start
rewriting all my PHP MYSQL recordset queries!
In the bulk of my SQL queries I detect on of two states for a
query parameter and in some queries the parameters are used more
then once. By creating a single variable in for the recordset I've
allways been able to check and recheck the single variable in the
query using the standard recordset. Now in version 8.02 I am
getting the error: Missing type for variable:colname
So where:
SELECT *
FROM links
WHERE LinkID = colname or colname=-1
ORDER BY `Level` DESC
used to work it does not work any more!
I'm being forced to rewrite the query:
SELECT *
FROM links
WHERE colname in (-1,LinkID)
ORDER BY `Level` DESC
Simple enough but where the queries get more complex the more
variables I have to define!
This is not Cool! Can we get a bug fix for this so that I
dont have to rewrite all my queries!
P.S. Since when did anyone say that the Dreamweaver was SQL
injection safe! This issue should have been resolved back in the
Ultradev days! I guess Kudos goes to Adobe for finally trying to
address one of the biggest glaring issues dreamweaver has had since
it's inception. I was allways kinda upset that I was forced to pass
variables as text to sprintf when I knew they where numbers!
If I Look at the resultant code now I'm sure the result
sprintf will still be using %s instead of optionally specifying one
of the many diferent types (

This would further protect a query from being SQL Injected!
I'd hope that Adobe would enable a Site specfic setting or
something that would change the behaviour to match the passed
parameter to sprintf with the specified variable type (I'd guess
best practice to be Numeric be type f Text be type s and Date as
type s as well)Start by saying bump.
I've still no word from Adobe if they are doing anything with
this problem. Any one had any replys from Adobe on it? Any one

the same problem is presented when using SQLServer and MySQL with ADF. There are a few things like 'Refresh After Insert' in the entity objects, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Aside from that the container will expect a unique value to be created when you add a row entity to the ViewObjects iterator and not after you perform an insert.
A workaround i have used is to create a sequences table containing the columns table_name and last_number. Write a helper class which connects to the database in a seperate session increments and updates the last number. The helper class is called by the create method of the entity object to assign your new value to the primary key column.
it's not ideal, but it does work.

KDE system Settings > Mulitmedia (in Hardware category) > Audio and Video options > Audio Playback
the default device shown there is the pulseaudio device, move it to the bottom of the list
Check all sub entries under Audio Playback to make sure they all have default at the bottom.
This SHOULD make KDE sound subsystem use the real hardware directly through Alsa instead of pulseaudio. -
Exception access violation using jlong instead of jint

I'm using Java5 under Windows XP and I'm developing under Eclipse.
I try to use an "old" c-Application accesed via JNI.
Status Quo is that, I have access to the c-side, over my JNI-conform DLL. My current task is to translate the c-side structs to java-objects. This also works, but only with limitation.
Calling methods bidirectional is working, manipulation a java-object is like a walk on an warm and sunny Saturday afternoon.
But I'm not able to use all possible parameters (for now I have tried to use jobject, jstring, jint, jboolean, jlong).
The first problem I had, were using Strings as parameters, but this now I deal with the loopway over java/lang/object (using java/lang/String results in an access_violation).
The next problem, and the harder one, is, that I cannot use the type long or jlong.
int (jint) is no problem, with int all works fine, but if I change the environment, creating and using long, I allways get an the access_violation shown below.
Is there anything, I need to know?

I'm quite sure, the signature is correct. For failure check, yesterday I ran javap to check the signature, but I do also mean, that I changed the signature afterwards for several time. And, it works ;) at least the way, using Integer.
Trying to use java/lang/String everytime I got the Error, that the method could not be found - this is the part, I was wrong in my description. So the error-Message is a different one.
Belonging to the question for assumptions I made... it's difficult. I'm quite new to JNI, so, I don't know, what I can assume to do. The Method call seems to be a kind of reflection-mechanism. So I assume that the behaviour is similar. But reflection I'm not very firm, either ^^.
What I do assume is, that the parameter-value J fits to the java-type jlong. But a work around on this, I will try today. getting the jlong into an char* or using long instead of jlong or using Ljava/lang/Long; or a casted Long as Ljava/lang/Object; ...
I'm anxious to the ideas, I will have, bypassing this point. if there is no way, I will write a file, send a email or something like this ;)

I just found my old ipod touch (i think 1st generation) and would like to let my toddler use it instead of my phone. I would like to modify the behavior for the lookup field.
Normally you get a screen where it is possible to search through a lookup. The items resulted from the search are listed as radiobutton items. Therefore you can select only one at the time to be added.
Is it possible to have the items to be listed as checkbox instead? So that you can check multiple items and therefore be able to add multiple items at the time?
For example:
To add the user to 10 different groups on MS-AD.
It is desired to have the ability to check multiple groups to be added instead only one at the time.
My client would like to use this feature in many other situations.Displaying will not be a big deal but with that you have to customize the action class and its working as well.

For the past few days, I keep getting an invalid security certificate in Safari whenever I select Edit My Site from my website homepage (http://annaporterartist.com), or whenever I select anything requiring a secure log in from my website host main page (FASO.com). I have contacted technical support at my website host (fineartstudioonline.com) and they say that this has been an intermittently recurring problem in Safari for years and they recommend that I use Firefox instead. As proof of this they emailed a link to an Apple Support discussion, but it was for Mac OS X Lion v 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1, even though I told them I am using Mac OS X Mountain Lion v 10.8.2 and Safari 6.0.2. I do not get this error message anywhere else on the web using Safari. I did try Firefox and it seems to work fine, but I prefer Safari and I want to know why Safari is not working as it should be. I am concerned that there is a real security problem with my website host and I need someone to explain why I am getting this error message, what it means, and if it is, in fact, a known problem with Safari or is my website host corrupted? Really tired of technical support playing pass the buck or pretending the problem does not exist.

You must go in the labview option menu, you can select 'use the local
separator' in the front side submenu (LV6i).
If you use the "From Exponential/Fract/Eng" vi, you are able to select this
opton (with a boolean) without changing the labview parameters.

Firefox can't read any Bookmark on my Mac that was imported from my PC with file extension .url. Safari reads them all fine. Is there a fix, so I can use Firefox instead of Safari? Many thanks if so. I have the latest version of Firefox

What are Parameters? How are they differenet from Variables? Why can't we use variables for passing data from one sequnece to another? What is the advantage of using Parameters instead of Variables?

Using the Parameters is the correct method to pass data into and out of a sub sequence. You assign your data to be passed into or out of a Sequence when you are in the Edit Sequence Call dialog and in the Sequence Parameter list.
