  • Keeping BT email address after cancelling BT Broad...

    Hi,
I have recently cancelled my BT Broadband service (due to a move abroad) but would like to continue using my BT email service (currently an address @btinternet.com, still on BT Yahoo Mail).
This page states clearly that the email service can be retained as long as I keep using it:
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13140/~/what-happens-to-my-bt-internet-email-account-...
However, the cancellation e-mail I received from BT is also very clear about the e-mail service being lost unless I sign up for BT Premium Mail:
FREE BT email - you'll be able to use your BT email for 30 days after 20 Aug 2014, but then we'll close the account and permanently delete your emails, contacts, calendar and notes. If you'd like to keep your BT email account, you can sign up to BT Premium Mail for just £1.60 a month (which you'll need to do before we close your account). With BT Premium Mail you can keep using your @btinternet or @btopenworld email accounts no matter who provides your broadband. Find out more at bt.com/keepmyemail
Could one of the BT Mods please confirm that the email account will remain active and won't be deleted?
    Thanks,
    Guillem

    Hi guillem,
I'm sorry about any confusion around the cancellation of your BT broadband. Your email will continue to work for 30 days after you've cancelled your broadband however if you wish to continue using your @btinternet.com email address after this time you will need to subscribe to the premium mail service.
    Thanks

  • Keep your email address when moving house

We can help when you move house by switching your Telstra home phone, broadband and entertainment services to your new address.
Just make sure that we know that you want to keep the same email address.
    You can either:
start now by filling out our online form for moving home, or
call us on 1800 670 017 (particularly if you’re moving within the next 5 business days).

Re: Keep your email address when moving house
I was told I could keep my bigpond email account after I moved home to go to the UK. I just needed it whilst I receved bills / and other correspondence for a few weeks.
My BigPond account has been blocked already - and this is very inconvenient - particularly as I won't be able to receive my final Telstra bill.
Can you please unblock [email protected] -
If you need to call me I am currently in Switzerland and can be reached on +41219210812.
I understand I cannot send emails from this account but I was expecting to still be able to receive correspondence.
    Thank you

  • HT4864 In iCloud can i keep my email address?

Since MobileMe will end on 30 June, will I be able to keep my current mac.com email address after the change to iCloud?

To change the iCloud ID ("email") you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • I have two cell phone, different numbers.  Each has their own apple id.  How can i merge them so apps on one show on the other but keep their emails addresses separate on their own phone?

Have two cell phones, different numbers.  Each has their own apple id.  How can I merge them so apps purchased on one phone show on the other.  But.as each has their own email address, I want to keep these email addresses separate on their own phone?  Thanks.

We do this in my family now.  We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores).  Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud.  That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup.  That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice.  You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.
In answer to what iCloud does for you: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response.  What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures.  Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures.  1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

can I keep my email address if I use Firefox??

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.

  • Can I keep my AT&T & Yahoo email addresses after we go back to Time Warner?

When we found that we could be paying $76.95 LESS per month for MORE, better service with TWC, we decided to swtich back to TWC. (This would never have happened if AT&T wouldn't have sent us a bill asking for $54 more starting this month without even warning us! But that's what they did and it prompted me to call TWC to find out what they could offer. And their best bundle is $76.95 cheaper than AT&T's best bundle, so we switched. It wasn't an easy decision to make because we've had AT&T phone service for 45 years and AT&T Internet for 17 years! We've only had uVerse for 2 years, but even though it's not as good as cable, not as convenient and doesn't have all the cool perks that TWC has, we were going to sign up for another 2 years. Until, like I said, we got the last bill. We don't appreciate being treated this way after paying for the service all this time, never being late, not once, in fact they just take the money out of our checking account each month so it's never late! But, after having all my email addresses with worldnet.att.net, att.net, sbcglobal.net and yahoo, for 17 years, I hate the idea of giving up my email addresses! EVERYONE I know, family & friends, and all the companies and websites I've signed up with know me as my name @ att.net.So, I wonder if I'll be able to access my email accounts after the switch? Or will AT&T just close those accounts? I sure hope there's someone out there that knows the answer to this question will see this and send an answer very soon because I've been fretting about this ever since we made the call to TWC. In fact this is the only reason why we didn't call to switch as soon as our contract was up. (BTW - all the better services we'll have with TWC will be a nice change especially since we don't have to sign a contract! We can drop any service or add any service at any time without paying a penalty!)

The short answer is, yes, you can keep your AT&T associated e-mail addresses. They have to be modified in some way, but how to do that is pretty easy to find on their support web page.

  • Keeping Domain Name Email Address After Hosting With MobileMe

    Hi,
I am looking for any advice with regard to my website, which I now host with MobileMe. Prior to the transfer I had a Domain specific email address, which I now can no longer use. I receive the emails, but when it comes to answering, I can only answer as my .Mac account name.
Can anyone help, as my previous Domain holder wants about US$100/year to maintain this facility?
    Cheers,

