Keep losing my effects tab.

Every time I launch FCP my effects tab disappears. I go to window and click it and it comes up in a new window, not in a new tab that I can switch to from the browser tab. Then it disappears again when I relaunch. What's going on? Do I need to trash the prefs, if so can someone point to which files I need to delete as I'm new to FCP from FC Express.

Press cmd & 5 keys to get your effects browser back.
Then go to the menu bar: Window > Arrange > Save Window Layout.
FCP should then use that file at startup. If not, you can go the same route as above, choosing Load Window Layout instead.

I keep losing my history and tabs when I close. I don't have any boxes checked in the privacy section to do so. My tabs also don't show the icons.

I keep losing my tabs and history and I have it set in FF to save my history. It doesn't happen all the time just randomly but still annoying. I read all the help and everything that they said to check was fine. I also don't get the icons on every tab like I used to. some have it some don't. I have a tab up for Yahoo and it used to show the Y and now just an empty box. but Facebook shows the F.
I can live without the tab icons but it is really annoying when I lose all my history and tabs.

I bought a new MacBook Pro several months ago. I keep losing my wireless connection (my wife, sitting several feet from me has no problem with her iPad2). I find the quickest fix ix to turn Airport off and back on. Very annoying. Suggestions please?

What kind of wireless router are you using? more importantly which protocol are you connecting with? Are you and wife connecting using the 2.4Ghz band? or do you have a dual band router that offers the 5GHZ band? Are you both connecting vie 802.11 a/b/g or n?
The best thing to do is to go into SYSTEM PREFERENCES and select NETWORK, then select AIRPORT and click on the ADVANCED button.
Under the AirPort tab you should delete all the preferred networks and only add back in your network with the proper security settings and passwords.
If you hold down the option key on your keyboard while clicking on the airport icon at the top on your macbook pro. you'll seesome data that will tell you what band and mode you're connecting at, as well as in an indication of signal strength (RSSI) if you write down and post back that information it'll tell us what's going on.

AA3 keeps losing Audio Hardware Setup settings...

I work in a broadcast center with a number of AA3 machines that keep losing their Audio Hardware Setup settings. It keeps switching from the LynxONE drivers to Audition 3.0 Windows Sound. I can find no documentation on this.
I've found that the trigger is when AA3 has "release ASIO driver in background" NOT checked, and the user minimizes it and plays something from another audio program. Then they have to go in and set it back again before AA3 will pass audio again.
Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

In the Options menu. Device Properties. Then you have tabs for Wave In and Wave Out amongst others. Also you may need to also set Device Order from the same Options menu.

I keep losing my Firefox Toolbar along with my other Tool Bars.

I keep losing my Firefox Toolbar so I can not get to my Bookmarks, Tools etc. Today I have no Tool Bars at all.

Could you check that Firefox didn't switch to its full screen view? You can switch that using either:
* F11 key on the keyboard
* slide the mouse all the way to the top of the window and watch for the tabs and toolbars to slide down, right-click a blank area of the tab bar > Exit Full Screen Mode

This could be caused by an incompatibility with one of your extensions, or a corrupted data file.
If you tap the Alt key or press F10, can you call up the classic menu bar (File, Edit, View...)? If so, try Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
From the Help menu, choose Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins will still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
Do you have your toolbars in Safe Mode?

My ipad 3 keeps losing sound controls

My ipad 3 keeps losing its sound controls. I have tried all the advice online about going into settings and moving the switch on the side by the volume controls.
When it happens (its been at least once a week) the only thing that sorts it out is doing a reset (holding the home/power button down) and then waiting for a few hours.
When it happens if I double click the home button, swipe right and go to the volume controls there the control is empty (the little movable tab is gone)
What is wrong? Do I need to take it in?

I keep losing my Internet connection on my I mac osx 10.7.5 Wi fi and Ethernet. The only way to reconnect I'd renew dhcp but then it will disconnect again less then a minute

I keep losing my Internet on Wi fi and Ethernet, on Ethernet if I renew DHCP lease it will start again put within 20/30 seconds it disconnect again. My laptop , iPhone, iPad my other laptop all work with no problems, so it can't be the router any help please, my iMac is around 4 years old

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

I keep losing emails from my iPad.. HELP!

I keep losing emails from my inbox on my iPad.. They seem to disappear on a daily basis. I have an account set up on my iPad, iPhone 4 and iMac. Would that effect the mails on the iPad? Every time I go and check my emails they have just disappeared and I have to check the mails on either my phone or the iMac.. it is sooo frustrating!

