KDE & International Languages & Spelling

I have two questions related to KDE's support of international (other than English) languages and one related to XFree86's configuration file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4:
Question 1
I have aspell/ispell dictionaries installed (other than English) but they do NOT appear in
K -> Settings -> Control Center -> KDE Components -> Spell Checker -> Dictionary
Only English dictionaries appear there.
In this way I do not have spelling support in KDE applications.
Question 2
How do I add Languages in KDE?
In
K -> Settings -> Control Center -> Regional & Accessibility -> Country/Region & Language -> Locale -> Languages: English US -> Add Language
only "English US" is available.
Question 3
How do I pass the Switching Option (Policy)
available in
K -> Settings -> Control Center -> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Layout -> Switching Options
to the file
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4
Cheers!

In order to add more language to the spellchecker you have to install them
pacman -Ss aspell
for the list of the avail dictionary package, by modifing one of the existing PKGBUILD you can easyly add your language if it is missing.
The same for kde language
pacman -Ss kde-i18n
this give you the list of the avail language
They are all kde 3.2.1, do not worry they work as well with 3.2.3.
If it complains about missing dependencies (for kde language) force the installation, ie
pacman -Sf kde-i18n-it
this force the installation of the italian pack for kde.

  • ADRMAS and international language versions for Bus Partners

How will MDM address international language versions for vendor masters?  Will it allow for matching on the these at this time?  Will it copy from load client store in central repository and pass back down to other R/3 and legacy systems?

On Master Data Server (MDS) a Third Party Tool to check country-specific postal data can be connected. However these checks are only possible in the Enterprise Portal User Interface. It will not work during Consolidation (Upload from clients to MDS).

  • Multiple language spelling checking

    Hello everyone
I am writing to ask an advice on how to enable multiple language spelling checking.
What i mean is that when i write in russian, Pages automatically checks my spelling but when I write in english it just underlines every single word. So i would like to know if there is a way to turn on language spelling check for both russian and english as i am a student now and i need to do my english homework in english language.
    Thanks, Alex.

Language is a text attribute like bolding, font, color etc. and can be part of a style.
So you can have Russian styled text and English styled text. Select the appropriate text and:
    +Inspector > Text > More > Language+
Pages should then use the appropriate dictionary to check the text.

  • International Language Support - locale

Under Solaris 8 I install many international language locales. These included packages 32 and 64 bit versions, such as: SUNW5lue, SUNWweuos.. I install over 100 different locales, many double byte, for Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Latvian and many others.
I am unable to find these packages for Solaris 10. I have the Language CD but they are not there.
Where can I find these locales?
    Thanks

It sounds like there are really two sets of questions here. First, how do you configure Workshop Studio to accept a project that doesn't conform to a WAR/EAR structure? Second, how do you develop localized Struts web apps in Workshop Studio?
The current version of Workshop Studio works best with one web application per project in more of a WAR structure. When AppXRay analyzes the project it searches for the WEB-INF/web.xml and tries to establish the webroot. Most likely the /web-common folder is your webroot and the /web-?? folders are not being validated. The next release of Workshop Studio is much more flexible in types of project layouts that it will accept and validate. Based on the information you have already provided about the project, this should work well with the new enhancements.
Regarding developing the international sites, have you considered taking advantage of Struts resource bundles as a means of managing localization? Without knowing more about the project its hard to tell if this is possible. If the localized pages basically identical, I can imagine anytime you want to make even a small change to these pages it could turn into a labor intensive process.
Fortunately, Workshop Studio simplifies development of Struts/JSF resource bundles and localization. The JSP design views render resouce bundle values on the fly. AppXRay provides code completion for resource bundle keys at the page level, provides hyperlink navigation to the resource key definitions, and validates usage against the property file definitions. You can also switch the rendering to a different locale in the IDE through the Text menu -> Resource Locale.. option. At that point all of your interactions would update the property file for the selected region.
To see more of this in action, check out the Struts flash demo on Dev2Ddev http://dev2dev.bea.com/downloads/StrutsDemo/StrutsDemo.html

  • International Languages partially working

    Dear Apple Discussions,
when I go into System Preferences -> International -> Languages and choose one other than English the changes are only partial.
For example, when I change to Japanese some of the apps. in the Application folder have the Japanese name. However none of the toolbar or input menus are in Japanese.
I have tried this in a new account as well with the same effect.
Also zapped the PRAM and NVRAM just for kicks.
I think remember having installed all the Languages since it didn't add that much to the disk usage. Besides, if it is partially working isn't that an indication of having it installed?
Is there some way of checking to see whether I have the languages installed?
    Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving

    Thanks for the quick response
The Japanese was only an example. However, it is relevant since I was wanting too show it to a Japanese colleague of mine. Not even my Finder is translated into Japanese.
However said colleague's new MacBook also running Leopard does show it in Japanese.
When I go into the Package Contents of the Finder I only find the English.lproj folder. Does this mean I didn't install the international languages after all? If not, then why do some of the apps. like Dictionary change their name if I switch to Japanese?

