Keep getting alert to uninstall Flash Player

Hi, I need some help troubleshooting an issue with the Flash Player.  I'm using Mac OS X v10.6.8, Firefox v3.6.23, Flash Player 10,3,183,7.
Sometimes when I visit websites I get an alert to uninstall the Flash Player.  I really don't see a pattern as to which websites they are other than they probably serve Flash content.  It doesn't happen too frequently, maybe every week or so.  I don't know if the frequency is affected by the fact that I don't restart too often (meaning maybe I'd see it every day if I restarted my Mac every day?)  Here's a screenshot:
Here are the menu options I see for Install Manager:
And when I click on Services Preferences, I get the Keyboard Shortcuts preferences which doesn't seem to help (or make any sense as to why I'd want to view those preferences):
I think my computer's pretty secure ad/virus-wise as I'm on a corporate network and pretty much just use this computer for work.  We use Symantec Endpoint Protection.
Thanks for the help in advance.

The unisntaller to my knowledge should not kick off on its own with a dialog.  Something seems off.  I think it would be a good idea to run the uninstall sequence from the below link and reinstall the player from htttp://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

  • I keep getting the message "Adobe Flash Player 11.7 r700 has stopped working"

I keep getting the message "Adobe Flash Player 11.7 r700 has stopped working"   I have no idea how to fix it and can't find anything online that has worked.

Ok, lets start. The first option you gave me. Didn't work. I went into safe mode like it said (RealPlayer is not on this computer). The problem still presisted. I then made a new profile, and still the same responces. Tried default one more, no avail.
I then prceeded to the step for the mms.cfg file.  Unfortunately, I cannot access that file. It's not readable on the computer. (Such problems with every turn I take )
So, I then proceeded to the second option of the hardware acceleration. Talk about falling flat on my face. It wouldn't even pull up my type of flash for me to even access the settings. It gave me the little sad face stating "Adobe Flash has crashed".
I have provided screen shots of what I get when I get the Adobe crashes.
This is the first popup window I get whenever I start to have issues with Flash.
This is showing what I got for the type of flash. except, first time it showed, there was the sad "Flash Crashed" face image. Notice the notification in the right bottom on the screen. That pops up everytime Flash forces close.
This is the sad "Flash crashed" face I am talking about. And yes, I submit reports everytime I get the chance to.
I don't know if this would help. But this popup happens occasionally with the Flash popup.
Just an FYI; that first Flask Popup even occured everytime I went to attach an image.  Hopefully this will help figure out what's going on. Please let me know if you need more info.

  • Using Google Chrome for Browsing, keep getting notice that Adobe Flash Player 10 is not responding ?

Have been using Google Chrome with Windows XP Media addition, Hp Athalon. 3 gbs ram, rogers internet protection.  When browsing keep getting warning that Adobe Flash Player 10 is running slow and offered to shut it off so as not to cause further problems with computer.  Have looked for Flash Player 10 download on Adobe Site for Google Chrome, none available.  Did not initially download Flash Player 10 myself, just showed up.  Suggestions please.

Hi, I understand. I think they were an older person not so familiar with computers and I was doing my best trying to get them to start their own thread. They have done that, so you shouldn't have any more posts to yours.

  • Keep getting prompted to install flash player 8, even though flash 10 is already installed.

Hi, I've made a flash file (mac, Flash 5.5) and exported the .html. .swf and .js file with settings to Flash player 8.
My viewers on a PC (Firefox 8 on XP) keep getting asked to download Flash player 8 even though they already have Flash 10 installed.
I've even unticked the 'check for flash version' option in the publish settings, but the users still get asked to update to player 8.
Our average user is using a PC with IE 6 or 7.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You are more likely to get an answer if you ask in the Flash forum (this is the Flash Player forum).

  • I have a imac and i keep getting popup saying myadobe flash player has crashed try to fix it but get stuck and know where help

i have a imac and i keep getting popups saying my adobe flash plug in has crashed

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

  • I tried to open facebook in safari browser on my ipad and I keep getting message to update flash player. What should I do.

These last few days I found difficulties to open website on my ipad through safari. It was started when I tried to open facebook. There was a pop up message asking me to update my flash player. As per my understanding there is no flash player installed or used on my ipad. Please help to explain what is happening with my browser and what should I do since I can't use my browser right now. Thanks.

Use the Facebook app instead of trying to open Facebook in Safari.
Adobe has not made a version of Flash for the iPad.

  • Keep getting asked to install flash player

    Hi,
Video is shown fine on localhost test site , but when I upload the video to the production site the video does not play and
promt to install latest version of the player
I have created a page for another site with the same video and no problems.
Any video can not be shown on this site.
It must be something to do with the server.
Here is the web page that I am having the problem with:
    http://www.fablevision.org/annual-reports/2009/BBC-Scotland-Newsnight-Scotland.html
Same video, on another site and hosted by a different company:
    http://www.transform-tv.com/programs/newsnight.html
    Can someone please help me?
    Regards,
    Simon

Hi Simon, I went to both of the links and just like you no problem with the one listed second. The fablevision link came up with a white blank screen.
Now I went to http://www.fablevision.org and clicked on the 2008 Annual Report and had no problem whatsoever, page after page came up. I thought that was interesting. Nothing to due with your issue, but no problem with the site.
Whether the Fablevision Player has a problem, I don't know. Perhaps you could check another video that uses that Player and see if it is working properly.
I'm sure you have the site info, but to email them it is: [email protected]
Hopefully, the website can solve the issue for you.
You might check some other Adobe forums; I'm sort of limited to Flash Player info.
    Thank you.

