KDL 55W800C Android TV apps not getting 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound

Just bought KDL-55W800C Android TV few days ago. Everything is great except the DD 5.1 surround. I am using optical audio out to a STR-KS360 receiver. I get 5.1 with Telus Cisco CIS430 PVR connected to TV no problem. But when I tried Netflix, Play Movies and USB test MP4 on the TV. They are coming through as 2.0 only. BD connected to TV also only come through as 2.0 only while BD connected to receiver gives 5.1. Is this a known problem? There seem to be similar threads on other models. E.g. https://community.sony.com/t5/4K-Ultra-HD-TV/XBR-75X850C-Netflix-Amazon-dolby-digital-5-1-channel-support/m-p/509054/highlight/true#M4168

That sounds more logical, however, Apple and Netflix are pointing at each other.
The player needs to be compatible with Dolby Digital Plus, so that would ultimately put the responsibility on Apple. However, DDP for streaming 5.1 surround sound from the Internet is relatively new, so it doesn't surprise me that the ATV doesn't currently support it, but I would expect Apple to release a software update for it at some point.

  • Third party audio apps not getting recognized

Why do most of my third party audio apps not get recognized by the "inter-app audio apps" feature in the new version of Garageband? I have version 3 of the IPad. It only recognizes Galileo (organ app) and not Sunrizer, Sample Tank, etc.

They are simply not enabled for that yet, maybe they will in the future; just find those who are. I think Audiobus, a 5 dollar app, can connect to more programs, and those too have to support it, but the supported program list is probably longer. Audiobus is very popular

  • Get DTS and Dolby Digital work

Download ffdshow tryout filters from [url="http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout">here[/url] these filters are simply great for Vista they were actually written for it unlike previous versions of ffdshow.
Thanks to those babies I have full XviD x264 and so on playback even in Media Center. Vista still crashes due to the driver issue though still waiting for proper drivers from Creative for my overpriced Audigy 2zs platinum pro.
Funnily enough the drivers dated March 6th check out to be dated as the 2th of February if you view them through Device Manager, so that's over 2 months of problems and not a single driver update. Waiting and hoping.Message Edited by euphoria_aus on 04-9-200703:52 AM

    Hello,
I purchased a mini to TOSLINK optical cable to connect my GT70 0NC to my Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speaker system and I was wondering if the ALC892 supports Dolby Digital Live. I'm able to get DTS and Dolby Digital to work just fine, but I don't see an option to change the default format of the digital output in the Realtek HD Audio Manager to Dolby Digital Live. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with the latest audio drivers available.
    Thanks
    I hate saying this.
Do yourself a favor, go buy an Asus Xonar U3, plug it in, and you will be much happier.
I have a Z680 (precursor to the Z5500, pretty much the same thing though), and I couldn't stand how bad the Realtek HD performed. The Asus Xonar does a much better job. You hook it up, set it to output to the 'speakers', but have your TOSLINK cable connected, and you get upconverted dolby digital live sound output. Couldn't ask for anything better. The U3 only runs about $40, so it's not a huge investment.

Do you have the latest version of iTunes, 10.X?
Are you sure you have a 2G iPod? See the following for identifying your model:

  • Apps not getting moved from/to iPhone via iTunes

My wife is having problems with her iPhone and iTunes.  Apps are not getting removed from the iPhone or are not getting moved to the iPhone from iTunes.  Apps that iTunes says are there are not on the iPhone.
She has tried multiple times to remove/install and applied changed and synced, but nothing seems to change.
    iTunes version 11.3.1 (2)
    iPhone 4s IOS 7.1.2

Oh, wanted to share at least one workaround for those with the issue.  You can at least access visit the itunes app and download your music that way and add it to the playlists on the phone.  Just for some reason, iTunes won't synchronize most purchased music to the phone.

  • NOTE: Audio Alerts Killing Dolby 5.1 Sound -- Workaround

There are a couple of threads that walk around this issue, but I've created this new one to indicate what appears to be the cause and effect of a recent Verizon change to the STB functionality, and to offer a workaround until Verizon gets its act together and fixes the bug that was introduced.
The week of 8/27 some of us began getting an audio alert beep on the STB when starting to delete a DVR recording, a reminder appearing, etc.  This is actually a nice feature until it was discovered that that Dolby 5.1 sound was no longer presenton on any channel.  The workaround to this problem is to disable audio alerts in the STB menu, and then reboot the STB.  If you re-enable the alerts or don't disable them in the first place, a reboot may temporarily fix the problem but it will come back.
Verizon has now broken a key audio functionality (Dolby 5.1 sound) because, apparently, they missed this when they tested the added audio alert functionality.  I presume they tested -- but maybe not.  Not that I did not use the word "assume" for obvious reasons.
    Sigh.

