Keep email accounts separate

Being involved with a number of separate businesses, I have 4 main email accounts which seamonkey has maintained separately, but having migrated to thunderbird I seem to be getting all of the emails combined together and keep picking up the wrong archive when trying to save material.
How do I tell thunderbird not to mix up email accounts? I've disabled all but one from the 'global' search, but that does not seem to do anything useful.

That was the one ... I was looking in 'settings' rather than on the menus :)

  • HT201320 How can i keep my email accounts separate on my ipad like they were b4 latest update?

I just installed ios7 now all my incoming email comes in together- how can i keep them separate- i have 2 email accounts?

Edit : your reply applied whilst I was typing this
This is what I see (I've removed my account names) :
And after tapping the Edit button :
If you aren't getting that then you could try closing the Mail app via the multitasking bar - press the home button to go back to the iPad's homescreen ; double-click the home button to the multitasking list ; swipe or drag the Mail app from there up and off the top of the screen ; click the home button to close the bar. Then see what shows in the Mail app

  • Can you have more than one Itunes account on one computer to keep your accounts separate?

Can you have more than one Itunes account on a computer in order to keep accounts separate when buying music?

  • A 2nd email account and keeping it separate....

I have my gmail account on my playbook which has grabbed all my contact info etc from my blackberry. My question: my son has a shaw email account. I would like to add his shaw email account onto my Playbook, but don't want him to know.  He is 12 and we still monitor his account. Can I do this? I wouldn't want the playbook to grab all my contact info, etc. and have it show up on his shaw account when HE logs in. Busted! As well, would it just be like me signing on at my home PC to webmail? I can only see what he hasn't deleted, etc.?  I am in Vancouver and a Telus Mobility customer.  There is nothing untoward with this, just keeping our kids safe.  With thanks.
P.S.  If this is possible to have a more-or-less stand alone shaw account on my PB, is there a link to instructions or can someone provide?  Would appreciate it very much.

pop3 will allow you to access, but can accidentally let you remove from server or mark as read for child to know you are prying.
IMAP and EAS will sync contacts unless when you set it up, mark each one as not to sync contacts or calendar

  • HT201320 Can I set up a second email account that I want to keep separate from the one set up for my iPad. Can I choose to send from the second account but not to receive onto my iPad, only on my computer?

can I set up 2 email accounts on my iPad - one from which  to send and receive and one to send from only ?

YEs, you can have multiple E-Mail addresses. Just add the additional accounts through the Settings -> Mail, Contacts & Calendars.
If you also change the mail settings "Show To/CC Label" to ON you can change the sending E-Mail server. You can also set the default account in there also, one more section down in the same E-Mail Settings section.

  • How do I separate the inboxes on my 2 email accounts.

I have office and personal accounts on my Iphone. under the old version of the operating system, I could keep them completely separate. Now, my home emaill is merged in the inbox...the deleted items are separated into two accounts, however. If it isn't possible to separate the inboxes, how do I uninstall IOS 7?

    Hello barbaraataaae
Just click the Mailboxes button in the upper left hand corner. From there you should be able to see all the accounts and go between them instead of having the unified inbox

  • How can i keep one email box separate from all the others....?

I have 4-5 personal email accounts. Mail gets them all, and it works as i want it - with ALL my inboxes and sent mail aggregated.
However, i now want to add my business exchange account. I want this totally separate - not mixed in with personal.
Ideally i'd like to run two instances of mail - is that possible?
If not, i'd like a completely separate set of mailboxes (in, sent, drafts, etc) for exchange mail.
    Can thsi be done? How?
    thanks.
    Grant

At some point i just sigh and continue to use OAW, bad as it is.
What is the problem with the suggestion I gave you?
IO rally want to figure out a way to trick the system into letting me run two instances, or keeping the two accounts independent.
Even if you could trick the system into running two copies of Mail, what do you think that would accomplish? They would both try to access the same Mail settings and data files. If the workarounds posted here aren't sufficient, you will just have to use a different mail client.
'Tis a shame there is no true outlook for MacOS.....yet.
LOL, that's like saying it's a shame you can't walk into a restaurant and order a plate of dog poo...

