KDEMod: desktop background suddenly gone, only background color

Well it may have something to do with the updates today (I ran pacman -Syu earlier and there were a large number of updates), but I don't have my wallpaper anymore.  If I change to a different background I still only see the color selected in appearance settings.
I reinstalled kdemod-complete and tried creating a new user, then logging in and I still have the problem.
I can see the splash background (I made it using a tool that creates a splash from your current theme), but it fades to a white screen afterward.
I haven't tried deleting the user settings for KDE, as I'm not sure where they're located....
Help would be greatly appreciated.

I would have liked to, but I'm new to arch and didn't know where to look . Got a tip for where to look next time I need to do something as stupid as this?
Check the Pacman Wiki-it tells you how to downgrade packages that are still in Pacman cache.
Agreed.  I subscribe to the KISS school of thought, so I would rather only install Arch packages to prevent any unforseen problems.
So far the only app that's still broken is KRDC (I use it to remote my Vista PC when I'm feeling lazy ), and that could be fixed with a symlink most likely.
EDIT:
While I was posting this I was also running pacman to upgrade and what do you know?  They already have new packages for all of the broken kdemod apps (kdrc included.)
Nice.

    Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

  • HT203172 Can't customize the color of desktop background anymore.  What happened?

    I have Snow Leopard and used to be able to customize desktop background colors to go with personal pics I might want to use but now it won't work.  I can open the color wheel and move the color marker to get the color I want but it never changes in the box where the color shows up.  I close the wheel and nothing happens. ( What have I forgotten to do?)  I thought it did it automatically as I was moving the colors around??
    Thanks.

    I'm replying to my own question! I got the urge to click on the wheel itself, you know, when all else fails, CLICK where the cursor is!  And it worked!  I tried to get this answered in the Help menu but it didn't help.   See, the atmosphere within this Apple online community is so powerful with help that all you have to do sometimes is just put a question out there and before you know it, the answer will be revealed!  Wow!

    iMac 10.5.8
    Last week I deleted my desktop.plist because my desktop stuff was gone - only the background image remained.

  • When converting word doc to pdf, my images with text only show the background color of the text box.

    I have a word doc that I am trying to conver to pdf.  I have jpegs with text boxes on top of them on one page.  It looks great on the screen but after I convert to pdf, the text boxes only have half the text, the first half of the text box is just white - the background color.  If I take the background color out of the text box, the text converts over fine but I need the background color.
    I have tried many things here on the print settings, standard, high quality print, unchecking the compression on the images.  Any help?

  • How to change the background color only for one HTML-Portlet?

    Hi all,
    I have created a HTML-Portlet in my root-page. The root page have a style: Main-Style.
    I want to change the background-color only for this one HTML-Portlet:
    <html>
    <header><title>Test</title></header>
    <body bgcolor="#999999">
    Test
    </body>
    </html>
    But this does not work...
    When I use the CSS, then it will change the background-color for the root-page too.

    could you try this
    <table bgcolor="#999999">
    <tr>
    <td>
    test
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    I don't think you need <html><header><title>Test</title></header>
    <body></body></html> for your HTML-Portlet.

  • How to change background color only in specific pages???

    Hi! I try to change color of background in pdf document using adobe reader, but it only changes all pages together and I can't find a way to do it on selected pages(or even select them). For example I need to change only 1st and last page to grey background color and leave the middle pages with white background color.  Please help! Thanks

    I seldom use Word so I can't help you with that problem. It could be in the way you are adding the background in Word but again, I use it about oncve a month.
    If you have Adobe Illustrator, you could do it there by adding a colored box in a layer behind the text (you can open the pdf directly in Illy).

  • Only seeing desktop background on LG TV from iMac

    I connected my iMac via mini-DVI to VGA on my LG TV. When I choose the input on the LG, I am only seeing the desktop background but with no dock or windows. When I try to select the LG in Detect Displays in Preferences, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

    HI Emiko,
    By default Mac OS X uses an external display to extend the desktop. If you want to mirror the built in monitor you need to enable it.
    go to the menu bar
    click on the apple menu
    chose system preferences
    click on display
    click on the arrangement tab
    check "Video Mirroring"
    happy new year!

  • How do you change the background color & font in a text-only popup?

    It has been ages since I did this and I can't seem to remember how. I tried to edit the style sheet but it only has options to change the text-only popup hotspot/link and I need to change the background color and font style within the popup itself. Tried Adobe's help but it had no answer for me. Any one out there know how to do this? I am running RoboHelp 7.

    By Popup do you mean a link that when clicked causes a separate topic to be displayed in a seperate window (popup) or Drop Down text?
    For Popups that are displayed in a new window then the font and colour is changed in the topic that is displayed. Simply open the topic and change colours / features as required
    If you are using drop down text and confusing this with a popup then the font and colour is changed when creating the drop down text. Right click the text and select Font to change colour etc.

  • Background color change question - only selecting the footer

    I use the darkroom theme and was curious about changing the page background color. Right now my settings use the darkroom theme 'right out of the box' which is 'image fill' on both the page and browser background. That is the textured look.
    When I try to change the color, selecting 'color fill' instead of 'image fill', it only changes the footer - not the entire page background.
    I'm guessing it's not possible to change a color using the 'image fill.' You get 'image fill' in black or gray as shown and that is it, except should you decide to use your own image, which I do not.
    Any way to be able to have a change apply to the entire page and not just the footer?
    Suggestions welcome.

    I tried to do the same just see what the problem was and failed. It is probably 'cos the top layer is independant of the page background or browser background. Even when I had page background none and altered the browser background it made no difference. If you want anything different try using a blank black or white theme and putting your own graphics on there. You can make quite nice backgrounds if you have a decent paint or photo program.

  • Background color only, no images :(

    Hi and thank you,
    Yes I'm new to DW be gentle :D Ive searched a bunch of other
    threads but...Anyway I dont know what info you need. Im on Mac DW
    CS3 V9.0. I use Firefox and DirectAdmin. Alternate Text is the only
    thing that displays. This is the page source paste:

    alt="construct" />
    </body>

    Im sure its a simple fix that Im not seeing. I used to be
    great in frontpage about 5 years ago but I forgot everything and we
    use everything adobe now.

    File not found.
    You sure you uploaded this to your server?
    It says in the source now that you have it in your images
    folder - yet it
    isn't there, or its named something else.
    Check the file on the server, and the naming of it also.

  • LV Bug? - Blink Background color only red after build

    It seems no matter what I choose for a Tools/Options/Environment/Blink Background color during debug (which works perfectly), the color will always revert back to the default of red after I build the application. I realize I can choose the colors but I would like to know why the blink color reverts back to red when the application is built. I am running LV2011 but I have noticed this in many of the previous versions as well. (I have tried changing the color from the project level as well as the debug level.)
    Solved!

    To smercurio_fc - correct me if I am wrong but there are many things in the Tools\Options catagories that are built into the executable either directly or through the .ini file. It appears to me that the blinking colors are the only thing that doesn't make it into the build or the .ini file.
    That would be incorrect. There are LOTS of things that are in the labview.ini file that are not in the application's default .ini file. Most (if not all) of the Tools->Options settings are saved in the labview.ini file.
    Also, what is this 'build spec' that I may specify the color?
    I was referring to the "Advanced" page where you can specify a custom .ini file to include. Please read the documentation on the application builder.
