Keep calendars and alerts separate 2 users

I have a Macbook Pro  Hubbie has an iPad & iPod. I would like to keep his calendar items and alerts on his devices and my events and alerts on the Mac while also syncing iTunes between all devices & syncing his calendar and events between the iPad & iPod. No matter what I've tried I can't keep them separate. He's on the iPad before I'm on the Mac so I don't get the alerts, and he wants the iPad & iPod calendars/alerts synced. Any help would be appreciated

Yes.  Just set up separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs.  You can continue to share the same iTunes account ID; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for other services such as iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc.
You should also avoid using the same ID for FaceTime and iMessage or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.  If you are, on one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID (such as the one you use for your iCloud account).  Then do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

  • How to merge parts of two iPhoto libraries and remain separate users

We have two user accounts - let's call them A and B - on our iMac and hence two separate libraries which is fine for the major part of our photos, but we have many photos of mutual adventures and hopefully more to come in the future. If this is relevant: the photos are imports from other computers, but are no longer available from these computers. There's a continuous backup on Time Capsule via Time Machine.
We would like to share the photos from the two existing accounts, except those that are from each users past.
I expect to have to move or copy some photos including new imports in the future to a new shared library AND keep our old libraries from the past separate as they are from the past.
I further more would like to share the photos from mutual adventures to to Apple TV - maybe via Airplay as I can already do with the iTunes library on account A.
It seems to me the best way would be to have a separate user account -  account C - for mutual iPhoto and our music in iTunes, BUT user A synchronize the music to my iPhone and user B does not yet. To complicate things - I think - user B has less storage on the iPhone than user A, so the full iTunes library simply does not fit on user B. I do realise it's possible to do selective synchronisation of music, but will this work in such a setup?
    How do I do this?

Thank you for a quick reply. Unfortunately this is turning out to be more complicated than I initially had hoped. Please see why in explanation below.
I would like to give more information about the setup, just to be absolutely sure there's no smart setup for us. As user A was the first user in our network this user has an iTunes id which is used for the Appstore/iTunes syncing iPhone/Airplay to share music and photos from user A's library. User A (unfortunately?) also has an iCloud id which is different from the iTunes id in order to use the iCloud sync features for Mail/iCal etc. User B has an iTunes id and a small music library, but is currently not using it. User B also has an iCloud id to use the sync features.
From your answers it seems there's no way to "get it all" (sharing, syncing, personal/mutual data) in our current setup and the whole iCloud/Air Play/sharing is a little confusing to me, but given that the primary purpose is to show the mutual photos as a screensaver on our iMac and Apple TV and play the music there too there are two ways to do this:
    1. your suggested setup with the extra library (to be shared via Airplay to Apple TV with an iTunes id assigned to the new Media user iTunes/iPhoto library). In this setup user B looses the ability to see photos on the iPad unless duplicates exist.
    2. copying all mutual photos for user A respectively B to two separate albums in the existing separate libraries and making these albums available as screensavers and sharing via Airplay, BUT with the limitation that only one user's album will be available at a time as screensaver and as far as the Apple TV goes the users two separate iTunes id's have to be used to access the album from one user at a time.
    Question:
Ref. 1 As I understand it iTunes purchases are linked to one id. So what are the consequences for a user if the iTunes id is in use for the Apple TV homesharing via Airplay and a logon is attempted on the user's iPhone?
Ref. 1 As I understand the sharing setup the iTunes id for user A with the most music must be the preferred one for the new Media user and the music library for user A must also be copied to the new Media user?
Ref. 2 As I said the whole iCloud/sharing/synchronizing issues are a little confusing. Given the above information with two separate iPhones, iTunes accounts, iCloud accounts and the wish to share photos/music
Do you see any smarter way to do this than your initial suggestion?

  • Mail Push Not Working:  Keeping Work and Personal Separate but together!

My understanding (and a big reason I dropped by Blackberry) of Mobile Me was that if I READ an E-mail on iPhone and then deleted it, it would delete it from my iMac at home (or MacBook for work). This does not seem to work? I know there are some issues still with MobileMe so I am trying to be patient.
Do I not have my synche preferences set up right? I want to keep my work (MacBook) mail and contacts separate from my personal (iMac) mail and contacts while receiving both on my iPhone. I want the calenders to merge. Is this possible? How do I set up my preferences on each unit to get this work?

Yes.  Just set up separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs.  You can continue to share the same iTunes account ID; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for other services such as iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc.

  • Bugs in calendar and alert in new software Anna fo...

I use my E7 for business. I think it is a good smart phone. My previous one was an HTC with Windows Phone 6.5. But windows decided to shut down 6.5 to develop 7 so deceided to go back to symbiam.
I found some problem after I successfully upgraded my E7 to latest firmware.
I have to fix several appointment per day in my calendar. I miss the big key on the touch screen to pop-up the form for a new appointment. Moreover each time I fill the form of a new appointment I have always to disable the alert: may I disable the 15 minute alert once for ever? I tried to change something in "setting" but I failed.
    I miss the previous firmware....