  • I have two cell phone, different numbers.  Each has their own apple id.  How can i merge them so apps on one show on the other but keep their emails addresses separate on their own phone?

Have two cell phones, different numbers.  Each has their own apple id.  How can I merge them so apps purchased on one phone show on the other.  But.as each has their own email address, I want to keep these email addresses separate on their own phone?  Thanks.

We do this in my family now.  We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores).  Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud.  That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup.  That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice.  You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.
In answer to what iCloud does for you: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response.  What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures.  Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures.  1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

  • HT5225 What about my mail? I was told I could still keep my email account but I am no longer able to download my emails.

I was told I could still keep my email account even if my system wasn't up to a wholescale iCloud upgrade but I am no longer able to download my emails to my account.  I can still get them on my iPod but not on my laptop.  How do I make the transition?

How much mail are we talking about here?  Roughly how many messages, and roughly how many gigabytes of mail?
Who is the mail provider?  Is this a local provider on a local network, or one of the "free" providers, or something from your ISP?
Do you have free disk space on your OS X system here, or is it possible that your disk is getting full?
As for the usual diagnostics for problems with Mail.app, launch Mail.app and select the Connection Doctor from the Window menu, let it run, select More Details, and re-run the tests.  Expunge any personally-identifying information and post the results here, if they don't make the trigger clear.
You can also try a mailbox repair pass; there's a Rebuild option in the Mail.app menus.
If the downloads are failing, then the usual trigger is the IMAP or POP password setup; there are two entirely seperate connections and two separate credentials and such; the send path (SMTP) and the receive (IMAP or POP) path.  Usual triggers for problems are changes to the mail servers involved, or the mail ports, or the credentials needed; I've seen vendors change each of those, and forget to mention it to their users.
That OS X version is extremely old.  (I don't have anything nearly that old to check the details fo the setup of that version; 10.6.8 is the oldest OS X version I have handy.)

  • I want to keep my email contacts separate from pho...

I have a Nokia N96. I recently set up email on it so that it sync's with my hotmail account
However when I set this up all the hotmail contacts (200-300) were merged with my phone numbers into an extremely long list
I want to keep my email contacts separate from phone numbers on N96
Is there a way to do this?
Also if I delete an email address on my phone will it also delete from my hotmail account?
    Thanks if you can help
    Sam

They both should show up in the top inbox. On the left side of the inbox is a small triangle. Click it so it goes down and you should see your Verizon and Gmail as sub boxes.

  • 3 family members have new iphones.  we are using the cloud. how do we keep emails separate

3 family members have new iphones. we are using the cloud.  how do we keep emails separate

Use separate iCloud accounts, with separate IDs.  (Note: you can continue to share the same ID for the iTunes and App stores; it does not have to be the same as the ID used for iCloud.)  One phone can keep the current account.  On the other two, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your phone.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from these phones, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  Next, set up a new iCloud account on these phones using separate Apple IDs and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new accounts.
If you have merged data in your accounts at this point, you will have to go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the other phone's contacts from your account, and vice versa).

You need two independent set of cookies to achieve this and only an extension can do this.

You can get a second set temporarily by switching to Private Browsing mode and keep the current session open, but that still allows you to only one access one account at the time and you need to login again after reverting to the first account by stopping PB mode.

I have two separate itune accounts under two different email accounts and would like to combine them under one account.  Is this possible and if so, how do I do it?

If you go to Settings > iTunes & AppStore , you can sign out from your account, and sign in with the one you've used to purchase apps. This will not remove any apps you already have on it.
Then you can go to AppStore and download apps you've purchased (either via "Purchased" button in "Updates", or simply search for them and download them.
That way you can have multiple accounts' apps on your iPad. When updating, you will be prompted for the credentials for account you've purchased given App with.
