Keep directory structure for extra files after installation

I'm working on an AIR project in Flash CS5 that has some additional support files in a folder called "data".  In my publish setting, I included this folder.  When I run a test install of the AIR file, I no longer have a "data" folder in my installation directory.  How can I have the installer create this folder so I can access the support files?
BTW, I'm on a Mac and only see the .app file after installation.  The support files will hold application preferences that need to be read and written to.

Unfortunately, I am not able to reproduce the prodblem. To reproduce I added a folder called testFiles in the AIR Settings Window(In Included Files Section) shown below. And I got the same in Program Files when i installed the app.
Am i doing anything different than you? BTW I am testing on Windows for now.

  • What should be directory structure for Custom MDS files?

    Hi,
I have personalize a page and then exported the personalization.
Now my requirment is to migrate this personalization to other server, for which clients want steps specific to UNIX.
My doubt is where should I copy these files on the server to import the personalization using XMLImporter command? ( Client do not have JDev on his server, so can not use impot command)
my custom_top structure is like '/u02/int/applmgr/CUSTOM/xbol/11.5.0'
The customization is part of product 'OTA'
I am confused about where to put(Directory structure on custom top) customization and other MDS file to import using XMLImport.
This customization is also using a Custom LOV for which, I have given the path xbol/oracle/apps/ota/admin/enrollment/webui/XbolGradeRN.
For now I have transfered the file from window based JDeveloper and things are working fine. I need the UNIX directory structure for MDS files.
Please help to clear my this doubt.
    Regards,
    Adarsh

There is nothing specific to UNIX since the files are never picked from the file system on a production instance. You can place them under a temp directory with the proper package structure, the same way you exported personalizations for the seeded pages and the same custom package structure for your new pages and run import command. It's only how you run your import command matters, if you have placed the files in the proper package under some temp directory just give the -rootdir to point to your temp directory and no -rootPackage option.

  • Official directory structure for itunes 8 in OSX

I have had so many different locations for my itunes libraries over the years and I would like place the on a time capsule drive now. What is the default directory structure for itunes8? Are movies, podcasts, tv shows all in the same directory?

HD>Users>Your Account>Music>iTunes>iTunes Music - this is the default for iTunes.
The iTunes folder contains the data base file, .xml, genius, art work etc - the iTunes Music contains all your music in folders arranged by artist then album. Note that this is true as long as you have the iTunes prefs>Advanced - the 'keep' and 'copy' options are enabled.

  • Directory structure for servlets and webservices in one application

    hi,
Can any one help me for creating servlets and webservices in one
application and deploying in Jboss 4.2.0.
I want to know exactly what is the directory structure for creating this
application and what are the additional .xml files for deploying this application.
if any one know this answere please tell the answere.

I figured out a solution - it's a problem of policies. In detail: Server1's codebase entry (file:) refers to the class directory of Server1's project. In the simple case of only Client1, which has no codebase entry, it works fine without a file permission on the side of Server1. In the complex case of Client1+Server2, which has to have a codebase entry (file:) refering to the class directory of the Server2's project on a separate machine, for exactly the same method call from Client1 to Server1 a file permission entry on the side of Server1 is needed for Server1's class directory. But WHY ???
It seems to be a little confusing with the codebase entries, many of the posts are contrary to others and to my personal experiences. Some comments given by Adrian Colley throw a little light upon some aspects. Is there anybody, who can explain the whole topic, when, why, and which part of RMI application deals with codebase entries, also in case of not dynamic code downloading ? May be there is also a reference into the java docs, which I didn't found up to now.
    Thanks in advance

  • An EFFECTIVE development directory structure for J2EE platform?