I have had this same issue for about a month. I have checked every setting on every device but still lose emails randomly. I use an iPhone 4s, an iPad, and a Dell laptop. I have them all synced with outlook and everything was working fine in the beginning. Howevr as of late, I go to refernce emails on my iPhone only to find it missing. Whe it is missing from iPhone, it is also missing from iPad. BUT it is still on my laptop.
This has become very frustrating for me because booting up my laptop to reference an email from yesterday that I actually read on my iPhone takes a looonggg tiimme.
Please let me know which "settings" I am overlooking because I am getting a bad opinion of Apple.

Keep Losing my Libray

Hi guys,
I keep losing my iTunes Library. It I exit via the file tab I sometimes get it back.. it I exit using the X or - I lose everything and have to import everything. Then I have to go through it all and un-check unwanted songs and then I have to recreate folders. It is getting really frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

Keep losing wi-fi

After 8 very good months, my pad keeps losing the internet wi-fi connection.
I turn it on and off, reconnect wi-fi, walk around the house,closer to the router, even taken pad out of sleeve.
Eventually it comes back...very frustrating.
I am sure it is the pad as all other laptops, phobes in house have no problems.

I've had similar problems, with no solutions. WiFi and/or AirPlay gets flaky and I have to reboot the phone. It's like Microsoft wrote this 4.2.1 update.
When I unlock the phone, it almost always shows 3G rather than a WiFi connection. It takes a few seconds before it connects to the WiFi. This is pretty standard and makes it annoying when I want to pull out my phone to use the Remote app to control iTunes on my computer since it takes longer to sync up with it.
I've had to restart the phone twice in the past week because WiFi refused to work. I first noticed it at home. It wouldn't connect to the network. I noticed it again at a coffee shop. My MacBook showed a handful of WiFi networks to choose from, but if I went to the Settings app > Wi-Fi Networks, the Choose a Network list showed nothing. Toggling WiFi on and off didn't help. Toggling Airplane Mode didn't help. Only a reboot fixed the problem.
In both cases, it seems that the WiFi powers down and in some cases refuses to power back up.
WiFi range also seems to have gotten worse, but that could be my imagination or just the fact that WiFi has gotten flaky.
FWIW, I use the AirPlay feature a LOT with my iPhone now that 4.2.1 is installed. I wonder if that has any effect on how WiFi works on the phone.
I'm certainly not pleased. This phone has been trouble free up until now.

WRT54G v4 keeps losing connection to the internet

My WRT54G version 4 keeps losing connection to the internet. I've been on the phone w/ customer service so many times that the last time I think they gave up because after putting me on hold they never got back on the phone! :-)
Anyway one pattern I am seeing is that the router loses connection to the internet within two or three hours after I disconnect from the Cisco VPN and shut down my work PC. Has anyone else seen something like this?

I found that Linksys EasyLink Advisor is a needless program that ultimately downgrades your router from a good piece of technology to a problematic pile of junk. So, therefore, try uninstalling Linksys EasyLink Advisor to get your good, solid hardware back. All you need to do to in order to get your router to work is plug it into an outlet, plug your Internet connection into the router, and then connect your router to your computer. It should then work without software (i.e., LELA) complicating it up.
Now, if you feel the need to set up an SSID or security, which I highly suggest, type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser. Leave the user name blank, and type admin as the password. Go to the Wireless tab and type something in as the SSID. It could be anything, just as long as it isn't linksys. Click on the Wireless Security sub-tab. Select WEP as the security mode with a WEP encryption of "64 bits 10 hex digits". Now, in Key 1, you need to type in a 10-digit password of numbers 0-9 and letters A-F (I believe). I suggest you use your phone number since that is very convenient in this instance.
Hopefully what I suggested in the first paragraph resolves your problem. If not, I suppose you could ignore the second paragraph if you feel the need to reinstall LELA. *shudders*

K8N Neo Platinum, USB devices keep losing power

I have a K8N Neo Platinum with a 3000+ AMD 64 chip...
I have a USB problem whereby my wireless USB adaptor just keeps losing power, when I look at the adaptor itself all the power has gone and no lights are on. Unplugging the device and re-inserting it does not get any response from windows. Also, after this has happened, my other USB devices (ie mouse) continue to work fine UNLESS I unplug them and re-insert them. If I do this they also will not power back up. I've tried various adaptors from Netgear and alll of them have the same problems, its like they are causing the USB on my system to fail.
This happens with both the motherboard rear ports and the case front ports and is really driving me mad. Running XP Pro SP 2
I have this problem a couple years ago, and now I've gone back to using the same machine after a reformat the same is happening again. I've installed the latest nFoce drivers and in device management I've turned OFF power management for the USB Root Hubs but it's still happening.
Any ideas?

