.....doesn't that seems to suggest the modem?
That is what I have suggested....twice now. From posts above:
My opinion would be that it is likely not the ISP, unless you have complete loss of Internet service for all devices at the same time......it is the Comtrend device....
    and
I believe that the problem lies with the modem, and not the ISP signal.
Your ISP will likely have a different opinion, though. Please keep us posted on your progress.

  • Can I create a home network withous dsl connection with airport express

can I create a home network without dsl connection with airport express?
So it means I can't connect to my HP Airprint/Wireless printer without exretnal connection through ISP?? Just need to print from my Mac and iphone. I have Vodafone Prepaid connection, which is directly connected to my Mac. Does that make an internal network possible?

You have to set up the Air Port with an internet connection to set up a network. Do you have a modem? If yes you can set up the network.

  • How make wireless connection with airport express to  Yamaha Clavinova CVP-403 ?

I would like to wirelessly connect my Yamaha Clavinova CVP-403. I would like to use a D-link DWA 125 and my airport express. Does anyone has any experience on how to do that?

Hi Henry - you seem to be a very helpful and knowledgeable person and I am wanting to dive in to the depths of wireless working at home and could probably do with your advice. I certainly don’t have as much knowledge as Jaybee and if he’s had problems I am feeling a little apprehensive.
I know that the first thing I need to do is get an ethernet modem to use with Airport Express as I currently only have a USB modem. I was wondering if you have any recommendations or if I should go straight for the Netgear DSL modem/router (DG834B) that Jaybee ended up with. Although the bit about ‘disabling the Airport Express resp. Extreme routers’ scares me rigid
I have looked at ‘About this Mac’ and got the following for you – hope it’s helpful.
    OSX 10.3.9
    1.33 HGz PowerPC G4 processor
    Airport Extreme: Worldwide
    Firmware: 400.17(3.90.34.0.p11)
    Airport admin utility: 4.2 (v420.31)
My ISP is also Tiscali (UK) - they have said they can only provide modem support on the USB modem they provide so once I switch to an ethernet modem I’ll be on my own. I have checked the Tiscali website and found the following modems, so I would assume (probably unwisely) that they would be compatible with my account...
    Zoom X6 5590 DSL Modem (55907200)
    D-Link DSL-300T
Zoom Hayes ADSL Ethernet (H0-15805) (081580572)
Any help is very gratefully received.

  • Trekstor pocketair wifi storage connecting with airport express

    Hey there!
Is is possible connecting a Trekstor wifi Storage with airport express? I wanna use Itunes and this storage for streaming music with mit mac pro book (OS X 10.9.3)
Or is it nessaray to use a apple wifi storage like airport extreme?
    Thanks!
    Best regards
    Michael

Is is possible connecting a Trekstor wifi Storage with airport express?
In theory, the Trekstor should be able to connect to an existing network either via a wired (Ethernet) or wireless (Wi-Fi) connection. The AirPort Express, depending on the model, can supply both.
On the other hand, the Express DOES NOT support hard drives connected to its USB port; whereas, the Extreme and Time Capsule base stations do.

  • Trouble with keeping connection with Airport express

    Hi,
I've got 5-6 year old airport express which gives me some troubles. It has worked for months but recently it just disappeared from Airfoil and when I looked up the settings it said that it wasn't installed.
I tried to reinstall it several times without success. When I used old versions of the program it worked for a few days. And then the same thing happened, it disappeared from airfoil and I had to reinstall it again.
Could it be so that this old model of airport express is in conflict with my Mac Os Leopard system so it keeps forcing my airport settings to go off? Is there a solution to it so I don't have to reinstall it every now and then?
    Thanks for your help
    Regards Henrik

I need to share a wireless connection to a old powermac that does not have a wifi card. I have an airport express that is connected "join wireless network" mode, and I have run an ethernet cable from the express to the G5. However, I am not getting a internet connection on the G5 (the rest of the wireless network works fine).
If you launch AirPort Utility, put your AirPort Express into "manual setup" mode, then view the AirPort panel, Wireless tab, have you checked "Allow Ethernet clients"?
I am wondering if I should have the express set up in one of the other "wireless mode" options such as, "participate in a WDS network"? What exactly is a WDS network anyway?
WDS is for pre-802.11n equipment. You don't want to use it unless you have to.
If I click on "internet" in Airport Utility, go to the airport express, I see that "connection sharing is set to, "Off (bridge mode)" and grayed out.
    What exactly is "bridge mode".
"Bridge mode" delegates control to the "upstream" router. In your case that's what you want.