Hi, here we r talking about deployment environment more than development
environment. Have u ever think about designing an EFFECTIVE development
directory structure for J2EE platform( e.g. weblogic )? u r not using the
    deployment directories for coding, r u? :)
I used to construct a dir structure for dev and want to improve it.
    d:/wholesystem/*.prj // Project files

Create a web-inf folder at the same level of src and
    jsp folder inside src
    i mean
    /build.xml
    /src/
    /src/java/<package>/...../*.java
    /src/demo/<package/...../*.java
    /src/test/<package>/....../*.java
    /src/jsp
/web-infSo, would you put in /src/jsp only the *.jsp?
And what in /WEB-INF ? What woud you put there? Would you do something like:
    /WEB-INF/web.xml
    /WEB-INF/src/<package>/..../<my_servlets_and_j2ee_stuff>.java
    /WEB-INF/classes/<package>/..../<my_servlets_and_j2ee_stuff>.java
In this manner sources and classes are in the same tree, it does not seem very clean to me, expecially if you consider that probably I must have a "test" directory to unit test some j2ee stuff (as for the j2se stuff in "src"): how would you do that?
Is this directory structure anyway what you meant or not?

  • Is there a suggested directory structure for iTunes?

Is there a suggested directory structure for iTunes? I have moved my library around several times (what with new machines, etc.) and I find that I have two app libraries in different locations and I think it is the problem behind a refusal to sync issue I'm having with my iPad.
Any help would be gladly appreciated!
    Luke
    (Screen grabs a great help)

I'll see your Tb and raise you some - the truth is, almost every major revision and data migration from MBP to MBP and now back to a MP has caused replication of folders in the strangest of places, none of which I have consciously created - I mean, why would anyone except out of self-focused spite want to create three different sets of apps folders - to say nothing of the interminable Compilations folders that sprout from no where in particular!
I could understand the issue if I was careless or a complete neophyte,  I only moved to the Apple platform about 6 years ago, (even though I've been using the platform since 1987) when I went to work for the company.
iTunes I think is a little like a cat - it recognises my lingering, subyle antipathy and rolls all over me just to mess with my head!
Thanks for the information, none-the-less, greatly appreciated.

I backup to an external hdd with Time Machine, when it ran out of space it did not delete old backups, now my internal hdd says its full when before it had heaps of space. I have searched for extra files but cant find any. Can anyone help, please.

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight as described here. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can also use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Change the license key for BOXI3.1 after installation

Are there problems if i change the license key for BOXI3.1 after installation?
(Not performing a upgrade from trial version)
Or do i have to do a re-installation instead?

    Hi,
Sure you can change the license key, without re-doing a complete install of BO XI. Just go to CMC->Lisence Keys, and add your new product key.
Then you 'll see bellow, the new information about u key (CPU/Date limitation).

  • Changing file name and directory structure for use outside of iPhoto

    Hi,
I was wondering if its possible to get iPhoto to name the files from my library to reflect the names that I've given the files in iPhoto. I'm thinking along the lines of iTunes, where its possible to chose in the preferences how the files are named, and there is some logical directory structure, such as "Artist/Album/01 - Track 1.mp3". These file names are updated to reflect any changes made in iTunes.
I've heard the argument that I shouldn't ever want to do anything with the files themselves because iPhoto can do everything I would ever want to do, but I want to organize the files so that not all of my organizational work is lost if I decide to stop using iPhoto and transition to a different system. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Adrian

    Adrian
    No it's not possible.
You can rename the files before bringing them into iPhoto, you can rename them with the titles on Export (Use the File -> Export command, it gives you the option to use the title and filename) but when it's inside iPhoto you cannot rename the files.
However, all is not entirely lost. Using Film Rolls (View -> Film Rolls) you can move pics between rolls, name rolls, create rolls and so on, as long as you do this in the iPhoto Window, and these changes will be reflected in the iPhoto Library Folder.
If at some point you decide to chuck iPhoto then (if the new app won't read iPhoto database files) you can simply export each album you've created to a Folder (using the File -> Export command as I suggest above), this, along with exporting slideshows will preserve your organisational efforts.
The iTunes database has a rather simple job to do: track a file and it's assorted metadata. iPhoto, on the other hand, tracks a file and it's assorted metadata, plus a Modified version, plus a thumbnail. If you consider what happens when you edit a pic, for instance - Copy Original, perform edit, save modified version, remove Original Thumbnail and then create new one - you can see it's a rather more complex job.
Finally, the standard warning: It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss. Any changes you make must be made in the iPhoto Window.
Need more info? by all means post again.

