View on ipad a website offline

Hi all
I have a website that for various reasons, i have to carry with me as catalog.
Is there any app that would read the site and open the right page when i click on a link? Since the site is offline and i have all the links to other pages as local; i guess that it won't work.
I cannot put the site online, otherwise the problem would be solved; and each page has many sub pages (is a catalog after all, with pictures and data for each item, divided in many categories and sections), so i cannot convert them in pdf files or other formats since they are interconnected (to make an example; a car door requires specific washer and screws, that requires particular tools, and so on; so each part needs to display other parts correlated).
Is there any app that let me load a folder full of html pages and pictures, and read it as i would do on my computer? (start from index.html and from there read the local links to open pages and show images).
I have goodreader, but it works with a singular page

I understand that is easier to post the site on the web, but i have 2 main reasons:
1) the content of the site cannot be seen other than to people that sign the NDA; so i cannot post anything online, even if i protect the pages with login access (this will be resolved once that the products goes public)
2) in many places where i go, there is no internet connection available (and i don't want a 3g ipad because i gotta pay subscription to browse...and 3g is also not available everywhere); I could bring the laptop with me but it is heavy and compared to the ipad is a mammoth
I've found a software that can download pages and link them locally, but you have to download the site, and cannot simply copy the folder on the ipad; so i am back to square 1
BTW i do not need a site sucker or offline browser, but a software that can store a site on the ipad (without being a webserver, i don't need to serve content to anyone other than the ipad itself), and can let me to browse it, without going one page at time.
The biggest problem of the software that you suggested is that they do not save the links on a page, so if i have page A that has a link to products on page B and prices on page C, i cannot click on the link on page A, but gotta manually load page B and C....this nullify the nature itself of the HTML since is not a hypertext anymore but just a bunch of pages, like in a regular word or pdf document.
now even a 386 running windows 3.11 can display local websites; and i don't get it how is possible that a more advanced device like the ipad, with a powerful cpu cannot manage HTML hyperlinks...the only answer that came up i my mind is that nobody needs this feature so nobody wrote an api to support local browsing.
anyway my hunt continue....hopefully i do not have to write by myself an app that does what i need; even because to use it i have no other option than putting it on the store (99 bucks); and this is hilarious...to ahve to pay to run my own software on my own device

FTP Website Offline, Not Sure How to Bring It Back Up

Since you are open to alternative solutions, try SynaMan. It is a replacement for FTP. You can install it on your existing file server (Windows, Linux or Mac) and let your clients upload/download files.
All you will have to do is configure your network firewall so your clients can connect from the Internet. Call our support department if you need help in setting it up.
SynaMan uses HTTP for file transferring instead of FTP. Therefore, on the client's end all you need is a browser.

Hey All, so the previous admin here where I work setup our company website and FTP website etc. Today, this computer with Filezilla crash and burned, being new to web hosting and FTP in general, I am tasked with bringing this website back up. Essentially, users where able to click a link on our website that brought them to an FTP directory with certain files that we make available to view for them. I am completely at a loss on how to bring this back up, and essentially tried everything to my wits end. We are using GoDaddy as a hosting service, I load up Filezilla Client, connect with my hosting adress and User Name, Filezilla (client) than shows a directory of files that are on my main website, but not the directory that held FTP files, I used to upload the files to that site "ftp.mysite.com" through a shared drive on my computer,...

KDE and all the apps that come with it

I have a question about the KDE group (and packages) and pardon me if I demonstrate my lack of understanding.
I'm fairly new to using linux as a desktop, although I've been using it (and FreeBSD) as server for quite some time. So I can get around fairly well with command line, and server based stuff.
I tried many distributions but didnt find one that I got attached to, and was about to go thru a Gentoo install when I discovered Arch. Since then its been fantastic. On my home lan I've replaced almost all my windows installations with arch and have not had any major issues.
However, looking at the slick way that pacman works, with all the little packages I can choose from and the dependancy chain figured out for me, I was a little dissapointed that KDE comes with a dozen or so packages that contain 100s of apps. For instance, I am pretty sure I dont need KBabel (a translator), yet I cannot install it thru pacman because it isnt in its own package, it is in kdeaddons. I REALLY like the idea of having a KDE group that would install everything that it currently does, but why have so many apps inside that group of packages?
I took a little look at the kde website and didnt really see anything in there that indicated that KBabel is part of an actual kdeaddons package there, so I am assuming that the kde maintainer for arch decided that it should be that way.
I dont know any better, so thats why I am asking. I dont have a need for a fax viewer, a tea cooker, or a moon phase thingo. but I did like the AMOR to amuse the kids a little. So how can I keep one bit and get rid of the others, without having to dig thru stuff and possibly break the dependancy chain?
Anyway, not to take away from the effort of those maintaining the packages, because it works quite well and I'm really enjoying my new systems. Just wanted to ask if there was a specific reason it was done this way.