Check to see if there is a wire running from your Front USB ports to the #10 slot of your USB block which connects to the motherboard header.
USB connector block layout which corresponds to the pin layout on boards with the Intel spec for USB. Do not cut the pin on the MOBO. You are removing/cutting the wire to the connector block from the case.

If you find a wire leading to the #10 spot on the block, remove that wire. My block has tabs so that you can pull the wire out, or you could snip/cut the wire leading to that position--if you cut the wire, be careful to cut the correct one and cut it in such a way that it may be repaired if you make a mistake. Make sure you wrap the wire, the exposed end/s, you remove/cut with electrical tape so as not to accidentally cause a short. I actually folded the wire back and wrapped it.

This seems to be a common issue involving many different case manufacturers. I don't know how it applies to other MOBO manufacturers, but in these forums it is not limited to a specific MSI model or supported chipset(Intel or AMD).

Keep losing connection via wireless.

first post from me.
Have recently gone back to BT and chose the infinity package as it claimed you would get the best wireless coverage out there.
Now heres the problem.
I keep losing my wireless connection on my iMac....So i try to use my iPhone instead, but still cant connect to the internet...My daughters laptop also wont connect...This has happened four times in the two weeks ive had it..The annoying thing is this never happened with Virgin..
All three blue lights are on, which suggest it should still be OK, but the connection has dropped out....
I have to restart the router and then shut down/startup my internet browser...
Can anyone please help me with this issues, as it becoming very frustrating..

I can't speak for all your devices Dave, but when my wireless connection to my Nokia kept dropping out (my PC is connected by network cable), I followed the advice from another forum post...
Try going to your HH3's Manager page: http://bthomehub.home/
Enter your password, Click on the wireless tab, and try changing security to WPA only.
This obviously results in a less secure connection, and ignores the point that the Hub should flippin work on all settings without dropping out, but as a quick fix it worked for me.
Failing that, some others suggested changing Channel Selection from Automatic to any fixed channel that works well, ie, a resulting poor connection would suggest interference from other neighbourhood wireless devices so try a few to see which seems to give a reliable connection.

I have a late 2012 iMac running osx 10.8.5. I keep losing access to my internal hard drive. I can reboot and regain access and it will last for a few minutes or hours. Disk utility does not seems to help.

I have a late 2012 iMac with an I5 precessor running OSX 10.8.5 and a 1tb internal hard drive. I keep losing access to the internal hard drive/startup disk.
I can reboot and everything operates as normal for a few minutes or hours but then I lose all access again to anything on the hard drive. The computer is still up and running but no files can be accessed and certain websites cannot be acessed even though internet access appears to be normal. Disk utility can only find permission errors related to iTunes which can be repaired only to come back at the next scan (I would not think permission errors would have anything to do with the hard drive crashing). It does not seem to matter what program I am using at the time access is lost and it can lose access sometimes right after reboot when no program is running.

You will need to boot into the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during restart and select it) to run Disk Utility/Disk Repair.

Problem with ARD3 keeps losing the cursor

I am having problems with ARD3 whereby I keep losing the cursor when controlling another machine. The cursor is still there but you have to click-drag to see it moving. There was a similar problem a few months ago after a system update and pre ARD 3.1. I used to be able to upload the ARD client and that would solve the problem temporarily. But now that won't even work.
Another thing I notice when that happens is that my "Hidden Dock" stops appearing unless I click in the area. That also happens with my menus. And Expose stops working too.
The only way to get around the problem, is to either restart the computer or leave it for anything up to 1 hr, then it will be fine again.
Does anyone have the same problem?
I use a MacBook Pro DC 2G with 2G of RAM. 10.4.9 and all the latest System Updates including Security Update 2007-04. This started happening even before the 2007-004 security update.
MacBook Pro DualCore 2G Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I find that this happens only if a tool tip comes up after having it over an item in the toolbar however clicking in the remote computer's windows somewhere will bring the cursor back. Additionally switching windows, to say the main ARD window, and then back again will restore it as well.