  • SWEDISH Language Spelling

I need Swedish and English spelling
I am a new from PC to Mac user Experienced with Microsoft word and excel. Hope to only use IWORK now
    br/Dufomac

    Hi Dufomac,
Welcome to the world of Mac!
Pages (and other iWork applications) has their dictionary ties to your Mac's international settings. Go to *System Preferences > International* and check (the list on the left) if you have Svenska installed in your system. (If you don't, you can click on *Edit List...* to add Svenska to the list.) If you prefer, you can drag it to the topmost of the list, making it the 'default' first-choice language for your Mac.
Once you set the language, the language in Pages will be automatically set to Svenska the next time you start Pages. However, if it doesn't, you can set the document's language by going to the *Text Inspector > More*, and select Svenska from the Language drop-down menu.

  • Reset "international language" in system preferences?

    hi
on one of my client macs is a really funny display of:
    http://www.usz.tu-darmstadt.de/images/Fotos/bildersportangebot/bild%202.jpg
normally it should look like this:
    http://www.askdavetaylor.com/1-blog-pics/mac-system-preferences-international-in put-menu.png
what can i do to repair this client? is there an ability to delete a com.apple.language.plist or something like that?
    thanks!
    mac monnem

thats the point! that doenst all doesnt work!
    1. it should look like that: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/1-blog-pics/mac-system-preferences-international-in put-menu.png
but it looks like that: http://www.usz.tu-darmstadt.de/images/Fotos/bildersportangebot/bild%202.jpg
    2. if i try to change in the input menu to choose only german or in the language menu ( http://developer.apple.com/documentation/MacOSX/Conceptual/BPInternational/Artic les/art/intlprefpane.gif ) to change to germat, respectivly, it only works till the next restart.
    3. the panel in the input menu to choose character palette / japanese kana palette / keyboard viewer NEVER appears.
thats why i asked for a way to reset the complete international prefane, that it looks like factory setting.

  • International languages won't stay.

Hey all! I have this weird problem that isn't harmful, but has been bugging me. In my International preferences-->Input Menu, I have British and Chinese (simplified) enabled, but no US. Whenever I reboot the Mac, it will always revert to US, which is quite irritating. Any ideas? TIA!

You could try running the language chooser again by opening Terminal and typing:
    sudo "/System/Library/CoreServices/Language Chooser.app/Contents/MacOS/Language Chooser"

  • How do I stop international language from appearing in some Safari windows?

After selecting Polytonic Greek as one of the languages for use in composing text (MS Word), I found that Greek appeared as the default language in certain Safari windows, typically those (like a university email account I use) that are configurable for people of many nationalities. It's maybe worth noting that when Greek appeared in my Mac's language menu, it appeared above US English, unlike the other languages I use.
None of the following have fixed the problem:
--Deselecting Greek and restarting/shutting down (multiple times)
--Clearing the cache and history in Safari (multiple times)
--Running Disk Warrior and Drive Genius, my standard system maintenance software
How can I get rid of this now unwelcome language?

I found Greek at the top of the language list, above English. I think that made it the default language in certain circumstances.
Yes, having Greek at the top of that list does several things: Any app which has a Greek version will open with its menus and dialogues in that language. If you have installed a Greek spell checker, that will become the default in all Apple apps. And Safari will ask for the Greek version of any web site that offers that as an option. On the list, Greek appears as Ελληνικά.

  • How can I change the internal language of an app?

So I have seen that some app under their description say that they support multiple languages. I have downloaded some Japanese apps that say that they are available in english, should it automaticly change to english or is there suppose to be some in app function to change it?

If an app supports multi-language, then the app itself should have a setting for changing it to another language.
However, there is the possibility that some of these apps don't default to the current OS language, ie show English when your OS language is English. It still starts with Japanese as the default language; and the wording of "language" setting itself maybe in Japanese.
What you can do is launch google.com/translate, type into left hand panel "Settings" or "Languange Settings", then on the right hand panel, choose translate language as Japanese. Now you should see what "Settings" would look like in Japanese.
    For example:
Settings   ==>  設定 (I copy and pasted from Google translate)
    Language Settings ==>  言語設定
    English ==> 英語
    American English ==> 米語
and so on. Or you can look to see if there's anyway to contact the app developer and ask them where have they placed the language settings.

  • International languages don't appear on iPod

In iTunes I have songs named in Hebrew but when I view those songs on iPod their names are blank. Are there any plans to have future firmware supposed non-English characters such as Hebrew?

The iPod doesn't officially support the Hebrew language but there is this:

You might want to put a suggestion to Apple here.

  • Q10 Less International Language Support Than 9700

My eralier posting is wrong. Noticed that Q10 displays Armenian Fonts clearly but not in Facebook Application. Therefore I must contact 3-rd party (i.e. Facebook).
    Sorry for the wrong info.
I have a Blackberry 9700 and displays the Armenain Fonts clearly.
I bought Q10 recently and noticed that it doesn't display the Armenian Fonts, just squares with 2 diagonal lines.
Recent update (10.2.0.424) even didn't help.
Old technology 9700 seems superior than Q10

Yes, iWork comes with both English and Japanese localizations and should switch automatically to Japanese if your wife's OS X account has the system language set to Japanese. You can probably also have it run in Japanese without the system being that way by unchecking English in the Languages tab of Get Info for the program you are using. One copy is fine.
