KDE installed but doesn't exist!

Just after i fixed my previous problem i now have a problem with my windows manager of choice, KDE.
Now i had installed kde before and used it with the nv driver but now i can't use it at all.
I've recently done a
pacman -Syu
which upgraded all the kde packages. Now things like 'startkde' and 'konqueror' aren't available to run as commands
-bash: konqueror: command not found
but they still exist on the system:
locate -u
locate konqueror
/opt/kde/bin/konqueror
Any ideas what is going on?
Thanks in advance.

I noticed this too, this is because for whatever reason, the profile script (kde.sh) didn't get installed when kde-common got upgraded. However, kde.csh did get installed. I looked up what the package supposedly has in it, and noticed that kde.sh is supposed to exists, so a quick reinstall (pacman -S kde-common) fixed it.
On a side note, this is not the only package that has done this recently, the new courier did this too. That is, on upgrade, some files are mysteriously not extracted, but a forced reinstall fixes it and installs them properly.

You're getting "No such file or directory" errors because you're running a precompiled 32 bit binary on a 64 bit machine without having all the required 32 bit libraries. Try and install every lib32 counter part to the dependencies listed on the AUR page.
I thought it was because of being 64 bit.
I was looking for that dependencies list... where is it?

  • After Effects Says its "Up to Date" But doesn't Exist on my Hard Drive

I recently reconfigured my PC and i went back to reinstall Creative Cloud. Assuming it was a fresh install i proceeded to install it. To my surprise it was the same copy i had before. Ae was still there in the Cloud but isn't on my Physical PC. I attempted to Uninstall a fake program. I attempted to re download the software off the Website. I attempted to completely wipe CC and try again. All attempts resulted in failure. If anybody else has this problem or knows how to fix it please help.

OS? Did AE ever work? What do you mean "reconfigured my PC?" That could be anything.
If all else fails use uninstall the entire Creative Cloud, run the Adobe Cleaner Tool, and re-install. If that doesn't help give us details on the questions asked in the first line of my reply and we may be able to help.

  • Flashplayer installed but doesn't work

I have installed adobe flashplayer as shown below but still I can not see flash objects in webpages.
What is the problem and please give me a URL (that you are sure it has flash object).

In the previous post, it was XP and IE7.0.
When I entered your URL, IE said that this site want to install activex (information bar). It seems that it doesn't installed in my computer. So I allowed him to install. After that I see the flash animation in the site.
I then tried with windows 7 and IE8.0. First I installed http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe. I couldn't install from adobe site because the adobe downlaod manager says "server error" at anytime! So I decieded to use offline installer. After installing that file, I again entered your URL and again the "information bar" appeared and wanted to install the flash. I allowed him and now every thing is ok.
I have a very serious critic to adobe and that is why it doesn't have an offline installer like many other software. Why abode doesn't provide a 2.45MB file that can be downlaoded and installed at any time (offline)

  • Says installed, but doesn't work

I have tried installing Flash Player and get a notification that it's installed successfully, but then doesn't show up in Finder, and applications keeps saying that I need to install Flash Player.

Do you see an animation and version number when you visit this page?
    Flash Player Version
Are you using Safari for your browsing?  You mention Finder, did you look in your /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ folder?

  • Flash 10.2.159 installed but doesn't play

Doing my best to provide question and system info:
Finally got Flash Player 10.2.159.1 to install.  I can see the rotating logo on your "about" page.  However, cannot get video to play on other sites, including AOL, where it worked before.
    I am running:
HP laptop on unsecured network.  64-bit machine.  32bit IE9 version 9.0.8112.16421 which was installed two days ago (4/20) and started the problem. Have deliberately invoked IE9 from start menu to insure using 32bit version.
I have uninstalled Flash, reinstalled, rebooted, etc. multiple times.  Have tried both Manager and manual install.  Last was via Manager.
I have no "kill bit" entry in the registry (did not delete, it wasn't there).
I have no install error log.
    Files in windows/syswow64/macromed/Flash/
        Flash10p.ocx
        FlashInstall.txt
        FlashUtil10p_ActiveX.dll
        FlashUtil10p_ActiveX.exe
IE9 Manage Addons shows Adobe Shockwave Flash Object enabled, but with blank load time.
I run Norton Utilities (v 14.5.0.120) and Norton Internet Security (v 18.5.0.125).  I have had no virus/malware/etc. errors since buying machine.
Cannot find any means in these packages to check on pop-up blockers.  But don't see any notices of any, either.  Registry analysis under Utilities shows no errors
I turned off the hardware accelerator.
I admit to being a mainframe programmer with little knowledge of PCs but have read other posts and tried to follow instructions. So, not knowledgable but may be capable.
Wouldn't have your job for all the tea in China, but will appreciate any help or suggestions.  Currently unemployed and would really rather avoid $40 fee.