Can you provide a reference or URL that describes the 5.1 part of your contract?  I may need that sort of information in a future lawsuit.

  • Android DPS app not linking to PDF

Hi - we have a working app in iOS that we are now converting for Android. We link to two PDFs using HTMLResources. Works fine in iOS, not on Android. Is this a known bug / issue or is there a workaround anyone knows about? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
There are definitely some known behavioral differences between Android and iOS in these situations. Can you describe the behavior you're seeing so that I might provide some guidance?
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • Mail.app not getting Gmail

Yes, i've enabled pop mail and saved settings. I've configured Mail.app properly. No other email client is collecting Gmail. I have Gmail Notifier and I can see that there are new Gmails waiting for me. I've read other posts in this forum and tried suggestions, like deleting Mail's gmail account and configuring a new one. Activity Viewer just says "connecting to server," but never logs on. Also: while setting up the newly created gmail acct in Mail, connections were never established for incoming or outgoing. I don't know what else to try!

    1. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accounts, and create a new user account for testing purposes.
    2. Either log out of your main user account or just quit Mail and any other related applications, such as Gmail Notifier, so that they do not interfere with the other user account.
    3. Log in as the newly created user and set up Mail anew there with your Gmail account, as described here:
    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13275
    4. Check whether the problem also happens when logged in as another user, and without any of the plugins installed.

  • XBR55X850C Netflix App does not support DD surround sound

I have a new Sony XBR55X850C 4K TV connected to a new Sony STRDN860 AV receiver. I downloaded and installed the most recent software update for the Sony TV which included Netflix support. However, when I go into the native Netflix app for the TV and select a program to watch my audio option is limited to a 2 channel stereo signal, even though I know that the program comes with 5.1 DD surround sound audio, which I have confirmed using Netflix apps in other devices that I own that are also connected to the AV receiver. This stereo audio limitation is also present in the native Amazon and YouTube apps for the TV. It is not present in the native Vudu app, which does transmit 5.1 channel surround sound audio to my AV receiver. This, plus the fact that multiple other owners of 850C model TVs have all reported the same audio limitation in the AVS forum, suggests that this is a bug in the Sony (Android TV) software and not a defect in everyone's TV. What needs to be done to get this issue resolved? It doesn't make any sense to have to listen to suboptimal audio just to be able to appreciate 4K video.

    Hello JerryB01,
Greetings and thank you for sharing your experience with the XBR55X850C 4K television and A/V receiver  STRDN860, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience regarding the audio options available when using a video application. Our engineering department is aware of this issue and is currently working on a solution to address it and be able to enjoy a Dolby Digital surround sound quality with your receiver, we will be posting updated information as soon as is available.
    Thank you for your patience.

  • Device not getting ip adddress

Some particular devices ( android os ) is not getting ip address from  dhcp server. But windows clients are getting the ip address.
How can i troubleshoot this issue , anything need to be done on the access ports

    Hello,
So I can see you have a DHCP server at 192.168.8.11, is that the DHCP Server we are using?
For that please add on both devices:
    interface Vlan58
    standby 58 HSRP1
     ip helper-address 192.168.8.11 redundancy  HSRP1
Now if the switch is the DHCP server, make sure you split the DHCP pools on each box as they do not share the DHCP binding table, you do not want to be providing the same IP addresses on both routers,
    Does it make sense?
Please let us know whether the switch is the one that should give it or that other server?
    Regards

  • Any hardware with app to watch DVDs using Dolby Headphone?

I love (and sometimes by no other choice) to watch DVDs on my laptop (in this case my new MacBook Pro). I've good set of Bose headphones but I really miss the 'surround sound experience. Googling, I found a small hardware device - http://www.audiotrak.net/optoplay.htm - from Audiotrak that plugs into a USB port and seems to offer Dolby Headphone technology... however, although the specs say that it will work on a Mac it looks as if the only included app for playback is a Windows app called "WinDVD Player" and the product seems somewhat dated: it's USB 1.1 and it says that it works with "Mac OS 10.1 or later".
Does anyone know anything of this product - or other similar products - that are small and portable, have licensed Dolby Headphone technology, and would work on a MBP?
Watching a movie on a small screen (in 'normal' size - full screen, to me, looks pretty bad. But the worst thing is the sound I'd just like for it be be more realistic... it's fine for "South Park: Season Seven" but rather blows when watching a flick in which the sound is supposed to be part of the experience...

