Keep getting disconnected!

Hi
For the past 3 hours or so I keep getting disconnected from the internet! I'm downloading about 15GB of stuff from steam, is this the reason that I'm getting disconnected? Under BT's new traffic management policy?
Thanks,
Fish

  • Updated to the latest and now I keep getting disconnected

I use the MS Remote Desktop Client for Mac and it worked wonderfully until I accidentally updated to the latest version. Now I keep getting disconnected. sometimes I get disconnected when I am back at my local computer looking something up and then
other times I'm just watching the screen and suddenly I get disconnected. Any suggestions?

  • My track pad keeps getting disconnected. A reconnect only works a short time. Disconnecting the batteries works for a longer time. What is going on?

My track pad keeps getting disconnected. Reconnecting works for only a short time. Disconnecting the batteries works for a longer time. What is going on?

Odd thing about batteries, tombird, whenever you turn off the mouse or trackpad or disconnect it, the battery % reading on the monitor rises.   Sometimes even if you do it for just a few minutes.   I would say your situation is normal.
BTW, rechargeables appear to be more susceptible to this than regular batteries.
If Barry's suggestion doesn't help (it should do), switch off, thoroughly clean out the battery compartment and the contacts, put in a pair of new, good quality batteries (Apple, Duracell or Energiser) and try again.

  • Why does my iphone keep getting disconnected from Wifi?

My laptop has no issue staying connected to my wifi, but my iphone 4 keeps getting disconnected. I connect to wifi then a few seconds later, it disconnects for some reason. My lapop doesn't seem to have this problem, but my iphone has been having this issue for some time now. I cannot load anything on my iphone because of this. I'm unable to go online for more than 3 seconds at a time, literally. HELP! I've resetted my network settings, forgot my network, and renewed lease on my settings, but I still haven't found a fix.

You are in a bad service area. Maybe you should think about switching carriers. Having bad service is not an iphone problem.

  • Why do I keep getting disconnected from Ichat?

why do I keep getting disconnected from Ichat?

Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
Set the port to 443(press return/enter(you might have to tick and untick SSL for 443 to stick)).
    Log back in again.

  • Why do calls on my iPhone 5 keep getting disconnected at random intervals?

My iPhone 5 is in a cover. Most of the time when I answer a call, it gets disconnected. Once, a person had to call me back 11 times! Is there something wrong with my iPhone? Why do calls (both outgoing and incoming) keep getting disconnected at random intervals?

So I just got Verizon Fios and I'm very happy with the fast internet I get on my Laptop.  My only complaint is that everytime I go to play my PS3 online... I Will be able to login and start playing in a game and then out of no where it says Internet disconnected and it boots me to the main screen of my game.  I don't understand why this is happening because when I check my internet connection it says it has a 100% connection. The wireless router is located right below my room in the office. If anyone has any ideas why I keep getting booted that information would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Try to power cycle your router (turn off for 30 seconds, and turn back on), and give your PS3 a static IP address.

  • Keep getting disconnected from Xbox 360

    Evening all
I signed up to BT Infinity around 2 months ago after having Virgin for 4-5 years. I eventually chose to leave Virgin after a month period where the Broadband was horrendously slow. I decided to go with BT Infinity as they seemed good for gaming. I play my Xbox 360 quite often and (other than the last month of my contract) never had any issues on Virgin.
The first 10 days with BT Infinity were brlliant, the Internet was quick and I didn't have any problems. Unfortunately, after 10 days I started to randomly get kicked from games, lose connection to my Xbox Live party, etc. After a lot of trouble shooting:
     - Port forwarding
     - Giving my Xbox a static address
     - Changing my Wireless channel
     - Disabling UPnP
     - Wired connection to my Xbox
was still no closer to finding the resolution. Usually after getting disconnected I'll do a connection test and will get a moderate NAT setting. I do these tests randomly and I'm constantly changing from Open to Moderate. I can only assume this is the reason for my problem. I should also mention that this doesn't only happen on one game but all games.
After having no luck, I decided to do a hard reset and see if that fixed the problem. After doing this, I was able to play with no problems for another 5-6 days before it all started again. I've now reset my router about 5 times and the same thing keeps reoccuring.
I can only assume the router (HH3 Type A) is the issue as I never had any problems with Virgin. I've just got off the phone with BT support where they did a few checks and eventually came to conclusion that my broadband/router are showing no errors so it must simply be my Xbox (even though I told them about the previous 4-5 years of no problems). I did ask BT to send me out another router to see if that was the issue but they simply refused.
I'm at a bit of a loss what to do next, I'm hoping someone on the forums has experienced a similar issue and has found a fix.
Thanks in advance for any help suggested!
    Dave

    Thanks guys.
I've filled out one of the forms above so hopefully someone from BT will get back to me.
With regards to the DSL light bradhughes, did the light only flash when you got disconnected? Everytime I look at the Modem/Router the lights all appear to be fine. I wouldn't be able to tell if it's happening when I'm disconnected though as they're in a different room to the Xbox.

  • Why does my 5gh video 60gig ipod keep getting disconnected?

Ever since I installed itunes 7 and 1.2 update my ipod keeps getting dropped. it says "do not disconnect" and then poof it disconnects istelf?
this is getting bad, i can't update my podcasts, etc.
    anger rising.
    dell   Windows XP

When iTunes/iPod sync process failed due to timeout, the iPod, has only the initilaised  filesytem structure at the start of the Sync.
The timeout failure could be due to
Bad hardisk - do the iPod disk diagnostic, refer to this excellent post by tt2
Slow USB port or resource - Dont use any USB hub, disconnect all other USB devices while syncing
Timeout due to Antivirus or other plugins - disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus or monitoribng software if you are syncing.
Preferably stop doing other things while syncing this ancient device, which the latest iTunes designer, think will soon be extinct.
    Have a nice day!

