Keep getting error "this url is not valid and cannot be loaded" in web sites, links, favorites.

While trying to open links in email, or on websites I get this error alert. Also happening when trying to open links to web pages in favorites. Does not happen when using IE 8. I'm using Windows XP, and Norton 360

Since I downloaded the last Firefox version 3.6 15, no matter where I am, I am back in my homepage and I get the message "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded", usually I can go back to the site I was in and keep doing whatever I was doing, but often it will happen again.
This is happening in both my computer, laptop and desktop, one has windows XP, the other one has windows 7.
Suggestions? It is becoming a nuisance being moved from the tab I am, and kicked back to the homepage tab

Continously get an alert: "URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."

Every time I open a new page I see this error. Could it be connected to the Google Chrome add-on? I see that add-on the first few times I open a new tab then it disappears and I start getting this error.

Tried to open Private browsing and get message "the url is not valid and cannot be loaded"

up graded Firefox directly from older version to latest version and problem cropped up. Latest version on my laptop which is out of service and in shop works fine and on my net book works fine. Should I have done it in steps?

New tabs keep opening spontaneously and I get the messsageThe URL is not valid and cannot be loaded.

This usually happens whenever I right click for a new tab or click a link. The unwanted tab always has the URL http://xn--3!1 -fua0do447bmv6g/#%C5%93%C3%8E%06%E2%80%99Ucr%C2%B7%C3%80 and I am constantly having to close these tabs.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

It's not that I'm typing anything in wrong, it's when I first open Firefox or a new tab. Instead of displaying the firefox page showing my recently viewed websites it's just an invalid URL. Why would I be blocked from this page?

That issue can be caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation (multiple versions can be installed side-by-side; SxS) that is missing some runtime components (Redistributable Packages) that Firefox depends on (problem with an embedded manifest file that specifies a specific runtime version).
You need to install the missing components (e.g. VisualC++ 2005 Redistrbutable).

Why do I keep getting an error message that reads "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."

Whenever I click on a link that opens a new tab using "about:tab", an error pops up. The error box is titled "Alert" and the message reads "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."
However, once I click OK, the page loads just fine. At first, I thought it might be one of my add-ons (Iuse a bunch), but it still occurs after restarting in Safe Mode. Any thoughts?
I can even create the problem without clicking on a link inside a page if I simply type about:tab in the address bar.

Wow! I actually solved this on my own. I didn't find any thread that helped, but after reading a few, I figured poking around in about.config would help... and it did!
Here is how I solved the problem:

Sometimes when firefox loads a web page the error message comes up stating The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded. And I know this is a valid web site. What gives?

This happens very often. When I open Mozilla sometimes I get an error stating that "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded." When I click ok the site stops loading and the tab is titled untiled.

This can be a problem with DDE.
