Very frustrating.

It's only happening on the Iphone, it's fine on the computer, it has something to do with the phone

    have you tried removing and readding the e-mail account? sometimes settings get corrupted or changed on the server end...something computers can sometimes handle better than the mail interface.

    Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and try again.
    Are you trying to access your mail on your regular internet connection or on a new one? I know I have issues accessing my yahoo mail via the mail app if I'm on and AT&T hotspot.  But if I use safari to go in via the mobile site (m.yahoo.com)  I can access my mail. And yahoo also has their own mail app. So the 'how' may help find the issue.
    If it's a new to you hotspot then the best way to fix it may just be to work around it (using safari)
    Another thing to do could be to go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars and delete your yahoo address then exit out, go back in and add the account back. Sometimes things get confuzzled and the best way to fix it is just to start over. Doing this should not effect your  mail account, it just deletes it off your device and then adds the info back in.

  • Cannot get maile connection to server failed

    followed the instructions for icloud set up in apple support for ipad and iphone even deleted the account and then set the account up with the correct ID and password.  I do use a different ID  than my apple ID for my icloud account.  I use my me.com email address.  I can get into the cloud on my pc and I can send and recieve email when I log into my icloud account but this fails to work on my ipad and iphone.  Attempts to seen or get email on these devices when on a wifi network end up with the message "cannot get mail connection to server failed"

    Apple's download AND activation servers are being stressed today with all the downloads/activations. It might be best to wait and try later.

I have repeatedly tried in recent days to update the IOS software on my wife's 3GS iPhone but keep getting message that the iPhone update server cannot be contacted. The phone syncs normally and I am sure I am connected to the internet properly. Also I have successfully updated ITunes software during this same time frame.  What gives??

    Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
    Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
    If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

    I still receive mail on my gmail so there is no problem of connection. I tried to erase and download the exchange, I tried to erase all the definitions on my iphone to factory definitions, nothing helps. I need the exchange very much because it is connected
    with my work webmail so when I receive e-mails fro work on my mail, i can answer via exchange. I need the exchange very much. What can i do to fix it?

    According to your description, your Exchange account cannot receive emails when it is configured on your phone. If I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to let me know.
    If yes, before we can go further, I'd like to recommend you try to configure your account on your Windows computer Outlook client.

  • Unable to connect mac OSX 10.4.11 to wireless network (virgin media) even though iPad, iPhone and laptop ok.  Get message 'password incorrect' even though it works with other devices.  Keep getting message connect to BT unrestricted access.

    Keep getting 'do I want to connect to BT unrestricted network' which I have never used before.  I can get my ISP details input but get message 'incorrect password' even though it works with 3 other devices. My network provider, Virgin Media, sent an engineer but he couldn't solve the problem - said network was all ok so problem must be with my iMac (OSX 10.4.11).  When I try to use internet I get BTWiFi is current wireless network - I've never used this! I've tried to change this and virgin media details are accepted, it's just the password stage that prevents me from connecting.     Excuse me barging in on the thread, but I have a lot of experience with Telus, and roaming with my BlackBerry (currently a Z10).  In short, you've been fed some outdated info by the Telus rep. Telus has become very Android-centric, and it seems like a good number of Telus CSR's are still reading from a Legacy BlackBerry trouble-shooting guide.
    My Z10 is unlocked, and I periodically use an AT&T sim when traveling in the US.  I have never had to change an email setting to get full email function -- including the SMTP settings.  To put it simply, your device first connects to a network using credentials provided.  At most hotels, for instance, your device will scan for and pick up a WiFi network.  The hotel will tell you the WiFi network name and give you a password to use.  You simply enter the password when prompted, then you may have to agree to certain conditions.  That's it.
    Your email settings are just that.  Using whichever network to which you are connected, the user name and password give you access.  The settings coincide with the email provider's server settings.  These don't typically change with the location from which you are connecting.
    I'd suggest you take a look at this very helpful email settings tool provided by BlackBerry, if you are having difficulty:  http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2013/03/email-account-validation-tool/
    It helps you determine the possible settings for connecting to your email provider.  Different providers offer different connection options, sometimes more than one.  Opinions vary, but my preference in descending order is:  ActiveSync, IMAP, then POP if required.  ActiveSync (aka EAS) and IMAP will offer 2-way sync.