  • What is isp and why i keep getting disconnected from the internet every 10mins?

my internet keeps failing on me, and the isp is red then the rest is yellow only the 3 top wifi settings are green. i solve the problem by clicking on diagnostic but can only stay on the internet for less than 10 mins then get disconnected again. can anyone help me fix this problem permanently?

Connect your Ethernet cable from your modem to your computer, power the modem off/30 seconds/on and wait until it's powered up, then turn on your computer.
If you get kicked off again like that by your IPS at regular time frames (and WiFi is good), it usually means there is a problem on your end.
    1: Malware
2: Excessive or exceeding monthly bandwidth allotment (it is Oct 26th)
    3: Unpaid bills
4: Insecure network (others doing bad things, malware)
5: P2P files sharing, illegal device online
6: Important ISP email wating your attention for something important
7: Broken device (like a defective router) or another issue. Could be a lose wire blowing in the wind and disconnecting.
Process of elimination, calling your IPS resolves many of them, get a new router/modem, then you focus on if it's your computer, the router or lines from your house to the pole. If all that's clear, and others are reporting the same issue, then the ISP will come take a look at the wires in the neighborhood, send a tech to your house to check the lines/connections.

  • Keep getting disconnected to Internet using 2Wire modem/router

I have a Mac Sno Leopard 10.6.3 OS. We use AT&T/Bellsouth DSL through a 2Wire Modem/Router. I keep getting the "You are Not Connected to the Internet" Message and lose my connection for a short while, and then it comes back up. This will sometimes happen several times in an hour; other times it will go for hours and be fine. No systemic pattern; very intermittent. When I use my Mac Book on other routers, it is fine. Anyone have any suggestions? Apple has been unable to help me.

I had the same experience myself (brand new 2Wire router and new MacBook Pro) and spent some time searching for answers. Currently, the only thing I found to work consistently is to launch Terminal and have it ping the router constantly while I am connected. This eliminates all the drops I was experiencing. I left my MacBook Pro connected for over a week straight to confirm the drops are totally gone.
Steps to ping the router in OS 10.5.8:
    1. Open System Preferences
    2. Click on Network
    3. Highlight AirPort on left side
    4. Click 'Advanced'
    5. Click 'TCP/IP'
    6. Highlight the number series after Router: (should be similar to ###.###.#.###)
    7. Copy to the clipboard
    8. Under Applications > Utilities, launch "Terminal"
    9. Wait a few seconds for it to initialize and present a prompt
    10. type "ping", then a space, then paste the router IP address
    11. Hit Return
This will work for as long as your system is powered on. You will need to repeat the process if you restart.

  • All devices keep getting disconnected from router

Several times a day all of the networked devices in my home get disconnected from my router. They reconnect automatically after about a minute. I've already ruled out issues with the computers/devices themselves as well as the network cables. Doesn't seem to matter if they are wireless or wired. As a test, I had several of them pinging my router's internal IP address constantly all at once. It'll be fine for a few hours, and then they all simultaneously report the request timed out.
The router I have is the Actiontec MI424-WR model I got directly from Verizon with firmware 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.14.4 (checked for updates, none available). I've power cycled it a few times and I held in the reset button on the back for 15 seconds. Nothing's resolved the problem.
This all started a few weeks ago, and the router's been fine for years until now. Can anyone offer a suggestion, or will I need to contact Verizon to replace it?
    Thanks!

  • Hard Drives Keep Getting Disconnected

I keep getting the message randomly.

The only time I've ever seen that message was with a G-Drive whose cable was crap and wiggled out of the Firewire port if I looked at it funny.  Check your cables very carefully, and consider replacing them.  Just because it happened following Lion doesn't mean it's not a coincidentally-timed cable problem...  I've seen that sort of thing happen.

  • We got a new modem and i keep getting disconnected!

We moved to a new house and we still have the same ISP but we upgraded our internet to a faster connection. So the cable guy came, installed our cable and internet and we got a new modem. He connected our WRT54G Ver. 6 router to the new modem.
Our new internet connection is fast, at 10mbps, but the problem is it keeps disconnecting us. I don't know if the problem is the modem or the linksys router.
I don't know much about networking so please help =(

You can connect the computer only to the modem and check the connection is steady or not. If it is steady then try to upgrade the fimrware of the router .
Before doing the following steps, you have to connect the modem to the
router's Internet Port and the computer to the Ethernet Port Number 1.
Please access the setup page of the router by launching an Internet
Explorer and type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter.
    When
it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as “admin "" all in lower cases and then
click on ok. Now click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on
the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' to select the
extracted/uncompressed .img or .bin file and click on "Upgrade"
After doing the firmware upgrade you have to reset this router again
    for 30 seconds.
    Reset the router
    1. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
    2. Then, unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for
    another 30 Seconds.
    3. Plug back the power back in, and keep holding down the reset button
    for 30 Seconds.
    4. Release the reset button.
Please access the setup page of the router by launching an Internet
Explorer and type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter.
    When
it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as “admin "" all in lower cases and then
    click on ok.
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be
on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “.
Click on the Save Settings button.
Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".
    - Click on enable
    - Click on clone your PC's MAC button and then click on the Save
    Settings button.
To configure the router for Wireless.
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here Wireless Network mode should be mixed
    - Provide any name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box, all in
lower cases without any spaces in between.
    - Set wireless channel to 11
    - And wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on
    save
    settings.
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the
    Network Identifier.
    For Wireless Security : -
Now Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security.
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP
    Encryption should be 64 bits.
Leave the Pass phrase blank, don't type in anything.
And under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please.
    Click on save settings.
