Keep Getting Muxer Bitrate Too High on Burn

What does this mean? I tried to reset my bitrate down, down, down, but made no difference.
Thanks.
Michael

I didn't start this post, but I'm encountering the same issue and I don't understand whats going on, so I'll post some details.
Running DSP 4.02 under OS 10.4.3
All compression done in Compressor prior to importing into DSP 4
The project contains the following assets:
1 42 min MPEG-2 stream (6.5 ave, 8 max) = 1.76GB
1 42 min 128kbps AAC audio stream = 39.51MB
1 7 min MPEG-2 stream (6.5 ave, 8 max) = 221.39MB
1 7 mmin 128kbps AAC audio stream = 6.49MB
1 49 min 128kbps AAC (second channel audio for above vid assets) = 46MB
2 JPEG images = 10.5MB
Menu audio, AIFF = 8MB
Interstitial (12 seconds MPEG-2 + AIFF) = 44.1MB
Menu & transition - DSP estimates it at 68.1MB
TOTAL = 2.196GB
The project is set up to have one main video assett with 2 seperate audio tracks (different languages). Presumably this is how DSP constructs the DVD as well, with one vid and two audio tracks. But even if it were to encode the video track twice, that still only 3.95GB - well within the 4.3GB ceiling.
If I remove the second audio track (46MB) from the project, it compiles and builds succesffully and the resulting .img is only 2.64GB.
I'll take any advice at this point as I'm stumped.

  • Muxer bitrate too high

Hi, I'm building a DVD with DVDSP 4, and get this error when I try to burn a DVD:
    Writing VTS020.VOB
    Muxing VTS021.VOB
    Muxer Bitrate Too High
    Build cancelled
Building was not successful. See log.
The source for this is a standard DV movie from Final Cut Pro, compressed using Compressor.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    thanks,

It means your bitrate is too high Keep your bitrates for DVD below 7.6 mb/s if you can. What did you set it at? Also use AC3 audio since its takes up over 1mb/s less bandwidth than PCM audio.
I didn't set any bitrate in DVDSP -- would that be in Compressor when I exported?

  • Muxer bitrate too high... solved... at least for me

    Hi all.
I've been getting that "Muxer Bitrate Too High" error like so many others. I've made probably 100 DVDs with the same process and sources, for the same client, and never had an issue. So the obvious suspects (like audio being aif or video data rate too high or too many streams) were not the issue.
But I certainly spent a lot of time confirming that. I lowered bit rates and recompressed several ways, even down to the lowest possible settings for both audio and video. Still the error. The log pointed to 2 specific tracks that were having the problem. Each track has single video (m2v), single audio (ac3) and one subtitle track.
So I imported those 2 tracks, without subtitles into a new DVD project. No error! (guess I should have tried that first). Then I imported the subtitle track for each... and got the error!
So in my case, it was the subtitle. And I've seen a few other victims in these threads who mention they have subtitles... so import your tracks into a new DVDSP project and build. Then import the subtitles and build again.
In my particular case, the solution was to go back into Sublime (that's how I make my subtitles) and review the subtitle files. I was actually making excerpts (smaller pieces) from bigger, previously authored programs. So I was importing previously made subtitle files, and deleting the excess subtitle in the timeline. Problem was, even though the excess subtitles were deleted from the timeline, they still existed as text in the text entries down below. I deleted those and reexported the stl and it worked.

I've read a bunch of posts and I have made sure my audio is AC-3 and I've compressed and recompressed the video several times to no avail. This is what I have: An AC-3 audio file for 1:39:43:09 at 48khz, an AC-3 audio file for 00:00:22:02 at 48khz, and MPEG-2 Video at 1:39:43:08 at 29.97 fps compressed with 4.5 - 7.5 VBR. I have 1 main menu and 9 sub menus all with motion and audio (the shorter AC-3 file). I have 28 stories. Other than that, I don't have anything special... no angles, no subtitles, nothing fancy. I keep getting that **** error... what am I doing wrong?

  • Muxing bitrate too high

Authoring in DVDSP 4.0 the build and format fails with the message in red "Muxing bitrate too high" The disk is only half full. I did go into preferences and lower the rates, but still same result. Any suggestions?
    thanx

    Hello thinkfinkinc and all others
Did you solve your problem? if yes, what did you do?
I have the same problem. And it´s when adding more than one audiostream that it fails.
    My case:
One still overlay Menu (edited in Photoshop) with four buttons, all targeted to one Videotrack
(a slideshow 43 minutes edited in Final Cut Pro, exported to Compressor (MPEG-2 High Quality Encode Widescreen 6.0Mbps 2-pass VBR 16:9),
but to different audiostreams (two buttons plays the same audio, music only, one button for a swedish voice over and one for an english voice over))
Adding only one audiotrack (DVD PCM Audio AIFF) to this and it works fine.
Adding more than one audiotrack and it fails. I have tested that out
It works fine in simulator, with all three audiotracks.
    Total content 3,3 GB.
This talk about ac3 as audioformat, did it work? And if, how did you get there? I cant find no way to convert AIFF to ac3. Not through FCP, Compressor or DVDSP.
At my first fail it said "Muxing Bitrate Too High", and after testing different combination it now says "Video Bitrate Too High".