  • Default for opening pdf files keeps changing back to 'save file' after I set it to open in firefox

Since upgrading to the latest Firefox version, my options for opening adobe pdf files have changed. I set it to 'use Adobe Acrobat in Firefox', it works absolutely fine, then some time over the next few days it changes itself back to 'save file'. Then I have to open options and change it again. This happened to me some years back with a much earlier version of Firefox - I can't remember how it was resolved, I think it just stopped doing it after a while. But it is most irritating!

I echo the request for Help! I've added Options to my Toolbar so I can more easily change "Save File" to "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)" as the default. Why does Firefox keep reverting to the save file default?

  • Setting jdk directory in batch file after installation

    Hello,
Little problem : I need, under windows, to launch my application with a .bat cause i use the options -Xms and -Xmx of sun java compiler.
So i need to get the jdk directory and put it in the batch file to be sure java.exe will be found.
What could be a nice way to do this ? As nice, i mean i'd like the user don't edit the .bat to enter the path with keyboard.

you could program a dialog, and create the .bat - file after testing, whether the selection (in a fileDialog, isDirectory (), check for starting that jvm) is valid.
But this are two issues, independent from each other.
You may call java -Xmx ... with or without leading path.

  • Directory structure for the new Data Services Project

    1) I do as prescribed in the manual "Building and deploying
    Flex 2 Applications", page 325
"To create a web application make a copy of the /flex
directory and its contents. Rename the copy and store it in the
    same location under /servers/default directory."
("flex" is an empty Flex Data Services application that
serves as a template for creating your custom application)
    2) I create a corresponding project from Flex Builder 2 :
    Project type: Flex Data Services
    Root folder: C:\fds2\jrun4\servers\default\MyDS
    Root URL:
    http://localhost:8700/default/MyDS
    Project name: MyDS
    Project contents: C:\fds2\jrun4\servers\default\MyDS
    2) I build the project
Immediately after "build project" the directory structure at
    C:\fds2\jrun4\servers\default\MyDS becomes the following:
    .settings
    bin
    ----------------META-INF
    ----------------WEB-INF
    ---------------- --------------- classes
    ---------------- ---------------flex
    --------------------------------jsp
    --------------------------------lib
    -------------------------------sessions
    html-template
    META-INF
    WEB-INF
    ----------------classes
    ----------------flex
    ----------------jsp
    ----------------lib
    ----------------sessions
Notice that bin directory now contains another pair of
META-INF and WEB-INF in addition to those already existing in the
    template project "flex".
Can anybody comment on this directory structure?
Which META-INF and WEB-INF are supposed to be used for
    configuration?
What is the purpose of having two pairs of META-INF and
WEB-INF in the same web app?

    Hello -
first, those folders are necessary in deployment - You need
only the contents of the bin folder for deployment, not the
sources. Since you're compiling the application locally in FB2 it
places all of the supporting and necessary files into one location
namely the "bin" folder. You'd deploy the "bin" folder's contents
to the FDS server, perhaps another FDS server that is not your
"development" server -- like a production server. The data and
configuration information that your app needs for FDS services are
stored in the WEB-INF and META-INF folders so these need to travel
with the final product. On the production server you'd just cop the
"bin" folder and it's contents to the /servers/default folder -
where you could then rename your bin folder to "MyDS"

  • Directory Structure for multiple applications at one host

Can I have multiple (more than one) WEB-INF directory structures in the public_html directory for different web applications? If I do this, how do setup the url-pattern in the Servlet Mapping tag in the web.xml file? How do I setup the URL that calls the servlet from the HTML that has been send to the users browser?

If I understand your question, you want multiple contexts. All App Servers/Web Servers allow you to setup multiple contexts. Normally if your root context is in /home/myhome/app_server/
then you would setup multiple contexts by creating a folder for each context:
    /home/myhome/app_server/context1/
    /home/myhome/app_server/context2/
Each would have their own full application/website. And the way to reference these would be as such:
if the domain, www.mydomain.com, is mapped to /home/myhome/app_server/
    www.mydomain.com/context1/
    www.mydomain.com/context2/
I think that is what you were asking. Hope it helps