That's probably the exact reason. There's probably around 100+ programs (I could be under or over by a lot, it just seems like there are a ton) that come with a fully installed KDE, and if you had to install them all individually, it'd be hell. It's just easier to put them all together into a few packages, because most people'll probably want to use KDE's stuff within the KDE environment, anyway.

Basic questions about Oracle CEP

Hi there,
We are considering different alternatives for handling some business rules for our educational platform and I am not sure Oracle CEP would be a viable option (I have read a few things on the internet about it), let me elaborate:
We have users being trained on different devices/clients (Mobile, Websites, Offline training), all these clients are sending data to our LRS system (TinCan API). We have about 20 million new events every month (we call them Statements, according to TinCan API terminology).
We are looking for a solution where we could:
Handle up to 2.000 events per second (peak usage);
Be able to restore from disasters (is replaying all events the ONLY option? It would take ages to reply the last, say, 2 years of events);
The Derives we want to get come from different Detections, examples:
Has this particular user achieved a set of pre-defined goals (ordering does not matter )? --> So issue him BADGE A;
Has this particular user finished training 1 in the last 180 days and training 2 in the last 30 (now)? --> So issue him BADGE B;
Does that user already have BADGE A and BADGE B and have finished training 1? --> So issue him BADGE C;
Analyze only events which are now facts, in other words, events which are already in the DB, or that we can ensure will go to the DB, otherwise we can have fake BADGES;
Allow the business user (the one responsible for the educational platform) to create (with little to no IT assistance) new rules and publish them into production easily. Because we add new training every week and so, we need this to be reflect in the CEP platform. Also, we could change the rules for issuing BADGES for 2015, for example.
The architecture from 1 mile high is something like this:
Where should we “plug” Oracle CEP? Of course, the more decoupled, the better.

Oracle Event Processing (OEP, formerly Oracle Complex Event Processing (CEP)) is a stand-alone server. It would go between your service bus (Tin Can) and the database. You might consider implementing the business rules engine with OEP. There was support added for that in OEP 12c.

Lost activation code for PhotoShop CS4 Extended (proof of purchase exists)

I have had had to get Apple to rebuild a computer from the start and all software needs to be reloaded.
The only software which has an issue is CS4 as its as the we cannot find the student edition order fulfilment form which was completed and software loaded in 2009.
Adobe advised I had to go to the forum to find the magic answer and work out how to get the 24 digital serial number.

I'm aware you log in to Adobe, but i had assumed that it would not be on the offline machine. Sorry if i'm being dense, or fundamentally failing to understand something. Here was what i had assumed would happen.
1. Run installer (Offline Machine)
2. Having Trouble Connecting to the Internet? (Offline Machine)
3. Begin offline activation (Offline Machine)
4. Generate Request Code (Offline Machine)
5. Go to Offline Activation website ( Offline Activation ) via separate, internet-connected machine (Online Machine)
6. Click "Generate Response Code" (Online Machine)
7. Sign in to Adobe Account (Online Machine)
8. Input request code generated by Offline Machine, and Serial Number into website (Online Machine)
9. Manually type the generated Response Code from Online Machine / website into Response Code field on Offline Machine (Offline Machine)
10. Click Activate (Offline Machine)
No where in the steps you posted ( Offline Activation ) do i see a step in which you sign in on the Offline Machine. I had made the assumption that as there is no sign in prompt on the Offline Machine, Photoshop would be activated solely through the use of the Response Code, and no e-mail would then be displayed. Is this entirely incorrect?
Sorry, personally, this is a large purchase, and a large sum of money to be spending. I just want to triple check! Sorry to be such a bother over what i would guess many would consider a minor issue.

jservException Connection from /172.16.1.2 refused due to authentication failure

We recently encountered an issue with our iStore server where the CPU spiked taking the website offline. The server was still up and running however we were forced to restart Apache to get the server back up and running. The logs were very undescriptive outside of the following error: <jservException> Connection from /172.16.1.2 refused due to authentication failure. Everything has worked fine before/since this incident.
We are running iStore/EBS version 11.5.10 and our overall architecture is one iStore server in the DMZ with an application server and a DB server on our server VLAN all running Oracle Enterprise Linux. What steps can we take to track down this issue to find the root cause? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