  • Muxer Bitrate Too High???  What does this mean?

I'm trying to burn a disc and about 2 minutes into the process it cancels, and the log says:
    Muxer Bitrate Too High
    Build cancelled
    Formatting Finished
Is there a setting I can change to fix this error?

This could be for a couple of reasons - first off, if you are using DVDSP to encode and build at the same time, then go in to your preferences and reduce the encoding bitrate.
Secondly, if you are using compressor to encode the footage amke sure the encode rate is set appropriately for the length of footage, and convert your audio to AC3 files since they have a lower file size and bitrate value than uncompressed audio.

  • Muxing bitrate too high because of subtitles?

    Hello
I am producing a DVD which has nine subtitle streams in various tracks. The audio is AC3 and the video displays at just over 4 million bits per second. This is a new problem insofar as before the DVD menu had buttons linking to a main track and the subtitle requested. I was asked to insert a new title track with subtitles for every link (some of which are over 1 million bits causing the problem). How can work this all out. Where is the information about what the track displays, and what I needed to calculate. Bascially, according to my maths there should be plenty of space for everything and the programme disagrees. I know I must be wrong but would like to understand why?
    Thanks
    Dan

Subtitles count towards the maximum bitrate. The maximum rate that a DVD should output is 10.08 Mbps (Page 43 DVD SP 4.1.2 Pdf Manual) Of the 10.08, the maximum rate for the video stream is 9.8 Mbps. Video, audio and subtitle streams count to the max Mbps of 10.08 (Page 44 Pdf ) Note that some players do not handle the theoretical rates (meaning the rates they are suppossed to be able to handle) well, more so on discs burned from your computer. This rate is not related to how long or short a track is, it relates to how much data is being put out by the DVD.
It sounds like there is something in the title track that is causing an issue since the project worked before that it seems like?

  • HD DVD (Muxer Bit Rate Too High) - Cannot Burn

I am trying to burn an HD DVD and have used the Compressor preset MPEG-2 setting. I have a Toshiba HD-A2 player and have already tried the .h264 and it didn't work (I know it is not supported). The file actually played though, just very slowly.
Anyway, I read up that the MPEG-2 works with the Toshibas, and have encoded the file into DVD-Studio Pro 4. It plays inside of the program fine under simulation, but when ever I try to either build or burn the disc, I get this:

The error is in regards to the Muxer Bitrate. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Means the combination of video/audio stream is too high - did you encode outside of DVD SP using Compressor? You may want to try that (make a new HD MPEG setting) and knock the rates down.
Also FWIW, trying to get it to run on the Toshiba may be difficult at best - take a look for Toshiba HD and there seems to be issues with the newer versions of the firmware

  • "Video Bitrate too High" error when i build/format

Help! Ive reduced my bitrate to 2mbps for a 2 hour dvd project, and I still get a "bitrate too high error" when I try to burn. Even if i try to create an image and burn with toast, I still get the same error. I've also tried burning with a dual layer dvd and still no luck. Any help would be much appreciated.

    iami
Are you encoding inside DVDSP? Then the cause of the error most probably is related with your audio. DVDSP use uncompressed audio (AIFF) what takes a lot of the available total bitrate. Use Compressor to encode your video & audio as follow:
For 2hs of video you must be fine using the standard *120 min* MPEG2 preset AND the Dolby2 (AC3) audio preset. Ue those files in the DVDSP project and try to build again.
    Hope that helps !

  • Bitrate Too high! Warning in DVDSP?

Bitrate Too high! Warning in DVDSP?
I'm somewhat confused. I've encoded to MPEG2 ready for DVD Studio Pro using both Compressor and Episode Pro.
Settings are: Two-Pass, Aiming for 4.500 with Max Peak set to 6.500.
These settings are well within Compressor and Episode settings.
Yet when I go to Build/Format in DVD Studio Pro the Log comes back with a "Bitrate too high!" warning.
I don't really get this. If DVD Studio Pro can't handle these bitrates, why are they in Compressor as options?
I did a successful burn yesterday using these settings, the only thing I changed was I added audio to one of the tracks that is just 3 minutes long.
Total size of DVD is about 5GB onto dual layer.
Any advice on Bitrate settings so I don't get the "Bitrate Too High!" warning in DVD Studio Pro when I go to Build/Format?
What is a good recommended "Aim For Bitrate" and "Max Bitrate" for 2-pass MPEG2 encodes?
    Thanks guys.

