Kde root login no longer present(Solved with set true kdmrc)

How to enable root log-in in Kde log-in window.
Window shows Root
Password......
Upon entry of password, error message says :
!root logins not allowed.
What change is necessary to allow root log-in?

I hope these comments will be helpful. I'm not quite certain what you're problem is with your root account.
1. Give your root account a root password. Log in as root, and run:
passwd root
You can get to this console by pressing the tri-chord:
Alt-Ctrl-Fn
where Fn is F1 ... F7 (or whatever consoles you've set up in '/etc/inittab') and then logging in.
2. You should be able to run KDE as root or as a regular user if you log into root or your regular user account. If you're starting from a console, you'll need to run 'startx', of course. You may need to stop the already running X instance: run 'init 3' as root. To restart X, run 'init 5' as root. This should take you to the KDE login.
3. Once you have KDE up and running, go to the KDE Control Center->System Administrator->Login Manager. To change the login you'll need to have administrative ('root') privileges (that's why you'll need a root password). You'll see a button in the lower left corner of the Login Manager screen to give you 'Administrator Mode'. You should see in the 'Users' tab a list of login users with options to hide and set icons in login screen. Make certain that 'root' is marked appropriately here.
4. After you've done your KDE Control Center configuration for the KDE login, you should be able to log out and restart KDE with a root user as an option.

I just tried it again and this time a different message showed up "The iPod 'name' cannot be synced. The required folder cannot be found." I have no clue what folder it could be talking about.

Root login

Hello all,
I've a problem with root login password in Solaris.
After I installed a patch the root password became empty, so to login as root I don't have to type any password, just username: root.
I've tried the passwd command but it still doesn't work, it asks for password when I type su but still automatically logs in with root username and don't ask the password ...
Does anyone knows how can I solve this?

Have you check the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow file status. try running pwconv command and try set a password

KDE4 login manager is disabled [SOLVED]

I've updated two of my systems to KDE4.1 and both have the same problem: Login Manager is disabled (grayed out)
With that I cannot change any settings. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

OK. That did the trick!!
I enabled root log in and then I was able to customize the theme and get a whole lot of the other settings working.

There are yet a number of other things that do not work but ... I got KDE to at least not look ugly.
Quanta, which I use on a daily basis does not work by default but one of the devs was nice enough to put a package build up, so that's fixed ... (sort of, when Quanta starts it complains that a bunch of plug-ins are missing... but the "key" components are running )

Can no longer print wireless with PHotosmart Premium 410C. Used to print wirelessly no longer.

Print out from printer button says it is all connect with network named, IP address etc. I also cannot print from my cell phone via email any longer. Any ideas Set up with Windows Vista.

Run the print and scan doctor and check the results.

I can no longer "duplex print" with my Konica-Minolta Magicolor 3100!

In the dialog box for setting up my printer to print, the option "single-sided/double-sided" is no longer present. As far as I know, my 3100 PPD is version 1.0.2, created 11/16/2001. (In the "en.lproj" folder inside the "Resources" folder) Up to now, with earler OS versions, my printer's duplex function worked fine. Now, it's gone. Any clues, anyone? I really do miss the old "Printer Setup" utility. Ah, the price of progress!

It looks like I was wrong. I still can print on both sides, it's just presented in a different (and unfamiliar) way through the print dialog. And I'm not given the option of "long edge" or "short edge" double-sided printing like before, but at least I can still do it, and the latter may just be a matter of page setup prior to printing. So thanks for all your help, everyone!

By the way I didn't mistype anything in case you wanted to ask.
It seems every time Apple tries to merge an iPhone app with OS X it creates problems.

An additional note... I realized later that the iCloud id with which I was signed into the MacBook was now different ([email protected]), when I got errors trying to sign into FaceTime with [email protected] However, when I sign into FaceTime using [email protected] (same as the iCloud login), FaceTime works fine.

Cuda_supported_cards.txt no longer present in CC 2014 Premiere Pro, After Effects Folders

I'm on a "gaming" Win laptop using one of the latest nVidia GPU's, the GTX 880M. Being new--year old really new?--, I had to add it to the list contained in cuda_supported_cards.txt for Pr, AE and AME. With the newest CC 2014 update, these .txt files are no longer present in their respective program folders.
Does this mean that the programs no longer differentiate? If they see CUDA cores they enable the acceleration? Or does this mean they stopped the end-user from by-passing their filters? How to verify if I'm getting the acceleration? I recall having the feature greyed out in previous versions of these programs if I hadn't yet edited the list, and at the moment they are not greyed out despite not having found a list to edit.
I've searched for mention of this change in newest version but have yet found a discussion.

@caragam, if the songs are no longer in your purchase history it means either they have been hidden or the original items are no longer available for sale on the iTunes Store or you are logged into the store with a different Apple ID.
To see if they have been hidden in iTunes pull down Store > View my AppleID. Enter your password when prompted. In the middle of the screen, click "view hidden purchases." See if the purchased items are here. If they are unhide them and go back to your purchase history and re-download them.
If the purchases are not hidden and you do not have a backup then the songs are gone and there is no way to recover them. This is why we keep backups.
If you used a different Apple ID to purchase the song, log out of the store and log in with the appropriate Apple ID and download the song. Be aware this could trigger a 90 day lock out of the other store account so make sure you really, really want that song.

I'm trying to create a custom web form for my companies portal and I'm facing the following problem:
I can create create articles with my new webform and everything is fine, but when the XSL Transformation is happing (eg. for viewing the content) i got following exception:
Cannot render container : com.sap.engine.lib.xml.util.NestedException: org.w3c.dom.DOMException: Root Element is already present, cannot be appended as a child. -> org.w3c.dom.DOMException: Root Element is already present, cannot be appended as a child.
I don't understand of which root element the parser is talking. Unfortunately I can't find any additional info to this.

Solaris 11 AutoInstaller service profile for ssh to enable root logins?

I have got a basic system configuration profile that sets various things for my newly installed solaris 11 client.
I was curious if anyone has a xml service configuration declaration I could use that configures the ssh service to allow remote root logins.
I'd appreciate it.

SSH configuration is not held in SMF but in /etc/ssh/sshd_config so it is not currently possible to use just an AI/SC manifest & profile to do what you ask.
You need do deliver an updated /etc/ssh/sshd_config file with "PermitRootLogin yes", you will also need to have your SC profile setup so that the root account is not configured as a role. Y
ou can deliver the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file either in an IPS package or you could do it with a custom [first boot script|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26502_01/html/E28980/firstboot-1.html#scrolltoc] or use a software_type of archive in your AI manifest to deliver it via cpio/tar.

The upper toolbar is no longer present !

Hi, like millions of people I also use Adobe Reader; impossible to work without it!.
I have always been fully satisfied with it but from a couple of days I have an annoying problem.
The first thing I noted is that the usual PDF icon in a folder was changed (Images 1 and 2). Then, when I opened a PDF the upper toolbar was no longer present (Images 3 and 4) and when I tried to do something it happened what you can see in Image 5. Moreover I have observed that you can no more change the size of the window by dragging its right side and that to close the folder you have to use the PDF icon of toolbar at the bottom of the desktop.
I hope very much you can suggest something to fix the problem even though I fear that it may be a virus that (despite Kaspersky) has infected my computer !!

Pressing F9 key should bring back the menu bar. Also, if you have Kaspersky installed on your machine you might need to uninstall or downgrade as there is known conflict because of kaspersky:: Kaspersky Lab Forum > Bug: KIS version 15.0.0.463 patch B Acrobat Reader XI