New windows and menus sometimes turn black

I know how this sounds, but bear with me.
Sometimes, out of nowhere, application and context menus start to appear black (or glitchy and grey), new windows open up as black and if I resize applications that are already opened they turn black as well.
GNOME menus (logout etc.), the shell etc. don't seem to be affected by this. If I try to restart X with a quick alt+F2 'r' I get a "Oops" error and my only option remains rebooting.
I've been experiencing this issue for the past 4 months and while at first I could manage as it was happening relatively rarely lately it's becoming quite frustrating. I'm also more keen to get to the bottom of this.
I don't really know where to start trouble-shooting. At first I thought it was flashplugin but uninstalling it was to no good. Firefox perhaps? some people seem to have had similar issue with hardware acceleration on, I disabled it but no improvement was shown. I cannot seem to figure out exactly when this happens. I've noticed it's more likely when loading big chunks on Ajax\Jquery (e.g. Facebook, Twitter infinte picture pages).
EDIT: when I mean black, I mean everythink is black. It's just a black rectangle, you cannot read anything even though it still responds to command (starting to memorize...)

I was also getting lots of the 'mei' errors which one cannot blacklist with the 3.10 kernel.
I found this on the KDE website
A fix to stop mei module
As root run the find command below and pick up the pci device number ( in this case 0000.00.03.0 )
# find /sys/bus/pci/drivers/mei_me/ -type l|sed 's#^.*/##'
Using that number run the following command
# echo 0000:00:03.0 > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/mei_me/unbind
If you run the find command again you will note that the pci dev number is now gone and dmesg -e shows 'stop' alongside the mei error.
I put the above in a script and run it as root after the system powers up.
I am unsure if it is part of the screen problem but it stops the log filling up.
The 'sna' fix seems to be the fix at the moment as it has not occurred for 2 days now.

Dynamic iWeb design?

Hi all,
I designed my site with iWeb, and like it very much. However, nowadays so many people are browsing via their phones or tablets, I need my website to be dynamic so that it looks good on either a computer or a small phone.
So, are there any iWeb templates that you know of that are dynamic in this way instead of static?
If not, are there any iWeb alternatives that are dynamic?
I thought I'd take the plunge and try revamping my website on Wordpress, but the learning curve is a headache. I'm not a total novice at coding, but apparently enough of a novice that I can't seem to customize certain things. Mostly, I want something where I can build my new website OFFline until I'm ready to launch so that there is minimal interruption to my existing website.

Be advised that iWeb is not a supported product any longer and has not been sold or support by Apple for over 2 to 3 years now.
Now is not the time to be using iWeb to build a new website be it Mobile, Dynamic or otherwise.
The youtube video that Charlie linked to relates to a product called EverWeb NOT iWeb and you most certainly can use EverWeb to build mobile versions of your website as well as an ordinary site. Click on the link to EverWeb to take a look, but I would advise you that it is not a good idea to use an unsupported product.

Toshiba virtual store - Site Maintenance

I have a journ.e touch, for at least 4 days now I've been unable to get onto the virtual store, it just opens up as a browser saying "Site Maintenance" and if you go to http://www.toshibavirtualstore.com/ on any device you get the same message.

I have a thing for poor/bad customer service, i.e tech support agents that don't know anything about a product that I own, then trying to fob me off by saying its nothing at their end, its a problem with the journ.e which they say they don't support (even though its supplied through retailers in the UK!).
Some sort of ERT from Toshiba would be hand, as its been 10 days since the website went off line, and using the phrase "coming soon" does not really cut it with me.
Also, some form of advance warning is usually given when a website goes down for maintence/upgrade to give users prior notice of what is happening.
I'm not annoyed at the fact they've taken the website offline to hopefully make improvements. What I am annoyed at is the customer service aspect, and the lack of foresight that was given to not informating customers of what they were going to do.
It's this sort of treatment of customers that puts me off certain suppliers, and in this day and age, companies should be trying their upmost to keep the customers that they do have.

Talking about cutting edge....

KDE 3.3.1 is seeping in after the pacman -Suy command, wheras it has not even been anounced on the KDE homepage! Arch is like what gentoo used to be... cutting very sharp edge!

How do I transfer a downloaded offline website from my macbook pro to an ipad2?

I want my sales team to use an ipad2 to sell and present our products. I have a website built that fully works offline which is our catalog.
Now I want to transfer that website from my macbook pro onto a 'master ipad' so I can then sync up the other ipads with the 'master ipad'.
How do I transfer the site to the ipad?

Have you tried resetting the iPhone and rebooting the Mac? I don't think iPhoto has an import size limitation, but if you still have trouble then perhaps using a cloud service like Dropbox as an intermediary will get the job done.