There were reports that Compressor sometimes would spike past what was set, though with your AC3 settings, even with two audio tracks, and the rates you selected it would seem to be safe
This app is suppossed to read spikes
    http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MacDVDBitrateParanoia
But it has given me strange results
Also digiami.com (good software but $$$) also reads rates
Is your second audio file also an aif? If you remove it does the disk then build without error? You can try deleting MPEG/PAR files and/or repair permissions or delete prefs to see if it helps

  • Aiff to ac3 for bitrate too high

I'm getting a "bitrate too high" note as I try to build my dvd and the thing fails. I've read in this forum the suggestion to change an aiff file to an ac3 file to allow for more of a bitrate to be allocated to the video, but I can't find anything that will convert it. Compressor doesn't have this option (or, at least my versions doesn't) and I've culled through various other programs to no avail.
My head's a little mushy from hitting it against the wall. Any ideas/advice (short of throwing the computer away) would be greatly appreciated.
    g4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Jlab:
Before Compressor 2.x you need to use A.Pack application to encode to AC3. You'll find it in your Application folder. Use this tutorial about Encoding AC3 with A.Pack (from KenStone site).
    Good luck !

This is a project that I already had burned to DVD with no problems whatsoever, but I recently moved from OSX 10.4 to OSX 10.5 and also moved from DVDSP 3 to DVDSP 4 and there my problem began. At the moment I have 768mb of RAM and I'm aware that DVDSP 4 is asking me for at least 1gb to work properly. Would the RAM be the problem?.
I hope you can help me out.
    Thanx.

  • Help. trying to burn a dvd from fcpx. says bitrate too high

I'm using fcpx for a montage with effects like generators etc...not sure if this is why it says bitrate too high. I want to burn a dvd and it stops at 66% saying bitrate too high. I've seen an answer from 2011....wondering if anyone has anything new? My computer is Mac book pro 15 inch, latest software. I went to compressor but the final product doesn't allow me to put in a title and i'm worried about final quality. Thanks for any help

I would say usually it's about the same. If the settings are adjusted properly, it can sometimes improve the results; conversely, there's always the potential to get terrible results if the settings are wrong. (FCP X Share kind of takes that risk out of the process.)
Where the software can often add value is when you have long videos that you're trying to fit on a disk. Or trying to compress certain HD material with complex scenes. Or sometimes, you'll run into players that choke on a DVD and the adjustments in Compressor give you a chance to adjust the bit rate to a level that widens the disk's playability. And there are audio and video effects that can be added in Compressor without re-editing in FCP.
BTW, I don't believe you've yet told us how long your project is.

  • "Video bitrate too high", but DVDSP burned the same project before

I go the "Video Bitrate Too High" error. Normally I'd go back and "fix" it, but I just re-opened an old project. Same assets, same everything. Last time DVDSP burned it, this time it won't.
    DVDSP 4.2.1

not sure if you're saying they were pre-encoded or not, If a previous project is coming up with warnings it did not have before and refuses to burn, you might try throwing away the PAR files associated with the assets - these may be giving DVDSP inaccurate info about the bitrate and GOP structure.

  • Help! RE: Bitrate Too High!!

I'm still using DVD StudioPro 2. I've imported the ".m2v" and ".aif" files generated from iMovie2 and Quicktime. I used a 2 pass variable option.
After loading both files into DVD/SP2, when I try to simply "build" the file, it goes 20%, then gives me the error message, "Video Bitrate Too High." I've gone back into preferences and changed many times, even trying a one pass, with '5' as the highest rate, but still get the same error message.
The DVD project is a 10 minute promo for a company...no menus, just auto play. I can't problem solve why it's doing this.
    Help?
    Matthew

    Matthew,
Keep in mind that you need to include the AIF bitrate into your calculations. If you encoded your video using a variable bitrate (regardless of single or dual pass) and it peeks at anything over 8.2, you'll exceed the maximum bitrate of 9.8 (given that AIF stereo files are typically 1.536Mb/s).
One way to try correcting this is by encoding your AIF files into Dolby Digital or DTS.
Some of the info I wrote up in my FAQ-O-Matic may help...

  • "Video Bitrate Too High" error on build, but i KNOW it's not too high.

i keep getting the error "Video Bitrate Too High" when i try to build a DVD. i think its a bogus error, because A) i've successfully built a DVD with the media that it claims is too high a bitrate, and B) the media was ripped from an existing DVD and is already in .m2v and .ac3 format (with some titlecards that i added in DVD studio pro to the timeline). it shouldn't be recompressing it at all.
any thoughts? when i took out the offending track, it just gave me the same error on another track.
    thanks much for any help!
    dav.

thanks for the tips! can you provide me with some more info?
    1) how do i demux with another program? which program?
    2) how can i cut the last ibbp frame-group?
its very strange. if i create a new project and try to build it from there, it works. but if i import it into my main project, it gives me the error. any thoughts? is there a setting that i can change that controls the allowable bitrate?
    thanks again.