    Oh for crying out loud.
This appears to have solved the problem.  AOL videos and others now work.  Thank you.
Maybe this could be added to the instructions on installation/troubleshooting?  Seems much simpler than checking kill bits in the registry.

  • Adobe flash player 10.3 is installed but doesn't appear in plug-ins:what else do I need to do to play videos?

Until a few months ago I was able to play videos in e-mails on my desktop computer, running on windows XP, through Verizon FIOS. Then I kept getting the message that I needed Adobe Flash Player 9.0. I have downloaded the latest version, Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.1, several times, getting the message from Adobe that I am now running that program. However, when I try to play a video, I still get the message that the the plug-in isn't installed, and the table of plug-ins doesn't include Adobe Flash Player. Is there something else that must be done to make the (presumably) installed program active? If so, what is it?

Sorry, Firefox 4 is not compatible with Flash for Android.
We're starting work to possibly support Flash for Android in a future version of Firefox. For details, see: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Fennec/Features/Plugins

  • V 1.0 Installed but doesn't work properly (crashes or closes)

I successfully installed v 1.0 after uninstalling the beta. I didn't use the beta much so I had no libraries to import.
I imported a folder as a test. The images imported fine. I could go to Slideshow and Library. But when I tried to go to Develop or Print the program would hang with the processor locked at 100%.
    This happened several times.
I then rebooted hoping that would help. Unfortunately it's worse. Now I can still only go to Slideshow or Library. BUT, it also closes itself after about 45 seconds of being open.
Also, after coming back from the reboot the shortcut icon on the desktop was missing (don't know if that's connected to the problem).
I'm running XP with 1 Gig of RAM. I also have PSCS2 and PSE3--(my old cataloging software!)
I reviewed any FAQs I could find and didn't see reference to this problem.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Fixed it! Lightroom is NOT compatible with NVidia NView desktop manager.
I don't even know what the desktop manager does! (It came preinstalled on my PC...It didn't have any problem with the betas of Lightroom!) But I had a message from the manager stating that it detected a problem. I turned off the NView desktop and everything works fine now.
Well, except my active desktop that got messed up early in this process. I can live with that problem though...

I cannot explain it other than to tell you the current recommendations are to keep java turned off and there are no other posts like yours that claim they need it on (at least that I have seen).  Also I have it off on my system and flash plays with no problems in all the sites I go to (modulo some buffering problems sometimes with certain hi-res videos on only youtube).
Did you install the latests flash player downloaded directly from the adobe site?
Maybe you have a flash storage or cookie problem.  Those can be cleared and deleted with the Flash Player system preferences.
It's your decision on whether you want to take your chances with Java on rather than find the root of the problem.  If you do that then at a minimum make sure you have latest apple java updates, I recommend you install and learn about Little Snitch, and use OpenDNS DNS servers (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220).

  • Trial version of Photoshop Elements 9 installed but doesn't run.

I recently installed Photoshop Elements 9 on computer running Windows 7 and it installed correctly.  When I try to run edit or organzer the flashing bar starts but neither program runs.  Adobe support wouldn't help since it was a trial version. Any suggestions?

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Organizer and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop.
On Windows right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
    Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Organizer application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
Inside the Adobe >> Photoshop Elements Organizer (yellow folder) you are looking for an application file “PhotoshopEementsOrganizer” with six small icons (e.g. representing thumbnails)
    Select it and click OK
    Click next
Rename by taking out Photoshop Elements leaving just the word Organizer
    Then click finish
You should now be able to launch directly form the desktop by double clicking on the icon.
You can set up a similar direct link to the Editor application (.exe file which has the blue PSE icon). As before take out Photoshop Elements just leaving the description Editor and it will show up clearly on the desktop.
It often helps if you right click on a desktop icon and choose “Run As administrator”