Yes, I do wish someone who knew about how DVD Player and Macs with digital output function would jump in here and clarify things! If you go to DVD Player Help there's one section - "Selecting the audio output for a DVD movie" that tells you how to set up DVD Player Preferences with the optical out jack... my GUESS is that the actual decoding is accomplished via the home theater system, although the jack could be connected to the "Logitech Z-5500 5.1 THX Speaker System" and accomplish he same ). And there are likely dozens - if not hundeds - of digital speaker systems out there that do the same.
Oh - and just as an interesting side note, I found an old reference disk and DVD Player played Dolby Digital (through analog headphones and MacBook Pro speakers) just fine... and also played DTS although the warning sign that came up on screen said "In order to playback the DTS Digital Surround Sountrack, you will need a DTS ready DVD player with DTS digital output connected to a DTS decoder." OK, fine, I have that in my living room... and although neither Dolby or DTS sounded anything like the Dolby Headphone surround sound that I get when I jack in to my Denon AVR-4806 receiver, the sound differences left and right channels was obvious and there was a 'center channel' effect. Odd. I'm going to have to find one of my newer disks and see how newer audio formats are handled.
I really DO wish an Apple Sound engineer would jump in here! Maybe one of the folks responsible for DVD Player (yes, we take it for granted... but thanks for the new audio and video controls in Tiger! Sure would be nice to have Dolby Headphone available - particularly on laptops - on we who are always on the road!)

  • Dolby Digital Not Decoding Properly

I have an Apple TV with the latest software. I am running the output via HDMI to a Denon 1909 AVR.
The Denon does not automatically recognize when dolby digital 5.1 is coming in like it does with other sources, however, I can see that the input is 5.1 and can change the receiver so it is in DD or DD EX modes. When not in DD or DD EX modes, everything is fine. However in DD or DD EX modes, the sound is good except for one very important piece - no dialogue is coming through - like it is missing a channel or something.
I have tried switching HDMI cables with no change.
DD 5.1 works perfectly from Dish TV, Blu-Ray and DVD sources, just not from Apple TV.
I am using itunes downloaded HD TV and SD movies that specify DD 5.1.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I also have just recently purchased Apple TV and am running it into the VCR port on a Bose V30 system, I have decided to use the component and optical ports on the Apple TV running into the back of the Bose surround system. I get Dolby 5.1 through Bose off my SKY HD and also PS3 using optical but not through the Apple TV. I only get PCM, sometimes even no sound at all, although once a movie or music running if I flick between audio sources I do eventually get sound. I wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem with this setup. I'm unsure at the moment how many movies rent or buy in i-Tunes are actual Dolby presentations? Does anyone know how this is illustrated in the store?
    Thanks in advance

  • After the update to Android 5.0.1 my Galaxy Gear S will not install apps, I get an error message that says "Installation Failed. Try Later. (WO:WO:-1002)

After the update to Android 5.0.1 on my Galaxy Note 4, my Galaxy Gear S will not install apps, I get an error message that says "Installation Failed. Try Later. (WO:WO:-1002). I am glad it was a free app I was trying to install (I tried a couple of different ones to see if it was just a bad app and they all failed on the install. The Note 4 and the Gear S seem to be communicating okay via bluetooth (health stuff syncs, Gear S controls the music player on the note 4 Etc. )

Everything that I had installed previously on the gear S still works.
Everthing while in the gear manager seems to be working okay also. I can make changes in the Gear manager on the note 4 and they show up on the gear S. I have an app called watch styler , it let me create a new watch on the Note 4 and that showed up on the Gear S.
The only thing that seems to be not working is installing new apps.
When trying to get a new app it looks like it is working as normal , the dowload shows it is working but it errors out when it goes to install it.

  • SLATEBOOK 14 android Kitkat not getting 1080p video streaming

How  come i am not getting full HD when streaming content such as youtube, netflix, google movie etc...? On youtube the best it will do is 720p. Anyone have any idea why?

So, I  went into a few youtube videos and tried them out on my Windows laptop and on my android tablet. I tested the android athority channel and the videos on my other devices allows me to choose 1080p in the player/app settings. But my new Slatebook 14 doesn't give me that choice. It only allows me to choose up to 720p. There isn't even a 1080p option in the settings on the Slatebook 14.  Same thing when I try to stream/download movies from my cinemanow, google play movies app, even my flixster app. All those allow me to choose HD or SD on my other devices. The Slatebook 14 just doesn't give me that option.