  • Can't connect to Airport Express since upgrading my router.

I recently changed my router from an old Netgear 834 to a TP-Link W8961ND and now I keep losing the Airplay Speaker logo from my iphone4, ipad2, and itunes on my Windows 7 PC. When I unplug the AE and restart it connects but afer abour 30-40mins it disconnects and the only way to get it back is to unplug again. Is there some incompatibility with AE and the TP-Link router.

    Same again, here...
    TP-Link TD-W8961ND
    Windows 7 PC
    Mac-mini
    iPad 2
    iPhone 4s
    2 Airport Expresses (1 old, 1 new)
I got the router and second AE (for another room) about a month ago to replace an aging 'g' Netgear (which, although dying occasionally connected to everything and the AE worked fine). Had the same problem from the start (only now properly investigating):
    - Plug in either AE - light goes green
    - Shows up in Airport Utility, speakers on all devices
    - Fine for 30-40 mins
    - Disappears from all devices and Airport Utility but light stays green
    - Only way to resolve is to unplug and plug back in.
Strange. Pretty sure it's not the AE as I have one brand new and one old (which until we got the new router worked fine), and it's unlikely they'd both start exhibiting the same behaviour. So that leaves figuring out potential settings on the TP-Link.
And I don't think it's channel interference as (a) using iStumbler I see all the devices in the area are on either channel 1 or 11 - I've set the router to channel 6, and (b) other people are experiencing the same problem, and it's unlikely we'd all have the same conditions around us.
I'm not too sure about the various wireless settings - they're all a bit beyond me, but will continue with trial and error until something works... will let you know if I find anything.

  • Lose internet connection with airport express

I have a powerpc imac G5 and intel powerbook with built in airport and using an airport express for both. I've since moved in with my fiance and she has a PC. We can all connect to my airport express without any problems initially. Every once in a while though I'll lose my connection in all 3 computers. The green light on the express is lit at all times. If I unplug the express and replug and wait for it to reset, all is fine again... for a while... then some days later it'll go out again. Any ideas why this is happening.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    J.

    Hana, welcome to the discussions!
First thing to check is how much competition you have for the airways in your area.
Download iStumbler, www.istumbler.net to get a look at the other wireless networks that may be causing interference with your system.
Pay close attention to the channels that the other networks are occupying. Then using AirPort Utility - Manual Setup - Wireless Tab, change your channel to a setting that is as far away as possible from the other channels in use.
If you are in a dense area of apartments, etc., it may be quite difficult to find a clear channel. And, most modern routers allow the user to keep their network hidden, so you may not be able to even see some networks. Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts here.
You might also try "interference robustness" under "Options" on the Wireless Tab in AirPort Utility - Manual Setup. There may be a slight speed penalty for using this setting, but if it prevents interruptions, that will be good compromise.
    Post back on your progress.

  • Night and Day connection with Airport Express

I have a cable modem (Motorolla SB5101) connected to an Airport Express (non N version). The Express is feeding out to 3 macbook pros and an iMac. During the day I will get pretty much all or nothing in terms of internet connection. It is not only selective by time, but also by content. I could type google.com into one safari tab and yahoo.com into the other; one might load instantly (I have a 10Mbps connection btw) and the other might just sit indefinitely. Typically when this happens I just give it a second and it retries and figures it out. Not so today. I've tried reseting the modem, the airport, changing the channel on the airport, adding DNS server addresses to each computer....no luck. It usually fixes the problem for a few minutes when i fiddle with it and then goes back to failing.
If it's any help, it seems to always stop working when I'm just about to pay my credit card bill online or lookup information for someone while on the phone... haha
It happens on all 4 computers randomly too. So is it my internet provider or my airport?

    Welcome to the discussions!
"During the day I will get pretty much all or nothing in terms of internet connection" and "So is it my internet provider or my airport?"
It may be interference on your network that is not caused by either your internet provider or the airport.
Please download iStumbler, www.istumbler.net, so that you can get a look at your wireless signal strength and noise. In addition, note other networks in your vicinity that may be interfering with your signal. Look in particular for any networks that are on the same channel or a close adjacent channel.
Cordless phones there or at the neighbors? Can be a nightmare since they use the same 2.4 GHz frequency that most wireless networks use. If you have them, turn them all off for a few hours to see if that makes a difference.
Microwave ovens, other computers, television sets...all are known to be possible causes of wireless interference.
Do some investigation. How crowded is the airspace around you?