  • Why do I keep getting alerts for shared calendars?

I have a calendar set up in Calendar, it syncs with iCloud.
My wife has a clanedar set up in Calendar, it syncs with iCloud.
Both calendars are shared, so we can see what the others availability is on a given day at a given time.
But why do I keep getting alerts on my iPhone (and only on my iPhone) for my WIFE's events?  I've turned off the "show shared calendar events" button in the calendar preferences on my iPhone, but I'm *still* getting alerts for all her events.  I don't need this, I don't want this, I turned it off... why is it still happening?
My iCloud calendar is defaulted to my calendar.  I do not get alerts on my iMac for her events, only on the iphone.  Can anyone help?  I never want to see her events unless I manually go and look at them on my calendars or in iCloud calendar.

Your System Details list shows that you use a Firefox 31.0 release.
That is not the current release.
The current release is Firefox 34.0.5.
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
    *Firefox 34.0: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
*Trash the current Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • My computer keeps telling me to download Flash Player even though I already have.

Why does my computer keep telling me to download the latest version of Flash Player even though I have downloaded it multiple times.  Am I forgetting to do something?

Its seems to be a browser specific issue. Try a different browser like chrome or firefox, it should work.
For fixing IE or Safari, lets follow below suggestions :
Run the Flash Player Uninstaller as applicable for your machine(i.e.Windows or MAC) and remove flash player.
    For MAC : http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html
    For Windows : http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
    Restart the machine.
    Download and Re-install Flash Player.
    Restart the browser and check.

  • FlashPlayer 11 installed get "Adobe Connect requires Flash Player 10.3 or above" . Using Windows 7

This is the way the problem appears:
So I click the download flash player and go through the steps to install. Install as directed,And yet I still get the original problem.
I have rebooted my computer to make sure that it doesn’t need a reboot to activate the files installed etc.
I have removed flash player and completely reinstalled it.
I have also visited your site and you diagnostic says I haven’t an up to date version, but I have downloadeded it. as you can see above I have downloaded it.
    I am using
    - Windows 7 Home edition, with Service Pack 1
    - Active X version 11.5
Any ideas what the problem is?
    Thanks!

First things first....How did you uninstall? Did you use the Flash Player uninstall utility available on the Adobe site?
Try this first and let us know what the results are....

My best guess is you now have multiple versions installed.

  • Need help uninstalling Flash Player to do a clean install.

    Hi,
I'm feeling pretty stupid now, since I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.
    I'm running Windows 7/ 64 bit. I've got Flash player version 11.1.102.63
I'm having Spotify problems, and Spotify support asked me to uninstall and reinstall Flash Player before reinstalling Spotify. But I can't seem to get the blessed thing to uninstall.
I'm following the directions here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
I've killed everything killable on the toolbar. I've checked with Task Manager to see if any applications are running (none are). There are still processes running I've run the uninstaller in Administration mode and in user mode and in every mode I can think of, but when I restart after uninstalling, I've still got the Flash Player installed-- same version. I get no error messages when I run it, it just (apparently) doesn't work.)
Any ideas? Any stupid mistakes I might be making?
    Thanks!
    Cheryl

    Windows
Download the current 64 bit uninstaller
Uninstaller for 64 bit Operating Systems
Close all browser windows and run the uninstaller
    Restart Windows
Delete all remaining files and folders located in the following directories. (tip: copy and paste these paths into the path bar in an Windows Explorer window)
    C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player

  • I have finally uninstalled Flash Player !

    Hi
    My OS : Widows 7 32bits + all updates
My IE version : 10 + all updates
My Flash Player version : 11.7.700.202
I have finally uninstalled Flash Player because it slows down browsing with IE10 too much.
Each time I install Flash Player : IE10 slows down
Each time I UNinstall Flash Player becomes ligtning fast
I cannot live with that !
I uninstalled Flash Player and I will not look back until there is an adequate solution to this problem.

This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
1.)      Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
    2.)      Download the stand-alone installer from  http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg

  • Possible to uninstall Flash Player for specific browser with Uninstaller program?

    Greetings,
I'm using a domain login script to deploy Flash Player across 400 or so PCs. Currently the script is set up to run the Flash Player Uninstaller executable prior to running the IE Flash Player Installer executable. The problem with this is that the Uninstaller seems to uninstall Flash Player versions regardless of browser type, whereas the installer is always for a particular browser.
Specifically, in our environment our supported browser is IE, but we allow users to run other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome (but they must apply security updates themselves). When we deploy a new login script to install the latest version of Flash Player, the typical user will be unaffected because they use only IE. However, users running Firefox will suddenly be unable to use flash after the Flash Player installer script is run.
So is it possible to use the Flash Player Uninstaller program to uninstall Flash Player for only a specific browser? Alternatively, will Flash Player uninstall cleanly (and the keyword is _cleanly_) if the installer is run without using the Uninstaller program?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

You may get a more official reply from Adobe here.
To the best of my knowledge your observation is correct: the uninstaller tool will always uninstall all installed versions (ActiveX 32-bit, ActiveX 64-bit, plugin 32-bit, plugin 64-bit).
From my experience, the uninstaller from Control Panel will uninstall cleanly - as long as no browser is running during the uninstall.  With cleanly I mean that no files are left behind; I have no knowledge if there are registry entries left behind (with the uninstaller tool, or with the Control Panel uninstaller).
For your specific problem: why don't you always install both the ActiveX and plugin for all users? The plugin is just a single dll that is added to the install folder (two, respectively, on 64-bit systems).