I was right near the router while I was checking info on the software update. I don't think that you get the case coz it is not about the Internet but it is notification of the software update. It doesn't show alert on the first time I saw the new software update.  I am frustrating about it and hopeless now.

  • How do I go about keeping Contacts and Apps Separate on 2 Smartphones on my Account?

I may be over thinking this.  I have two phones, a Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 active on the same account each having their own phone number. When backing up and storing contacts and apps,  I would like to keep each separate from the S3 and vice versa.  Do I have to create separate gmail account and google play account?  Also when backing up on the S3 it says I have to login using my Verzion account, but I do not want that info on the S3.  Thanks

For backing up through MyVerizon, you DO need a separate MyVerizon login for each number.  The primary phone will have access to both lines for adding/removing features etc, but NOT to the contacts and ringtones/ringbacks/music purchased for the other line.  TO set this up, log out of MyVerizon, then REGISTER the other number for a username and password. If it says the account is already registered, clear cookies and cache, or use another browser to set up the second account.
You can then run and use backup assistant for each number, keeping contact lists and media purchases separate.
It probably would be better to have a separate Google account for each device as well.  I have my tablet (Samsung Galaxy 7") and phone (Motorola Droid 4) on the same Google Apps so I can load apps on both (or one or the other) from the playstore on my computer.  But in your case, it would make more sense to have separate accounts for the two lines.

  • How to keep laptop and desktop separate?  Are now linked somehow

    Hi,
I'm an idiot with computers and I'm baffled by this.  My husband has just taken over my laptop for his use.  It is synced somehow with the desktop, which I use, and I don't want it to be.  For example, he has wiped out all of my Safari bookmarks and replaced them with his own, and that's what I'm seeing on the desktop now.
I uploaded OS-X Yosemite today on the laptop; has that changed some settings?  The desktop iMac is running OS-X 10.9.5.
Are there some relatively simple explanations available on how to link computers in the same household, if desired, or how NOT to?
    Help, please.
    Thanks,
    reluctantuser

    Hello reluctantuser,
It sounds like you have the same iCloud signed in on both computers. If you are using iCloud then take a look in System Preferences > iCloud and see what account is signed in. If it is not yours, sign out and delete the data and then sign in with your account to bring down that information that was associated with your iCloud account.

  • My wife and I have separate user accounts but want to share our Photos libraries or merge them as one.  How do I do this?

My wife and I just bought an MBP (mid-2014 version) with Retina display and have separate user accounts with Admin. privileges.
We want to share our Photos libraries or merge them as one.  How do we do this?  IS it better to just have one account instead?

You cannot merge two separate libraries across user accounts. Photos does not have the function of merging different Photos.library files. If you have Aperture then you can merge the two before migrating over to Photos.

  • Managing calendar and contacts for two phones

I am new to Blackberry and cannot find info on how to keep my and my husband's calendar and contacts separate. I am also wondering if I can inport my Web Access Outlook calendar to my BB as well.
I have DM for Mac and the phones are 8300.
    Thanks for any guidance...

As Ann154 said, you need to log out of the master account completely to set up (register) each line for it's own account.  Separate browsers or even computers will work too, if you have those options. The initial setup of each line is a bit of a hassle, but once each line IS set up on it's own account, with it's own password, Backup Assistant will work properly for each phone.
Having separate accounts also allows you to purchase (if you are so inclined) ringtones and ringback tones for each line, and gives you access to cloud storage for each line separate from the others.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I sync only Calendars and Contacts on my work PC

Previous versions of the iCloud control panel allowed me to select separately which items I wanted to sync with a PC, Calendars, Contact, Email.
The new version of the control panel has this bundled as a single choice.
How can I eliminate incuding mail?
I am trying to use this on a work PC to keep calendars and contacts in sync, but cannot include iCould email.  If I cannot eliminate just the email will need to remove all syncing (defeating the purpose of the cloud).

You might wait until the next Mavericks to see if iTunes syncing for contacts and calendars is restored.  Otherwise, you can either install OS X server to restore local syncing (see https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-server/id714547929), or start syncing your calendars and contacts with another service such as Google/Gmail.

  • "Group" calendars and SSL trouble...

    Server: SL 10.6.3
    Clients: SL 10.6.3, L 10.5.x
Because we're trying to run Mobile Access Server (MAS), we cannot use Kerberos for calendars on a mobile device like a laptop or iPhone. So SSL it is.
However I find that I have to create the calendar as Kerberos, relaunch iCal, then change it to SSL.
I can't ask my users to do that, especially since sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries.
Do any of ya'll have any ideas that may help?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The web group calendar works with its group. User iCals can interface to a web group calendar and make entries that get uploaded if they are group members, but the user of the web group is the group. In other words they are two different calendars and a specific users calendar is not viewed on the web. The web calendar is not an iCal like application.
Use Directory.app under Utilities to setup Locations and Resources.
For setting up a user to interact with group calendar through iCal take a look at