  • Ipad connects with Airport Express, but not wireless router

I have a airport express that exends my network and is connected by an ethernet cable to the wireless router.  they are on opposite sides of the house from each other.  every other device i own has full bars wifi anywhere in the house.  but the ipad only seems to find the signal from the AE.
If i go in the bedroom with the wireless router, the signal drops to 1 bar.  if i unplug the AE along with all the other electronics for the TV/Receiver at night, the ipad loses the signal and cannot get a signal from the router, standing right next to it.  i have tried reset, hard reset, renew lease forgetting network, and all fails.  any ideas?
I have a Verizon Ultraline series 3 model A90-9100EM15-10 and the firmware is up to date.

You likely have your reason for extending your network in this manner, but it seems that the AE is not really extending your router's network, but creating its own separate network that then extends your internet connection. This can be confusing to devices if you are expecting that they will switch between the two of them automatically.
The iPad can only support one connect at a time. It sounds like you want it to be able to jump from the AE connection to a router connection on a whim when signal strength drops. I am not sure that the iPad's radio is that sophisticated. At best when the iPad looses a signal it could ask if you want to join any other network that it detects, especially if it has connected to that network in the past.
AFA the router, some routers don't like iOS devices and just won't connect. When you go to Settings/Wi-Fi does the iPad see the router's network? If the iPad sees the router network, try configuring a connection by hand.
Tap Other... and write the name of the router's network. Tap Security and select the type of security the router's network employs. Return to the previous pane and enter the password. Tap Join. If you can make the conection the iPad should remember this network in the future. Turn on Ask to Join Networks and hopefully when the iPad looses the AE signal in the future it will then ask you if you want to join the router's network.

  • Sudden slow wifi connection with Airport Express 802.11n

Recently, all of a sudden I noticed the speed of my internet droped dramaticlly from ~27Mbps to ~4Mbps (Speedtest.com) Comcast's blast. When I connect my laptop directly to the modem there is no problem with the speed. I tried restarting the modem, changing the channel/radio mode on the airport express, hard reset the airport epress, change the location of the airport express but nothing has changed. I notice that the speed fluctuate on speedtest.com meaning it ranges from 1-3 to 5-7Mbps. I test the speed on three other laptops but still got the same result. The only change I can think of that could effect this is the addetion of two computers to the network but I would still get the same speed when they are powered off.
    Thanks

Do I have to change anything on my computers?
you use +airport utility+ (AU) (in your applications > utilities folder). launch AU, double-click on the icon of your extreme to enter manual setup, and go to the wireless tab. see this screen shot
however, before you do, i recommend you download iStumbler (does not work with Snow Leopard) or AirRadar (it has a trial period) and note the channels other networks in your vicinity are broadcasting on. change the channel of your network as far away as possible from those.
    good luck !

  • Using Bittorent on my WinXP computer loses connection with Airport Express

I read somewhere on this forum that this issue is an "extemely annoying problem." I will second that notion - especially because I have yet to find a remedy for it. I am trying to use Azureus (BitTorrent Client) on my WinXP HTPC and I keep getting disconnected from the network. I am using a Linksys Wireless-G USB network adaptor on my PC. Sometimes the connection on my PC won't even reconnect unless I unplug everything. I have patched the TCP/IP limited transfers to 50 connections, so I don't think that's the problem. Has anyone else encountered this issue? And if so, what was your remedy? I haven't touched any AirPort Express settings yet due to the fact that I don't exactly know what I should change.

    same problem here.
MBA (latest os), even my ip5 (latest ios) & ipm (also latest ios) looses the connecntion.
Ive tried to figure out what causes the problem - neither my xbox360 nor (and i guessed they will be the problem) the pcs here...
the connecntion runs well.. switching also (MBA-IP5-IPM).. but not for longer than an hour.. or even minutes. When the connection looses a high-frequency noise is followed by silence. A restart fix that problem and all devices streaming well... but not for long...
    any suggestions?