  • DVD/CD Disc Drive Installed, But Doesn't Recognize Disc In Tray

I've spent hours and hours trying to fix it, and have found nothing really worthwhile online. I'm coming here in the outside chance someone else may have experienced something similar.
Basically, my Windows 7 laptop will no longer allow me to play dvd/cds (burned or store bought). The drive shows up in My Computer, is enabled, bios look good, etc, etc, but if I put a disc in it never autoruns or shows up with the disc name in My Computer,
and if I double click the disc drive I get a "please insert disc" dialogue box and the drive door pops open. I've tried absolutely everything I can think of, and (for what it's worth) I don't think its a hardware issue because after I sent my computer off
to Samsung for this same repair it came back completely reformatted the disc drive worked for a second. Then I started getting rid of some of the bloat ware in here (bought it at best buy... big mistake) again, and it shut down.
Here's what I've done or tried so far:
    - Uninstall, reinstall the drive
    - Updated the drivers
    - Updated dvd/cd drive firmware
    - Ran Microsoft's "Fix it" utility
    - Cleaned the lenses/laser
    - Remapped the drive to a different letter/path
    - Checked registry to ensure filters weren't an issue (the upper and lower)
    - Restored the laptop back to just after I received it back from the Samsung repair people (didn't work)
    - Undid the restore
    - Checked BIOS (I'm by no means BIOS-savvy, but it appeared that everything was in line with what folks were saying it should be)
And probably a few other things I'm forgetting. This is driving me crazy. I just started an online grad class and can't really feasibly send my computer back right now.
Anyone experience anything similar or know of some super magical solution?

    s3,
Going to your point of "starting an online....", the quick fix (not magical) would be to get a cheap external that would work.  If it were my 'puter I'd bring it with me, get the external (and seeing as how you went to BB go back to the same
one) obtain the one you want, have that Geek Squad rep install it for ya right there, No, there should be no dropping it off, USB hookups are quick.  You might have to spend a coupla' minutes there though.  It works...Great, it don't then have them
find one in your price range...put the onus on them....they sold it to you, have them figger' it out!!!!  :=))

I am trying to get an App installed correctly. I thought everything went okay, but the app disappeared. Under apps installed on my phone(iTunes) it shows up as checked. Is there a way for me to completely get rid of all traces of the app on my phone to get it working?

    Thanx alot

The SMF service is certainly in maintenance state, right ?
If this is the case, then follow this quick procedure to configure the server :
    1 - # svcadm disable webmin
2 - Run the setup tool to build the miniserv.conf file :
    # /usr/bin/webminsetup
3 - Check if the SMF service is still present. If not run this command to reimport the manifest :
    # svccfg import /lib/svc/manifest/application/management/webmin.xml
    4 - Start the SMF service :
    # svcadm enable webmin
    - Pascal

I downloaded the AVG toolbar and search engine. My computer says it installed - only it does not appear when I open Firefox. For what is it worth, when I downloaded it on my Admin acct (same computer) it worked fine, but didn't transfer to my standard acct.

    Hi myrt4sw,
The standard account may have a different profile? Once the avg is downloaded for the standard account, in the new style you can place the add on to the toolbar with the "Customize" option on the three horizontal line menu.

  • Problem with adobe flash player, it's installed but doesn't work....

I have Windows 7 -  Internet Explorer 9 with both 32 and 64 - 32 being the main one used.
It's 4 months old and has worked beautifully up till a couple of days ago when trying to get into Mathletics website it tells me Javascript is diabled.  Please turn on Javascript to access Mathletics website, then it comes up with
    Mathletics Minimum Requirement
To view this website, Flash Player 9 or above is required. You can download the latest one for free from Adobe by clicking the image below:
We haven't touched Flash Player or Javascript so I don't know why all of a sudden this has happened after using it without any problems for 4 months.
Anyway I've checked all the suggestions re Internet Options Security (custom level etc) and checked Internet Options Programs manage add-ons, and checked under ?Help that we're running IE (without 64bit showing).  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the current Flash Player version several times, and when I check http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ it shows I have version 10,3,181,34 installed, I've even copied across from my last backup the version which worked before these problems.  I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Java.
    Can someone please help.

    thanks for the explanation.
I think I will leave ActiveX Filtering enabled.  I have added the mathletics webiste to my restricted sites (tools, internet options, security, restricted sites) and have changed the custom level to ActiveX Filtering disabled, and I have also changed the (top right hand corner) content filtering to read "no content is filtered on this site".
Is this ok that I do that?
However, it hasn't rectified my problem.
I see there are quite a few people that seem to be having the same or similar problem with Windows 7 / IE9 and Flash Player, is it possible there's a bug?
Yes I do have Citrix installed, will contact them about that problem - thanks.
    Thanks