Whether you get e-mails from the type of [email protected] or not depends on your domain registrar.
What you're paying now is also the hosting which is needed to have real mailboxes.
Usually at domain registrars you get MailForwards which means that I send e-mails at [email protected] which forwards e-mails to another address like [email protected] and you can set [email protected] to be forwarded to another e-mail (if you want). So basically MailForwards aren't real e-mails themselves. You can also set *@yourdomain.com so all e-mails sent to no matter which e-mail @yourdomain.com gets sent to [email protected] (no matter what people put in front of the @yourdomain.com).
The problem is that if you set up CNAME for your domain usually E-Mail gets broken. But there’s a trick to avoid that (pointed out to by Earl and originally posted by Seanomich on the Apple Discussion Forums). Mainly that’s it:
    1. www.yourdomain.com is different from yourdomain.com
    2. Domain registrars handle them as completely different
    3. The trick is to set up CNAME for www.yourdomain.com (as of Chapter 2 of this page)
    4. For yourdomain.com set up a WebForward instead (as of Chapter 1 of this page) pointing it to www.yourdomain.com
    5. Now yourdomain.com is free to be used for e-mails
If your domain registrar doesn't provide this feature (MailForwards without having to pay the hosting) you could manage your domain using ZoneEdit (which is free) and you will get MailForward e-mails.
You will then also be able to send e-mails from [email protected]. All you need to do is write [email protected] in the Preferences of the Mail application where it says E-mail (same on the iPhone). In addition to that if you use a gmail address as real address behind the [email protected] MailForward you will also be able to send e-mails from the web as [email protected] since it allows to apply aliases.
Bottom line: you can have e-mails like you want
If MailForward isn’t enough for you, you probably need a hosting package (other than MobileMe) along with your domain and that's where you have to pay the 100$ a year...
    Regards,
    Cédric

  • Using old email address after I've switched to BT

    Hi
Hope someone can help me. I'm in the process of switching Broadband from EE to BT. I currently have a Freeserve email address (supplied by EE) which I use to log in to several online accounts (shopping etc) and also for emailing. I also have a Hotmail account. I access both accounts on my laptop through Windows Live Mail.
Once I have switched will I still be able to use the Freeserve account or will it be closed. Also, will the emails that I have already received on my Freeserve account still be accessable or will I have to save them before switchover. I have previously moved some emails from the Freeserve to the Hotmail by right clicking/move to folder etc but will they still be there after switchover or will I have to Forward them one by one.
Finally, will the Freeserve address still be active as a Log in/user name for websites?
While I'm fairly capable at doing stuff I'm not always sure of the technical jargon so please keep any answers as simple as possible,
    Many thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. If the provider keeps your Freeserve account alive, switching broadband ISPs shouldn't make any difference. If not, you may have to make some changes but any messages already downloaded to WLM should be safe. Closure of the account would not prevent you continuing to use the address simply as a username but it might be sensible to update it as you go along.

  • Yahoo email OK after cancelling Verizon DSL?

Will my 'Verizon Yahoo" email account still be OK after I cancel my Verizon DSL?
I access my email at mail.yahoo.com. My email address is similar to [email protected] The banner at the top of the page says Verizon Yahoo Mail and the menu includes some Verizon items. I'm cancelling my Verizon DSL and  switching to another ISP (but keeping my Verizon phone service, for now.) What will happen to this Yahoo email account after I cancel my Verizon DSL? Will it still exist, with all my saved messages and folder intact?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    some_user

Based on past experiences, if your e-mail is supplied via Yahoo from Verizon, your messages and account should stay intact. However, you must note that your e-mail address will change. After your account is terminated and Verizon has finished up the account on their end, the next time you go to log into your Yahoo account, Yahoo will ask you to set up the account again.
In essence, logging into what is the "Suspended" account should convert your account to a free Yahoo account. This policy may have changed as both Verizon and Yahoo have been changing their services around, so you may want to get clarification from Verizon support. On the safe side, connect to your mailbox via POP and download the contents of your mailbox to a local mail client, leaving e-mail on the server. Export your e-mail contacts to a file and save that, too.

  • Keeping BT email address and using a different ISP...

Is it possible to do this with the new BT email service?
Someone on the BT Residential Customer Support Community Forum managed to subscribe to a premium BT email service, keep their existing btinternet.com address for a small fee, and then migrate to a different ISP.
Clearly, ISPs will discourage a lot their customers from migrating if they cannot keep their existing email addresses.
Might that also be seen as some form of unfair practice, in terms of restricting competition?

    Hi.
The Premium email service is not ceasing, otherwise "they" wouldn't be informing those on old legacy payg or basic email to either move the address to their BT broadband account (if relevant) or pay 1.60 to keep the address.
This service has been around for years.
Not sure your last comments are relevant - since it's up to the user to move as they wish. Obviously an ISP email tie-in is, however, relevant - but this doesn't stop BTinternet users from keeping their address if they move elsewhere (for that fee). I don't know if other ISPs have this sort of facility.
If people chop & change frequently, then it would make sense to only use a non ISP email address, e.g. their own domain, gmail, hotmail, (even Yahoo) if they so wish.

  • Keeping verizon email address when leaving verizon

I'm trying to  hold on to 2 verizon.net email address in my account when i stop using verizon as a provider.  I've joined 'your domain', but the 2 address i want to keep are actually set up as  aliases (the actuall email is VZE....).  Tech support at "Your Domain' said there is no way to hold on to an address if its actually an alias.  They told me the only soloution is to try to get someone at Verizon to reasign the name from an alias to a propper sub-account, which they say is possible, but after many hours on the phone I couldn't find anyone who had any idea how to do this.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Go to www.keepmyemail.com and follow the steps there. it should ask and grab the right names.
An alias is the same as the VZE address, so when you retain the VZE address, you should retain the alias as well.
