Huh? What magic password does it want? User and root doesn't work.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Assuming you have installed your printer onto your home wireless network, your iPad Application is asking for your Wireless passphrass / password to your network.
Reference: HP Deskjet 2540 series User Guide
See Page 49

Take a look at the following:
Add Device to Printer
You need the first part for Printer Software for your printer and you need "An App for That" in the Mobile printing section where you complete Steps 1-2-3.
Skip all the parts in the middle having to do with ePrint and HP Connected -- your printer does not have ePrint so you don't need to worry about any of that.

Printer keeps asking for a password when printing in safari or firefox

Hello I'm new to the Mac. I have been a PC User for over 30 years.
Here is my issue. I print in safari or Firefox and every time it asks for a password from the user. I click remember the key but everytime it pops up when I want to print.
How do I fix this.

If the old ID is yours, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Normally you will be asked to confirm software installation and updates, which is what that window should be for. However, the "Name" is the "User" name as shown in System Preferences > Users & Groups. Is "apple" your User name? If not, try entering what your User name is and then the password that goes with it.

How do I "Authenticate" an HP F4180 printer. It asks for a password. Macbook is asking for this.

I have a new MacBook Air on my home network with a hardwired HPF4180 all in one connected to a HP Computer. The network recognizes the printer but it wants a name and password. to authenticate the printer. It has never asked for a password before on any computer or network. The Dell laptop recognizes the printer in the control panel settings. I have downloaded the drivers for the 4180 to the Macbook Air. It says the printer is ready, then requires the name and passord.

I need to reset my Apple ID on my ipad. My internet provider was bought by another company, so my user name changed. So now, when I go into itunes or the app store, I cannot update anything because it asks for my password, but not my apple id.

My internet provider changed, so my username changed. I need to be able to reset my appleid NOT my password. I can't find a way to do this. Here is a scenario. I want to go into the app store to update apps, so a box pops up asking for my password, but shows my appleid as the old name. I have reset the appleid on my mac and itunes at home and works there, but when I try to go into things on the ipad, it automatically comes up with a window asking for my password, but for my old id name. I went to the manage your id section, but it won't let me in because it wants the password to the old name. So I think I need to reregister the ipad with my new userid. Icloud, Itunes, app store, everything like that won't let me in because they still show the user id as the old name.

On the iPad - go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap on your old ID and sign out. Then sign in with your changed/new ID.

KDE Printer Manager fails with "client-error-bad-request"

I'm having some trouble with printing on my system. The KDE printer manager shows "client-error-bad-request" and no other information. When I run the KCM from the command line, I also get "kcmshell(17286) KCupsRequest::serverError: status unrecognised: 1024" on the console. I wasn't able to find any useful information on this issue on google or these forums; not even what the 1024 status code means. It seems to me that this may be a bug in the kcm_printer_manager module, but I'd like to rule out other possibilities first. Unfortunately, I don't know what to try from here. I'll provide as much potentially relevant information as I can think of below.
Changes since last successful print job:
Multiple updates to KDE packages
Update to cups that changed systemd unit file names.
Stopped and disbled old units
daemon-reload
Enable and start new units
Other updates to cups since then, if I recall correctly.
Packages and versions:
kdeutils-print-manager 4.14.3-1 (owns kcm_printer_manager module for kcmshell4)
kdebase-runtime 4.14.3-1 (owns kcmshell4 binary)
cups 2.0.1-1
libcups 2.0.1-1
systemd 218-1
linux 3.17.6-1

You need to go to Manage your Apple ID, https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/, and sign in with your current Apple ID and password and do the following:
1.     Edit your current Apple ID and change it back to the ID which is displaying for your iCloud account. You do not need to verify it - this is only a temporary change
2.     Go into Settings>iCloud on your device and delete the iCloud account. Use your current password when your are prompted for a password
3.     Once the old iCloud account is deleted, go back into Manage your Apple ID and change your ID back to the current one
4.     Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with your current ID and password
That should take care of your issue!

I have downloaded oracle 9i personal and have manged to install it, however everytime it asks me for my password, i enter it but it refuses to log me on. I was not ask to set a password up when i installed it so i am asuming my password is that which i use for oracle store. Do i need to purchase something to get a key to logon to the database. R Jones I have the same problem. Running Windows-ME. Oracle9i installs without any complaints.
I bypassed all configuration setup because it was 'supposedly' optional and because
I had no idea of what to enter in many fields. When I fire-up SQL-plus, a login window
pops up asking for username, password, and hoststring. I tried predefined login/password
combinations SYSTEM/MANAGER and SCOTT/TIGER, but entered no host string,
and get an oracle error message 'protocol adapter error'.
If I bypass the login by entering command line string 'sqlplus.exe /NOLOG', I get
oracle error message 'not connected' whenever I try to execute an SQL statement.
What am I missing in my configuration setup, OR is there an incompatibility with Windows-ME ?

Again, is the printer finding your routers SSID? Input the password for your network and connect. You need to be much more detailed on your setup and troubleshooting steps.
